SHOCKING Miami Heat Rumors: Andrew Wiggins Lakers Trade NEVER Happening Because Of LeBron James?
[Music] This is the Heat Report by Chat Sports. I am Nick Rolloff. We have talked a lot about a potential Andrew Wiggins Lakers trade this off season. Well, there is a report out there that says that is not even close to being a possibility and the Heat won’t even consider trading Andrew Wiggins to the Lakers. What do I mean by this? Well, apparently an anonymous executive told a Lakers publication that he would be stunned if Pat Riley did a Wiggins Lakers trade. You really think Pat wants to help out LeBron James? He’s still mad about LeBron leaving Miami. I don’t see it happening. I have a lot of thoughts on this quote, but before we get there, my boss has asked me to get the highest amount of likes this week, more than we did last week. The most likes we got a video last week was 174. Help me out with that thumbs up icon and let’s get to 200. But I don’t believe this to be true whatsoever. Like maybe I’m naive, but do I really believe that Andrew Wiggins is a player that would not be traded to the Lakers to help out LeBron? No, I do not. If you said it was BAM in a bio, okay, maybe I would believe that a little bit. But I also don’t buy into the thought process that Pat Riley is so so stubborn that he wouldn’t make a trade with the Lakers that might benefit Los Angeles because LeBron’s still on the roster. Like I certainly hope that my GM isn’t that petty. I mean, that would just be ridiculous. And if that is the case, then he should be removed from his position immediately, which is something that should happen anyway if we’re going to be honest. And more on the Andrew Wiggins, like do the Heat trade Andrew Wiggins before the season? No. But do I think that they ultimately could trade him before the deadline? Yes, I still do. Will it be to the Lakers? I don’t know. Maybe, maybe not. But there is a world where Wiggins does get traded before the trade deadline in early February. But I just think the story is way overblown between LeBron and Pat Riley. Like sure, there was probably some bad blood in the first five, six years after LeBron left Miami because Riley didn’t like the way it was handled potentially, but it feels as if over the last three, four years, at least in the public eye, it has been made up a little bit. And if it’s not made up, well, then I still don’t believe it would hinder a potential Lakers Heat trade. Like, I just don’t see that being something that could really hold this up. But as I mentioned, I do think a trade could happen at the deadline before February. I think it makes a lot of sense for Miami to potentially explore this avenue. And I’ll explain more on the matter here in a second, but I want you to predict it for me. Will the Heat trade Andrew Wiggins this year before the deadline in February? Y for yes, type N for no. It’s today’s pin comment. I don’t know if they do. I don’t know if they don’t. I’m here to tell you that it’s probably a smart thing that they try to find a trade partner. Now, this is not me saying that he should go out and try to sell Andrew Wiggins, put him on the trade block, and take less than what he is worth. It is me saying that if the right offer comes along, you should take it. And I wouldn’t say put him on the trade block, but let it be known across the league that if a team offers the right package for Wiggins, we would be willing to play ball. Why do I say that? Well, Wiggins has two years left on his deal, one of them guaranteed this year, and then a player option for next season. But if you were to trade Andrew Wiggins for expiring contracts, you would then be able to free up damn near 80 hundred million dollars in expiring money to provide you with the ultimate financial flexibility next off season to take in more money via trades or go out and sign some key free agents. But the reason why I believe this is that Miami should try to pump up the value of their top two veterans, Andrew Wiggins and Norman Powell, before the trade deadline in February and flip them. And they have a golden opportunity to do so with Tyler Herro out for the first month of the year. Run the offense through Powell, run the offense through Wiggins. Hopefully they respond in a positive way. They have career highs in terms of scoring and production. and then you can convince a team that hey you can get this ultra productive impactful player right now for one first round pick. The reason why I say that is because Norman Powell and Andrew Wiggins are not a part of the future plans of the Miami Heat. The Heat’s future is very interesting. It is very dependent on Nicole Yoic, KL Wear, Casper Yakonis developing into players that can be borderline allstars if not better. They have two borderline all-stars in Hero and Bam, but they need a third. They need a maybe fourth out there. And Powell and Wiggins, they’re 30 years old plus. Powell’s 32. Wiggins is around that age. Like, they’re not going to be here five years from now. But the other young guys you mentioned, yes. So, you should be doing everything in your power to stockpile future assets, whether it’s draft picks or young players to help kind of build up this young core and have the draft capital and pieces required to make a blockbuster trade if an allNBA superstar guy comes available like an Anthony Edwards, like a Giannis Antin Kmpo. Will they? I don’t know. But that’s what Miami should be doing. pumping up the value on the veterans and dealing them to create cap flexibility but also attain future capital and assets. And if the Heat do make a move at the deadline or before the season, we will have you covered. So subscribe today and join the channel right now if you want top-notch Miami Heat coverage. Now, I also wanted to bring it back to the LeBron James stuff here because I find this absolutely hysterical. people are going to be like, “Oh, they hate each other. They would never want to benefit each other.” When LeBron has spoken very highly about Pat Riley and the Heat organization and Eric Spolstra over the past three or four years, like I said, this story is way overblown. It’s so overblown to where a anonymous coach executive scout ran a media poll on ESPN and they asked where does LeBron James play in 2627 with the Lakers a different team or not playing at all. Well, one person predicted and voted on him being a member of the Heat to start the next season. Will that happen? No. LeBron James will not be on the Heat to start the 2627 season. he will likely be retired. But it just goes and furthers my point that the quote unquote negative bad blood relationship between LeBron and Pat Riley at this point in their lives is way overblown. A decade ago, sure. Right now, absolutely not. And if the Heat and Lakers wanted to get a trade done and the Lakers met the Heat’s asking price of expiring contracts connect a first round pick, well then we would probably have a trade done. But Pat Riley isn’t gonna throw up the X on a Wiggins Lakers trade because he thinks it would help LeBron James win a championship. Let’s get real here, folks. The Heat formally announced, this was widely expected, but they formally announced on Tuesday, that the Heat training camp will begin Tuesday, September 30th, and run through Friday, October 3rd. They also mention that the Heats media day will be that Monday, the 29th, at the Casayiah Center. We will have you covered, which is why you subscribe to the channel as well. But I wanted to briefly mention four storylines to watch during media day as well as next week during heat training camp. They’ll have training camp and then they’ll go right into the preseason as October gets underway and then well when we’re here in October, we got real regular season games. How about that? We’re less than a month away from Heat Magic season opener. But the story line to watch at training camp is what is the opening starting lineup for the Miami Heat? I mean, that’s clearly the number one, right? With Tyler Hero out, where is Eric Spolster going to go? And we usually do see Spoes inter squad have the starting lineup go against the twos. I think the starting lineup against Orlando week or week one, I’m talking NFL night one should be DaVon Powell, Wiggins, Bam, and Yovic. I think it’s better off if you have We come off the bench. It creates better um balanced lineup between Adabio and Wear and how you can space those guys out as big men. But you also get shooting uh spacing and playmaking with Yoic in the starting lineup which is desperately needed with Tyler Herro out for the first month of the season. Another story line to watch and this is where we really get into the media day on Monday rather than training camp which is where we’ll find out this these three things are more or less media day but I’m sure a reporter will ask Kal where he is weighing it. I mean, one of the biggest things that we’ve asked Kell where to improve on this off seasonason is to throw on weight muscle-wise because he oftent times just got bullied a little bit inside the paint. If he adds more weight, becomes more physical like we’ve seen Noola Yovic do over the course of his young career, he might be more of a dominating presence in the low post. But speaking of Yovic, extension talks, he’s extension eligible. The Heat, I think, should extend him before the year begins at three years, $45 million. I’m sure someone will ask either Eric Spolstrom or Nicole Yovic if there has been extension talks with Yovic. I hope that that question gets asked. I hope that they answer truthfully because I would love to know if there has been talks or they’re just going to table it to see how the season progresses and then maybe address it next off season when Yoic is a restricted free agent. And I would love to hear what Yakonis has to say. The Heat’s 20th overall pick. We saw him speak to the media after he was selected in the NBA draft. We briefly got to talk to him and hear from him during summer league, but now we’ll get to see him in full force, ask him how his off season has been, how he’s adjusting to the Miami lifestyle, and we’ll see what Eric Spolstro has to say about the 19-year-old rookie from Illinois as well. That’ll do it for today’s show. If you want more heat content, hit that thumbs up icon. And I want to continue to show my bosses that we deserve more and more time to make videos and go live on the channel. So, let’s get 200 likes and I’ll see you tomorrow with another video. Go Heat.
