๐จJUST IN: MAJOR 49ers News After Win vs. Cardinals – Nick Bosa Injury, Mac Jones Hurt, Why 49ers Won
Here [Music] we go. Welcome into the San Francisco 49ers report. Chase Senior here with you. And as always, no matter where you are, how you’re tuned in, thank you so much for making today’s show a part of your day. Getting to the latest Niners news and takeaways after another thrilling early season victory for San Francisco. Isn’t this pretty crazy? The Niners are 3-0 for the first time since 2000. And they’ve won their first three games by one score for the first time in franchise history. I know a lot of you have been saying, “Man, I can’t deal with these stressful Sundays every single week.” You got to admit though, it’s pretty exhilarating and the Niners are 3 and 0. With that, it’s a victory Monday here on the program. You know the deal. If you’re pumped up about this 49ers win, it’s a tradition here on this show. then I want you to hit that thumbs up icon and like the video right now. And I want to begin here, right? There is a common theme with how the Niners have started off the 2025 campaign. San Francisco has won all of their games in a similar fashion. They are playing complimentary football, offense, defense, special teams, and they are finding ways to close these games out. They’re coming through in the clutch in order to notch these W’s. Whereas the 49ers in 2024, number one, were not playing complimentary football. Offensively, not the same type of Kyle Shanahan efficient offense. They couldn’t run it, couldn’t throw it. They were bad in the red zone, not great on third downs, and at the end of games, they faltered. On defense, they were just overall terrible. On special teams, one of the worst units in all of football. And San Francisco also when the games were close and they played in a lot of close games a season ago, they found ways to lose those games, they found ways to not close the those games out. And here in 2025, they are finding ways to win them. This is what playoff championship level teams do. And these three wins to start the year are really characterbuilding wins for the NerS. And I think so far two of these wins, week one against Seattle, week three against Arizona, can be looked at as highlevel quality wins for the ners. Seattle looks to be a damn good ball club. And I got to admit, Arizona Cardinals, they’re a legitimate team. And I had warned everybody of this going into last week and saying when you think about the teams in the NFC West, Niners, Seahawks, Rams, they’ve all won Super Bowls somewhat recently, right? Obviously for Seattle a longer time ago, and Arizona hasn’t. They haven’t been to a Super Bowl since like 2009 when Curt Warner was their quarterback. And so they’re always looked at as the joke franchise in this division. Not any longer. I like what Jonathan Ganon is building with the Cardinals. Their defense is really good. Kyler played pretty well yesterday. That game came down to the wire for a reason. That was a matchup between two really solid teams. And when I talk about complimentary football, this is what I mean. This is what we’ve seen all year. This is what we saw yesterday in the Niners home opener. They’re now 3 and 0, I believe, in their last three home openers at Levis’s. You had Eddie Pinero making clutch kicks. the one from 50 plus and of course the gamewinner that’s on special teams. Also on special teams, how about Sky Moore giving the Niners serious juice as a returner. And then on the final game-winning drive put together by M. Jones and Kyle Shanahan. How about Sky Moore catching a pretty big pass. Robert Salah’s defense. On defense, of course, we talked about special teams. They found a way to win without Nick Bosa, who’s right up there with Fred Warner as far as being an elite player, being the leader of that Niners defense, and being almost irreplaceable. He goes out early in the game. I know the Niners pass rush suffered a little bit as far as pressure rate and pass rush win rate, but it’s not like the defense’s performance really fell off a cliff. In fact, they played pretty damn well without Bosa. That doesn’t happen last year when he was out. San Francisco’s defense was terrible. And then you had on offense Kyle Shanahan and M. Jones engineering a really pristine, well-called, welldesigned game-winning drive in which the play calling was great, the execution was great. So too was the time management. And the Niners were getting contributions from all across the roster. That is complimentary football. And when you do that, it gives you a chance to win each and every week. You look across the NFL, some of the bad teams, they’re just so bad in either one phase, two phase, or all three phases. It’s not the case for San Francisco. And so, with that being said, I think 49ers fans should be really excited about the possibilities for San Francisco here in 2025, but also beyond. Now, we knew going into this year the Niners had the easiest schedule in all of football and they returned a lot of marquee players on the offensive side of the pill. And once they get players back from injur comes back from suspension this week, I think the ceiling for this offense is even higher. But on defense, they rebuilt this unit during the offseason, and a lot of young players are having to play and play a lot, but this defense much further along than anybody really anticipated this early in the year. And so, not only do I think the Niners can contend in the NFC this year, but with the youth on this roster adding an influx of young, intriguing talent and depth with this offensive core also in place, with the defensive core really growing, I think the future of this organization is very bright and Niner fans should be elated about that because this is an exciting young ball club right now. And let’s also give credit where credit is due. Give Kyle Shanahan credit for how he coached that game yesterday and how he’s coached and has had his team prepared the last two weeks, including the most important position, quarterback. When you go 2 and 0 in consecutive weeks with the backup quarterback, you will take that every single time. And Kyle Shanahan has had M. Jones ready to play the last two games. He’s played very well throwing for nearly 300 yards in both of those games. And time management, game management hasn’t always been a strong suit for Kyle Shanahan. I really like the way that he managed the end of the game. He elected to keep a timeout for after the two-minute warning, whereas sometimes coaches use all of their timeouts prior to the two-minute warning because the two-minute warning can be a timeout. And the Niners needed that timeout on that game-winning drive to stop the clock to set up the Eddie Pinero game-winning field goal. And then the game-winning drive from M. Jones was pretty much flawless. I really like the play calling and then the screen call and the screen pass to Christian McCaffrey. Welldesigned, well blocked, and it led to a Niners victory. So Kyle Shanahan deserves a lot of credit and fans should be recognizing what he’s done to start the year. It’s also a bonus that he looks revitalized. He looks re-energized. He looks as though he’s having fun again. And with M. Jones, I love redemption stories. M. Jones was sent away, traded away by the New England Patriots. The Patriots couldn’t stand him any longer, so they sent him to the Jacksonville Jaguars. That’s where quarterbacks go to die. And the regime that Mack got traded to, Doug Peterson, Trent Balky, that regime did die. Tombstone Reeds 2024, right? And a lot of people thought that M. Jones’s career was over. But Kyle Shanahan really liked him in the pre-draft process for a reason. He thought he was a good scheme fit. He could play point guard and distribute the ball in this offense. He found eight different receivers against the Saints, seven different receivers yesterday against Arizona. He’s played awesome in the last two games and I think that he has a future potentially as a starter if he can go somewhere else and pair up with a legitimate head coach who runs a legitimate offense. If he has a legitimate play caller in his ear because we’re seeing what he’s able to do with Kyle Shanahan. And I don’t think it’s a fluke like with Nick Mullins and CJ Bethard who Kyle Shanahan also maximized. I actually think Mack is a solid quarterback. throws with touch, can lay your balls in there, throws with anticipation, not a great athlete, but he has a good pocket feel, has a really strong arm, and the twominute drill drive at the end of the first half against the Saints, the game-winning drive against the Cardinals, that’s what elite quarterbacks do. And Mack was able to really pass those tests, respectively, in an impressive fashion. And in the process, I think he’s revived his career because he did sign a two-year deal with the NerS and hopefully he continues to be Brock Pur’s backup. If Pretty gets hurt, you have confidence in Mack. If he goes somewhere else after his Niners career is up, I think that he could be a starter. Shoot, he could be a trade piece after this year. If the Niners think that they can net something good in return for Mack, the game-winning drive, 10 plays, 63 yards against a defense that caused fits for the Niners for most of yesterday. The Niners marched down the field in 63 yards in 146 against that solid defensive unit. Mack was five of eight on the drive passing the ball. And what he did yesterday is what I really liked from Brock Party in week one. They both, Perie and Mack, flushed the bad mistakes, flushed the interceptions, they forgot about it, and they did what they had to do to win the game and put together a game-winning drive. That’s what matters. And for the 49ers to win both games that M. Jones has started, how many other backup quarterback situations are really bad across the NFL? I mean, did you see Jake Browning yesterday against Minnesota? there was no chance the Bengals were winning that game and you knew it right from the start. Whereas with M. Jones, you felt pretty damn good about him being the quarterback for this ball club the last two weeks. Mac’s injury, we saw that he got hurt. He had the brace on, ditched the brace, put the brace back on. He reagravated his PCL injury that he hurt during training camp. The timeline for how long he could be out, it could be one to four weeks. The good news is looks as though Brock Pury could return on Sunday against Jacksonville and so we’ll see on that front. With Mack throwing the ball, there’s also been a constant the last two weeks with who he’s found, but also the first three games of the season. How about the development of Ricky Pieraw? He looks to be a legitimate number one wide out. San Francisco really needed him to make a leap from year one to year two and that leap has happened before our eyes. And obviously Persaw had to deal with a lot as a rookie after getting shot in the chest, but toward the end of the year, you saw signs of him becoming a legitimate player. He had a fantastic training camp and preseason, and he’s parlayed that into an awesome start to the regular season against Arizona. 11 targets, eight catches, 117 yards, 14 and a half yards per catch. Almost all of his catches this year have gone for first downs and they’ve happened on money downs mostly. Really big spots in the game. Kyle Shanahan running him with a lot of deep crossers. His route tree, it’s pretty deep. And how about these numbers from NextGen stats? Ricky Pieraw caught eight passes for a buck 17 against the Cardinals. All of which came with a defender within three yards. He leads all receivers this season with 267 receiving yards in these contested situations, 60 more than any player. So, he’s been closely guarded, yet he’s still been able to come down with the football. And this also shows that his quarterbacks, Party and Mack, have really trusted him. Look at this route chart from Piersaw yesterday. This is Kyle Shanahan being in his bag here. But this is also the depth of the routes that Ricky Pawol can run. We saw it at Arizona State. We saw it at Florida that he’s a good route runner. He can line up inside. He can line up outside. He can beat zone. He can beat press man. He’s got really good footwork, short area quickness, burst and wiggle. And he’s running all types of routes here. And he’s getting open on a lot of them. And Kyle Shanahan has been using Ricky Pieraw as a little bit of a chess piece. And how about this? Among all wide receivers in football, Slick Rick, number three in receiving yards. Guess who’s at number 14? Surprisingly, running back Christian McCaffrey, who’s on pace for more than 1,000 yards as a receiver. Here’s what Trent Williams said about Ricky Pieraw. High praise. I don’t know how that should surprise anybody with what he’s done this year, but his rookie season was derailed by something he couldn’t control. So, it’s a blessing just to see him out there playing the best we’ve seen him play. Obviously, he’s a quarterback safety blanket. Ricky’s a baller and we always knew that from day one. Obviously, it got off to a rough start, but I think he’s going to cement himself as one of the top receivers in the game here soon. Well, that soon has happened because Piersaw already solidifying himself as one of the most productive wide receivers to start the year. I do want to give a shout out to our sponsor, Brunt, for making today’s 49ers report possible. A lot of you don’t know this about me because you always catch me talking ball here on YouTube. I’m in front of the camera on the microphone, but I actually really like woodworking and doing hard jobs. Growing up, my favorite class in high school was wood shop. My favorite jobs were being out in the field in a workshop making things. And so, I really value the work boots that Brunt has to offer. And look, choosing work boots used to mean sacrificing comfort or dur durability. If they felt good, they didn’t last. If they lasted, they wrecked your feet. Brunt thought that was BS. So, they built tough boots that feel great from day one. There’s no breakin. There’s no sore feet because people out there doing the real work shouldn’t have to choose between comfort and durability. I know we have a lot of people who watch this show who have tough jobs. You don’t want your long days to be longer. You want comfortable, durable work boots. And Brunt offers you that. Founder Eric Gerard grew up bluecollar. He started Brunt Workware after his friends in the trades kept telling him that the big brands had stopped listening and hadn’t changed in a hundred years. They had sold out to become fashion brands. His buddies encouraged him to start a brand built for them. And that’s why all Brunt products are named after the guys that he grew up with. real hardworking tradesmen. And I know we have a lot of tradesmen who watch this program. These are no doubt the most comfortable work boots I’ve ever worn. And they felt comfortable right out of the box. No long painful breakin like all those other brands. But they’re not just comfortable, they’re built to perform. Whether you need waterproof, safety toe, soft toe, pull on, or lace up, they’ve got options that can help you with whatever job site you are walking into. I’m telling you, these Brunt boots are incredible. So, Brunt was tired of the workware brands brands out there cutting corners. We work too hard to be stuck in uncomfortable boots that don’t hold hold up. So, Brunt built something better. Boots that are insanely comfortable and built for any job site. Another great takeaway from this Niners win over Arizona and the early goings of the season is that the three defensive linemen who the Ners drafted, who they needed to be impact players right from the jump, are getting better every week. Mike Cal Williams the last two weeks has been a star. Alfred Collins last week against New Orleans showed significant strides from week one and he was on the field for a couple of big downs in that football game at 65330. Really good run stuffer who’s also pushing the pocket. CJ West was in on that play where the Niners nearly brought down Kyler Murray for that safety. Mike Williams able to shake a double team early in the game and throw down the ball carrier with violence for a TFL. All these players are different in their own ways, but all these players have the same goal. They have the same mentality. They have the same play style. They play violent. They play physical. And they’re all improving, which is a great great sign for the future of this 49ers defense in 2025 and beyond. And these 49ers rookies are going to have to step up if Nick Bosa is out for a long time. Now, we’re not sure what the diagnosis is for Bosa. Kyle Shanahan’s going to talk at some point today, and Bosa is going to undergo an MRI, and the Niners are going to try to find out what exactly is going on in that knee. In case you missed it, this was the play where Bosa got hurt. And you can tell that the base beneath him is just in an awkward spot. He gets doubleteamed here. kind of got table topped by two Arizona Cardinals offensive linemen. And you can see with that left knee with where the body is going, with where the leg and the knee is. He just got bent the wrong way fell very awkwardly. Bosa did go off the field, went to the sideline. He’s laying on his back, hands over his face. He went into the medical tent. Then there was this image on the Fox broadcast of him looking into the stands and he gave a thumbs down to whoever he was looking at. Now Nick Bosa has a history with ACL’s. He tore his ACL in 2020 after a great rookie year from him in the 2019 NFL draft in which he was a great rookie and a rookie starter for that Niners defense that made it to the Super Bowl. And so for him who knows his body very well and him who takes really good care of his body to be showing the thumbs down and not be feeling good after what had happened. It’s a little bit of a concern. Now Kyle Shanahan said a bunch of things after the game about Nick Bosa’s injury. Initial testing on the sideline didn’t offer a certain ACL injury for Nick Bosa. Now what they do, he goes into the blue medical tent. they feel around that ACL, but Kyle Shanahan said that hasn’t been ruled out and there is still concern there about a potential serious knee issue. And I don’t like to see stuff like this. Jennifer Lee Chan tweeted this out. Trent Williams told me he did speak to Nick Bosa after the game. The left tackle and the team are hoping for the best, but they described it as a buzzkill. Now, this tells me that Trent Williams went up to Nick Bosa and he’s like, “Dude, what happened? Is it something serious?” and Bosa probably said something along the lines of it not being good right at the very least. So, while the initial test might show that the ACL is intact, there’s a lot of things that can go wrong inside that knee. MCL, PCL, meniscus, it could be a sprained ACL, a partial ACL tear. If Nick Bos is out for a long time, that is a huge, huge, huge loss for this 49ers defense. They have been able or they were yesterday able to really make do without Bosa and survive without him for three and a half quarters. Surviving without Nick Bosa for potentially the rest of the year, not good. And then you have to wonder, should San Francisco trade for a player like Trey Hendrickson? So, let’s all put together a prayer circle for Nick Bosa. I tweeted this out on my ex page, chase senior. And let’s hope to the football gods that finally the football gods and the health gods can be on the side of the niner here. I love watching Nick Bosa play football. He had gotten off to a terrific start. He does have a little bit of an injury history. Obviously, that’s a concern. He’s making a lot of money, but this is a highlevel player who’s one of the top players across the NFL, and him being out for a long time would really suck for San Francisco. As for the NFC West standings, isn’t it nice to wake up to this on a Monday morning? Niners had topped the division 3-0. Rams lost yesterday to the Eagles. They got outscored uh 26 unanswered points by Philadelphia. They were up 26 to9 and lost the game. Cardinals lose to the 49ers, of course, and then the Seattle Seahawks. They’ve won two games in a row. Impressive win on the road against Pittsburgh. And then they absolutely shellacked the New Orleans Saints uh at home yesterday. I mean, it was a molly whopping. These are the 3 and 0 teams across the NFL. Niners, Eagles, Bucks, all in the NFC. And then in the AFC, Chargers, Bills, Colts, the Niners needed to get off to a good start. They’ve gotten off to a good start here in 2025. I want to hear from you. If you want another 49ers report video later on today, type one more down in the comments section. IT'S A VICTORY MONDAY! If you're pumped up about this 49ers win…LIKE the video!
Losing Bosa for the season is not good.
The best pickup in the off season was Robert Saleh.
we need to deal with strength and conditioning coaches and cut out pre-season games
Losing bosa in week 3 doesn't feel like such a victory anymore ๐ข
Bosa out for the season
Don't be so quick to say we're getting guys back, when their still dropping like fly's.
This injury thing is not over I'm sure!!
Losing Bosa is HUGE!!!
HAVE TO BE PASS RUSH BY COMMITY from now on.
Bring up GIBSON NOW!
ANY GOOD DE's out there right now in free agency??? ๐ฎ
WINNERS ๐๐๐๐๐. I'LL PUT THE SIX TROPHY UP WHEN WE WIN IT THIS YEAR
Sky Moore giving 49ers serious juice as a returner? ๐๐๐ Did I miss a couple of games this season?
Season OVER
No Bosa, no playoffs
John Lynch, Mike Shanahan might as well get ready to make a trade from one of these teams itโs not doing too good a pass rusher make that trade
Kyle is not stressed anymore we have a kicker!!!!!!!
Don't doubt me on this we are going undefeated this year, been calling this on here since July and also on the Krueger and Lombardi shows, revenge tour go NINERS
Were in this rebuild thanks to shany. Hes not a good head coach. Top offensive coordinator though. Much would perfer Saleh
Not happy with team ACL every year
The defense is for real! Saleh is a god
how do you replace Nick Bosa…George Kittle…Kyle Juszczyk… and on …
That is incorrect information, you stated: "The Niners are 3-0 for the fist time since 2000? Look at the Niners 2019 Schedule, 8-0 to start the Season!
Well as i recall defense did good after Bosa left the game, so don't give up niner gang, onwards we goโ๏ธโ๏ธโ๏ธ
That's a lie Chase Sr about being winning the first 3 games undefeated we started the 2023 with 5 straight wins.then lose 3 straight to Cleveland and the Vickes and Baltimore.
No time to wait. We need to reach for Trey Hendrickson from Cincinnati Bengals- since Burrows is out for the season, Hendrickson would come with a cap hit of about $18.7 million and probably worth it. Thoughts?
Feels great to finally have a kicker! ๐๐พ๐๐พ๐๐พ
Not 2000, start last 3-0 2023
Yeah finally find a good back up and your already talking him leaving. How about lets try to keep him for once as a good backup QB so we aren't in these terrible situations we always get in.
Werenโt the niners 3-0 in 2023?
Great show Chase. I'm never at a loss for words but your show today said it all. One note, even with Kittle out, we have to get our TE involved. Not until the game winning drive yesterday. Also, Brian Robinson looks fresh. lets give him some work and rest CMC more than a play. We need CMC for the long run. ๐ฏ๐ฏ๐ซก๐ซก
No QB? A lot of injuries. R has just Pearsall and Tonges who have stepped up mind you. CMac fills the Deebo space. OL still worries me. I have seen a couple of Block plays involving McKivitz, so at least he is sort of earning his pay.. DL looks beat up. Bosa out, Malik O, why Huff over Sam O? Salah has shown an improvement in the D I must admit. Secondary still looks flaky, maybe Stout most improved part of that area as Brown sinks and stinks. Hats off to Pineiro, confidence and precision. I know there 3-0 but they are all squeakers! Who have they played? Arizona and Saints..Big deal.. Seattle ok. For the Eagles and Chiefs caliber teams they still have their work cut out for them. I think Shanahan likes to develop players in his own way/style not get a big trade player. Lastly Mac J plays good, veteran style, good footwork and technique. Again who's the QB next week? Looks like Mac will be back in with Purdy as emergency backup as he is day to day.
I think they should move Bryce Huff to where Nick was or swap Mykel to the right side and put Bryce on the left. Bryce and Mykel looked good when Nick went out.
What, the 49ers have injuries I can't believe this๐๐๐๐๐
We started 3-0 in 2023 and 2019?
