Kansas City Chiefs Get GREAT News Ahead Of NFL Week 4 Matchup With Ravens

[Music] How’s it going, Chiefs fans? We’ve got a loaded show for you today featuring some great news on our week four matchup with the Baltimore Ravens. Coming out of their Monday Night Football game against the Detroit Lions. So, here’s what’s on the plate today. Outside of that, we’ve got a couple major injury updates to discuss on Xavier Worthy and Jaylen Royals in particular. We’re going to talk about an issue I think Kansas City has been facing over its last couple games in the special teams department. And then of course, we’ve got what I promised you off the top, that great news on our matchup with the Ravens. So, let’s get started with the injury updates on our receivers. Obviously, both Xavier Worthy and Jaylen Royals did not play in our week three game against the New York Giants. It was expected that Jaylen Royals would make his season debut and also NFL career debut in New York. However, Andy Reid made some statements on both of them to the media yesterday. Here’s what he had to say about Xavier. It just wasn’t right. Between Xavier and the doctors and so on, we thought it was best he didn’t play. So, pretty simply stated on Xavier Worthy, not really that much to it. Just isn’t ready to go. But we will discuss more on him in just one second. Here’s what he had on Jaylen though. A lot more here. Jaylen just came back. I had him there as kind of an emergency in case we absolutely needed him. His first week of practice in a month was last week and he’s a rookie. This was really his first game suiting up. He’ll continue to work in there. It’s great to have him back. So, on Jaylen, I don’t think we really need to be concerned. This was exactly what I was hoping to hear about this situation. I know I had him in our last show as a loser from our week three game because he didn’t play any snaps and he was expected to. But if that’s going to be the case, this is exactly why you would hope that would be. There is a plan for Jaylen Royals right now. He just isn’t 100% ready. He was active in case of emergency. However, with Xavier Worthy, I’m left a little confused. And I got to be honest with you guys, I learned a lot about torn labrooms this weekend. So Xavier Worthy, if you’re not familiar, was dealing with a dislocated shoulder and a torn labroom, specifically a slap tear of the labreum. And that’s pretty fun to say, but it absolutely is not fun to deal with. According to John’s Hopkins Medical, a slap tear or a tear of the labum near the bicep tendon attachment may be just trimmed or may need to be reattached to the top of the socket. The best way to do this is with arthoscopic surgery since this area is difficult to reach with an open operation through a large incision. They continue using the arthoscope and small incisions for other instruments. The labreum can be reattached to the rim of the socket using either sutures or tacks. And that’s a lot of fancy medical mumbo jumbo to essentially say Worthy’s tear isn’t going to get any better without surgery, which would end his entire season. We do not want that. He doesn’t want that. The Chiefs do not want that. So, if he isn’t going to get this surgery, it is simply a matter of pain management from here. It’s a matter of whether or not Worthy feels 100% comfortable playing with the pain. And he’s just going to have to get to that point because it likely isn’t going to get any less painful. That’s just the nature of a torn labroom. It doesn’t heal on its own without that arthoscopic surgery. So, let’s talk timelines for both of these guys. I expect Jaylen Royals to play some snaps against Baltimore. That does appear to be the plan. They seem to be ramping him up. That would be what Andy Reid has indicated. If he doesn’t, we’re going to have to come back to a conversation about where Jaylen truly is on this depth chart. Xavier Worthy, on the other hand, it’s just going to be practice status dependent at this point. If he’s still limited in practice, it’s hard to see him playing on the field in a full game until he can be a full participant in practice. And we haven’t seen that yet. And obviously, the Chiefs are not practicing today. Tuesday in the NFL is a rest day. So, we’ll see tomorrow where Xavier Worthy is and I’ll be coming at you guys with a short. So, make sure you subscribe so you do not miss that. Be very key information there. Those injuries, they’ve been a major issue for us all season long. And unfortunately, we’ve got another issue to discuss, guys. The Chiefs may have a major problem in the special teams department, but I want to hear from you first. What do you guys think on this one? What is the biggest issue facing the Kansas City Chiefs right now? Is it our kicking, which we’re going to talk about in a minute? Is it the offensive line and the penalties that we’ve had from Jawan Taylor especially? Let me know in the comments what you think because I think Harrison Butker may be a problem right now. He is three for five on extra points, 7 for9 on field goals, and of those field goals, both of those misses were from beyond 40 yards. And it’s not just in this season that he’s had some issues. He’s 5 for9 from beyond 50 yards in his last 18 games. That’s just barely over 50%. And 2025 has been a year where we have seen some fantastic, fantastic kicker play. On Monday night, Jake Bates almost hit from 67 yards. That would have set the NFL record. He totally had the leg for it. He was just a little wide. And kickers in 2025 across the NFL have attempted 107 field goals from beyond 40 yards and have hit 85 of those. That’s a nearly 80% success rate. From beyond 40 right now, Harrison Bucker is operating at a 66% rate. That is well below league average and well below acceptable. In my opinion, Harrison Bucker has to get this figured out in a hurry. I don’t think they’ll make a mid-season replacement unless things go incredibly south in this situation, but we can’t afford for these missed kicks to continue to be an issue throughout the season. It’s just not acceptable right now. Something I do have figured out though at this point, prize picks is the best place to make your lineups this season. And we’re going to get back to one of our other issues in just a second. But first, I want to show some love to today’s sponsor. You and I make decisions every day, but on Prize Picks, being right can get you paid. Don’t miss any of the excitement this season on Prize Picks, where it’s good to be right. And guys, I have got a crazy lineup rolling this week. This one has a 28 times multiplier on it. We’ve got the max discount on Jaylen Herz. That’s totally free. We’ve got one and a half rushing touchdowns from Cam Scataboo. We need to get two on that one. And then we need Jackson Dart to throw an interception in his debut and Bejian Robinson to keep it rolling. Get some receiving yards for us. So, you can tail me, you can fade me on that lineup. Prize picks where it’s good to be right. So, let’s get into the good news that I promised you guys coming out of the week four ma or week three matchup, excuse me, between the Lions and the Ravens. And I think something we’ve seen from Baltimore over the last couple games and something that we have rarely seen in the career of Derrick Henry is a massive, massive fumbling problem. You see all three of these I put this collage together actually and I I think it’s quite beautiful. All three of these fumbles were or two of them were critical in the fourth quarter. That one against the Bills loses them the game. That gave Buffalo an opportunity to go right down the field win there. And then that one against Detroit last night, if you didn’t see, lost them an opportunity to go win that game. The one against the Cleveland Browns was recovered by Tylen Wallace. But I think when you look at all of this, I tweeted out today, my fiance asked me if the dishes were done and I yelled, “Derk Henry.” She hugged me. She knew they were washed. Obviously, I’m joking a little bit, but Dererick Henry has been struggling. And it hasn’t just been a fumbling issue. And if you go on Twitter and like and retweet that, I am going to follow back every single one of the Chiefs fans that I see do that. So, engage with me on Twitter. I’m always tweeting about Kansas City. So, let’s hang out there. But back to Derrick Henry, it does seem like he’s finally lost a step. Maybe father time is finally catching up to him. He had an excellent week one, but in weeks two and three, things have gone the entire other direction. We’ve got some stats here for you. 23 carries for Henry over that stretch. Pretty good workload. Just 73 yards, averaging 3.1 yards per carry. And of course, he’s got the two fumbles as well. one of which was recovered and the other of which lost them the game against the Detroit Lions. And he has fumbled in every single game this season twice in the fourth quarter. But there’s some more issues for him as well. Let’s go advanced stats here. Let’s get a little advanced and talk about his average yards after contact. Something he does exceptionally well throughout his career. Career average of 3.6 yards after contact. We all know him as King Henry, the guy who just runs through tackles. But this year, less than two yards after contact. And I know that doesn’t seem like a massive gap, 3.6 to 1.9, but it is. Every carry that is two yards less per for Derrick Henry. And miss tackles forced. Another way he gets extra yardage, he has just four through three games this season. When you go back to last season, he had 87 for the entire year. that paces him to five for every single game. So, he’s having a harder time running through tackles this season and creating that extra yardage that makes him so valuable. And I think that’s a big key for our defense is to limit his opportunities to do that when we play the Ravens in week four. If we can keep them out of those third and short situations where he can be so devastating, limit his effectiveness on first and second down, I think we can have a lot of success against Baltimore because their running game has not been something they’ve been able to lean on this season, especially when you think about Derrick Henry. And another thing that we absolutely have to discuss in this game and we’re not celebrating injuries at all. I think these are very unfortunate things that happened to two key players for the Baltimore Ravens. But you absolutely have to acknowledge the importance that Isaiah likely and Namdi Matabke may not play in our week four matchup. I was talking to our Baltimore Ravens host Joey Peterson today and he told me he views Isaiah likely as questionable. There is definitely a chance they have their star tight end out there. He’s fantastic if you’re not familiar with him. Not to compliment the opponent too too much. And Nambdi Matabke he however views as much more doubtful. Matabke is dealing with a pretty serious neck injury. We don’t have a ton of details about that situation at this time, but Joey was telling me not to expect to see Matabke and that is a huge positive for us. As unfortunate as it is that Matab is not going to be playing from that sense. Obviously, we’d love to see him out there continuing his successful career. If there’s one game he’s got to miss, pretty happy that it’s ours cuz interior pressure has been a massive issue for the Kansas City Chiefs this year. We’ve allowed 15 of our 35 pressures to come via the interior against the Eagles and the Giants. And if you’re familiar with pass rushing statistics, 40% of your pressure should not be coming up the middle. Typically, the best pressure or pass rushers on a defense are the edge rushers, not the interior guys. Typically, that’s going to be the source of the vast majority of your pressure. So, our interior offensive line has to take advantage of Nambdi Matab not being there. We have to be able to assert ourselves in the passing and running game. We have to be able to protect Patrick Mahomes, create rushing lanes for Isaiah Pacheco and Kareem Hunt, and establish the ground game, something we finally started to do in New York, but has been a major struggle this season, and I wouldn’t really give them props for the effort that they showed in York. That’s a bad defense for the most part, and we still couldn’t really get it going. But we’re going to have a lot more week for content for you guys this week. So, make sure you hit that subscribe button and I will see you guys next time. Let’s go Chiefs. [Music]

  1. Every defense we play. Butler usually hits 4 outta 5 55+ yards. He's always misses kicking extra points since he came to the Chief's. Now he couldn't hit the broad side of a barn in every kick this year. Time to grab someone off a couch!

  2. An explosive/dynamic RB to complement the 2025 offense. I think Mitchell and Smith need an opportunity to show what they can do. The WR room has help on the way while a RT change should be forthcoming!

    Go Chiefs! Beat the Ravens!
