Aaron Rodgers Media Availability (Sept. 24) | Pittsburgh Steelers
ways is the offense. I think certain guys are uh are starting to feel comfortable in the offense. I mean, not 30. He’s been comfortable since day one. He’s been uh been a big playmaker for us, but I think guys are feeling more comfortable with what Arthur’s trying to do and uh we’ve done a good job in the red zone. Uh just got to get more opportunities down there. I know this is a business trip, but what are you looking forward to about going over to Ireland, Kennis? Guinness on tap is my favorite beer in the world. I don’t really drink beer. If you had said the team that drinks together, rins together. Yeah. Is have you tried to incorporate that more? I’m not going to tell you that. Erin, after the game, you had said, you know, you didn’t play well. Now that you’ve had a chance to actually watch the film, just what do you see out out of your play? Uh, I can play better for sure. Um, you know, it’s just about sometimes you just have to take what the defense gives you and be comfortable with that. Uh, some of our best plays is just getting the ball into our playmakaker hands and letting them go. So, I just need to be uh disciplined like I usually am and uh get the ball to the guys. Aaron, what’s the chess match like with the floor defense? Well, they’re going to bring pressure at some point and you have to have uh some ideas to combat that. So, you got to expect it. They do a good job disguising. Everything looks the same. So, uh you know, you don’t want them to get going and sack you a bunch and and play behind the sticks. Have you learned anything about overseas trips that benefits you how you handle it and prepare? I’d love to go over Monday. I have a full week over there. You got a by-week afterwards. Obviously, the NFL put a kibash to that supposedly, but this game means a lot to all of us, to the league, to the Rooney family. Um, so we want to represent the team and, uh, the Rooney legacy well, but, uh, it’s great for the game to grow the game in so many countries. Um, so being a part of the first game in Ireland is pretty cool. Um, I have Irish heritage, so very uh excited to get out there. And, uh, as far as the travel goes, it is what it is. You got to suck it up on Friday and stay awake all day. You do that, you should be feeling pretty good Saturday. Aaron Mike T said yesterday that he thinks teams are starting to develop at this point of the season, teams are starting to develop their personality. Y’all be in that group. And what do you what how do you see this team, this offense’s personality games? It’s a work in progress for sure. Uh, you know, we’re we’re getting used to to Arthur and how he sees the game and and playing with me and uh you know, we’re figuring it out. It hasn’t been the prettiest at times, but uh good thing is our defense played the way they want to play last week and we made just enough plays to win. So, at this point, it’s about winning. The chemistry is there, the continuity, the belief in each other is there. It’s just going out and executing, feeling better about ourselves on offense. Two games ago, Calvin made a mistake in the end zone. It cost you guys a big point. This week, he makes the big play. You went to him. What does that say about his accountability? Uh, your belief in him. What are your thoughts on that? Well, he’s he’s a great kid. He reminds me a lot of Aaron Jones, who is one of my all-time favorite teammates. Uh, disposition wise. You know, both Jonesy and Calvin are very positive, happy guys. They want to please. They want to do the right thing all the time. Uh they’re very accountable and uh Calvin just has a an incredible play speed. So, I felt good about the matchup on third down with the game on the line and he made an incredible play. So, he knows I got a lot of confidence in him. Would love to get the ball to him and DK uh a lot more. But, uh the way teams are playing us, we’ve had to be a little more patient. We’re trying to run the ball. I think we we made some improvement in that in that uh phase last week, but there’s a lot more improvement uh room for improvement. Is it simply a matter of staying on the field more for getting DK and and the rest of the tight ends and receivers more opportunities? Yeah, I mean, we only threw the ball 23 times. 24 I ran the ball one time. You know, we had no sacks, but I had to do some throwaways. Um and we just didn’t have enough guys um open, I think, at times. So, you know, we just got to we got to get open. We I got to make the plays that are there and we got to convert on third down to keep us on the field. You said that throw to Kelvin was you you said you didn’t like the throw. It wasn’t a good throw. But sometimes you go back and watch it and you feel better about it. I’m still not crazy about it, but I It was better than it felt on the field. It looked like a perfect back shoulder throw though to the untrained eye. Yeah. But he was like two and a half yards in front of him. You had talked um I think it was a week or so ago about more red zone opportunities, but when you’re down there, you’ve converted all one. How do you feel? What What’s the reason for this? Should have been all but all, right? Yeah. Yeah. Uh well, I think Arch’s done a good job dialing some stuff up and then we’ve made some plays, you know, contested catches, tight window throws. Uh we had a nice scheme last week. We got down there close off the PI on Darnell uh getting Kenya on the edge. So, it’s it’s scheme that has got some guys open. You look at the Jets game. You know, I didn’t do a whole lot on the Jonner touchdown, on the Jaylen touchdown. Just trying to not mess it up. Hard to mess up a little pop pass, you know, but uh you know, it’s a combination of of scheme and then execution. We’ve done a good job of both. Aaron, you’ve had three games with this helmet, I guess. Uh I guess how what’s your level of comfortability? Yeah, I hate it. Hate it. Hate it. I mean, I wore this last the one last year. had no concussions, some arbitrary ruling that makes it obsolete now. Silly. I should have pushed it more. Just petition the league to let me wear it again. One more time. Is it just a feel thing in terms of the hate? Is it just it just does it just feel weird on your head or aesthetics too? Looks terrible. Looks terrible. I saw a picture of myself. They put a graphic up because I, you know, passed far for fourth and it was a picture of me from like 2012. I said, “Look at that.” Just helmet fits perfect. Tiny little ear pads, face masks in the perfect spot. Yeah. Erin, what was it like crossing forward? Yeah, I mean, uh, I learned a lot from Brad in those three years. Brad obviously played long time. Uh, I’ve played a long time. It’s kind of a longevity longevity record. passing. As far as go, you’re obviously very familiar with the Vikings, but this year they have a much different team, especially on defense, the other Rogers, those two big picks. Just what do you see out of this defense and what what’s going to make it difficult for you? Uh, well, I mean, it’s it’s Flo’s defense. He’s a phenomenal coach. Uh, he was here a few years ago and, uh, you know, it’s good to see him, uh, you know, in a position of leadership. I feel like, you know, he hopefully, I mean, probably should at some point get another head coaching job based on the way that he’s coached defense the last couple years because the schemes they run and the way they’re coached. Uh there’s uh a lot of really good chemistry and continuity on that side. It doesn’t just come from uh from players. There’s a schematic part of that that’s that’s really impressive. Um and then the players obviously make it go once the call is is made. And you have veteran guys, you have uh guys who can do different things like their three, you know, outside guys, 58, 15, and 43, who can all drop into coverage and be effective. Rush the pass. The passer extremely effective. You got my old buddy Harrison, you know, running around, uh, disguising, a couple really good corners, a great corner can come and play nickel. Uh, couple great inside guys. So, there’s not there’s not any holes on the defense and they can throw a lot of stuff at you. Erin, uh, when you were weighing what you were going to do this year during the offseason, there were reports out there that you maybe had it out that Minnesota was on table at some point, was that ever, you know, did you ever engage with anything with them? Was there was there ever any, you know, a chance that that might have happened? Well, I’ve addressed that already. Um, but I’ll just reiterate that Kevin and I have been friends since 2008. Uh we used to work out together at a little place called Fitness Quest 10 out in uh uh North County San Diego. So I’ve known him forever. We’ve been friends forever and we keep in touch. He’s one of the guys I keep in touch with. Um things never progressed as you know farther than uh catchup conversations and uh I’ll just leave it at

Let's go arod
Let's go STEELERS Here We Go STEELERS Here We Go
i could listen to his analysis on game all day… He would be a great coach
Protect this man!!! Let’s get the ball down field. Hit DK!
250 passing yards and 3 tuds! 2 for DK
You should have a Guinness with Big Ben, A A Ron. He's going over there too with the fam and a bunch of Hof/ old school Steeler greats.
Open up the offense, Coach Fraud! You're regulating the offense like we still have Kenny Pickett at QB.
Here We Go Steelers 🚀🚀🚀
That my QB1 lets show the vikings who we are! HERE WE GO
That’s my QB 💪🏾
At this point is anyone else having second feelings on Arthur Smiths play calling and Teryl Austin’s play calling ?
The vikings will be a big test for the steelers
Shouldve asked him when they gonna fire oline coach
Let's goooo
Go Steelers ❤
A weak offense line, a old ass quarterback Rodgers that can not run anymore and the highest paid defense in the league that is letting their opponents put up a lot of points!! No running game!! They are lucky they are 2-1. Then i have seen people calling Tomlin and Rodgers the GOAT!! LOL.
Aaron found his joy again in football. Love to see it.
does Broderick Jones not have hip or knee joints? why can't he bend down? LOL
Now we have 2 things in common Aaron. Apollo and Guinness on tab!
Lets go Steelers…protect ARod
Tomlin should’ve kept Flores and let Austin do something else, Flores’s scheme with our personnel would be historic for real
Steelers fans are delusional. They are going to stink for a long time. 46 years I'm done.
If we play Vikings like the patriots we gonna get dog walked cuz the Vikings not gonna be sloppy with the ball,, the patriots was moving the ball with ease if it wasn’t for the turnovers
We can’t run or stop the run who will ever thought that bout the Steelers
We got not running game so the play don’t exist
can we please get better questions?
I’m an Aaron Rodgers fan. I feel so bad that he ‘drank the Mike Tomlin kool aid’ and joined this team with the obvious expectations he had. This team stinks. The coaching is even worse. The only bright spot is this man making something out of nothing… especially in the red zone. If he woulda waited a little longer he would probably be starting this week for the team we are playing against.
Smooth, all Aron Rogers needs is good blocking and D.K.to get open.❤🌟👍🏉🇺🇲
