The Atheltic’s prediction for the Duck’s season. Agree?

  1. think they are pretty spot on with their take on the ducks.

will be close but i don’t think we will get into the playoffs this season.

Would love to be wrong however 😀

  2. Being on nobody’s radar is where the Ducks wanna be. With that said, this is probably a most grounded take. Hope and excitement do not equal results- and the results we need would mean we’d need to far surpass the trajectory of last year’s squad, which is a lot to ask for. Still excited and optimistic though!

  3. 81 points means that all of our improvements are good for a single point improvement over last year. If that’s the case, you need to start considering moving on from Verbeek.

In reality, I think we end up in the 90 range, and I’d put making the playoffs around 40-50%.

  4. Seems plausible but hopefully the Ducks can surprise, there’s always a few teams that the pundits get wrong.

  5. When you have been consistently bad like the Ducks have since ‘17-‘18, people are going to need to see you prove you can be good again before they believe you will get out of it. All I know is this needs to be a big step forward season (90+ point minimum) for the Ducks if Verbeek and the rest of this front office wants to keep their jobs. It’s been 7 straight seasons of accomplishing literally nothing on the ice (which is a long time in this sport, there have only been 19 playoff droughts that long or longer in the entire history of the league). If that continues for an 8th consecutive season, then that should be a huge warning sign that this “rebuild” has been a major failure that needs serious adjustments. Now personally, I would give us around a 40% chance of reaching the 90 point mark (and about a 35% chance at making the playoffs), whereas this chart is only giving us a 29-30% chance.

  6. I think higher. I’d take the over 39.5 wins… 40 wins puts us at 80 pts, plus OTL would put us between 85-90 pts most likely. I’d bet on that range, 85-90…
