Kyle Hamilton: ‘No Excuses Can Be Made at This Point’ | Baltimore Ravens

Kyle, you know, after a game where you allow two yards rushing and a couple of really long drives, kind of where do you feel this the state of the defense is right now? Uh, definitely not where we wanted to be. No excuses can be made at this point. Um, if it’s if it’s not one thing, it’s another. and we just got it’s kind of like we just got to patch everything up right now. Um can’t uh just take it take it for granted our run defense. Um it’s been pretty good the whole time I’ve been here. Um but when a team runs the ball like that, it just demoralizes you more than passing the ball. It’s they’re challenging you mentally, physically. So it’s it’s on us as a defense just to put that fire out ASAP and we didn’t do that. you’ve said challenges you physically and physicality is, you know, consistently a hallmark of the Ravens defense over generations. Um, you know, seemed like the Lions offense really had more physicality than your defense today. Um, you know, where do you kind of see as the areas where that can be improved in the week? Yeah, I mean, I wouldn’t say that. I mean, maybe a few plays here and there and not making excuses. I mean, those few plays win and lose the game. So, we got to be we got to do it 100% of the time, but um I don’t think it’s anything that we have to we’re not trying to reinvent the wheel. Um we just got to go play football. Um it’s probably not a good answer, but you know, it’s it’s running and it’s hitting and we got to run and hit better. Obviously you guys are without Nami and without Kyle Vanoi. You can’t exactly summarize how big a loss that is, but how tough was it without them on the field out there? Um I mean I have to watch the film, but I mean we’re blessed to have guys who can make plays, Pro Bowl, all pro guys all over the field. And um shame on us if we if we need a a Pro Bowl guy to play good defense. Um, I think we’re we have a plethora of guys who who have accolades, but there’s a teams in the league that don’t have that that play good defense. So, um, obviously, to your point, it hurts not having those two guys, but we have guys in the room, an ample amount of talent to make up for that um, at all three levels. So, um, I don’t think it’s as much a personnel thing as it is just a running hitting thing. From your vantage, why were their inside runs as effective as they were? I mean, you guys did a pretty good job on Gibbs on the outside, but why why were they so good gashing? Yeah. Um, again, I don’t know. I could have done a lot better on some of the receiver inserts and stuff like that. Um, you know, the ball those those runs hit downhill the fastest obviously hit running inside and when you run it outside, we’ve guys with speed that can run it down. But, um, like I said, we just got to be more physical at the point of the attack. Um, me included. Um me primarily I think uh I could have done a lot better doing that. So um again I don’t think the sky is falling but we got a big one next week on a short week. So it’s up to us to be professional to go out and get a win. Kyle, I think someone charted you guys with 20 missed tackles tonight. I mean how out of character is that for for you guys when you’re so locked in with the fundamentals usually? Yeah, that was that was really disheartening because that was one of the things coming to the game we wanted to um leave the game feeling good about um tackling and I can definitely say that we do not I mean I don’t speak for everybody when I say this but I do not feel like we tackle well um me included and um but I mean like I said it’s nothing that is I think the hard part is covered I think we have the people to do it the the quoteunquote easy part of just doing the right things the right way and it’s small things but they’ve become 60 yard runs and then 4 minute 30 yard touchdown runs and um you know I don’t even think there’s much to be said we just got to do better two more that’s it thank

  2. Out coached! Again! The Lions Defensesive changes in the 3rd and 4th quarter was the difference. As far as the Ravens Defense there has been problems ever since McDonald went ti Seattle.
    It is what it is. A less than AVERAGE Defense. This is NOTa championship caliber team!

  4. Ravens are only in the game because of Lamar Jackson. 7 sacs and a passer rating of 148 with 3 TDs. Without our all pro nose guard we line up 3-4 DL??? It almost looked 4:19 like sabotage. For 3/4 we never made the adjustment. Baffled!!!

  9. The Ravens came in completely unprepared for the Lions with absolutely no game plan. The Lions came in with a plan and executed that plan perfectly. This loss is on the coaching. Harbaugh and Orr both need to go.

  13. Run defense, pass defense both need work, and offensive line needs work. Idk if coaches and players need replaced but damn somethings needs to change. No depth either. They have nobody getting them fired up like Ray or Reed did. No leaders on that defense!

  18. I don’t see men, no cajones, no want or desire to just say no not today on any given day. Just no pride, getting completely manhandled at the line of scrimmage. Getting pushed back off the ball consistently with no signs of life. DC can’t call a game, players just look uninspired.

That was the worst defense I ever seen period in Baltimore last night nobody was doing anything sad couldn't stop the run or pass it was trash last night and it hurts to see Ro out there not controlling the defense man it's ugly they did whatever they wanted with the defense last night and it's not the standard we live by at all !! Somebody please tell Ro he has to stop the running back damn man ran everywhere and not one person step up to stop em ugh I'm pissed 🤬 cause I know they better than that but they keep playing like this somebody gotta go hell no that was embarrassing!!!

Roquan ain't even a factor no more foreal he out there getting pushed around and he the middle linebacker wow we are done without the players heart they playing like they are saving themselves for the second half of the season or something now we got KC and I don't think we really ready for nobody period MFS playing like trash and it's really pissing me off cause I know we better than that can't win games without defense and stops WTF Zach orr looking at all this preservation bs and put some packages together to get in that backfield WTF and Humphrey is hurt and playing hurt cause he was punished last night over and over look like they was picking him apart and enjoying it what you want me to lie hell no we as fans give our all support the truth about this team we just can't get the job done and I'm not mad about nothing just disappointed cause the way we playing now has me scared to death

  29. It's funny when we beat the crap out the Lions , no one was saying nothing. Lions not going to win the Super bowl. It's ugly and not perfect. Things are going to be different the rest of the season. So keep that same mentality. I'm a Ravens fan who trust the process. KC lose i dont hear all this drama.   33. The o-line is trash gave up 30 pressures and 7 sacks Faalele is the start of the problem on offense but defense is soft like Mike Tyson said everybody's got a plan until they get punched in the mouth they better start punching back.

Defense stinks under orr need a new head coach for sure and LAMAR is a inbarssment he sucks no super bowl waste of money and Derek Henry all those muscles and can't hold on to a football bench him and Lamar and let them know they can get replaced Lamar isn't hungry no more he gets paid either way I'm sick of these losses and spending money for tickets and the prices of everything is sky high to just watch them look like rookies Zac ORR is not Mike McDonald needs more pressure on the QB Sad my favorite team spend all this ridiculous money on these players and they don't perform like definitely need better QB Lamar got his money done he isn't chasing no Ring he's another Cleveland story pay the QB that money now football is done owners wake up stop giving this Guarantee money that is why Baltimore hasn't been back to the super bowl Lamar gets paid either way like Andrews dropped the 2 points in Buffalo gets big Payday with the loss too been a true fan my whole life just breaks my heart watching stupid mistakes stay in the pocket get sacked 7 times wow Lamar don't want MVP or super bowl he got his money Josh Allen and Detroit showed him he's finished up as. a QB Copper Rush could did better Bench these guys Henry cost the game Lamar don't run no more wastin my money at the stadium and crap going to stop they don't do overhauling on the system get rid of the head coach and defense coordinator.

  43. No offensive line. Lead to sax. No defensive line lead to no sex. No secondary allows runs and yardage. No tail end allow catches instead of interception. These teams are done with malo was speaking about going at the beginning of the season to other teams. They don't it to the rain.😢😢😢🤷🤷🤷 standing too far off of the opponent is allowing them to get receptions instead of interception, not leading the quarterback, as well on the opposing teams

  45. Harbaugh deserves all of the blame for wasting Lamar's career. We should have AT LEAST one superbowl by now, but we kept an OC that refused to scheme receivers open and didn't let Lamar audible (both things were openly admitted btw this isn't speculation) for far too long, kept Wink for too long and once we replaced him with an actual talent we let them leave 2 years later and don't find a legit replacement. Orr will be our DC for the next 3-5 years as long as Harbaugh is our HC. We need a change and we need it bad we have the same issues year in and year out. Harbaugh is also only 61-80 vs .500 or better teams. Laughably bad for a supposed "elite" coach.

  50. Kyle you not looking that good either, I’m starting to see you as just a big hitter with good range on the backend. You’re not making plays inThe run fit, your not good in man coverage. Great scheme safety.
