NHL Preseason Highlights | Maple Leafs vs. Canadiens – September 25, 2025
tonight against a very good Montreal lineup. Probably 75% of what we’ll see on opening night against Toronto in a couple of weeks. Nick Suzuki for the faceoff against David Camp and we’re underway. He was 1 and 17 the year before that. So slow starts have really give him an average start. He’s going to end up with a pretty good season where he finishes. Go for a chance now for Lton steaming in. In comes Scott Lton with a chance. Shoot. scores over the shoulder of Sam Monson though and Toronto takes a one- nothing lead on the goal by Scott Lton. Good defensive positioning as Puck gets cleared around the boards getting the shooting lane and he’s off to the races. Understands he’s not going to be able to get the puck all the way to the far post. You got to shoot it before you get closed off by the defenseman. And I’m surprised that Montbo didn’t get further out of his net. He’s very deep. Cole scores Rick Wine for Matis jumping in. Mike Matson works in down to throw it back in front. It’ll be gets the pad down and hangs on in a loose spot. Lot puts it back down to the Montreal zone as primal work goes back to the Iowa Wild of the American League. Now the file along a wrist shot that’s gloved by Montabone. He hangs on back at the point. That shot deflecting wide from Cade Weber. There’s Benning back with it. Jennings shoots, deflected in front, possible. Makes the stop. Nicely waved off as Trund goes back. Hilly be out to play it. Did not allow a goal in his two periods against Ottawa. Shoots a puck deflected wide by Jack. Got a stick on that. Thompson back around for Jackie. Bounces back in front of his backand. He finds Velli trying to play it out. And Machelli goes to center ice McMahon. He’s got lot with him. Foot back in front. Oh, he had slides it by Montbo and Scott Lton scored twice here in the first period to give Toronto a two nothing lead. Off the rush we didn’t see much of. This isn’t a strong play. Jelly gets bailed out there, but bank pass McMahon. McMahon kicks it over to L. He had a wide open five pole. I thought he missed it, but he managed to rattle it home. You’re Thompson and you’re going to run at McMahon. You need to know that Lton’s covered. Knocked down the line by Thompson. Played back in the corner by Mesar. Thompson back across the line. A moves it and shoots. And with a stop on that in for Cfield. Lot of Matis. Back to Cfield. Mat slides it back across to Suzuki with a shot. The glove save made by Hildabby. Mats back to Cfield. Rink wide to Suzuki. Here he comes again. He’s draw pass to Mats it up and shoot scores. Mike Mat from distance ties it for Montreal back with long [Music] as Cfield goes underneath Scott Lton and then when the puck get back to Mat Lton dives out to the middle of the ice to take away the one-time to Cole Cfield. percentage played cuz you’re going to trust your goalender is going to stop that wrist. I don’t think that was touched by anyone. Wasn’t really through any traffic. Was Dakota Murmurous in the way? Yes, he was. And that number trying to center it. Suzuki draws an assist. Her a long shot save loose puck in front and was sent flying to Montreal. McMahon works with shoot scores. Monto had no stick and butter McMahon scores for the second straight preseason game to restore Toronto’s two-goal lead. Montibo drops his stick which allows a wrist from a pretty innocent position to slide by him. David Camp standing right in front probably shove back in there. Don’t think there’s any goal interference overviews anyways. Roar tied up there by Quillin. Victory for Joshua. Centers up for left. Shoots and that’s knocked away. Still has time to serve. 41 seconds for his late first period. Flashing penalty. World champion with the check two years ago. Can’t play it back down to Joshua. Loose puck for McMahon. Mabo still down. Finally picks up the loose puck and hangs on to it. Lovski to Cfield. Mat Cfield. Oh, with a shot. He’ll be the save on that. Yay. Back to Dobson. Off to Messar. Demidov on Demidov. Takes the return pass. Takes in. Drops it back. They score. Ry from Demidov. That was sweet. And Montreal’s back within one. We might see that again. Using his feet, using his eyes, and he’s basically the entire time right now knowing he’s going through the seam. David Camp gets caught too high. Joshua is not in the passing lane. And right now when he gets it back, he knows he’s got him because Camp gets drifting up and that’s an easy pass through. Mesh shot draws the attention of Meyers in front and Light might score 100. He can give him those one. Here’s Machelli to Benning. Back to Matias. Machelli moving in. Shoots. It’s off the end of the stick of Montau up and out of play. Winds in, gets a step backand shot goes wide. He’s feeling it more tonight. He’s got the puck a lot. Matias Machelli. Takes the return pass and feeds it back to Murmur. A hard shot stopped by Monzimo. Feeds that back to Mermis. shoots. Mono makes the stop and hangs on. Here’s Cowan. Slides that back to Meyers. Back across to front. Final seconds of the power play front in the corner to Lton. Cers score. That might for Scott Lton. It deflected in. I don’t think it hit Cow. He didn’t celebrate like it did. They’re all looking at each other. Who’s taking it? You take it. No, you take it. Finds a strange bank. Lton walks out of the corner recognizing here’s a stick getting banged on the ice. And does that hit or then Lton or Lorent? I at first I thought it was Cowan but Oh, it hits the skate of Loren. Yeah. Yeah. Great. It’s offoric. It’s offoric. Off Loren and in the pass interrupted by Lion. Now Lorren has it back. Will be an unrestricted free agent at the end of the season. Cowen try to chip that back in front of Lorren. Looked back in front. They score as Loren again. That was on purpose. And it’s five to two. This line killing it on fire. Becoming more of a trio. Good job by C to keep it alive. And that is nice habits by Lorent. drives the back post. He’s got Demidov on him. A forward stops while Demidov bit of a fly by loses body position. Gets down by the goal line. Career leader in preseason dreams played. Play back at the line is Mermis. Back across the cowanberg center bouncing puck and a shot by Lton. I think I understand that dilemma. When I was playing for Montreal, I wanted number 12. Unfortunately, it’s been retired twice, right? Dicky Moore and Ivon Cornway. So, I said, well, clearly you let somebody use it after one of those guys. So, let one more guy use it. You don’t want your starter playing more than 65. I think it’s more like 55 at this point. But Lorent moves out. Hands on that shot. Teing scores. Whoa, that bing unloads from the point and it’s 6-2 Toronto. bringing the heat. Matt Benning and it’s this line again buzzing around the offensive zone. Ends up with Benning pounding one past Fowler. Tough to be that young in the NHL. Then two now runs the powerhouse London Knights program. Poked ahead by Twerberg. He’s knocked off stride. Twerberg in. Shoot. Scores. Stick with it. Twerberg snaps that by 72. [Music] I like the speed. This loose puck gets outside the blue line with a good help from Myers. And Jameson’s got the angle but not the legs. No trip call there. Stays with it. Goes under the stick of Plurman and a little wrist going against the grain under the arm of Fowler. That was really well done. A lot of stuff going on with Roar in the leg. Messar back with it. back around to Clman that off the outside of the post goes Delao line it back up. He had one of the two goals. Mountain had the other but it was Toronto pretty much from start to finish. A decisive 72 win the final shots 2513 in favor of the Maple Leafs. [Music] Heat. Heat. [Music]
Scott Laughton and Steven Lorentz scored two goals each as the Toronto Maple Leafs defeated the Montreal Canadiens 7-2.

4th line feasted tonight
Good to see someone actually go hard through the slot and get his legs taken out.
Props to Celli
На одном коньке сделали
Craig bringing some physicality and good puck moves and drives, this is just the beginning
Both these teams are Royalty in Canada.. but ooooffffff.. Le Hab's got spanked.
The team with all the young guys trying to make the club always seems to win cause they're giving it 110% while the team with the vets who know they're on the team are giving it 60-70% effort. Leafs lost the other night with all our vets playing. Just how preseason goes. Means nothing lol
GOD DOES MONTEBAULT SUCK THE BIG ONE….WHAT DOES MONTREAL SEE IN THIS GUY…..SERIOUSLY….
Liked the video to come back and chirp every person when the Habs win in the regular season
#44 for the habs is garbage
Laughton looked incredible tonight!
Putting an A on Lorentz and Laughton gave them superpowers
Honestly the leafs look so good without matthews tonight it's insane XD
Montemcrotte belle tite game de marde…
Toronto is ready for the Stanley cup finals 😂
Montembeault needs to get his act together and quick because that was downright embarrassing, what 4 in 10 shots?
Canada's Team 7
Montreal 2
i like a third line of Laughon, Lorentz and Cowan, lets do it Berube!
Plan the parade, Leaf fans!
I'm only here in hopes of seeing Demidov highlights
i could see that why Marner is not missed.
Keep that line. They’re a trio. Laughton and Lorentz are great leaders for this pre season. They’re definitely leading by example and giving the young guys energy. That line shined throughout this game. If that line doesn’t stay for the regular season then I will not watch another leafs game.
5:06 is pure poetry in motion, and I’m a flyers fan.
It’s gonna be a loooong season for the Habs
Mtl got a spanking tonigh 😮
Demi to Laine was something.
Go Leafs Go
Laughton became pre-season Jesus or something
We need to cut nhl in half. To make it more competive
720p? SMH It's 2025 don't ya know?
These guys looked better than the A linethe other night against Ottawa.
What happened to Dobson???
Toronto will will Stanley cup this year
Nice to see Hildeby!
Montembeault looked like Swayman last year 😅 bro had no help from defence
Toronto sucking the on penalty kill, Laine scoring on the PP, Leafs owning the Habs… New season but things remain the same. Great game for Laughton and his line. Let's see if they're for real, or if it was just a fluke.
MONTREAL DOES NOT HAVE A BETTER TEAM THAN LAST UEAR. THE NET NEEDS AN UPGRADE FOR SURE. THE TEAM WILL NEVER SUCCEED IF THEY KEEP USING THE SAME SYSTEM AS LAST YEAR.
Montreal ZERO
Canadiens are going to be terrible this year again 😀
Love to see bottom6 guys winning games
So good to hear this guy commentating!
ayo, monty is so bad tho.
Monty back to horrible form
Steve Dangle is creaming somewhere right now
Love it! pre-season game looking like playoffs
Filip Mešár – Give that boy a chance in the regular season, it's unbelievable how you won't give this talent even a single game but sink him in the lower leagues. Filip drz sa, pozdravujem z Popradu!! 🙂
Laughton and Lorentz are vying for their own Netflix series 💙
Никто не хочет выделить игру Демидова в большенстве ? Отличный центр первого звена в целом . Стоит расмотреть тренерскому персоналу на это
Habs fans seeing what Dobson really is now. No takebacks!
Those jackeyes really are scary…..
