What is the problem with the Blue Jays’ offence?
Here’s MLB.com’s Keegan Mat. Keegan, the Jays and Yankees now tied to top the AL East. Could you could you surmise the recent downfall of this team by simply saying the Yankees superstars have put their team on their backs and the Jay superstars simply have not. That’s about it, Jay. And that’s the simplest way to go about it. And this is simple season at this point of the year. The Blue Jays do not have time to wait for all nine hitters to come back and have every single thing click. You’ve got time in June and July. You don’t have time for that now. The Blue Jays need one big swing from one big player. Probably Vladimir Guerrero Jr. But watching those two games tonight, Aaron Judge hit his 50th. A three-run shot on the first pitch he saw in a second AB. Vlatty got ejected. Those are two very different paths, two very different innings, and now they meet right at the top, tied in the AL East. It’s shocking that we’re here at this point. and deja vu all over again for Max Scherzer. How would you describe his outing on Wednesday? A lot of the same, Jay. Like you said, we’re having the same conversation with Max over and over. It feels like after these starts, his last one in KC that was ugly. He kind of wiped that one away. But you’re seeing him struggle in the first inning and you’re seeing him give up home runs. Neither of those are a great mix with the postseason when you are seeing one, two, threes at the top of orders who are really, really good. Maybe Aaron Judge involved in some of those as well. So, the Blue Jays need Sherzer to get right and they need it to happen quickly because again, not much season left, not much time to work with. But I wonder, Keegan, do you think Max Sherzer just pitched himself out of the Jay’s postseason rotation on Wednesday? That might be hard to do at this point, Jay. It’s more a matter of necessity, I think, at this point than performance because Jose just threw his first bullpen outing in a decade. So, that’s not going to happen. Chris Basset’s on the IIL. So when I look at Kevin Gosman, Shane Bieber, Treya Savage probably is the number three. Sherzer might still be there as the number four. The Blue Jays would need this to turn around in a big way if he is, but the Blue Jays are up against it with the rotation depth, which was again a surprise. Not a conversation we had all season, but they’re up against it now. Here’s the positive thing. Jays do still hold the tiebreaker over the Yankees should the standings remain tied after 162 games. Uh, we’re digging for positives at this point. Keegan Mat, thanks for this, buddy. You got it, Jay.
What has been the Blue Jays biggest downfall this week? What did you make of Max Scherzer’s start? Has Scherzer pitched himself out of a postseason rotation spot? Blue Jays reporter Keegan Matheson joins SC with Jay Onrait to discuss.

Because vladdy is a overrated, overpaid dud
Jays are toast. Season is over.
Even career seasons by players on a roster cannot makeup for an incompetent management team. In the midst of a battle for the AL east title, the Jays management after having a 6 man rotation, are forced to throw a bullpen game on 4th last game of the season. How does that happen? Atkins and Schneider are morons.
The Jays aren’t the only teams tanking at the worst time look at Detroits epic collapse and the Astros might not even get in.
Hot garbage ass team. Vladdy is the most unclutch, overrated “fake star” ass player.
Jays went from 1st to probably being a wild card. They shouldn't have been celebrating when they made the playoffs. Learn how to hit the ball dummies
That video ended as badly as the Jays season
Well, at least hockey season is starting…
Kirk is gassed…play Tyler. Vladdy is only good when it doesn't matter.
Grandout Gurrero Jr. is a big reason as to why
Tampa bay gets 3 run homerun even thought interference
Varsho catches and then called not a catch
9th inning called a hit when it was foul
George springer got hit, not a hit
George springers hit gets called foul
Then gets called out on strikes when it was a clear ball
Calls that clear as day should have gone their way did not. It’s not the call, but the frustration it creates when you know it’s not fair and now the whole team is feeling it, throws off their game and becomes the only thing they think about. Especially that all these calls happened in the last 6 games. Somehow, some way, they have to stop giving them what they want, lose the emotions and play baseball.
Vladimir "Mich Marner" Guerrero Jr is ridiculously over paid, you get that type of money you HAVE to win games on your own! Stop smiling all the time and man up!
Unfortunately Jays are "choking" exactly at the worst time. This is the diff between a "veteran" team who has "been there" and can embrace the pressure and the "kids" who tend to freeze at the Big Stage. Veterans like Springer, Gausman, are clearly stepping it up. Jays just need to get to Post Season more, and get used to being under a Microscope.
The Jays brass should make sure to resign Bo Bichette because his loss has been horrible for the Jays.
AAA players are starting to show why they are AAA players
The turning point was when the brain trust decided their most consistent starting pitcher should move to the bullpen??? Now they moved Berrios there to. Guess what today's game is a bullpen day.. Omfg. These jackasses are the same idiots that pulled Berrios out of that playoff game and he was pitching lights out. Biggest hurdle for the Bluejays is the management team all of them.. The body language not projecting very good vibe right now looks like they are done like dinner wha wha. Rogers better clean house after this year.
All teams go through dry spells. It’s how long it lasts that matters. Any real baseball fan knows that. Let’s just hope we snap out of it. I’ve never been a bigger Orioles fan than I am right now.
Yankees are a good chance of sweeping White Sox and Orioles at home. Which means we have to win today, then sweep Tampa Bay. Haha not looking good – have we ever swept the Rays?
Here come all the experts 😂
All the big boys should be paid based on performance. Gladdy isn't worth anywhere near what they are paying him.
Where's the reporting on obvious bias calls going against the Jays that there's video proof of. Every reporter that covers baseball that doesn't report the bias by umps or video reviews has a job why? None of these reporters are so good that they can't be replaced. Get rid of them and shine a light on something that has been going on before this year!
