Chip Kelly CALLED OUT as Main Issue with Raiders Offense..
So, former Raider offensive tackle Lincoln Kennedy, who currently works for the Las Vegas Raiders, took a shot at Chip Kelly. Maybe it wasn’t a shot, but he definitely put blame on Chip Kelly, and he said that his offense is basically part of the issue as to why the Raiders are struggling. Plus, there was a former NFL tight end that also talked a little bit about the Raiders offense. He talked about why he thinks Chip Kelly needs to make some adjustments. I’ll talk to you guys about that in today’s video. We also have a Jackson Powers Johnson update. Uh, some people are saying Pete Carroll apparently hates Jackson Paris Johnson, which I don’t know if I agree with that, but we’ll talk about that a little bit later on. So, Lincoln Kennedy basically came out and said he is not buying the Pete Carol explanation for the for the loss that the Raiders had against the Commanders. If you guys listen to Pete Carol after the Commanders lost, and even the day after, you know, he talked about it, he kind of mentioned it a couple different times. He said that he thinks the reason why the Raiders lost to the Commanders was because him as a head coach, the plan that he had, right, coming into this Commanders game was that, hey, we’re already on a short week. We had just played the Chargers on Monday Night Football. The Commanders have a long week, right? They played on Thursday night, so they had like 10 days to get ready for the Raiders. So, the Raiders have a short week and we’re traveling to the East Coast for this game. So, Peak Hero decided for practice, we’re going to basically shorten it. We’re going to knock out a couple days. we’re going to make it easy. We’re going to let guys kind of recover. And that obviously did not work. So Pete Carol says that, hey, it’s it’s on me for going into this week with that plan. And Lincoln Kennedy said, I’m not buying this. Lincoln Kennedy says, I see what Pete Carroll did, and I understand why he did it. Being the head coach, you’re supposed to take the blame just like the quarterback, but this wasn’t a coaching problem. This was an effort issue. When you have one guy break down in the secondary, there’s a long pass play for a touchdown, that’s a breakdown. This is a breakdown where you’re supposed to take a proper angle to make a tackle and you miss or you don’t wrap up or you just try to shoulder bump. That’s not a coaching thing. That’s an effort instance. Now, Kennedy also does say one other thing which we’ll talk about here in a second, right? Specifically about Chip Kelly. But just to kind of talk about the effort side of things, you know, I do kind of agree with what Lincoln Kennedy is saying. It did seem like to me that the Raiders kind of came out flat. I, you know, given up two big returns, right? like the first play of the game, you know, it’s a a 60 plus yard kick return. Basically flips the entire game, right? Like the momentum is now 100% on the commander side and they score a touchdown on that first drive. You give up a punt return for a touchdown a little bit later on in the game, right? Those are moments like how many times have the Raiders given up any return touchdowns, let alone almost two, right? One obviously went, the other one got them all the way down to like the 30 yardd line. That usually doesn’t happen. You can partly put that on effort, but then there’s other plays like where Jeremy Chin bumps over coverage and they’re in a cover zero and then he’s like confused. He doesn’t pick up his guy or there’s a 60-ard touchdown that ends up happening because guys and on, you know, on that that large run. There are multiple guys that wrapped up the running back but like didn’t fully wrap up and bring back bring down, right? Jeremy Chin had an opportunity to bring the running back down on that 60 yard touchdown. uh Landon Roberts, Max Crosy was kind of right there. Guys are struggling and I do understand with the effort aspect of it, but I also do think the Raiders got absolutely screwed in that game, right? You have a Monday night game against the Chargers and then you have to go on a short week to the other side of the country as opposed to the other team has basically 10 days to prepare for the Raiders and they’re going to go with their backup quarterback. So, he gets even more time to prepare for the Las Vegas Raiders, right? The Raiders did get screwed over in this instance with the schedule scheduling. Part of that could explain why they came out flat, but we’ll see how they respond against the Bears coming up. Now, Lincoln Kennedy also did take some some shots at Chip Kelly. Uh he’s basically blaming Chip Kelly for the Raiders struggles and and certain struggles even on the offensive line. So, Lincoln Kennedy says the following. You know, I’m here to tell you that they need to take the shotgun away from this offense. You need to have Gino Smith under center every single time because that changes the trajectory of those defensive ends attacking you. The reason why Gino Smith, the moment he gets the football, there are people in his face is because the tackles who control the width of the pocket are getting collapsed back because they’re chasing speed up the field. They’re turning their shoulders and chasing speed up the field. That’s why the pocket is collapsing around the sides on him before they collapse in the middle. And Juno’s not the type of quarterback who steps up in the pocket. a lot of the time he wants to step out where he has an open space and those defensive ends and those linebackers, outside linebackers are preventing that. So, I don’t 100% agree with what Lincoln Kennedy is saying here. I do agree with with some of this. Now, first I’m going to say this. You know, our interior offensive line is getting its ass kicked. Let’s not pretend like Dylan Parm is not giving up pressure or he’s not missing blitzes, right? He’s not doing his job within certain concepts. Let’s not pretend like Alex Kappa didn’t have 11 pressures given up this past week. Let’s not pretend in one game one guy gives up 11 pressures. Sometimes you’ll have like teams that don’t even give up 11 among all five of their offensive linemen combined. One of our offensive linemen gave up 11. That doesn’t include DJ Glaze. And yes, I do agree with the too much shotgun plays, which we’ll talk about. But let’s also not pretend like DJ Glaze has to like only chase guys up field and he’s only getting beat with speed. I’ve seen multiple plays where where DJ Glaze is unable to anchor. He just gets pushed right backwards into the the quarterback. Now, I do think part of the issue also does come down to too many shotgun snaps. You know, I’m going to show you guys this actual stats here in a second. They’re kind of eye popping in my opinion. One of the issues with running shotgun too much is you become predictable. So, if you’re in shotgun and the running backs to the left side of the quarterback, think about this. If you’re a heavy zone team, outside zone or inside zone, if you’re if you’re running backs to the left, is always going to start towards the right and it’ll always bend back towards the left. Uh, an inside zone or outside zone is almost never going to hit if the running back’s on the left side. It’s almost never going to hit to the far right, right? It’s it’s a rare situation if that ends up happening. So, here’s what happens. Here’s what teams are doing. So the commanders who run a lot of cover when manto man came out in a lot of light boxes and I almost feel like they made this adjustment a little bit because they realized the Raiders are in shocking so much. So if Ashen Genty’s on the left the safety let’s say there’s two safeties the safety on that same side as Ashen Genty the guy on the left you know if if he’s playing 15 yards off the line of scrimmage and we run zone to the right knowing the play is going to bend back to the left because that’s how most zone plays are. You run it one way and then it ends up hitting back to the other side. That safety that’s 15 yards away has a little bit more room to come downhill and and fill the same side as Ashen Genty. And I say that because when you’re running zone out of a shotgun where Ashen Genti is on the left, the run can only go a certain type of way. Same thing if he’s on the right side and and you’re in shotgun, it can only go a certain type of way. Defense can predict those things. If you’re running power, Ashen Genti is to your right side. power is only always only going to hit to the left side, right? You’re predictable if you’re running all your plays out of shotgun. And you know what Lincoln Kennedy is saying is 100% fact. Let me just show you guys some of these numbers split out per week. Right now, the Raiders are running shotgun or pistol uh 42 47 48 out of and you guys can just see how many plays they’re not in shotgun. 18 17 12. So against the commanders, we ran 48 snaps out of shotgun and only 12 snaps where it was not shotgun, right? So Gino Smith’s under center. Um, you know, eye formation or, you know, double type, but basically Gino Smith’s under uh under the center. 12 freaking snaps this past week. That is wild, man. I don’t even know how to tell you guys this, man. That is absolutely crazy to me to think that 48 snaps in shotgun, only 12 not in shotgun. Now, here’s another thing that happens as a running back. When you’re in shotgun and you’re getting the football, you know, you’re not necessarily running downhill if if you’re running out of shotgun, right? If you’re a quarterback and you’re under the center and you’re going to take two steps to your right to hand the football off, well, the the running back kind of gets that that head start a little bit. He gets two, three steps before he gets the football. So, he’s a little bit closer to the to the offensive lineman when he gets the football. his read. As soon as he decides, I’m gonna cut this back to the left. He’s closer to the offensive lineman. If you’re in shotgun and you say, “Hey, I’m gonna cut this to the left.” You’re three, four yards away still from the offensive lineman, the defense will react quickly. That safety will come downhill and and fill the run fit. To me, I think this is a huge issue for the Raiders. They’re way too predictable on the offensive side right now. That’s on Chip Kelly. But it’s not just on Chip Kelly. It’s also on Pete Carroll because on the defensive side, we’re doing the same exact Literally, I looked at some of the numbers and I talked about this yesterday, but like I looked at the actual numbers and I posted them on Twitter if you guys want to see them, but basically the Raiders have run 92 snaps where they’ve been in a uh one safety shell, right? So, essentially, one safety one safety is playing deep, right? So, that’s going to be like Isaiah Paula Mouse playing deep. They stack the box. You can only play cover one man-to-man or cover three zone, right? you can only play those two defenses most of the time out of that that cover one shell. The Raiders out of those 92 snaps, I believe it was like 80, may have been a little bit more were basically them playing man def or uh uh cover three zone defense. So, they’re almost never playing man when they’re showing a certain look. 90% of the time they’re going to play the zone version of the single high shell, right? Which is the cover three zone. Here’s the thing. If you run 30 plays, and this is what the math comes out to. If you run 30 plays where you’re showing a cover one or a cover three defense, right? It’s the shell, right? Single high shell. If you run 30 plays and 26 of those as an offense, you know, they’re going to run cover three zone. 26 out of 30 times, that’s what they’re averaging right now. That’s predictable. As an offense, I could say, “Hey, let’s just run our cover three meters.” And that’s exactly what the Commanders did twice on the Raiders. And that’s exactly what the Chargers did on the Raiders. And guess what, Ben Johnson? The Bears are going to do. If the Raiders don’t start to, you know, if they stop being so pred, if they don’t stop being so predictable, the Bears are going to score 40 points on us, guaranteed, because the Bears went out and and did this against the Cowboys. The Cowboys are, you know, they lack some talent on the on the defensive side, but their coaching is also not great, and they’re a little predictable. And the Bears scored I I don’t remember the exact numbers, but well over 30 points. The Raiders right now are predictable on offense because they’re running too much shotgun, and they’re predictable on defense because they’re running too much cover one or uh one shell high, right? To me, that’s on Pete Carol. Yes, Chip Kelly is a little inexperienced. Pete uh Patrick Graham is technically running a scheme that is not really his scheme, right? Yes, Patrick Graham’s calling plays for us. I guarantee guys, Patrick Graham will not be here next year. He’ll be off to a whole new coaching staff if he doesn’t get hired as a defensive coordinator. He is not the type of guy that’s going to run cover one or cover three at the rate that the Raiders are. That’s not Patrick Graham. Patrick Graham is Brian Flores. He is Bill Bich. Patrick Graham wants to run two safeties deep. That’s not happening right now because Pete Carol is determining what this defense is going to be. To me, that is on Pete Carroll. And then of course, even with the Chip Kelly side of it, you know, there was a former NFL tight end, he uh I believe he’s a podcaster now for the Commanders, or maybe he just was on a Commander podcast where he was talking about some of what he saw against the uh against the Raiders, right, from the Commanders. And he kind of said some interesting points and I can’t show you guys the entire video due to copyright, but just to summarize some of what he said, you know, he was saying that, hey, Chip Kelly’s offense is almost designed like a college offense, right? Chip Kelly’s calling plays where like, hey, you know, in in college, this play would be open because the hash marks are a lot wider. So, in college, the hash marks are wider. You’re usually on one hash mark or the other. You have a much wider field. And then, of course, in college, they’re also slower. In the NFL, these guys aren’t aren’t slow and it’s not that wide and you don’t have that much space, which also is partly why the Raiders have had some interceptions. This guy also said some of the route concepts aren’t great because they’re, you know, they’re spaced in a way where in college it could work, but in the NFL it’s not going to work. So people, so this tight end is saying that right now what’s happening is Chip Kelly’s offense, a lot of it is is uh almost college-based, right? And uh he does think Chip Kelly will at some point recognize this and maybe Pete Carol just has to kind of talk about it with him. But I also do uh do think that with with Chip Kelly’s offense, you know, one of the struggles the Raiders are having right now is uh the blocking angles are not great. We’re not creating yards for this offense, right? Like we we call a split zone and we just run it the most basic way out of the most basic formations. There’s no motioning. There’s no, you know, tight end maybe inserts or, you know, there’s just nothing special about the Chip Kelly offense right now. And if you go watch Shawn McVey, for example, this guy will have the same formation and help 10 different run concepts out of the same formation. It seems like the Raiders don’t have that right now. Uh Shawn McVey will have a tight end on the left, a receiver on the left, a tight end on the right. He’ll put this guy into motion and you know, they’ll still run back over here to the right and it’ll be a split zone. It just it just looks good. The flow of it right to me. The Raiders right now are struggling partly because of the the fact that Pete Carol is struggling as a coach. You know, Chip Kelly obviously coming over from college isn’t having a lot of success. Uh and and I just want to make one other point as well uh in terms of the shotguns. You know, uh here’s the same stats I showed you guys earlier with the Raiders. This is this is for the entire NFL right here. So, the offensive snaps and shotgun, the teams that run it the least, right? So, the the the least uh least amount of shock and snaps, you got the Seahawks, the Rams, the Lions, the Bears, the Packers, the Niners, the Bills. Literally, pretty much every single one of these teams are some of the best offenses in the NFL. And what are they doing? They’re running shotgun the least, right? So, understand that some of the best offenses in the NFL do not run shotgun as much as what the Raiders are doing, right? So, you guys can see I’m going to just sort sort this the other way. The Raiders are running shotgun at a rate of the eighth highest. Uh the teams above the Raiders, the Jets, the bad offense, the Cowboys, bad offense. The Titans, bad offense. The Giants, the Saints, the Falcons, these are struggling offenses. The Commanders are the only team that are that is up here that’s that you could say is a good offense. Even then, the Commanders have struggled before they played the Raiders, right? They kick the Raiders ass. Obviously, the Cowboys are pretty good offense as well. But um you know, you can just kind of see that some of the teams that are running shotgun the most are struggling a little bit. Um you know, the Eagles are pretty good offense. Same with the Chiefs, but they’re also struggling this year to score a little bit of points, right? Uh the Chargers are up here. That’s probably the only team that uh that is up here. And you know, the Chargers still run a lot of plays not in shotgun, right? 57 um you know, which puts them exactly at 13. So, you know, they probably have run just a lot of offensive plays generally speaking, but you can just tell, man, some of the best offenses are coming out not in shotgun, right? So, you know, the Raiders got to get this fixed. I think they will have, you know, they’ll have a little bit more success as they go forward. Chip Kelly will figure it out. We are going to get a player back that I think will help the Raiders. Uh, but we might not get him back as much as what we initially thought. Uh, you know, I want you guys to listen to what Pete Carroll said. He was asked the question by Vincent Bonsnor. You guys will hear the question and then you guys also hear how Pete Kur kind of answers it. Some people think Pete Kur hates Jackson Paris Johnson based off this answer. I don’t agree with that necessarily, but listen into this Pet mentioned uh fitting the offensive line. Um I think on Monday it was uh last year the Raiders finished with Jordan Meredith at left guard, Dylan Hartman was at right guard and Jackson was at center. Would you consider maybe going back to something like that? Is that what you’re Absolutely not. You know, we we’re we’ve invested a lot of time with these guys playing in their spots. I know you’re interested in JPJ. This is a official week to practice and to get ready yet. Last week was was not that. So, he’s ready to compete for uh the playing time and he and Alex will be going at it. So, it’s a it’s a good situation in that regard. When you say competing for playing time is Jackson hit anybody in two weeks. We got to see what he can do. So, we got to check him out and see how he does. So, there you guys have it, right? Pete Carol’s basically saying this week is an official week for Jackson Paris Johnson to get ready and practice. And then he even kind of slips it in there that him and and Alice Kappa will be essentially competing for playing time. So this kind of goes back to what we heard yesterday or or I think it was the day before yesterday. This kind of reels it in a little bit, right? We were told that Jax Paris Johnson is apparently starting for the Raiders and he’ll get his opportunity. But now Pete Carol is basically telling us something that’s kind of the opposite. He’s saying that Alex Kappa and Jax Paris Johnson can can compete. And he also makes it very very clear that Jax Paris Johnson will not be playing center for the Raiders. And this is unfortunate, man. You know, I hate saying this and I almost don’t want to say it, but you know, I’m going to just be honest you guys. I don’t like somewhat I’m seeing from Pete Carol at this point. The offense is predictable. The defense is predictable. And more than just the defense being predictable, you know, uh Patrick Gr’s probably not going to be here next year. This is not his defense. The cover three defense sucks, right? Usually when you play good quarterbacks, good play call uh play callers like coaches that can design offenses, usually the heavy cover three defenses don’t work. The best defenses, defenses that have won all the Super Bowls in the last five to six years have been the two shell high heavy defenses. Just keep that in mind right now. I don’t like a lot of what I’m seeing for Pete Carol and the fact that he is unwilling to at least at this point potentially go back to Jackson Paris Johnson at center and not even like that, you know, he’s just unwilling to commit to Jackson Paris Johnson. This makes no sense to me. Jackson Paris Johnson is literally better than every single one of our interior offensive linemen. He is better than even DJ Glaze. And you know, this guy’s not once calling out DJ Glaze or talking about how Glaze has been struggling. Glaze has been awful. arguably our worst offense. I can’t even say arguably. From left guard to right tackle, all four of those guys basically suck. Yeah, we’ll have plays where they have success, but for the most part, those those offensive linemen are not the type of offensive linemen, you know, if from left guard to right tackle, those guys went to the Eagles, to the Cowboys, to the Chiefs, uh to the to the Colts, the Bills, if if our left guard or right tackle went to those teams, none of these guys would start anywhere for any of those teams. That is how bad those guys are, right? And for some reason JPJ, you know, you know, backing up, I understand if you don’t want to go with JPJ at center. I understand that. I could, you know, I could be okay with Meredith, but how do you not commit to JPJ after what Dylan Parm did this past week? The blitzes he missed. Like this guy missed blitzes where he just didn’t see it. And maybe that’s on coaching, right? because there was one play where Dylan Parm uh you know you you had guys where you know it was called where Dylan Parm had the long three technique Miller had the defensive end but the linebacker started to creep up and he blitzed the A gap and based off the protection call Dylan Parm should have picked up the blitz and he doesn’t and he picks up the guy on the left and and the linebacker goes free and sacks the quarterback there moments like this and I don’t see Pete Carol once saying hey we need to potentially swap out a guy like Dylan Pum Right. To me, this makes absolutely no sense. And again, I’m losing confidence in Pete Carol as a coach. I know the guy’s had a lot of success in the past, but it’s not guaranteed to work as he gets to the Raiders. You know, we have a a rookie general manager as well with, you know, some people have questioned his decision-m. And again, I know it’s one year, so we’ll give him two or three years to kind of figure it out. But let’s be honest, Tom Tlesco’s decisions that he made hands, you know, heads and shoulders above what John Spitech has done at this point. Brock Bowers, instant superstar. Jackson Paris Johnson, instant impact player for the Raiders. Even DJ Glaze, I know he’s not great. He’s still technically our starting right tackle at this point. Have the Raiders had any player that has had success that draft in the in the top three rounds? We had a lot of them, right? To me, what John Spitech has done so far does not look good. What Pete Carroll has done so far does not look good. I hope the Raiders are able to kind of figure it out as we go forward. You know, I’m not, you know, I don’t think the Raiders will will continue to struggle and I do think Pete Carol will get it turned around, but I question it right now, right? I don’t like a lot of what I’m seeing with the Raiders. And we’ll see if they’re able to get it fixed. If they’re not able to get it fixed, they’re not able to get some of these things corrected. It could be a really long season for the Raiders. Let me know what you guys think in the comments below.

Find the plays under center from this past week. I bet the reason we are not running under center is because if its play action gino is getting met in the backfield or if its a run ashton jeanty has guys in his face as soon as he gets the hand off it all stems from poor offensive line play
If the Raiders lose then it's time for PC to go and take his a$$h0le kid!!
I do not agree, that the issue is Chip Kelly's offense. What i see is Geno Smith overthrowing receivers, underthrowing receivers and worst of all Smith is throwing passes extremely late.
Smith also holds the ball far too long. I know he does not have a problem throwing the ball away.
He did it on 4th down! SMH
Dude the players suck. You were all about J.Bennett and he sucked. Param sucks. All of our Line except Kolton suck, thats why we are in Shotgun. It will take 1 or 2 years to build Pete's system. Fuck JPJ. He fucked up last year against the Cheifs.
I said this during the game Sunday: you have to call plays that keep the defense off balance, especially when you don’t have a strong offensive line. It comes down to his play calling.
Feel like the team is not as bought in to Pete as we thought. I want Pete out!
Great video everything your saying is on the money Sanjit! Spittin facts! I had such high expectations this year smfh
We need a RG and RT
Hes washed
Cappa is big for nothing fat butt pantie.
Pete is on some bull shit
Who ever hire chip Kelly is a moron smh
Don’t just tell me we ran 48 shotgun va 12, what were the results of those plays??
Same ol 🗑 raiders…different year😂😂😂
Spytek > Telesco.
Say what you will about Graham, but he did keep the Chiefs relatively in check the last couple of times they played them. As for Pete and the o-line. Sometimes the most obvious answer is the right one. 🙋🏻♂️
Lets also not forget that Lincoln Kennedy has been talking down on JPJ on the Locked on Podcast the past few weeks. JPJ is in the Caroll doghouse
Fire Carols and Kelly make Gramm head coach. Watch everyone will be happy. L.Kennedy as Oline coach
I got comments going back to before preseason game 1 …. TOLD EVERYONE Cappa and Meredith get MANHANDLED and can’t pass double teams
WTF. How do we change coaches THREE times and have the same predicable shit. its actually crazy.
I was at this game and the O line was garbage a long with the team
I agree
Raiders always have some issues
Pete’s son is a nepo baby!!
We hired a coach past his time!!!
Pete and chip need to go back to playing with kids seriously .
CRAPPA TURD… SUCKS-ASS!!!
I said hiring him was a mistake from the get go. Pete Carroll is clueless. Spytek is clueless. Should have kept telesco his picks worked besides the Minshew debacle.
If they'd just switch the O Line back to what it was at the end of last season, they'd play so much better!!!
Ashton is a star we just need a line
Its a businesss, and if my employer was sabotaging my career. It would be time to request a trade.
It's coming and Pete's bitch ass is trying to make it seem like its all on JPJ.
Brady, whats up Head of Personnel???
Laki tasi give him a shot ,why not
Oh my goodness! When I watch this, I think we don’t win another single game 😢!
the fact that spytech and pete did absolutely nothing to upgrade the oline all offseason says it all. Cappa? that's your upgrade?!?!?
KELLY WAS A FAILURE IN THE NFL. I DON'T KNOW WHY THE RAIDERS BROUGHT HIM OUT OF THE FAILURE CEMETERY.
NO EXCUSES…THE COMMITMENT TO EXCREMENTS RAIDERS ZUCK!!!
