Miami Heat Could Help Bridge Jonathan Kuminga Trade From Warriors To Kings? | Precious Achiuwa Back!

Welcome on in guys. Tobin here with you and thanks for checking out the channel. Hope you’re having a fantastic night out there as we’re getting closer and closer. I’m getting jelly belly. I see these other teams, they already got their media days going on. Training camps are opening up. Uh, everybody’s buzzing about Skinny Zion. First it was Skinny Luca. Now it’s Skinny Zion. Everybody’s all uh except for Jeff Te. Jeff Teague kind of game the business and I was actually thought it was a funny it was a funny uh bit by Jeff Teague who really he can he can come through some of them sometimes he says wild stuff but sometimes that guy’s got some hammers of uh of points and he was just like why are we praising Zeon Williamson for actually doing his job and you know applauding him for actually locking in when he probably just wants to get an extension and while that is fair I can I can’t help but be captivated by if the Miami Heat would have gone after that that move. Um and we do know that, you know, Joe Dumar does feel like he’s investing heavily in him. So, we’ll see what happens with that. But, um Miami, he did make a move today and this was one that was kind of kicked about. Uh when this move was announced, this happened like right before I went on the air today on the radio show, and that was that the Miami Heat had signed Precious Aua to a one-year deal. Um and we know the Miami Heat are trying to stay under the tax. So when the I was like as Shins broke the story and then I was like waiting. I was like, is there another move coming? And then uh it was Anthony Chang, the first person I saw after that say that it’s a non-g guaranteed deal. So the Miami Heat do not have to make a coinciding move with that as of right now to uh to be in compliance with anything and they don’t the only thing that they have to do is cut one of their tryyout players essentially. And I I like the move. You know, it was interesting that, you know, this is not a guy who like left on bad terms with the Miami Heat. I think Miami Heat fans look at it as like one of the the lone blemishes on the great Adam Simon’s resume because of the whole Tyrese Maxi thing, which I kind of understood at the time. And Tyrese has turned out to be an awesome player. impress, you know, is going on his, I guess, technically his fourth team and, you know, his NBA career even though he’s back to the original team that drafted him. And it’s a um you know and it it would become I guess according to the Miami Herald fully guaranteed on January 10th which I guess would uh put the Heat in an okay spot but you know I understood the Tyrese Maxi thing you know and it was a COVID postcoavid draft um the Heat they had Tyler Herro coming off of the bubble you’re probably feeling like you got you already had you had Goron who had ressigned at the time. So, I kind of understood why the Heat went in that direction. I mean, look, a whiff’s a whiff. You’re always going to think about that stuff, but at the time that wasn’t really where the the need was for Miami. So, and you know, Precious got more time early on. It was the rare case where he got time and then as the year went on he got less and less playing time. Then he was sweetener in the Kyle Lowry deal which ultimately worked out for the Miami Heat from a team success standpoint. But I’m happy he’s back because I do feel like it’s something untapped. I saw Tim Reynolds today say um something to the effect of like Pat Riley hated to see Precious Achua go and that they’ve been trying to basically get him back ever since. like this guy this guy was uh was somebody that they did really like in the organization that they had some belief in and feels like there could be something there and and it’s it’s something they needed dude I mean like they need to have those guys who can go and get it bring effort and rebounding and those are cruxes and things that spo did critique him of and Nick Nurse and then he kind of seemed like he found his way with Tom Tibido So, you hope that uh that can be the case. Not a good shooter. Um but, you know, I I don’t know if you’re going to rely on him for that very much. And you know, you’re one twisted ankle away from Vlad Golden playing. Vlad Golden was, you know, yes, on Final Four runs and then went to Michigan and he’s, you know, a Russian tank, but still, he’s on a two-way deal. You needed to do something. So, it was talked about, it was kicked around, I think, when the news first occurred that he wasn’t coming back to the Knicks. I mentioned this back uh in the in the early days of summer and then there were some reports that they were kicking the tires on this. So, it becomes official today. And I think the Heat now have their their last what’s this that seven first round picks on their team, which is uh pretty crazy. That’s a That’s a That’s a pretty crazy not all conventionally I give you, but pretty interesting how that all worked out. The other thing that was um kicked around today because I think when this first move happened, we were talking about is Terry Roier getting cut? But no, we found out okay that they don’t need to with the type of deal that they signed Precious to. But there was a report that came out today from Sam Amik of the Ach. You know what, dude? You said Tyler Tyler Hero had hollow numbers, so I’m I’m not going to worry how to do the a whatever it is. I apologize. Um, he had a report that the Warriors and Kings could re-engage again or or may re-engage again soon on a Jonathan Kaminga signing trade. And the big holdup is that the Warriors don’t want to take on Malik Monk’s contract. Now, this got my antenna peaked up because the Warriors do need to add some scoring punch, right? like they’re going to lose Jonathan Kaminga who right or wrong with Steve Cerr like he is a bit of the offensive punch and Malik Monk does provide that he is a guy who is a you know a six-man candidate provides that scoring punch for your team and I was like intrigued by the the name obviously because he’s been in heat rumors before you know and of course is former college teammates with Bam Adabio. So when this was bantied about I was like all right like could the and I know that I’ve already done the I did this with the Rockets this week with the Terry Roier thing and I was like trying to figure this out and then I realized the Rockets really don’t have a straightup trade to make for Terry Roier’s salary doesn’t make a a whole lot of sense. Um, and then I also had forgotten that Terrair punched Ahmed Thompson right in the face last year. So, a Rockets fan actually pointed that out to me on Twitter. I had forgotten. But this is a thing I like to call a new segment called drinky poos and trade moves. So, we’re just going to kick in an idea here. All right. And you guys tell me what you think in the comments, but I got on the trade machine and the way that Amic put the deal was it was basically going to be Monk and a first round pick lottery protected going to the Warriors in exchange for Jonathan Kaminga going back to the Kings. Now, I had to finagle a little bit because I don’t know what kind of contract Jonathan Kaminga is going to get um on the trade machine. So, I just threw into it saying that he’s going to make four years 120 like they’re going to pay him 30 a year. It’s been anywhere from 25 somewhere like that. That’s what I went with. I just was like, you know what? Let’s give him the sweetener. Let’s give him what he wants. Boom. This is the deal. So, I’m trying to take the problem off the Warriors hands. They don’t want to pay Malik Monk. Now, why don’t they want Malik Monk? The reason they don’t want Malik Monk is Malik Monk has about three years, $60 million left on his contract. And they want to keep roster flexibility for what? I don’t know. They’re full of old guys, but that’s what they want to do. I guess they’re, you know, they got their heart set on pairing Giannis with a 40-year-old Steph Curry and and Jimmy Butler. I don’t know. But they don’t want to have $20 million in two years committed to Malik Monk. So, I am kicking around the idea of, okay, what if the Miami Heat take Malik Monk off their hands because he’s the guy that’s got to get kind of kicked around here. And we put Malik Monk in the trade machine. We send him to Miami. Terry Roier goes to Golden State. and the Kings get Jonathan Kaminga. So those are the main players in this. Now I also had to finagle a little bit at least according to this website that I was using. I had to like get all the numbers right. So I added Ge Santos and Trace Jackson Davis also going to the Kings and Keegan Murray ended up going to the Heat. Now, I like Keegan Murray as a player. I don’t know if the Kings would give him up. Um, but I also figure they’re a weirdass team. They have Zack Lavine. They have Demard Rosen, so they kind of have their fill of guards um and shooting. Keegan Murray’s in the last year of his deal. They got to decide what to do with him anyway. And I like it for the Heat because Keegan Murray always lights the Heat up like a Christmas tree. The Heat need shooting and I think provides them a nice little punch for this year. It gives the Heat a nice infusion of offense to their bench which I I kind of feel like they’re desperately in need of. Um, if by you know if if there was a sweetener that you could look at perhaps the Miami Heat would also send Himeme Hakez to one of these two teams if they felt like well if we’re going to do this move Hime is not going to have any run you know this is kind of more of a win now move for the Heat but it’s pretty low risk you got one guy in expiring And yes, you have to pay Malik Monk for the next three years, which isn’t great, but it’s also it’s 20 million a year. It’s not like the worst contract in the world. And let’s say this Tyler Herro thing does not go great. You have a nice little insurance policy there. So I I and you know I know that we know that he’s got a a strong relationship with your captain. I think it would make Bam a little bit happy. You know Bam gets to have his his guy come into town and so I think that’s a nice little cherry on top that these guys you know get to uh you know that these guys get a chance to be with one another on the same team. And then I think everybody will look at this and be like, Tobes, well, are the Warriors really going to bring in Terry Roier? Well, here’s the thing. Um, well, I would say most teams would say, “Fo, we’re not going to take Terry Roier.” Here’s the thing that I would say for Warriors fans who are ready to laugh at me. one. Um, you’re getting the first round pick in this, right? So, that’s kind of the prize of all this. You’re losing Jonathan Kaminga and you want flexibility. Okay, Terry Roier is on a hefty deal this year, but it’s an expiring deal. So, no harm, no foul after this year. you know, if he could get back to who he was, you know, Roier Monk at the peak of their powers, Monk’s better, but you’re not having the long-term cost on it. And if we’re going to go from the chemistry standpoint, I mentioned Monk and Bam. Jimmy Butler, who obviously burned a lot of bridges in Miami, didn’t have a lot of love in that locker room when things ended other than three guys. One of them being Nicolola Yoic. The second, and he’s no longer here, Kevin Love. And the third guy who dabbed up Jimmy, I think he was one of the only guys to dab up Jimmy when he got here uh for his return game, Terry Roier. So Jimmy and Terry are cool. And in fact, I would say Terry in his little best run with the Miami Heat had a game some a couple of games with Jimmy Butler where Tyler was still hurt. Those guys, they just they they had a good little vibe going there for a little bit. So, I’m I will give you it’s it’s I I people may be looking at this and they’re like, “Well, you’re getting two rotational guys, Tobin.” It’s like, “Yeah, but expensive. The Warriors are getting a first round pick and then they get an expiring guy with scoring talent who yes, I understand is an FBI investigation lingering around stuff, but I mean, you know, it seems like he’s going to be okay with it. I don’t really know to be honest with you, but he’s not a long-term commitment. You’re getting the first round pick, lottery protected, and then the Kings are getting Jonathan Kaminga, which is the big thing they want here. They want their cornerstone young guy to be with Sabonis. And then they got their two veterans in the back court. And I don’t know. I I mean, it’s it’s probably a no, but when I saw that the Warriors didn’t want to get in the Malik Monk game, I’m like, “All right, well, who would want Malik Monk? He’s been on the Hornets and he’s been on the Kings. Those are kind of like the two doldrums of the NBA. Um, I could think of a team that would be interested in him based on who their highest paid player is. The Heat really haven’t done a lot of that for Bam other than uh Josh Richardson. And then I think Malik Monk is like it’s a palatable contract. It’s not like an albatross. And if Tyler Herro’s health is a problem, if they don’t keep Norman Powell longterm, if they don’t keep Tyler Herro longterm, you got somebody there. And then with Keegan Murray, I mean, the Heat haven’t really address their shooting with uh with with the loss of Duncan Robinson. They’re thinking Simone Fontio. In fact, like with this preach move, the He did they add scoring this year? Yes, they added Norman Powell, but they lost Tyler Herro. Did they fix their their size depth issue? Yeah, I’d say this is a nice little stop gap. You got Bam, you got Nicola Yoic, Khal Wear, now you got Precious, and then probably Keshad playing some four, five maybe in in in pinches for stuff. Um, but you have your insurance policies there. And then the last thing that you the the one thing that’s like really an issue that the Heat don’t have is shooting. Losing Tyler Herro, a a volume three-point shooter. They don’t really have that now. You kind of get like a heat check guy who can really get going in Malik Monk. You got a guy in uh who who’s Yeah, his shooting was down last year, but you know, for the most part in his career has been a pretty respectable guy. He puts it up a lot from three-point land. And then you got another guy in Keegan Murray who, you know, I I just I always know when the Heat play, I always like this guy lights us up like a Christmas tree every freaking time the Heat face him. Um, also kind of coming off a bit of a down year, so I don’t know. I uh I don’t know. I think I I I I I’m tried to take my Heat Homer hat off on this one and I kind of feel like the Heat are taking a burden of a cost in a in a trade where the Warriors don’t want to take on much cost. They just want to take on assets for letting Kaminga go. All right, they get their pick. They get an expiring good deal by them. Heat infusion of offense and Kings, they get Kaminga. I think Tricky Pooh’s in trade moves is off to a rousing start here. here. I think this is I think this could be the start of a beautiful friendship.

Tobin reacts to the Miami Heat bringing back Precious Achiuwa. Did the Heat fill all their offseason needs? Reports from The Athletic say the Jonathan Kuminga talks between the Warriors and Kings could pick up again but the Warriors don’t want Malik Monk’s contract because of the length. Would Terry Rozier on his expiring tickle their fancy? Tobin explores a potential three teamer while drinking and thinks he found a win for all three teams.

  1. Love the effort in trying to dump Terrible Rozier. Issue #1. Kings love Keegan. He is their only draft pick that has semi-worked out. #2. If Warriors don’t want Monk I find it hard to believe they want Terrible.

But we gotta keep an open mind & get Terrible off the team

  2. Bro, due to salary cap sitch and need to address Powell and Nico, we need expiring money which is what Rozier is…if they can package him with JJ, Fonteccio for a much better player maybe you take on longer term salary…but not for bad salaries that stretch 2-3 years…that's a bad move
