  1. Really would’ve been nice if Detroit lost lol.

Pretty much have to sweep LA. Losing 2/3 to Oakland was not ideal but we got this

  2. I’m going to say one nice thing about the Mariners organization.

About 10 years ago my wife wanted to surprise me with tickets for my birthday. So she was so excited and shared the printout of the receipt. I looked it over and realized it was Astros v Mariners IN Seattle.

I was like “oh cool, a trip to Seattle?” She was confused, thinking for certain it was at MMP. After the realization she was like “oh no!” and these were pricy tickets back when we had very little money and we couldn’t go to Seattle to see the game.

So after a series of calls (she bought through stubhub but somehow the Mariners could do something to get it canceled) she gets in touch with the Mariners ticket office. She explains what happened and they were able to refund the tickets.

I hope the Mariners get swept and Raleigh embarrasses himself, but on a human level it was cool what they did and could have been assholes about it.

So that’s my one nice thing about the 2025 AL West winning organization.

  3. I know summer is over, Costanza, but if you could find some of that Summer of George magic again that would be great.

  4. Boston has been eliminated from both the division and the WC1

They clinch the playoffs with 1 win.

We either need Detroit to sweep or Boston to win 2 and we have to sweep.

We really wanted Cleveland to wind Yesterday.

We aren’t in a great spot, dropping 5 in a row really screwed us and now we genuinely might miss the playoffs.

I think the most likely scenario that ends with us making the playoffs is Boston winning today, losing tomorrow and then winning the finale.

Toronto and NY both have something to play for still, but they’re playing the Rays and Orioles so that doesn’t matter to us.

Not feeling great coming into this series, but still have hope.

We really wanted to take 2/3 against Oakland following the sweep against the Mariners.

  5. Yes we need other teams to lose, but there’s one thing and only one thing we need to do: win.

  6. I’ve really warmed up to the three-team Wild Card format. It has incentived otherwise middling teams too stay competitive at the trade deadline, the bye gives division winners something to play for in the final week of the season, and I guess now it gives Astros fans a glimmer of playoff hope (though is that really a good thing?).

I do miss the game 163 playoffs. Totally get why they ditched it: mathematical tiebreakers give more importance to individual regular season series and a four-way tie between the Guards, BoSox, ‘Stros, and Tigers would be a logistical nightmare to resolve and would require pushing back the entire postseason by at least half a week. But it’s still annoying that you practically need a pen and pad to work out your team’s playoff chances in the final series of the season
