And going against him is Aaron Hublin for the Pittsburgh Penguins. And Heland wins it. Sends his puck back inside of the Blue Jackets. Brendan Smith is there first. Getting pressured from behind. Loses the puck. The Penguins with a shot from the right wing circle and they score. Keeping the Blue Jackets from really being able to to get anything put together. And uh now they capitalize with a goal. Zack Galant gets it. Now here come the Penguins back up the ice and into the Blue Jacket zone. Try to pass it into the slot area again. That one is broken up. Follow-up chance from just inside the blue line by Jack St. Ivan. He went high. Blue Jackets will clear the zone. But the Penguins again, they are right there. And that’s the other thing that you’re battling for if you’re a player in either one of these camps. Um, if you don’t break camp with the NHL club, you want to make sure that your name’s at the top of the list the first time that there’s an opportunity. Here are the Penguins trying to create a twoon-one down low and they draw a penalty in the meantime. Reeves didn’t get that. It was Brendan Smith that was hit with that puck as the shot was taken by Aiden Mcdana. Back out to the blue line it goes. St. Ivan looking on the right wing side. Pittsburgh sets it up. They continue to hold it. Skated toward the middle down to the bottom of the right wing circle. Throw it in front. Mcdana trying to bang it home and Jet Greavves says no to that. Thomas trying to get it back on the near wall. Put it to the blue line. Shot toward the net is blocked by Brendan Smith. And then Smith goes right over to challenge Aiden Mcdana. Knock the puck off of him, but a shot from the blue line. Missed the Blue Jackets’s net. Penguins get it down to the bottom of the right wing circle. It bounces away and Brendan Smith again is there to make the right play and get it out to the neutral zone to Adam Fantelli. Now he’s back into the Penguin zone on the right wing boards. Traded off to Jake Christensen. Jake comes down the right wing side. Takes a shot. The save was made. Jenner was there looking for the rebound, but it bounced away from him. Now to Dante Fabro back in the direction of Chinoikov and Penguin’s got a stick in there not once but twice. Brazo got that done. Chicov will bring it back and he takes a shot and he scores. Diego Chinoikov who’s got that lethal wrist shot. just let it go from the inside the top of the left wing circle and the Blue Jackets have tied this game at one. Undangerous right there. I mean, they battle for the puck, they lose the battle, they go out to the neutral zone. He gets it back and then they leave him unchecked and he’s able to get a look at the net. It’s he and Sheilops going one-on-one from a distance as well. And that’s where uh Chinoikov can really crank that thing up again. He’s so good at entering the zone. And he’ll put it on the right side of Charlie Coyle. Back to Johnson. Tried to return the favor, but he’ll get it back anyway. Puts it in front. Veronov with the shot. Sheils with the save on that one. Charlie Coyle digging it free. 10 seconds left in the period. The Penguins get the puck. They Blake Lazot. Connor Der, the penalty killers for the Pittsburgh Penguins. Monahan losing the faceoff and Caleb Jones will send the Blue Jackets back inside their own zone. getting over there and just taking away the space. And now the Blue Jackets jam it down low and unable to put it in the net was Boone Jenner. Marenko will now fire one from the left wing circle back to Kent Johnson who goes across the ice in the right wing circle and they get it back to the middle and a bouncing puck and Sheiloff is going to find it. He is shooting the puck a lot and that really hasn’t been his strong suit here. Charlie Coyle leaving the puck for Christensen out at the blue line. Bet he shoots it here. He does. and he scores. That’s exactly what I was talking about. The confidence that Jake Christensen has in his shot right now. And he gives the Blue Jackets their first lead of the game. It’s two to one. Said he’s playing third pair last year. 68 games he played. He was playing third pair with David Severson or Erica Branson, whoever happened to be over there. And coming into this camp, there are guys like he could easily be seen as a seven guy who’s got to fight for a position. Well, if that’s the case, guess what? He’s putting up a pretty good fight. [Music] 453 the time of that goal of one of the Penguins. And that was Aaron Hugland that got in the way of that one. And now Pittsburgh coming on the counterattack themselves. Mcdana with a shot. Save is made by Jed Greavves. Blue Jackets couldn’t clear the zone. skate in the summertime with those guys and you don’t get better, I think something’s wrong with you. And he has definitely gotten better. The Penguins take a shot and Jet Greavves is there to make the save. Out to the blue line it goes. The Blue Jackets get their man back. Balotest is on the ice. The Penguins have the puck left wing circle with a shot. That one got blocked. Comes to the near wall now. Put back to the blue line and St. Ivan shot finds the glove. Things are written so formal. I can’t read them formal. I can’t I I mean, you know, exclusive amenities. What does that mean? That means cool stuff you’re not going to get somewhere else. Very simple. Penguins right now inside of the Blue Jagged zone. Down by a goal. Two to one the score. Blake Lazard with a shot. And that one was intended for Jack St. Ivan to tip on the left wing side. The defenseman was pinched again. He did get a stick on it, but he didn’t get it on net. Blue Jackets trying to clear it out. Penguins knock down that clearing attempt and they hold it at the blue line. Set it back behind the net. Penguins getting a push right here. Connor Der put it in front and that one was dipped right in on Jed Gre Sarinsky. And I’m thinking to myself, you know, these guys have played together before in a National Hockey League game. And that seems like so long ago as the Penguins break in and don’t get a shot on goal. And the reason being Dante Fabro takes his man to the ice. Didn’t have the personnel that they have now. And it is just completely different. Macau playing a fourthline role in this game. He’s been away from pressure. Has Ben Kindle. Back to Jones. Looks to the right wing side. Coyan on the half wall doesn’t have a shot. Feeds Jones. He’ll take a shot and he just missed the net. Mark Andre Flurry of course retired after last year. I might put quotes around that because here he is again appearing. He retired at the end of the regular season. Then he showed up in the World Championships to play for Canada. And now here he’s going to play for Pittsburgh. Fed it to Der and his shot went wide. Penelli goes over to put the body on him. Luca falls down to the ice. Penguins have the puck. They push it left wing side. They’ve got some room. They walk in and take a shot. That one is denied by Jet Greavves. The Penguins do have the puck and they push it back through center ice and into the Blue Jagger zone. Over on the far wall, Ben Kindle put it over to the top of the left wing circle. Sebastian Aaho with a shot. For real Marenko on the left wing board, center point now. Warreny, he’ll play it back to Marenko. Now Monahan back to Carill and Marenko took the shot from the left wing circle. He immediately trades it left side to Carill Marenko. Back to Warren. Doesn’t shoot it. Slides it down to Kent Johnson. Back to Oransky. Give to Marchenko with a one-timer and Philip Marson makes a save. Zack will get it back. Plays it bottom of the left wing circle to Marchenko. That puck almost rolled away from him. He had a hurry to get it back under control. Kent Johnson now in the right wing circle. Goes to the high slot. Johnson holding, shooting, and he scores. Kent Johnson just picked his spot, fired it. And the Blue Jackets with a five on three power play goal have taken a three to one lead. When I look at a replay, I’m sure I’m going to have the uh I’m assuming Boon was screening the goalie and absolutely he was. No doubt about it. And he did such a great job of it. And Kent Johnson wanted Boon Jenner to know that he noticed that he got right over there and fist bumped him right after the score. So it’s now five on four for a minute and 5 seconds. Pittsburgh up into the Blue Jagged zone. Kyvenan comes to the front of the net. The backhanded shot is denied by Jet Greavves once again. Again, Pittsburgh got the first goal of this game. The Blue Jackets have taken care of them ever since. And Jet Greavves does it again off the backand now. An outlet pass up the left wing side. Philip Thomasino’s got it. And Thomasino got bumped there by Dante Fabro. Fabro though fell down. Penguins keep it in the zone. They take a shot. Save made. Great effort by Jet Gre into the Blue Jacket zone around behind the net. Plays it off the wall to the blue line. Caleb Jones holding back to Lazot turns takes a shot. Save made. There’s a rebound. Connor Der couldn’t get it on net. But the fact that Denil Terasoff made him. No, I mean I’m not surpris I I think Denil Terasoff and even though the the time ended here as the Penguins take a shot and Jet Greavves scoops it up. Look, wear shorts to practice every day. Nothing wrong with that. Yes. Here are the Penguins taking a shot. Save made. Rebound. Another save by Jet Greaves and the Blue Jackets cleared beyond the blue line. Well, Jet turned aside two of them right there. Penguins have come back to even the Blue Jackets in shots on goal at 21 a piece now. And they’re on the power play. They pulled the Goender and the Blue Jackets send it the length of the ice and hit the empty net. Dante Fabro gets the job done, scoring at 1656. Penguins on the power play for another minute and 9 seconds. Unassisted goal by Fabro as Christensen will now send the puck down the ice. Boy, that one took a wicked short hop on Philip. That one gets knocked down. The Penguins have got it again and a wrist shot goes in on Greavves. He couldn’t find the rebound. His teammates did. Here’s another opportunity and Greavves slides out to cut down the angle on Sebastian Aaho and stop his shot. The Penguins put it back in the crease and Jet. Well, when you go out and you make a play like that, it changes the whole thing. When you go out and you attack, it changes the whole look for the shooter. And you could be a smaller guy, but James Malesta, he’ll play it down the ice. And I got two words for you. Game over. [Music]

Dante Fabbro and Yegor Chinakov both picked up a goal and an assist as Jet Greaves made 24 saves to lead the Columbus Blue Jackets to a 4-1 win over the Pittsburgh Penguins.
