FULL INNING: Roki Sasaki DOMINATES in 1st appearance since May 9th (Reaches 100 mph!)| 佐々木朗希ハイライト

And for the first time since early May, Roki Sasaki pitches for the Dodgers. And for the first time out of the bullpen, James McCann leads off in a fast ball to the bottom of the knee. Strike one. Bottom line, if he can throw strikes with his stuff, he can have a roll. And Dave Roberts said there’s no reason to carry him as a mop-up guy. So, let’s go see what he looks like in a tight game in a leverage situation. Backhand play. Muny chucks it across the diamond to get McCann Sasaki with some help from his defense for the first down of the seventh. That’s a huge huge first out. I mean, first time you’re pitching out of the bullpen. First time since early May. What you need is no one on base at least to lead off this inning. Coming out of the bullpen, Maxy, who has had a great game at third base, makes a great play down the line. That allows Roki to take his first exhale. 98 during his rehab stint, his recent one working out of the pen. 99 right here for a strike on Tawa. Something he’s never really done though, working out of the bullpen like this. Still just 23 years of age. Sasaki is one-1 to Tawa. Swing and a miss. 98 pitch from the devil. What in the world was that? Says it’s a forcing, but that thing had to run. I mean, look at it. Goes in on the hands. like the pace, too. I mean, no time to think. I mean, literally just get the ball. Let’s go. I mentioned earlier Dave Roberts brought up the word conviction. He wanted to see that. So, the body language you’re referencing. That’s a box that Dave Roberts wanted to be able to check in this outing. Two-2 strike three on the inside corner. Two gone and Sasaki’s first inning. Goes back to that location. The fast ball. This time, Tawa did not want to swing at it. Clips that inside part of the plate. Roett does a great job, by the way, setting up the presentation on that pitch to get it for strike three. Elmaro Vargas 100 didn’t get the call. This the guy that broke Otani’s record for the fastest pitch on record in Japanese high school baseball. 101 as a high schooler. That’s when they started calling him kaibutsu. Japanese word for monster. Just the leg kick alone. I mean that coming at you then the velocity that front leg gets up be very intimidating especially knowing not just fast ball. We get excited about 100 miles an hour but that splitter that splitter when it’s going right is deadly. Here [Applause] he comes with a 2-1. Wow. That was the splitty. Two and two. I just look at Vargas’ swing. Hitters will tell you how good this stuff is. I look at it. Look at his reaction. Oh man. Get out on your front foot. These are 12 of the best pitches we’ve seen him throw in his very young Major League career. Here’s his 3-2. Wow. What do we have here? Wow. Roki Sasaki as advertised all along back from the miners out of the pen.

Roki Sasaki pitches an impressive inning in relief against the D-backs, striking out two batters and touching 100 mph in his return for the Dodgers.

  1. Ok this is encouraging.Only one player before Roki has thrown a 100 mph split.I think he K'd 13 batters in a row in Japan.Japanese players have ample discipline, are clean-cut, and seldom a problem to a team.IMO pitchers from Japan are the best in the world.Yamamoto is a master!!The Japanese pitchers can throw with velocity and their splits are filthy!I love the Dodgers!!Freeman has such a lovely line drive swing and is so clutch. The sweet sound of the ball coming off of Shohei's bat and the exit velocity of his home runs!I am not even sure if baseball is Mookie's best sport.Did he bowl 5 perfect games??Muncy is amazing!Go Dodgers!!
