Madubuike OUT INDEFINITELY | Ravens defense SCRAPES for solutions

Welcome in everybody to another episode of 410 Sports Talk. James Haskell, Glenn Martin, and DK. Uh we are here on a Wednesday evening to talk about our Baltimore Ravens, the state of the Ravens, the state of the the injuries, what’s going to happen moving forward, give you some updates on our thoughts, uh and and really commiserate as a Ravens community, fan base, uh and see if there’s some positivity we can take out of the situation that the Ravens are in. Uh so we’re looking forward to it tonight. Uh Glenn, how you doing, my man? Doing well. Doing well. I mean, doing well considering uh the situation the Ravens uh have found themselves in. And as Ravens fans, we feel uh with all the the news since Monday night has not been positive for the Ravens. We continue to get more news as injuries continue to mount specifically on the defensive front. Um so yeah, I mean bummed out, you know, bummed out to to see the Ravens kind of in this position. We knew this was going to be a tough starting schedule, but I don’t think the Ravens uh starting one and two is necessarily the biggest stunner, but I think the way in which that last loss took place is what’s uh what’s causing Ravens fans some hurt. So, we’re going to we’re going to certainly go over some of the more recent news that’s come out. Uh and then after that, we’ll transition into some bright spots, maybe something to look forward to and and some of the positives that are around the team because I think we all need that need that. What’s going on, Joey in the chat? Appreciate you coming in. Um, only up from here. Yeah, exactly. It can only get better from here. That’s no doubt. King Blaze, CJ, appreciate you guys coming out and joining us. But before we get into it, Jimbo, I do want to mention we got a couple sponsors. So, I want to mention the first and that is of course none other than Zip Recruiter. Zip Recruiter, look, as any if anyone’s ever been tasked with the duty of trying to find new hires or new candidates, uh, they certainly understand the difficulty, right? you get stacks and stacks of resumes to look look through and and oftentimes you’re you’re trying to find the the needle in the hay stack and everyone’s everyone’s been there who’s been in charge with uh with hiring and trying and then once you find one trying to get in touch with candidates can also be a challenge nowadays. Um well the future of hiring looks much brighter with Zip Recruiter because of Zip Recruiter’s latest tools and features help you speed up finding the right people for your role so you save valuable time. And now you can try Zip Recruiter for free at ziprecruiter.com/audio. With Zip Recruiter’s new advances, you can easily find and connect with the qualified candidate in minutes. See a candidate you’re really interested in, you can unlock their contact info instantly. Uh, use Zip Recruiter and save time hiring. Four out of five employers who post on Zip Recruiter get a quality candidate within the first day. If you go to ziprecruiter.comaudio right now, you can try it for free. Again, that’s ziprecruiter.comaudio.ziprecruiter. The smartest way to hire. Yeah, Glenn. So, the Ravens might need to be hiring here soon. They’re certainly going to be looking for people to replace uh some of the injured guys we have. And I think that’s probably where we’re going to start, right? Uh talk to us about the Matab news, man. I know it was DK used the word ominous here. And I think that’s a good word. Um, I think we’re all concerned for him, but uh, tell us what you heard, what you what you uh, you know, heard is going on. They seem a bit mysterious about this one, but Yeah. Yeah. John Harbaugh wasn’t really willing to expand too much on the issue other than to say that he’s definitely Nandi Metab will definitely not be playing this upcoming game against the Chiefs. Said they are seeking a second opinion, uh, which can never be good, right? We we we don’t get typically get second opinions with if the first opinion is positive, right? That’s that’s one. And we don’t typically get second opinions if it’s an it’s if it’s a common, you know, run-of-the-mill injury that uh that NFL players go through. So, my only assumption is that it’s it’s neither of those things. That one, the they got a bad prognosis or diagnosis, and they’re hoping to get a second opinion to either refute that or maybe at least cushion the blow of the news that they got from the first opinion. And then the and then the second reason is I I think that it must be a unique injury. Maybe an injury that has very longlasting effects. Uh and that and that’s what has I think most Ravens fans very worried. This is a guy who signed a big deal here and when it’s a neck injury, you know, immediately makes us think like DK mentioned in the pre-show about our own defensive coordinator. You know, Zack Our went from all pro linebacker to being told that his neck uh is is in no condition to continue playing football and he was one hit away from becoming paralyzed. And so for that reason, he was forced into retirement in his mid20s coming off his best season in all prose where he was set to get, you know, certainly a big big contract. So that’s the concern. Now, they haven’t made any announcements that that is what’s happening, but we’re just kind of reading through the tea leaves here and reading between the lines and seeing this looks like a long-term thing, Jimbo. Yeah, it’s not good news. Um, man, I I it’s really unfortunate because I saw the ticker come across the the information via ticker watching the Orioles game tonight come across the screen and even that even in the ticker you could read the negativity um, you know, in in the messaging in the brief lettering that it was. So, I hope for the best for him and for the Ravens, you know, I hope it all works out. Tone says, “Is the Dline cooked?” Well, the thing is is that I think uh correct me if I’m wrong, right? DK, you mentioned something about Broadick Washington being banged up. Travis Jones is also banged up. Yep. So, to your question, Tone, I think temporarily they are certainly on the Blackstone. Yeah, they are squarely on the Blackstone being grilled up. Uh but uh you know, we’ll see if they stay there. I I’m sure that they are calling the previous legend of the game at this point. Michael Pierce, please. I mean, just come hang for a couple weeks. They got to be kicking. The problem is when this injury happens so early in the season, this is where teams, they’re not, no team is really out of it yet. So, there’s not a lot of teams willing to give up good players because they still feel like they’re in the hunt. So, now’s not the time to be desperate and needing a trade or because there’s just not a lot of teams. Like people talk about Kas Campbell. Well, I don’t know if the Cardinals consider themselves out of it. So why would they want to trade their best player on the defensive interior? It doesn’t make a lot of sense. So yeah, I mean, of course, Twitter’s uh assuming that this is uh a career-ending neck neck injury, and I think that’s maybe partially the fear like people just, you know, like they do. Oh, we’re going to lose. Just saying with the Ravens, oh, we’re going to lose this weekend because it kind of helps them feel better uh in in a way to just admit the worst case scenario. And I think that’s what they’re doing. But man, I I hope like heck that that’s not right because this dude was absolutely balling. He was I mean taking the the thing that made him so or special next to Travis is that Travis was so good at taking the double team and Metab was so good at beating one-on- ones. And those two together was is is was a real match made in heaven. And now both are down as Travis Jones got hurt late in the fourth quarter and Brick Washington’s down. I mean, K, let’s not forget KVN is still out and that looks to be a bigger problem than than maybe we thought it would be. Um, because the defensive line and the front whole front seven got absolutely bullied in our own backyard. Got pushed around, beat up, gave up four rushing touchdowns at home for the first time in the history of this franchise. And that is also the same time we just see news today that uh the only team remaining in the entire National Football League that has yet to give up a rushing touchdown this season. Jimbo is the Seattle Seahawks led by Mike McDonald. Why you got to say that to me, Glenn? Don’t say that to me, man. We give up four last game. They haven’t given up any all year. Jeez Louise. Makes you wonder. Makes you wonder. I know players got to play, but um Yeah, that’s that hurt. Coaches got to coach. Yep. Now, the corresponding moves, just to get this out of the way. Yeah. Uh, the Ravens did sign two new defensive linemen to their practice squad in Tav Bryan and Josh Tupo. Uh, they in in turn had to release Deionis Johnson, the running back, and wide receiver Anthony Miller to make space for them guys. So, um, the expectation is that one or both of those could be active as soon as this weekend for the for the game with all the injuries mounting at the position. Mhm. Yeah, this is nerve-wracking and and certainly something that we will continue we will continue to talk about. But I also want to stay on the injuries here, Glenn. We’ll come back to the defense. We’re going to talk about that. But you mentioned right before the show starts, like what is going on with Patrick Ricard? What is happening here? Because it’s not only injuries that were suffering from on the defensive side of the ball. Certainly on that goal line. I believe there’s a different outcome. Um, if Patrick Ricard is back there playing fullback, don’t you agree? Oh, certainly. I think all those short yard I mean we had first and goal from the one and we couldn’t punch it in with Derek freaking Henry. Yeah, absolutely. I think it would be a big difference. Yeah. So, you know, I I like you said, can they just say it’s an Achilles already? There’s no way it’s a calf. It was a calf. I heard some uh some doctor on I I don’t know if it was on X or what talking about it and they’re like if it was a calf strain, think about when this supposed calf strain occurred. It was it was at the tail end of training camp at this point a calf strain would have had plenty of time to heal. So either it is the longest and slowest healing calf strain in history or it’s more than a calf strain. And I think we all kind of expect what it is and it’s it’s it’s an Achilles. It’s always an Achilles when it’s a calf, guys. It’s always a freaking Achilles every time. Especially with the Ravens. Yeah. I mean, and it’s clear. And then also to to to, you know, kind of make matters worse, Ronnie Stanley was not in practice today with an ankle. So, it’s like both sides of the ball in the trenches were completely beat up. And, you know, even at our healthiest, we weren’t playing great. you know, I mean, it still wasn’t wasn’t what we were expecting to see from from either side of the ball on the offense or defense, at least on the the front. We were expecting better even when they were healthy. And now they’re completely ravaged with injury. Oh, Jimbo. It’s uh it’s it’s tough to find a whole lot of silver linings right now with this team coming off the worst loss I can remember at home. Uh in the way that they lost to just get I mean, the Baltimore Bullies got Baltimore bullied in their own backyard, Jim. Like in embarrassing fashion. go in front of everyone to see, you know, you know, it’s it’s one of those where unfortunately I have an older brother, so I’ve never been in this situation um because I have a big enough mouth, but it’s one of the situations you see where a kid is fighting another kid or a grown man, let’s be honest, and you’re getting beat so bad, but you’re still able to stand up and you just look at the guy and you know, I I’m I’m giving up. I’m just walking away because I have nothing left here, right? It’s just complete and utter humiliation because you can still walk like you’re not out of there in a gurnie. You know what I’m saying? Like you don’t remember it. You’re walking away from that thing voluntarily, right? I know you guys are talking about in our pregame. Rocoan seemed to be doing a little bit of that uh in the Lions game, right? There was certainly some picking and choosing that seemingly was happening in that game. Uh, yeah, lots of things going on. Not looking good for the Ravens. I’m just gonna say this, Glenn, because I was doing the dishes earlier today and I was thinking about how to say this properly because sometimes the most passionate way I want to say it is probably not the best way to say it, right? But I can’t think of a better way to say this. This is a really good collection of players, but if this thing doesn’t work, I’m the only thing I’m worried about keeping is one guy. It’s just number eight. And I don’t care. We blow it up. Like just if this collection of guys collectively can’t get it done together this year, then I’m done. Like I don’t want to see the same crew just roll out next year and and somebody tell me signing two 38-year-olds on the edge is going to get the job done. Stop feeding me your bargain chow, Eric. Like, I want the real stuff, dude. Anyway, sorry for screaming there, but it is so frustrating to me. Like I’m sorry, but if it Yeah, I guess maybe hold on to Z too, but like my list is short of like my must haves. I need eight. Outside of that, we need to figure it out. And I don’t care who has to stay, who has to go. It doesn’t matter to me anymore. Yeah. Yeah. It Jimmy, I think you’re where a lot of Ravens fans are. Frustration is uh I mean, we haven’t seen this. I mean, we started this podcast in 2019. Yeah. We haven’t felt like this since this has started. Like I mean we had some bad losses, some tough losses, but it’s like DK pointed out before the show, this was the first loss in quite some time where we can honestly say the Ravens didn’t beat themselves. We can’t we can’t use that as an excuse. We can’t say they shot themselves in the foot. We can’t say we bailed them out with poor execution or bad plays. No, we got beat up like punched in the face. like it can’t there’s no well if we I mean yeah the pen the turnovers hurt you know certainly that that Derrick Henry fumble didn’t help but outside of that they completely beat us up and so there’s no you you can’t blame it on oh well we we we shot our no not this time uh let’s see we got a super chat coming in from Gregory says should have kept McDonald and fired Harbs big mistake well certainly right now it doesn’t look Great. Because I think if you stack these rosters up even now, I don’t see many taking the the Seahawks like now. Part of that’s because you have eight and uh like coach in the chat said, you got 14, too, on the other side. Uh they’re pretty good. But the my point is that I don’t think anyone would look and say, “Oh, well, Mike McDonald has the far superior team and that’s why they’re playing the way they, you know, that’s why they haven’t give.” No, I don’t I don’t think that’s the case. Something ain’t right here with our team. We got defense. Like the thing I don’t get, Jimbo, is how is it that like how does Rocoan go from winning player of the week to making business decisions at the line of scrimmage? Like what the hell is that guy doing out there? Like I I don’t I don’t understand what happened to Roquan. He’s supposed to be our like Say what you want. And we don’t ever say that he’s uh he’s he’s Ray Lewis, but we say he we used to say he was the closest you could probably get to him. We used to say that. Mhm. Man, I ain’t never seen Ray make no decisions like that. Never in life would he ever make that type of a decision. So, yeah, man. Frustrating to see. And then here’s the part I I am most worried about, Jim, and you tell me if I’m crazy. Marlon Humphrey to much of the fans uh dismay once again did his postgame on his on his podcast. And I didn’t even I saw the I saw somebody sorry I saw somebody’s clip said read the room. I didn’t even want to watch it. I don’t want to hear Marlo’s fat mouth right now. Marlo, shut up and play football. Get off the damn podcast and play some football. Sorry. Yeah. Yeah. No, I was like, “Wow.” Okay, this guy. It’s just a I mean, we could probably play. It’s only a couple minutes. Uh, we’d have to probably pause. I’m sure freaking Marlo’s podcast hooligans will run after us. Yeah, he’ll come after us and take take needs every dime he can get off that big old contract. Why don’t you win some football games, Marlin? But I think the part that I had the most problem with is that he said normally, and I’m paraphrasing, of course, I don’t have it right in front of me, but he said normally when a young guy or something can, you know, come to you and ask what happened, he has he has a reason. He said he said he didn’t he said he didn’t know when he was asked that. Yeah. And like DK said, he was very nonchalant. He was just quirky. He was silly, which it rubs you the wrong way. But it was also going he was like, I don’t know what happened. I don’t know. I don’t know. I have no idea. Well, that’s freaking scary to go, I have no idea. And you’re Marlon Humphrey. You’ve been here how long? Like, you can’t tell us. I I don’t know. Who knows what happened? Like, what the hell? No. No. That is not what we want to hear. So yeah, man. This defense is in a sad sad state and it it’s a shame because there are a couple guys that I think are playing well like Chidobe Chebe Auzier. Like he he’s better than we could imagined. Like we Isn’t it funny that the one guy you named is in need of a contract? Who’s that? Wooier. Oh, I see what you’re saying. Yeah, he’s on a short in need of a I mean I guess he’s in the last year of his deal, isn’t he? But Marlin’s made so much money. I don’t I don’t know if he is. I think he’s on the last one where we can’t get out of it. Oh, I think you’re right. But and then also, I mean, obviously Rocoan’s deal, they paid him before the season started or whatever that crap was, right? Like that 25 million. Here you go. No doubt. Tom B says, “Do you guys think back-to-back weeks running less than 100 yards for the first time in Lamar era is is from the absence of Ricard? I think we severely underestimate his impact on this running game.” Well, certainly that is a huge huge part of it, but outside of Ricard missing, I still I can’t believe this. 100 yards when you have Lamar and Derrick Henry. I mean, that should be a layup, Jimbo. Like, I know Ricard’s important. No doubt about it. But I know we also had success on the ground when Ricard’s not on the field. like I I I I find it um frustrating and and and kind of demoralizing that we can’t without our fullback seem to to put together a run scheme when we have Derrick Henry and Lamar Jackson. Like that’s just crazy to me. Um yeah, I also don’t know. I feel like this still is a thing. Like when we used to have Josh on the show, Joshua Harris, former quarterback coach for Lamar Jackson, I believe I feel pretty good about what I’m about to say. Like sometimes when Lamar is struggling just to like get in it early. Yeah. Design a run. Just design a run. Get him going. Let him get a little, you know, get the legs flowing. Get the heart pumping. I feel like to to Tom’s point, I think it’s been very impacted by Ricard’s absence. But also, do you remember not that I need Lamar running 12 15? We don’t need Greg Roman against the Bengals first. That was shot. That was uh Who was our coordinator before Roman? Uh man, was it Caldwell or No, no, no. Oh, Mark. Oh, on the radio. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh, yeah. Marty Morningwick. Yeah. Yeah. The Well, I don’t know how. Oh, dude. I love listening to him talk. Yeah. But anyway, you know, he ran Lamar. Oh, look. Look it. Uh, look it look it look it, guys. Yeah. You know, anyway, like 22 times or whatever. We don’t need that. But like I don’t remember design running that game. Do you? Oh man, I don’t I’d have to look. The read option is one thing, but I’m talking about like a 1930s here. Take it and run it. I mean, one of those third and goal I mean, one of those three plays from the goal line. I wouldn’t have mind putting him in shotgun and doing a quarterback power from a half yard out, right? Because you got your just like you talked about, you got your lead blocker. You got 280,000B Derrick Henry. So, you got an extra man than you normally would. So, yeah. I mean, anyway, there’s a lot of things that uh that can that attri that are attributable to what Tom was saying, but I also think that’s one of them. I want to play this Marlo bit now. Unless you’re going to tell me I’m going to get fully enraged. Well, it’s just he’s just so nonchalant. I think DK said it right. He’s just so nonchalant about it. All right. It’s a two and a half minute bit. Oh, yeah. Yeah. I don’t know how we can avoid Rod says skip it. All right, I’ll skip it. That’s fine. I mean, he’s just like sitting there like, I don’t know. I don’t know what happened. Normally, I know, but I don’t even know. Like, it was just It just seemed like the thing that drives fans crazy is that we want to see the passion in the play. Like, I want to see you look like Derrick Henry did after that fumble. That’s what I want to see. I want to see you throwing a fit on the sideline about yourself. I want to see you with tears in your eyes in those scenarios. And that’s what we saw from Derrick Henry. Derrick Henry was distraught like like he just got horrible news about someone he loves. Like it was he was dro he was flopped around on the bench. It was crazy. That’s the kind of reaction fans want because we’re so emotionally invested in it. So, when we say when we see a guy seem like he doesn’t care as much as someone like me or you, it’s like, well, damn, you’re getting paid all that money and you don’t even care as much as me. I don’t even get paid by the team. So, I think that’s what kind of pisses people off. Um, and yeah, he pointed out like Rod Wave says, I think it was him who pointed out that there’s no fear of this defense anymore. This is long gone. Forget Are you kidding me? No fear. Oh my gosh. teams are excited at this point. Oh yeah, DK, you don’t have up. It’s okay, bro. By the way, you would probably like this Jimbo. It’s totally off topic, but I saw it today. I thought it was great. It was funny. Mike Tomlin throwing shade uh randomly at Anthony Richardson for no reason. He was talking about backup quarterbacks and he was like, “Look, last week, last year when we played Indie, I said, “Keep Anthony Richson upright because I don’t want to see Joe Flacco.” And then before you know it, here comes Joe in the fourth quarter. and he ended up beating her ass. So, I thought it was so funny because poor Anthony Richardson, he’s already gotten benched. He’s just catching strays. Like, oh great, the game plan was to keep me healthy, right? That that was the Steelers game plan. Don’t hurt that guy so Joe doesn’t come in. Oh my goodness, dude. I just saw a clip of somebody replying to Marlo. It says, “Teams used to fear the Ravens defense. Now we got a bunch of clowns.” And it was the video of who was the dude? the um Jones brother that played for the Raiders that was at the he was crying in front of a fireplace. Chandler he’s just balling and he’s like like Yeah. Anyway, oh my gosh, I don’t know what we’re going to do. Tom B says Marus also said on one time that he couldn’t relate to fans. I don’t understand being a fan. I don’t think I could be friends with Maron Humphrey. No, no chance. Like I think he just purposefully says inflammatory things. Oh, he’s a troll. Yeah, he is a troll. I can’t do that. Maybe I’m too serious. Maybe I take life too seriously. I’ve also been told that. But maybe I’m like too highrung. But I feel like I have a sense of humor, but too much is too much. Yeah. Yeah. He’s a troll. I mean, he he’s the type like somebody said, “Man, we just had this horrible loss and we know in about an hour and a half Marlin’s going to be here talking about, does anyone really like pizza?” Like some ridiculous comment. All right, let’s take a bet. Is there any way that Marlin can actually play the piano that he’s the piano chair that he’s sitting on? There’s piano behind him. Can he play piano? No chance. It’s for decoration. But in thumbs up or thumbs down? In fairness, I’ve seen multiple people in my life that have one and they’ll none of them know how to play it. It’s just Yeah, my my in-laws are in that camp. Shout out to And DK says a little bit. Probably because he’s got too much time on his hands, right? Well, now he’s got football and then the podcast. Yeah, he gets bored in the offseason and he’s golfing. His golfing in the offseason is very How about he work on his facial hair? Whoever said his little cookie, his little Oreo mustache was working, ain’t working, man. Now I’m starting to feel bad. But it does look like he took the the little bit of Oreos that were left and like ate them with no milk. I just don’t get why he was so he was so good last year. He was such a differencemaker. Every play he made seemed like a game-changing or game-winning play. And it’s just like Well, I felt like he had some big plays in this game. Like, if I’m being honest, he did. He did. At the line, he was super disruptive. He had that touchdown savings sprint, but it’s just the the the the the I don’t know what the word is. St. Brown took him to school a couple times. Let’s be honest. Oh, for sure. Don’t get me wrong, but it’s the uh the the the off-field stuff that’s just I just found it annoying. Yeah. Yeah. If he didn’t if he didn’t if he didn’t do that podcast, I don’t think he’d be catching as much grief as he is. Yeah, I agree. And like the towel on the head. Yeah. Rod Wave said it. He’s like an every other year guy now. on year, off year, on year, off year. Um, and hopefully this isn’t an off year and it’s just an off game. Um, but yeah, so let me ask you this. Let’s boil it down to this. Can we identify anything that the Ravens are doing wrong now that can be fixed in short order? Not, let me actually rephrase that. There are things that can be, but let’s also consider the coaching staff and the front office. We don’t get changed very quick around here. We move a lot like the government, right? So, anything that we actually see changing, not that can be because can be is a whole list of things that won’t, right? But is there anything that you say, you know what, I I I believe that this will improve or I believe that this will change. You know what I’m saying? Yeah. I mean, something happened when you tried to type that in Grock. Oh, yeah. Yeah. Well, let me just start there, folks. Jimbo said he wanted to try and find as much positivity before going into this game. He wanted to find a positive outlook because look, it’s pretty doom and gloom right now. Yeah. So, I went and I honestly when he said that I went, I don’t even know, man. I I got to figure this out. So, I went in and I asked AI. I said, “Ai, give me all any and all good news for the Ravens over the last two days. Anything.” First word I got back, folks. Unfortunately, it said unfortunately I’m not able to like AI couldn’t after digging I I said think harder and it immediately was like well Lamar had a good game like it was it’s hard to find good news. It it really is and and look there’s things on the offensive side obviously I can point to. I mean the Ravens are still number one in points per game. 37 points a game. They scored 40 on the best defense in football last week against the the Browns. I mean, they they can put it up, you know? I mean, points per play, they’re number one. Yards per play, they’re number two in the league. Touchdowns per game, 4.7 is their average touchdown output offensively per game. So, there’s a lot to like offensively. Now, Dererick Henry has to stop turning the ball over. He’s got three fumbles in three games, two of which came in his own territory. So, that’s got to get better. I think Tyler Loop has been a bit of a bright spot when it comes to kicking field goals, but my god, can you stop kicking the ball out of bounds or short of the landing zone? I mean, I know it’s these kooky ass rules that we have here where we have a landing zone, but at least stop kicking the damn ball out of bounds and giving the ball the team the ball at the 40. I mean, right, we lead the league in that. Like, we lead the league in penalties uh for that per for that reason. And so Tyler Loop has to get better at but he’s been a bright spot from a field goal kicking standpoint even with the one that I’m still not sure if it went through the uprights or over it. Yeah. Uh but we’ll take the points. So but defensively Jimbo you’re going to have to help me here. Like I mean I talked about Cheeto Bay Auzier. I thought he’s played really really good football but I’m so dis disheartened by what I saw from Rocoan Smith this week. Like I didn’t think that was possible. Jimbo for him to be avoiding contact is what it looked like and flailing arms about getting stiff armed in his mouth. Uh but like this is so help me find something good on defense while you while you think about Massie says Lamar was frustrated all game. Harbs punting fourth and nine with four minutes to go and defense couldn’t stop anything. Campbell goes for it in fourth and two. Campbell broods positivity Harbs negativity. What do you think about that? And then what is there any bright spot when it comes to the defensive side of the ball, Jimbo? Okay, let me break this down here and then hold on. So I I actually don’t disagree with what Masi is saying in the in in at least the the Well, actually, you know what? Um I I I don’t think it’s negativity that John is a pretty positive guy. He’s like a cup half full guy. I think that messaging is pretty clear. But to your point, Masi, like the way that he makes calls, right, we saw another fourth down. I know we were in our territory, but it was certainly late in the game and s felt like, analytics aside, four down territory um for the Ravens to stay in this game because of how, you know, our defense is basically a piece of Swiss cheese at this point. So your once again, your best defense is keeping your offense on the field. Um, so but of course we punt it away again and act like our defense is going to do something. Um, anyway, so I I see what you’re saying, Mossi, in that coach Campbell really rides with his guys. So in that way kind of, you know, um, exudes positivity there, but defensively if there man, you’re really take putting me to task here, Glenn. Well, let me just tell you the Ravens defense in that one game, one game, Jimbo, NextGen stats tracked them for having 20 missed tackles. 20 in one game, Jimbo. 20, that is Okay, I have one piece of positivity. Okay, two major contributors on two different levels of this team are very young players, you know, in in Malachi Starks and Mike Green. And the reason I think that’s a positive thing is because if any if we’re going to get improvement from anywhere, realistically speaking, and I guess Teddy. So, we have we have this year’s draft picks on all three levels. So to me, if you’re going to get rapid improvement from anyone, it’s someone who’s newer to the league because, you know, the first time you do something at the professional level, anything, any one of us, it is terrible in comparison to just the second time you do it, right? So that’s the only thing I can think of right now to say there could be improvement because we have young a young player at a pivotal position at each layer of the defense. So Mike hopefully continues to make big strides. Buchanan too. You could throw Buchanan. Exactly. Buchanan, you know, hopefully continues to take big strides. And then same thing with Malachi. That’s how our only hope. But right now, like it looks, you know, Mike Green’s being asked to do a lot for a guy who’s not that big. And and there was a lot of moments that where it’s just like, man, we’re asking this dude to take on 330 pound tackles and it’s just it’s a lot for him, you know? It’s a lot to throw on. So yeah, I mean there’s there’s a lot of youth on this defense and that to some degree I guess gives you some some bit of hope, but oh man, that youth can’t that youth has to be more than just youth, right? Like you got to start playing like it. By the way, also on the Ravens offensive side of the ball, the Ravens did set an NFL record Monday night. Jimbo, you’re going to love to hear this one. The Ravens allowed 30 pressures on Lamar Jackson in a single football game, setting the new record. Previously it was 28 by the 2018 Chiefs. We gave up 30 pressures in one game. Like is dude 30 30 Jimmy like have you is that even something you thought like I that sounds made up. It sounds like I’m faking it but PFF said 30 pressures. How many drop backs did we have in that game? Uh, let’s see. 27. Well, 27 pass attempts. More than that for drop backs because Lamar scrambled on some. So, it had to be more than that. So, he literally was pressured on every single drop back is what it looks like. Dude, we got we got we got to get Lamar moving forward. We got to do something, bro. That is insanity. Like, whatever we got to do. Like, can we get a little bit of can we take 2019 and like pepper it on? You know, we got to get it moving forward, dude. You know what I mean? Yes, we got I mean, we might have to turn back the clock with this game plan a little bit. Cuz what else is there? Should we go full-on Bengals, but instead of Gus in the back field, just no throws, Henry Lamar to your Yeah. This is like the the Niners when all their quarterbacks were hurt and they just they just kept You remember though, that first touchdown drive? Oh, yeah. It was beautiful. It was beautiful. He didn’t throw it once. Nope. No. Oh, yeah. I was at that right down the field. Now, I think we’re being a bit hyperbolic here, right? But like, some of this we we do need. We can’t have Lamar running for his life in the back field going backwards, flipping his hips 80,000 times and expecting Superman to come out of the foam boos every single play. Yeah. We’re gonna end up with Joe Burrow, Andrew Luck. Look at Deshawn Watson. Look at all those guys that that get hurt. That’s what’s going to end up happening to us. And you think we’re bad off now, forget about it. When you got who’s our backup right now? Oh my gosh. You got Cooper Rush. You go from the best quarterback in the league in my opinion and pretty objectively, unless you’re a homer of another team, um to then turn around and say, “Here, Cooper Rush now be what?” No, we need to protect our quarterback. I think the way that we do that is is we we need to have him put his foot in the ground and go forward. What happened to what happened to Zay in this game, Glenn? Well, Zay was only targeted three times. He had two catches for 13 yards. But I mean, it it look it was Mark Andrews and Rashad Baitman’s kind of coming out party. They had six and five receptions respectively. But yeah, I mean to your point, Zay has to be an intricral part of this offense. We got to find creative ways to get him the ball. He’s he’s too dynamic to not. But and with an offensive line like this, Zay needs to be more of a factor. We need to get the ball out early more. When your quarterback is getting harassed every single play, well, goodness gracious, let’s get the ball to the guy who would be a nightmare in any neighborhood game. Mhm. Mhm. Well, I mean, I think the saddest part of this is is that like Lamar Jackson is on pace to have just an absolutely insane season. And it looks like right now things continue to go how they’re going, then he’s going to it’s going to be wasted. I mean, right now he’s number one in the league in passing touchdowns, number one in touchdown percentage, number one in passer rating, number one in yards per attempt, number one in adjusted yards per attempt, number one in yards per completion, number one in in interceptions, tied for number one with zero. Uh there’s basic I mean, he’s got 10 total touchdowns, zero total turnovers. I mean, like that’s the part that’s like Jesus. So, if he’s doing that like on pace for the best season he’s ever had in his life and yet we’re one and two and our defense is completely in shambles and it looks like we’re going to we’re going to really struggle here. And if we cannot turn this around and beat that Chiefs team this Sunday that’s that’s struggling and going through a lot of the same kind of bumps and along the road, man, it could be it could be like are we looking at how the Bengals look like because eventually these are all people, right? And so they look around, they go, Jesus, we’re one and three, one and four. like you start to wonder if guys are going to start, you know, maybe not playing through certain bumps and bruises, if they’re not going to like effort levels start to dip even further. Not a good place right now for the Ravens. Not a good Not good at all. Not at all. Uh why why not why not sign Wilkins for the Dline? I mean, I can’t give you a single good reason. Well, I mean, I could pull you a couple clips that could give you some I don’t even care. I mean, I literally don’t care. Kiss every player on the defense on the forehead. I don’t care. Tootsies. Every single defensive lineman that you’re better than, kiss him on the forehead. That would be every single one in our locker room right now. Oh, man. Yeah. I mean, three kisses on the forehead. Will can he come can he come to your house and tickle your feet before the game? Sure. He can keep he tickle the feet, kiss the forehead. Sure, no problem. Just just clog up the middle, right? It just Yeah, dude. All I’m going to say, Wilkins, I got a Latina wife, so at your own at your own caution, but watch out. Have at it, dude. And his dog’s pretty big. Yeah. Get the shiner ready for you. That’s true. Oh my gosh. Wait, did the Steelers sign him? Of course they did. Did they? That’s what I see that. Yeah, I see. But I I didn’t see that. I didn’t see it either. Oh, great. Great. The anti-narrative says, “Who is the Ray Lewis type emotional leader on this team?” Uh, someone to rally the team to get their minds right. I don’t see it from anybody, not even Harbs. He looks like he don’t know what to do. So, there’s only one thing I want to say about this. Maybe we don’t know. Like it’s hard to say who’s the Ray Lewis type. You can say who’s the emotional leader. That’s fair. But like who’s Ray Lewis? I mean Ray Lewis is 101 for a reason. And and so we maybe don’t know how good we had it forever, right? Like 17 years of Ray. We a lot of people don’t really know anything else. But um to your point though, who’s the emotional leader? Like you said, Glenn, it’s supposed to be Rocoan. I don’t know, man. I mean, he’s the one doing the pregame speeches. He’s the one standing in the circle. Yeah, but it’s you gotta feel you gotta feel pretty hollow doing that and then not giving your body up. Yeah. Oh man, it’s fake. Ray Lewis Rose. Oh no. Oh no. Not Ro. And this is crazy. He just put up 15 tackles last week and was player of the freaking week. But man, did he look like he wanted no parts of physical contact. Like that is insane. Tom Botto says the Steelers did in fact sign Mr. tickles, which is not good because he typically does that to the other opponent to the opponents and now we got to play this guy twice. So, be be weary on the in the dog piles. Hope that camera zooms in. Make sure we catch evidence of what this guy might be up to. Um, but yeah, I mean, I think there are some emotional leaders. There’s some vocal guys, but it just it it falls hollow when the performance like the results aren’t there. So, you have to back those up with results. Tone says, “Really hoping the team can use this loss as motivation to beat Kansas City. we have overcome before. We just have to lock in. Yeah. I mean, look, we started last year 0 and2 where this year we’re one and two. So, we were in the virtually we were in the exact same position after three weeks, which is one and two. So, it’s not the sky isn’t falling. And I guess the best thing the the the the area in where I say, “All right, this is this is where I get the most like I I feel the most um optimistic uh about and that is the standings.” because I don’t feel good a lot when I just look at our team, when I look at our our roster, specifically on the defensive side, obviously there’s good things on the offense. There’s no doubt about it. But when you’re 32 again and you’re starting setting new records of of futility on the defensive side of the ball, it can take it out of you. But the one good thing we have is right in the center of that screen right here, and that is the AFC North standings. The Cincinnati Bengals started 2 and 0. They got absolutely embarrassed. They’re done for. they’re going to be giving up. You know, they’re going to plummet down the standings. The Pittsburgh Steelers again is a fraudulent two and one. That the two wins they have were were narrow wins over terrible teams. So, I don’t look at the Steelers as like, oh, they’re going to run away with this division. And then we know about the Browns issues on offense. They have the best probably the best defense in football, but probably the worst offense in football. So, they’re not going to go anywhere. So, the good news is while I don’t think there’s any chance that the Ravens are going to be, at least right now, it doesn’t look like they’re going to be competing for the one seed with the Bills and I mean the freaking Colts beating the hell out of teams, the Chargers absolutely school. I don’t think they’re going to compete with those teams for the the top spot, but why can’t they win the North, Jimbo? Like, Cincinnati’s done. They’ve given up. Pittsburgh, I mean, yeah, they’re they’re excited. They’re happy, but we all know, we’ve seen this before. They’re going to reveal themselves as the frauds that they are and they will be they’ll be dangling right around 500. We we know where they’ll end up. So, in that regard, I feel a little bit of optimism that the Ravens can still come out of the North. It might only be with 10 wins, but they could with 10 wins, I think. Yeah. I mean, if there’s something to be optimistic about, just like you said, M says, “I’m liking this cold story. Even if the Ravens don’t make the playoffs, what AFC or NFC storyline would you like to would keep you interested?” I gotta be honest, Msi. As I’ve gotten older, I don’t care about anybody else but the Ravens. It’s really hard for me, dude, to like get pumped about other storylines. I just don’t care. I’m just the old man on the porch. And if you ain’t with me, you’re against me. And I wish I had a better answer for you. Sure, the Danny Dimes comeback is kind of cool, but I don’t really care. Yeah. I mean, I I can’t ever find myself really rooting for any AFC teams, especially, look, most younger fans may not have any issues with the Colts, but my dad was old enough to to remember that team, and he’s instilled um a bit of a hatred for the Colts because of what they did to him and all the Ravens fan or the all the Colts fans in Baltimore when they packed up and left in the middle of the night, took their image, their likeness, all the record books from Baltimore where they belonged and took them to Indie. And I mean I I can tell you right now when my dad sees that helmet, it still makes him sick to his stomach to watch all that be an indie. So there is no chance I’ll be rooting for the Colts. Even if they do have a fun story, but I can see why you would, Massie, if certainly if you’re not from Baltimore, um or you don’t have roots that that go back a ways in Baltimore, I can see why you would. But it’s the NFC. I mean, look, even though they just beat the hell out of us, like, I wouldn’t be terribly, now, this is still pretty fresh, so it feels weird me even saying this, but I wouldn’t be terribly upset if the Lions were able to make a run simply because they’ve never won anything. True. They’ve never even gotten to the Super Bowl. Imagine being I mean, here we are. Like I mean, how spoiled are we Ravens fans, right? Like they’ve never even made it to the Super Bowl, Jim. Like I’ve noticed that the from the NFC perspective, you remember when we went to the Chief the Chiefs game, how the Chiefs fans, they would make a huge play and they would like golf clap like it was expected like, “Oh yeah, just another big play.” I feel like the Eagles fans are kind of getting like that a little bit. Like I like the Eagles as a franchise. I like Philly. I like I like the way they play football and stuff, but sometimes the fans are like, “Well, you know, this is we should this is what we expect.” Like, okay, all right. So, I wouldn’t mind if the Lions, you know, on the NFC side had a had a had a run. Um, but that being said, um, we should probably talk about Oh, let’s see. Rodway said, “Hey guys, don’t be stressed. We can’t motivate unmotivated people. Adversary shows true character.” Yeah. By the way, we have a Lions fan in the in the chat, and I mean, he’s he it looks like he’s arguing with a couple people about how far the Lions Imagine, just this is why I don’t feel bad if the Lions make a run. Imagine being a fan of a team where this guy has to argue, “We made it to the division round once.” Like, imagine being a fan of an organization where you’re like, “Where’s our banner? We made it past the wild card round.” Like, it’s it’s so it’s like I feel bad for him. I mean, you have to argue about when they they had to we made it to the division. Like, it’s it’s sad. So, um yeah. Anyway, I I just had to point that out. Rod Wave was getting into it with him a little bit and uh it it’s just funny like hey we made it like imagine typing that we made it to the division round and being proud of that like we’re sick to our stomach if that’s where we go. Seriously. So yeah, enjoy it Detroit fans. Absolutely. Now let’s get to uh our winner DK who was I believe perfect and a a vet was he in the show. Four out of four, right DK? David Cutsell. Can you put it up on the screen? Let’s go, baby. This is like his fourth time winning. I think it’s ridiculous. Um I think we already have your address, so I’ll I’ll make sure to get you a shirt. But uh I think that’s it for us tonight, folks. I think we’ll be back Friday unless there’s anybody in the contrary and we’ll talk about the winners of our overunder as well. Um but uh yeah, I think that’s it. What you want to do it now? All right, DK, do you want to throw it up there? You got something? Any cool graphic for us? You got anything cool for us? Heck no. No. What? What? I could not have guessed that. Jimbo. So, we’re all have a win now. Let’s go, baby. You think we planned this? Let’s go. By the way, DK 0 and four. Oh, how the turntables. [Laughter] Well, congratulations, Jimbo. Congratulations. You know, every blind squirrel finds a nut. The clock is right twice a day. So, uh, I’ll take the win today. Uh, but that’s it for us tonight, folks. Make sure to join us because whether or not we are overly positive about the Ravens. We’re always going to ride with them. We’ll be back. We’re going to hope for the best. We’re going to cheer them on no matter what. And we’ll see you guys on Friday.

Fans of the Baltimore Ravens are trying to find ways to explain the team’s struggles as of late. The front office is scrambling to sign defenders with rumors that Nnamdi Madubuike might be facing a serious injury situation.

  1. Another year of prime peak Lamar gone to waste and we’re not gonna be able to avoid to keep a lot of the talent we have rn. Shame man injuries happen but just organizational failures consistently letting us down. I said since the end of 23 that Harbaugh needed to be let go and Mike Macdonald become the new hc. The decision to keep him will forever haunt the organization and the fanbase

  2. I THINK THE DEFENSIVE PLAYERS ARE EITHER PISSED OFF AND THEY WANT ORR GONE OR OR THEY WANT HARBAUGH .. IT'S ONE OR THE OTHER WHEN THEY HAVE A NONCHALANT ATTITUDE AFTER GETTING THEIR ASSES WHIPPED

  3. Any year with a 5 spells doom. 2005? 2015? 2025? Its not looking good which is why its important to sease the opportunity when you have it. 2019 and 2023 might have been those opportunities.

  4. When the Brown stopped our running game every team, including Detroit is going to copy it and do it until we prove we can overcome that blitz on our run game tactic.
We’ve got another fullback on the practice squad not sure why we’re not using him

  5. Cheering for the Ravens to come out of the regular season with 10 wins just to be 1 and done in the playoffs is stupid. Orr ain't it. Harbaughs decision making and approval of game plans isn't either. Imagine having 4 attempts at the 1 yardline and putting the ball in the hands of historically the greatest passer in nfl history, 1 time. Lol

  6. C’mon now. This team under Harbaugh does not have the “eye of the tiger.” After practices, Harbaugh gives them ice cream, snow cones, field trips, and pool parties. And you wonder why we come across soft. The Bills stay in college dorms while training.

  7. We have only just passed week 3 and are 1-2, last year we were 0-2 with the same trash D and 1-2 heading into week 4. Yes we got handled on Monday and it was embarrassing to see but the world isn't ending guys come on its way way too early. The have a lot to figure out yet again and its ridiculous to think are back in the same position but Lamar and the O will have to carry the burden until they figure it out. Lets be honest the Ravens D struggles against high power offences that run the football and top QB's this issue hasn't been figured out at all. Will they make the playoffs, i fully expect so but don't expect the D to shut down the best out there coz it wont. Lamar and the O will have to play perfect to win, that's the reality. I agree with you about Marlo Jimmy my god what's he doing, i cant listen to that guy anymore smh

ZO is the biggest problem the D has outside of injuries. He started off being absolutely ass and the D was horrendous last season, Pees had to come in and hold his hand as guys were all over the place. Pees has now gone back upstairs and ZO has free reign again and we are back to looking absolute ass. If we make the Chiefs who have been putrid look like the greatest show on turf this Sunday he has to go
