It’s surreal. I can’t even believe it yet still. And I found out a couple months ago, the other day I was just at home and I was just sitting in my room and I was just like, “Wow.” I actually got a text from Dante Maratelli. He said, “Dwight, just think about this for 1/8 of your career in the out of the 80 years of basketball, you have dominated 1/8 of those 80 years.” That’s amazing to think about. And now I’m in the Hall of Fame, that magic jersey. [Music] To me, what does that mean? That mean I’ve set a standard for the game of basketball and that forever my name will be connected to the game of basketball and now it’s my job to protect it. So, you know, I have that orange coat and you know, it’s kind of like I made it to the men in black or the secret service. What’s up, man? What you doing out here? You know, working. How you doing? It meant a lot. One of the big men’s and you know, I I’ve always been fascinated with his stature coming right out the shack and and really making a standpoint. Actually, his smile was always making it fun. The NBA these days look too serious. So, it was it was it was a refreshing to see someone like Dwight in the NBA. Um, Carmelo, excuse me. He’s on my speaker, man. Are you streaming? No, no, no. They stay time. Oh, that’s fine. Okay. No, not right now. No, I want to stream right now. Actually, we are live. This a stream right here. Say what’s up to everybody. Yeah. Yeah. I forgot. Yeah. So, I used to say he playing against Dwight cuz he threw a lot of elbows. Like he was just he just a physical specimen, man. You know that. And I know that wasn’t my position down there, but I like to go in the paint. I like to bang. I like to be physical. And when you need somebody, when you get a physical specimen like that, you got to you got to change your game plan up quick. Yes, sir. And uh we’ll hear that part two rhyme tonight. Part two. The Men in Orange. The album being released. The Men in Orange, baby. Here come the mini orange. Hey, basketball defenders. Hey, here comes the mini orange. Hey, what’s that? Basketball defenders. Part two part two is coming later on. We’ll see y’all. [Applause] Hey jump shot to remember. [Applause] You see stuff. Yeah. Orlando magic. Where at? This is actually from a little kid that saw me at um an event, a signing event, and he asked could he give this to me, and I’ve been wearing it ever since. I haven’t taken it off. And I saw him again at another event, the little kid, and he ran up to me to see if I had the bracelet on, and he he started crying. He was so happy that I still had it on. No lie. And I always keep this. Explain it to them. Hall of Fame. What you think going on this weekend? They’re going to the Hall of Fame. You know what that is? Yeah. What is it? It’s like a place where basketball players like go when they’re really good. Going up when they’re great. Yeah. That’s what that means. Mhm. Watch. Hey. Here comes the mini orange. I got to get some tissue. Exactly. One day we played oneonone and he elbowed me in the chest and that’s what woke me up. That’s what got me ready for the NBA cuz I tried to be big and tough and bad. And he elbowed me boom right in the chest. I said, “Oh, that’s what that feel like. I’m going to the league. I’m ready now. But yeah, if I wasn’t if it wasn’t for him, I wouldn’t be here today in the in the Hall of Fame. So, got to give a shout out Coach Courtney Brooks and the rest of the coaching staff, Southwest Atlanta Christian Academy. This is a tremendous honor uh to be here just to witness this. Uh it was great coaching. One of the best players I’ve ever is the best player I ever coached uh in high school. and uh just from where we started to grind from being in small gyms and weight rooms to now here it is he’s in the hall of fame. So it just confirms what we always believe. James 2:26 faith without works is dead. So put our faith without works work through our faith. That’s what we always preach and here it is. Next up, Dwight Howard. [Applause] Dwight was a threetime NBA defensive player of the year, an eighttime AllNNBA selection, and a 2020 NBA champion with the Los Angeles Lakers. Presenting Dwight’s Hall of Fame jacket and his ring is his father, Dwight Howard, Senior, and his high school coach, Courtney Brooks. [Applause] Make sure my grandma was in there, my family, my friends. Pretty cool, man. Hall of Fame, baby. Oh my god. I had some pretty good rings in my life, but these two mean the world to me. Yeah, baby. This is so tough. Yes, it is. Dang. Hall of Fame. [Music] I’m a mother and to see your son achieve or your child period achieving such something that they really really love. What can you say? It’s a God thing. God has been so good to him. So good. And I’m so happy. And for the city of Orlando, I always love you and I know my son love you. And wow, this is really happening, you know. [Music] How would I summarize my career? I would say roller coaster. A lot of ups, a lot of downs, a lot of smiles, a lot of frowns. Uh, but all in all, the race was amazing and I I made it to the finish line healthy u with same mind and I’m proud of my [Music] Superman is a superhero who was sent to Earth by his parents to benefit humanity. You can make a very strong case that that Superman sure sounds a lot like Dwight Howard. Welcome Dwight to the Hall of Fame of four alltime great Shaquille O’Neal, Patrick Ewing, Dominique Wilkins, and Robert Paris. Let’s hear it for Bill White Howard. [Applause] All right, man. Wow. I really can’t believe this, man. And I’m just so blessed to be able to stand here in front of all of you, honored as one of the greatest basketball players ever. [Applause] Well, just to know that, you know, they get a chance to my family get a chance to see me get into the Hall of Fame. My kids get a chance to see me walk in my greatness. They get a chance they they’ve watched a lot of my games, but they were so young. But now to actually have an understanding and to see their father getting into a new arena of greatness is like it’s bar none. It’s nothing compares to it. Like I just sitting there thinking about how they would view this like dang my pops made it. Like that’s tough. Pops. Mom, I am an extension of you. I always have and I always will be. Pops, when I was 10, I said, “I know I can be the number one pick in the NBA draft.” And you believed in me as much as I did. But you wanted me to commit to it. I wrote down my goals and I placed them above my bed along with my cross. And you helped me work to achieve those goals day after day. Look at how life works. Pops, mom, your son is in the Hall of Fame. sack. We do not always see eye to eye, but in hindsight, I believe it was just sibling rivalries. We are brothers in this fraternity of basketball and sometimes brothers fight over the stupidest stuff. Shaq is considered the one of the greatest centers and the most dominant center. One of my favorite players to watch and to learn from. So, as one Superman to another, I thought it’d be great to have him walk me out. I know we’ve had our issues in the past, but, you know, just want to show people, you know, how we can all mature and grow with time and experience. You know, we’ve we’ve fought about childish things. We’ve had arguments, but at the end of the day, you know, I respect him and what he’s brought to the game. And I also respect, you know, how he’s uh carried himself as a businessman and stuff like that. and I aspire to be that. So, uh, why not have him walking me out into my next area of greatness? I just want y’all to know that the two original Superman is in the building today and it’s an honor to have you walk me out into this arena of greatness. I leave you guys with this. This is your universe. This is your one song. How do you want your song to sound when people hear it? Will they want to throw it out or run it back? And remember, you only die once, but you live every day. Thank you and God bless you all. Today was amazing. Thank you to all my friends and family that showed up and showed it out, man. It’s for y’all, man. We all in the Hall of Fame. We in the hall, baby. All of us in the Hall of Fame, man. We in the hall. It’s crazy. Hey, I know up there. What’s up, big fella? How are you, man? Hey, keep coming, man. I really appreciate y’all coming. I’m happy. Big Hey, congratulations. Hey, congratulations. My wife said to give you a big hug. Oh, give me a hug. Give me another one. Thank you. Good to see you. Congratulations. Congratulations. This is Wow. Thank you guys so much. Thank you for real. We’re proud of you. We’re proud of you. Congratulations. Thank you, man. Looking back on it, it’s like, man, God really has truly blessed me. And then now to be called one of the greatest myself, it’s it’s incredible. Hey y’all, guess what? We’re in the Hall of Fame. [Applause] Hall of Fame, baby. See y’all in heaven. [Music]
