Not really sure what to make of that statement.
Even if this is the case per the new CBA, wouldn’t another team be limited to giving him just 6 years?
Can’t the Wild effectively give him two extra years at whatever number? Even if another team gives him the absolute Max that’s still gonna be less than what the Wild can pay him in total dollars. Unless he thinks someone’s gonna up the anti when he’s in his 30s after taking a shorter term deal.
I dunno- if Kap is holding out so he can walk- oooooh not a good look- he’d instantly become the most hated man in State of Hockey history.

Honestly, I’d be more surprised to learn that tampering never occurs.
this will end in nothing because agents are smart and won’t ever say, not even privately, “I have a 18×7 deal in place with team X if you walk from Minnesota”. At best, and that’s pushing, they’ll say “You know the cap is going up, I think you can get more money next season in free agency”.

The feelings between this and 92-93 gut wrenching are WAY TOO similar, with each passing day disgust grows towards both ends.
