We’ll talk about the start on the program this evening from Quinn Pier. For my everydayers, you know how I feel about Quinn Prester. So, we were we’ll certainly dive into the start from Quinn Pier. A big seventh inning from this game. We’ll talk about it, but before the Brewers could get to the seventh inning, it’s what happened right before that. We’ll talk about that uh for uh for the outcome and how that played into tonight’s 5-2 victory. And as well as the magic number for the National League Central Division, falling down two games tonight. Remember, it was six yesterday, it is now four. The Brewers getting the victory this evening, five-2 over the Angels at American Family Field and the Cincinnati Reds. Hunter Green tossing a complete game. A a shut out, a one- nothing win for the Reds over the Cubs also helps the Brewers lower that Magic number down a game. So, we’ll discuss all of that, including your thoughts, your reactions, and of course, and after a 5 to2 win, your celebrations are welcomed on the program. But, we will get into our scoring summary this evening. Our scoring summary tonight brought to you by FiveHour Energy and Monarch Money and we couldn’t do it without our guys over there at 5Hour Energy and Monarch. So, let’s get into your scoring summary. Quinn Pester on the mound tonight for the Brew Crew and he would get a lift in the fourth. Nothing in the first three innings for either one of these teams. It It was a really fast-paced moving game. It felt like it was going really, really quick. But Caleb Durban, an infield single in the fourth inning would help give the Brewers a one- nothing lead there in the bottom half of the fourth inning with two outs. And Caleb Durban is going to be a name I want to put a pin in uh for later on. Uh but then the Angels would respond a two-run home run off of the bat of Ren uh Renjifo for the uh uh I was going to say Anaheim Angels, the Los Angeles Angels. And up until that point, Quinn Prester was pitching a perfect game. He lost it earlier in that at bat with a walk and then he lost the no hitter in the fifth inning off of the 386 ft two-run shot uh to right center that gave the Angels a 2-1 advantage in the fifth in the and Quinn Priest absolutely lights out in this game. He went five and two/3s. We’ll talk about him later on in this game, but Pat Murphy would bring in Aaron Ashby to finish things off in the sixth inning. And that’s when the that’s really when this game started to kind of shift and we’ll talk about it uh coming up here shortly. The bottom of the h bottom half of the sixth inning, Caleb Durban with a single to center. That would tie the game up at two apiece. The top of the seventh inning in this one tonight. Again, the Brewers are we’re going to talk about what they did offensively, but they couldn’t have gotten to that point offensively without the glove of Blake Perkins. That’s tonight’s turning point in a 5 to2 win. Time to reveal where the game was won or lost. It’s the turning point. So, Chris Taylor, if you famously remember, maybe not famously, but if you do remember Chris Taylor and what he did, the catch he made in the NLCS, uh, when he played for the Dodgers back in 2018, uh, robbing what could have been a very monstrous hit for the Brewers. And maybe that’s a different outcome in that series a handful of years ago. Two on. The game was tied at this point, two apiece. Guys on second, guys on third. Chris Taylor with an absolute shot to left center and Blake Perkins running the ball down. A sliding catch into that left center fence, locking that inning up and getting out of that without any damage done. Going to the bottom half of the seventh inning. And that’s where the Brewers broke the game open. Three runs in in total scoring in the seventh inning. A terrain single, a Christian Yelich double, and a sacrifice fly off the bat of Andrew Vaughn would help plate three runs in this one. And the Brewers would hold on. That would be all the scoring they need. Shout out to Abner Urebe. Shout out to Jared Kanine who uh who locked things down, got his second save of the season. And who Jared Kan has been absolutely lights out. A bit of a tight walk there for Abner in the eighth inning. He struck out a couple of batters. Uh but it wasn’t, you know, 24 total pitches thrown in the eighth inning for Abner, but he got the job done. And again, Aaron Ashby getting the victory this evening. But we’d be remissed not to mention Quinn Pier in tonight’s ball game, getting the start for the Brewers. And without further ado, your Lockdown Brewers postcast player of the game. This is the locked on player of the game. Again, guys, there’s there’s a couple rules with the locked on Brewers postcast player of the game. If you walk the game off, you automatically get player of the game uh nomination. However, there’s two of them. There’s two names I got to mention this evening. Quinn Pster tonight, and again, if you have double- digit strikeouts, but going back to my original point, you also get the locked on Brewers postgame. Quinn Prester tonight, absolutely fantastic. We talked about what he did going into that fifth inning. He had a perfect game going into that fifth inning. Allowed a walk and then eventually the two-run home run. And it really wasn’t even a bad pitch. It was a slider, you know, not even really in the zone. Uh a good, you know, bat-on ball approach for the Angels. Played to two runs with that two-run shot there in the uh in the fifth inning. But that would be it for Quinn Preer. That’s all he would surrender. Just three hits. That home run being one of them. Five and two/3 innings. 10 strikeouts for Quinn Pier. The Brewers have now won 19 straight games that Quinn Prester has made an appearance in. They all they do is is win when Quinn uh Quinn Prester is on the mound. And that certainly was the case this evening. He was electric. You talked about we talked about a couple nights ago Freddy Peralta starting the game out hot. Uh Quinn Pster struck out the first six batters you guys in this game. He had eight strikeouts in the first nine batters in this ball game. So you talk about setting a tone. You talk about, you know, giving your team an a chance to win a ball game and to complete a series sweep, which is still hard to do. I I understand the Angels aren’t a very good team. I understand they’re not a playoff team and they’re not playing baseball up to the expectations that maybe they thought they were going to be this year, but it’s tough to do what the Brewers did. They complete not only the the three-game sweep of the Angels, but they finish off a really strong home stand at American Family Field. 5- one, including two three against the Cardinals, and then obviously the three straight against the Angels. And just three more games. It’s kind of crazy to to say out loud. We’ve been doing this all year now, just three more games at American Family Field. But the most important thing right now is the Brewers magic number continuing to dwindle down. Uh with the win tonight, the 5-2 win over the Angels and a Cubs loss uh brings that magic number from six to four six for the uh number one overall seed in the National League Central Division. We mentioned Quinn Pester as being the locked on Brewers postcast player of the game, but I would be remissed if I didn’t mention Caleb Durban this evening. And Caleb Durban was again it it feels like he always comes up clutch at least as of late. Two of three this evening. His two hits created two runs batted in. We mentioned he got the the original run across the board in this game for the Brewers in the fourth. But he also tied the game up in the sixth inning which was huge because it allowed for this game to go to and then obviously Blake Perkins but keeping that game close. Caleb Durban part of that obviously tying it back up and Blake Perkins playing a huge role in securing that out there that that sliding catch to keep it uh tied going into the the bottom half of the seventh. But Caleb Durban with both of his runs batted batted in this evening. Both of them were with two outs in the inning. So Caleb Durban just continues to come up clutch for this Brewers team. So I’d be remissed if I did not mention Caleb Dur. An honorable uh mention for the locked on Brewers postcast player of the game. But again, Quinn Preer, you guys know how I feel about Quinn, number one. But number two, it’s an automatic rule and they locked down Brewers post, guys. If you get the win, I understand Quinn didn’t get the win, uh, you know, on the record books, but he he pitched lights out this evening. Five and two/3, 10 strikeouts, 93 total pitches thrown. I did put on my Twitter, Brandon Snide in the fifth, and I understand why Pat Murphy pulled him. You obviously don’t want to overexert going into the postseason. You already clinched a spot. you’re likely to clinch a division m you know maybe this weekend potentially this weekend certainly can happen this weekend uh with the Brew uh the Cubs in Cincinnati still and the Milwaukee Brewers heading back out to St. Louis to finish that season series. I would have left Quinn into the in and finish the six and I understand why Pat Murphy did it. I understand they were getting you know some better contact on Quinn Pierers certainly going that third time through the order but I thought Quinn was absolutely fantastic. We talked about the numbers going into uh you know the first six batters, the eight of nine striking out first eight of nine batters he faced tonight. Quinn Per setting the tone and just has been lights out. We’re going to talk a little bit more about Quinn Preer because I I I think I may have a I don’t know if it’s a hot take, but I think I have a take that maybe not everybody’s going to agree on. We’ll talk about that. I also do want to mention though a a quick shout out. We talked about him. We didn’t have a show last night because of my locked on Packers duties, but we talked about it on Tuesday. The comeback player of the year, Christian Yelich, no home run tonight, so he’s still searching for number 30, but he did get to a 100 runs batted in this year. What a fantastic story that Christian Yelich coming back from that back surgery, coming back from that, you know, and you guys know if you have a a bad back or a sore back, you know how difficult it can be to to just do daily activities for Christian Yellow to do what he’s done this year in a Brewers uniform. Coming back from major surgery and being the leader in the clubhouse, on the field, you know, outside of of the game of baseball and being who he is, he’s just been absolutely fantastic. and he gets his hundth run batted in tonight. So, I I high hopes for for Yelli to get some some uh some regular season awards. Obviously, the Brewers have bigger aspirations, but uh comeback player of the year certainly should be on the mantle for Christian Yelich. I I kind of teased it there a little bit. I I have something I want to talk about with you guys. Maybe we can talk through it. It’s about the postseason rotation and maybe we don’t agree. We’ll talk about that coming up after this. A five-2 victory tonight for our Milwaukee Brewers, completing the six-game home stand with a 5 in one record, completing the three-game sweep over the LA Angels. A fantastic performance tonight all around. A very Brewers win this evening. A scrappy win, a defensive win, good pitching helping, timely hitting being a big factor in this one. As we mentioned, the Brewers plating three runs in the seventh, breaking a 2-2 tie, actually coming back. They were down 2-1 at one point in this game. And it’s a story that we’ve kind of all talked about with this Brewers, four for nine with runners in scoring position, and you get the victory. So, good things happen when you put the ball in play. I want to touch base real quick on the things you’ll be talking about tomorrow. Before we get to your thoughts and your reactions, cuz I see you guys lined up on the live YouTube chat, let’s talk about that playoff rotation and the things you’ll probably be talking about tomorrow after a 5 to2 win. This is what you’ll be talking about. This has come up in a few group chats. It certainly have come up in on social media and I think it’s a good fun problem to discuss the playoff rotation for our Milwaukee Brewers. And yes, we already are are looking ahead to the playoffs. The Brewers are in the playoffs. They’re they’re going to win the division hopefully this weekend and lock that up and then they’ll focus on on getting a top two seed in the National League Central or excuse me in the National League in general. I will say this, uh, after a little bit of debate, a little bit of back and forth with myself, with fans, with with, uh, people on social media, with friends and family, if the playoffs, if the Brewers are fully healthy and the starting rotation’s fully healthy, Quinn Priest for me is getting the game one ball for the NLDS. And I know some people have some thoughts, some feelings in regards to that. I understand Freddy Peralta has won 17 games. He’s been your ace, a 265 erra. He’s been fantastic. Brandon Woodruff is is is a leader. He’s he’s a solid starter in any rotation and certainly has been fantastic since coming back from his major shoulder surgery. I’m rolling the ball out with Quinn Pester, man. I I just the dude has been absolutely lights out really since I that early start in May, right? like that’s, you know, he was fairly new into the Brewers organization after they made that trade with Boston and acquired Quinn Pester, but he has been everything and so much more that this team has needed and probably quite frankly thought they were going to get. 19 straight victories now for this Brewers team. When Quinn Preer makes an appearance on the mound, you remember when Quinn Preer first got traded to Milwaukee, he was, you know, opening up. There were there was guys starting the game for him. Uh that certainly has not been the case as of late. He’s just been absolutely fantastic. If the playoffs were to start tomorrow and the Brewers are going to play whoever in the National League Divisional Series, I’m starting Quinn Pier in game one. I’m curious where your thoughts are on that because I know a lot of people uh I probably some of you still think Jacob Miserowski should have that opportunity. I don’t. I think Jacob Misowski should be out of the bullpen. Some of you probably think it should be Freddy Peralta because he’s been that steady ace all year long. There’s probably a handful of you that think it should be Brandon Woodruff because he’s the unsung hero, the the leader, no doubt about what he brings to uh this organization, you know, from his standpoint, but I’m giving Quinn Preer the the game one ball uh rolling him out to start a game to start the playoffs for me uh upcoming. You know, granted, everybody is healthy going forward, but I the way Quinn Pier has pitched over the last four months, I I don’t have any other reason uh to give it to anybody else right now. And again, it’s a good problem because it’s a fun problem because you can’t really go wrong, right? Like I just think that the way that Quinn has been, you know, dominating teams as of late, I I just I’ I’d roll with Quinn Pier in game one of a playoff series. Your thoughts, your reactions. We begin with Everyday. Charles, nice win. Too bad Priest couldn’t get the win. Came out on fire. Yeah, it was an annoying part. I would have left him in for the six, but that’s just me. I understand the game uh at that moment in time wasn’t in hand either for the Brewers, but I thought he pitched so good. Just that one very tiny mistake. Uh and again, wasn’t even really a bad pitch. It was just a better hit. And that was the only mistake of the game for Quinn Priest. Five and two/3 including 10 strikeouts. Jacob, was there any doubt? I know we were going to sweep the Angels with our big three starters on the mound this series. Let’s keep it rolling. This was probably one of those series where I really, you know, it’s been kind of nice and I don’t want to say relaxing because you still want to win every game. You still want to play really good baseball. We all know the division’s been locked up now for a couple of weeks. You’re just kind of scoreboard watching a little bit with Philly. Uh, and the Phillies not in action this evening. The Dodgers finally doing the Brewers a favor last night. Um, but that’s kind of where my focus has been as opposed now obviously if you’re a you want the Brewers win because that plays into the factor of the magic number for that overall number one seed in the National League, but it it it certainly feels good to know that the Cubs are kind of in the rearview mirror and now you can focus uh on a team outside of the division. Gap, what a series. It would have been nice to clinch the Central while they were still at home, but that makes the homecoming even sweeter. Can you believe we get to be in this golden timeline of Brewers baseball? I mentioned it before and we we’ve talked about it, man. This is the golden the golden age. Like we will tell our grandkids, our kids, you know, whoever growing up that, you know, this was it. Like this was the best time to be a Brewers fan. Now, you want to see that, you know, capitalize that going into the postseason and have a a fun run. And obviously, winning championships are very still hard to do. Uh, but this is simply amazing, guys. You and I, we didn’t think this was going to happen in in in at the end of March, you know, with a starting, you know, the se the season the way the Brewers did and torpedo bats being the talk of the town and the Brewers getting run out of games and uh, nobody really healthy and and trying to piece together a starting rotation with with scraps and trading for a guy, you know, like Quinn Pester and and trying to put things together on the fly and nothing really working. And here we are, guys, at 94 wins. They’re two wins away from tying a franchise record. They’re three wins away from taking over the franchise record for wins in a regular season. I It’s crazy to just say that out loud. It’s absolutely crazy. I give so much credit to the everybody within that organization. I mean, from from ownership on down, and I know a lot of people don’t ever want to give Mark Antinasio a lot of credit, but he he he’s got to have it. I mean, this I mean, this is his run, right? I mean, this is his run now. You want to see it capitalize into October and you want to see good things and good results into October, but from from Mark all the way down to to to single a ball to I mean, it’s been everybody deser deserves a ton of credit for this Brewers uh run that we’re seeing. Every day Jason over on YouTube, let’s keep the momentum going and get ready for a big postseason ahead. Go Brewers. The good thing is you can kind of you can sort of kind of put this division in your rearview mirror here. hopefully this weekend. Focus on that one or two seed which I think you know will happen regardless uh for the Brewers. But you also too want to just get some guys back like Trevor McIll a tiny setback uh spoke before the game today said he feels decent. You want to get that you want to get him back into uh the bullpen like how important as we all know as Brewer fans how important a really solid back end of a bullpen is in a game you know when you get into the postseason. So, it’s certainly going uh to be uh important to just get some guys uh back healthy. Glory Days Sports Consulting on YouTube. Brandon and Mustin Game. Priest is my guy for a game three. Yeah. And I can I I think I’ve put it on Twitter. I would go Freddy. I I think a couple weeks ago I said Freddy, Woody, Quinn, but I’ve changed my mind with Quinn. you know, maybe in a game three you put a guy like Woodruff who has that experience, who’s pitched in that ball game before, who’s pitched in a game seven before, you know, may for me right now, if you’re asking me, okay, who you going out with those first three? For me, it’s Quinn, Freddy, Woody, and because Quinn, I think he’s been the best pitcher as of late. Freddy has been fantastic, but if it gets to, you know, a must-win game and you need you need Brandon Woodruff out there for game three, Brandon Woodruff has been in those situations. He’s been in those moments. And uh I don’t know if that’s fair to necessarily ask. I know Freddy has too. Freddy’s been around for a bit, too. But I don’t know, has Quinn been in those positions? I don’t think so. And I don’t know if I necessarily would want him in there. But again, you know, there’s some push back on that. I understand that. That’s going to be a dividing uh conversation. But I mean, the way Quinn has pitched, the way he’s been leading this rotation, you know, for 19 straight wins, I mean, I think he’s earned that opportunity. Cody over on YouTube, I think Miz should be a closer type in bullpen. And I’ve been saying Per needs to be a game one starter. No offense to Freddy Proto. So, Cody agreeing with me. I appreciate it, Cody. I do think Jacob Miserowski needs to be put out into the bullpen. I understand that’s also now another hot topic debate. uh certainly was uh you know with a couple of groups that I’m in where uh they still believe in him. They don’t think the first few starts that he had were any fluke and I don’t either. I mean talent is obviously there. He’s he he has the goods but he just right now has to control those and that was always the question mark surrounding Jacob Mizerowski. Not a whale over on YouTube. As a kid in the late 90s, early 2000s I dreamed of what it would feel like to have our crew be in this position. It feels really good. Yeah. you 10 let’s see what yeah about 10 years ago 15 years ago we you know when we were celebrating you know 2011 was great 2008 was absolutely great but like it was inconsistent right a couple years in between now it’s the standard like now it’s the standard for the Brewers to not only be in the division you know conversation to win that championship to put another banner at American Family Field but also to be in that conversation of like let’s go out and win the World Series because we are that team and have that team and it’s absolutely crazy. I just I I can’t wrap my head around what this this team this year it’s different. Last year was wire-to-wire division championship, right? It was it was really never close. The Brewers at this time last year had already locked up the division. This year feels different because everything was kind of put against them, right? They just weren’t healthy. A very tough schedule. Uh just a quirky couple of road trips scattered in there going out west for three games, coming back home. It was just just weird and very up and down and the Cubs got off to a really good start and even the Cardinals in May were, you know, playing really good baseball and then you thought, okay, maybe the Reds will make a little bit of a run, but that, you know, that obviously didn’t happen. Still have an opportunity for the wild card for the Reds, but it was it’s been remarkable. And then you go on an 11game win streak. You almost get free burgers in July. Then you go on a 14game win streak in August. and and it’s just it’s it you can’t help but smile thinking about it, but it is it’s incredible what this team has accomplished this year and I do believe they’ll get to 97 wins. Nine games left on the season. Nick over on YouTube, I agree. Both Freddy and Woody can get hit hard if they are not on their stuff. Miz to the pen. So Nick agreeing with me as well, starting Quinn Preer in game one. It’s a fun it’s fun conversation. We’ll certainly have it. Uh I don’t think Pat Murphy is going to go to Quinn, but that’s just me. I I the way that he has pitched uh has been just so incredibly awesome and it’s good to see for a guy that a highly drafted guy didn’t work out in a couple of organizations but guess what found his way here in Milwaukee and now he is one of the best pitchers in baseball five and two/3 10ks and a 5-2 victory tonight for our Brewers that magic number going down to four. We should hopefully celebrate maybe this weekend a a a National League Central Division Championship together. A quick show note, no show tomorrow. Uh my son will be out at a high school football game. So I will be uh doing those duties out there. Um so we’ll pick things back up on Saturday uh evening. A later start there in uh St. Louis. A 6:40 I believe it is out there in St. Louis on Saturday. So we’ll pick things back up on Saturday. But as always, my thanks to each and every one of you. Thank you guys for always tuning in. Thank you for always making Lockdown Brewers part of your day each and every day. Who knows? We’ll see what the the Reds can do for uh for the Brewers out against the Chicago Cubs. We’ll talk to you soon. As always, it certainly feels better after a a 5-1 home stand, a three-game sweep over the Angels, and a magic number going from six to four. But as always, it is always go Brewers. Have a good one, everyone. See you.

The Milwaukee Brewers finished off a three-game sweep of the Los Angeles Angels on Thursday night at American Family Field with a 5–2 victory. Quinn Priester was steady on the mound, allowing just two runs over 5 2/3 innings, while the Brewers’ offense broke a 2–2 tie in the seventh with a clutch three-run frame. With the win, Milwaukee’s magic number to clinch the NL Central drops to 4.

Brewers overall record: 94-59
Brewers record on the road: 43-32
Brewers record at home: 51-27

  1. Gotta be pitching rotation of
    1) Freddy
    2) Quinn
    3) woody
    4) Quintana (as long as he’s healthy)

Allows for game 5 in NLDS to be Freddy and if they go 5 for Quinn to be game 1 for NLCS

  2. I pause the video and you're about to talk about what the postseason rotation should be. I've been saying since Misiorowski came up It should be him. However, I believe it should be Quintana. Misiorowski would be a great asset as a long reliever IMO.

    1. Freddy
    2. Priester
    3. Woodruff
    4. Quintana

If we have an off day during the series, we wouldn't even need a fourth starter.

  3. PS I actually wouldn't have a problem with Quinn Priester being the game one starter for the first playoff series. I think he has been the most consistent pitcher on our staff this season. Some might argue that it is Peralta, but Peralta can sometimes get into trouble with walking too many batters IMO

  4. I've had a theory that the team plays better with a Priester start than a Freddie start because Quinn works quickly and efficiently and gets the team back in the dugout fresh and fired up…Freddie on the other hand noodles around with too many full counts, 25-30 pitch innings. Lulls the team to sleep at times with his long innings. That said, Freddie has earned Ace status and has not missed a start in the past three seasons.
