just about ready to roll. And on the hill today, Luis Heel and Singi. It’s unique these days, but he’s more of a pitch to contact type of guy. Yeah, Boogie. He doesn’t rely too heavily on the strike out. He knows he needs to miss barrels, get some soft contact, let the defense do work behind him. And I think a guy like that can keep a good tempo, don’t give hitters time to adjust or think, they can move through a ball game. And you look up, they’re in line for a quality start. We’ll see what he’s gotten this one. And that misses. And now two and 0. And another ball. [Applause] fouls one away and now three and two. Cuts on it and misses. That’s a strike out. Some high cheese for strike three. That kind of velocity, an elevated fast, even if it’s still in the strike zone, can be tough for hitters to get on top of. Jordan Westbird the next to hit for the Orioles. Hit in the air center field. Gisham settles under it. Hauls it in for the out. And there’s two away. Take a look at the lineup. And one of the most exciting young stars in the sport, Colton Cowser. Well, Boo, there aren’t many guys who have a flare for the big moment like he does. I mean, batting over 400 with runners in scoring position. Are you kidding me? I I know it’s not guaranteed or an automatic, but I hope we get to see him in a close late game situation with runners in scoring position and just see is he truly a machine or not. Gunner Henderson in the box with two gone and takes a look at a called strike. Two outs. Base is empty. Swing and a miss as he was late that time. Well, you got to find a way to catch up to that pitch. Perhaps shorten the swing, eliminate the stride. That one came in hot. But right down the middle, you’re saying to yourself, “How did I miss that pitch?” Got to make a quick adjustment. And that one is inside. Cut on and miss. Struck him out. And good work there as he gets a one, two, three. Nothing doing this time around for the O’s. And now the Bombers will get their shot. No score. Back after this on the show. Back at Yankee Stadium, our starting pitcher in this one, Dean Kramer. What do we have on him? Well, that whip is just below the league average, and that’s a good thing in this case, not allowing too many base runners. So, on most days, he’s going to go out there and compete and put his team in a position to win. And I expect to see that from him in this one today. Bottom of the first leading off Trent Gisham singing when the year’s over he’ll have a new careerh high for RBI’s in a season. Kramer in his fourth year. He features a fourseam fast, a cutter, a splitter, a sinker, and he occasionally uses a curve. delivers a pitch in for a strike at 95. That’s a little bit low. [Applause] Hard hit left side. Henderson over to first in time. One up, one down. And time now to check out the New York Yankees lineup. This is an absolute powerhouse offense, Chris. And they piled up more runs than any other team in the league. Boo. Fans absolutely love to see this kind of lineup every day. I mean, come to the ballpark, turn it on TV. Uh you know that it’s going to be exciting. They score runs by the bunches, really put themselves in a good position to win games because of it. And you know what? It’s going to be really important for pitchers facing them to hit their spots. Better command your pitches because if you don’t, it’s going to be a long game. Aaron Judge in the box now. No balls in a strike. One out. Base is empty. Judge rips that one. That’s back there. Gone. Straight into the visitor’s bullpen. That’ll fire up the dugout. Home run number 50 on the year. And the Yankees have the lead. It’s one- nothing. [Applause] So many times a sinker inside is a foul ball off the ankle for the batter, but that time he did a really nice job of staying inside the pitch and getting through it. And up to the plate comes Cody Bellinger. And that’s through there for a strike. 0 and one. part of the order coming through now and with one home run already in this inning, they’re definitely looking to do some more damage. So, Cody Bellinger went as a fourthround pick by the Dodgers in the 2013 draft. How about this though? His final year in high school, he hit just one home run. One down, base is empty. Ball one there. One ball, two and now two and two. Swing and a miss. Struck him out and two away now. Well, that’s the effect of the splitter that you’re looking for on the mound. Really nice pitch right there and had him out in front over the top. I’m sure the batter was thinking he was getting something else. Perhaps a fast ball with a little more straight and vo to it. Ben Rice the next to hit takes ball one. [Applause] Sharp grounder that’s through for a base hit. Batting good. The left fielder at first, John Carlos Stan stepping in now for the Yankees. Not getting the results he’s wanted at the plate recently under the Mendoza line so far this month. Rice leads off first with two down to the inning. Next offering is in for a strike. [Applause] That one’s sizzling on its way through to the outfield and out to a board. Batting f the second baseman, Jazz Jazz Chisum Jr. Now the other way and that will end the inning. Yankees draw first blood on a solo shot. It’s now a one- nothing ball game. You’re watching Major League Baseball on the show. Second inning, set to go and into the box for Baltimore. Tyler O’Neal. O’Neal. Heel back to work. Swinging a foul straight back and a foul ball. His eyes got big. He saw that change up way out in front. Better to pull it than to get jammed on something off speed like that. Blows the high heat past him. That’s a strike out. Got him. And stepping in the rookie left fielder Dylan Beavers. First offering and it just misses. had a breaking ball misses outside. Making the calls behind the plate in this one is Woody Keller. Yeah, and Woody does a pretty good job back there, Boo. He’s got a pretty fair strike zone most of the time. Maybe some inconsistency here or there, but usually he’s back there doing a solid job. just missed. Next offering in there for a strike and it’s three and one. Dangerous spot for that slider right there. Didn’t seem to quite finish out front and get that sharp break. Tell you what, he doesn’t want to throw that pitch again. [Applause] ripped to third and caught. It’s never fun going back to the dugout after hitting the line drive that finds a glove. But you will get some high fives. You know, when you make great contact, you feel like you’ve done everything right. But in this game of baseball, not everything is in your control. Adley Rutman stands in now and watches strike one that misses the zone and the count even one and one. One way to make a guy real uncomfortable at the plate is pound him inside with good velocity. They’re doing that right here. Gets a piece and stays alive. That wasn’t an easy pitch to hit. It’s much easier to do damage against mistakes, but that’s not what that pitch was. He goes down looking. One, two, three go the Orioles. They trail here one- nothing here at New Yankee Stadium in the Bronx. Here’s Ryan McMahon McMahon. That one fouled off. [Music] Oh, can’t pick it up cleanly. Still able to fire over. Save. It was never going to be easy after the misplay. Pretty much gifted the lead off base runner right there. As an offense, this is where you really want to take advantage. applies some pressure this inning. Make that error hurt. And next for New York, Anthony Vulpi. Good defender. He’s been inconsistent offensively. McMahon gets his lead at first with nobody out. late with the swing there. Kelly just threw that fast ball by him, elevated. And if you’re not looking up in that location, very difficult to catch up to, especially with that velocity. This one in the air center field. Cowser under it, pulls it in, and there’s one away. Batting Knight, the catcher, Austin. Well, and stepping in for the Yankees, Austin Wells. Chris, he’s definitely going to finish the year with a new careerhigh in homers. We just don’t know how many he’s going to hit quite yet. That’s towards center. Cowser has this one sized up. They got it for out number two. Now it’s Trent Gish to the plate. Grounded out. His first time up. Gisha. Check. Swing. Went around. Strike one. No balls. One strike. [Applause] gets him to chase after that one. Didn’t recognize off speed. Thought it was fast ball. A little bit out in front. Up and in. Going to count one and two. Now bullet to second base, but he’s got it to end the inning. So, no runs, no hits, and one error, but they leave him stranded. We head on down to the top of the third. Yankees won and the Orioles nothing. All set for the start of the inning. Now, the Orioles catcher Samuel Basalo. follow. That one is hammered right field back there. Makes the catch up against the wall. Man, Boo, I love watching an outfielder take on the wall to make that play. And it’s a lot easier to watch from up here because that can be painful in the end. You know, the wall’s coming up on you quickly. So you have to maintain concentration in able to make that catch and hold on to it after contact. Colton Cowser at the plate now. That’s ball one. Misses just off the outside edge. I think that was a strike. Next offering is in for a strike. That’s good pitch there. Really had some run and finished little up and end just on the edge. And that’s one of those if you swing at it, he had a broken bat as you jog back to the dugout. And he hits a ground ball right side and that’s just foul. One down, base is empty. swing and a miss and he’s down on strikes. He picks up his fifth strike out on the hill. Get him out in front, which isn’t easy to do against a hitter like this. Known for using the entire field. Just couldn’t sit back long enough on that one. Next for the Orioles, Kobe Mayo. Seems like he’s making contact with everything lately. Batting over 300 so far this month. Vulpi fires over to first and that is the inning. Three up, three down for the Orioles. They still trail one- nothing. As we go to the last of the third, here’s a big power throw, Aaron Judge. He’s a guy who does it all. with the lack of contact in today’s game. This guy hits for contact, so he delivers average, but there’s on base and slugging, too. And that one clips the corner early in the count. You have to be real careful because of that power. But then if this hitter gets a strike or two on him, he’s still very comfortable because he has the ability to get the barrel to the baseball. He’s a threat deep into the count as well. That’s a base hit. So, a runner aboard to start the inning. Well, that’ll make you feel good as a hitter right there. Anytime you rip a line drive the other way, you feel really good about what you did at the plate. You trusted your hands. You let the ball travel and you took the barrel straight to it. That’s great work right there. Here comes Cody Bellinger. Struck out swinging his first time. Right through there for a strike. No ball. One strike. Judge gets his lead at first. Nobody out. Yankees. Way out front for strike two. Two strikes to a guy who’s already 0 for one with the punch out. The only guy in the lineup with that strike out. But you can’t get too relaxed. You still got to make good pitches to get him out. BS that off to the left and we’ll do it again. [Music] Yankees. Foul ball. It stays nothing and two. Fouled off and they’ll do it again. Nobody out. Runner at first. [Music] And Belly goes down on strikes. That’s tough. You see it well. I mean, that was clearly up and out of the strike zone, but that’s one of the hardest things. And when you see a pitch out of the hand at eye level, that discipline to remember, I can’t hit that pitch. If I can see it really well at eye level, I can’t catch up to that pitch when a pitcher’s got this kind of velocity. And now Ben Rice just off the inside edge. Well struck right field onto the track and he makes the catch. [Applause] And now it’s John Carlos stand for the Yankees one for one with a single so far. John Carlo Stensson in there at the knees. Top of the zone for a strike and the count is 0 and two. Perhaps not quite ready to hit. First two pitches by him for a couple of strikes. Now back is against the wall. is going to have to figure something out and figure it out quickly. That’s outside. One and two to count. Swings and misses at the breaking ball in the dirt. Catcher has it. Fires to first and it’s in time for the third out. So that’ll end the inning. The Yanks leave one. They lead it one- nothing. Back in the Bronx as we go to the top of the fourth. Here’s the Orioles leadoff hitter, Jackson Holiday. Fast for a strike. You know, these Orioles, as this game goes on, have to be more disciplined at the plate. So many of their outs have come from weak contact on pitches. They’re chasing outside of the strike zone. You can’t do much of anything with those locations. And that’s been true again today. That one’s upstairs. Ball one. And as a pitcher, when the hitters are swinging at everything, you feel no need to challenge inside the zone. You just keep working the corners and expanding that strike zone and beyond, and they just keep eating right out of your hand. Stanton makes the grab. One up, one down. Now batting third baseman Jordan. Now at the plate Jordan Westber 0 for one with a fly out to center. That’s inside. Ball one. Oh, he never moved cuz he never had time to. With that kind of velocity, you’d prefer that pitcher work away. Just missed. Next pitch is inside. Three and 0. [Applause] Next offering is fouled back. Sit it down. Hammers that one deep left field and forget it. his 16th homer of the year and it ties it up. It’s 1-1. He ran the count full and saved his best swing for last. That was a battle and he won. High velocity up and in is just such a difficult location for the hitter, but this time he pulls the hands tight to the body, gets through this pitch. What conviction in that swing? Awesome job at the plate. So, it’s all tied up thanks to the home run. So, next a hit for Baltimore, Gunnar Henderson. And a first pitch fast ball is in for a strike. [Applause] Swang and a ball lifted in the air. Stanton makes the catch and there’s two away. It’s a good recovery though after giving up the home run, not allowing it to stay in the head but going to work at the next hitter. And a tough one at that. Here’s Tyler O’Neal. Struck out swinging his first time. [Applause] Ground ball left side and that’s a foul ball. The next offering misses and the count is one and one. [Applause] Top of the zone and it’s called a strike. Two down, base is empty, but one run across. Top half of inning number four. Runs it up to 96 to record the punch out. But we’re all tied up thanks to this solo homer. All even at one a piece. It’s Major League Baseball on the show. Back now in the Bronx, John and Chris Singleton with you. And leading off the bottom of the fourth, Jazz Chisum Jr. Come on. Go back to Baltimore. That one’s in there. Strike one. Chisum goes 5′ 11 in. 27 years old. And they went out and made a trade for him last season. Next pitch is outside. One ball, one strike. [Applause] And that skips in the dirt. [Applause] Foul ball. Another 2-2 upcoming. Battling here as he fouls it away. [Applause] gets a piece there. We’ll do it again. [Applause] And that’s downstairs and outside. [Music] Foul ball and it remains a full count. Let’s go Yankees. Good job to fight that one off. Well, he hasn’t gotten the result yet, but got to feel pretty confident. Three foul balls in a row. He’s right on this guy. Stays alive. Yankees on the ground to the left over to first. He didn’t make things easy for him there, but they still get the out. The third baseman, Ryan McMahon. Ryan McMahon steps to the plate. He’s 0 for one. Edge of the zone for a strike. 0 and one. That one missed. [Applause] The one-1 is fouled off. So glad these ballparks have installed the netting to protect the fans, keep things safer all around the league. Close one. Doesn’t get the call. Two and two. That pitch was pretty borderline at the top of the zone and he’s not digging the call out there on the mound. Clearly pretty frustrated. So he’s going to have to collect himself a little and it finds its way through for a hit. So a man aboard now with one away. The batter number 11 shortstop Anthony. So digging in Anthony Vulpi fly to center his first time. He’s 0 for one and downstairs. [Applause] And the righty deals fast for a strike. [Applause] Next offering is fouled back in the dirt. blocked. [Music] 2-2 now in the dirt. Swing and a ball rift out towards right center field. That’ll touch down for a hit. They’re waving McMahon home. The relay to the plate. Not in time. He scores. It’s 2-1. Well, a swing like that can help you come out of the struggle. We saw the numbers coming into the ball game, but all he’s trying to do at this point is help his team win. One out, runner at second. Austin Wells will hit next. Fly to center his first time. There’s the strike. [Applause] [Applause] in the dirt. Activity in the bullpen. Cade Povich, the left-hander, up and throwing. Wells, the right-hander, also getting loose. [Music] [Applause] This one in the dirt. [Music] [Applause] First pitch strike from the pitcher, but then no panic at all by the hitter. Very patient, showing good discipline. Now he’s in the driver’s seat with a 3-1 count and ball four to a board. You know, Boo, it’s been said these guys are savages in the box. You can see it right there with such tight plate discipline. Back to the top of the Yankee order. Here’s the center fielder, Trent Gisham. Go for two in this one. in there at the knees and it’s 0 and one. [Music] Check swing called strut. Runners at first and second with one gone. That one down the line and foul ball. [Music] [Applause] Fights it off. He’ll see another. [Applause] Can’t connect on the curve ball. Struck him out. Well, he really filled up the strike zone in that at bat until that final pitch. And as a hitter, you sense that they’re coming after you. You’re not dancing around the strike zone. They want to attack and so you kind of get into swing mode and you have to protect the plate. That’s when you become really susceptible to something that makes you chase. And that’s exactly what happened right there. Here comes Aaron Judge. He’s already homerred in this game. upstairs. [Applause] Vulpi at second. Wells on a first with two now. [Applause] Drilled out towards left center field. That’s back there and out of here. Another homer. his 51st home run of the year. It’s 51. That one just sounded different. Yeah, it might have been the loudest moment yet. Man, my ears are ringing. I can feel that swing from the booth. There he got a splitter that he was able to handle. Allowed that pitch to travel a little bit deeper. And when it was time to commit, his hands exploded through the zone. Now the Orioles manager is out of the dugout and he’ll make a move to the pen. Dean Kramer gives way and this is one he’d like to forget. Back with a new arm after this [Applause] now pitching for the So a new arm out of the bullpen for the Orioles toyuki Sigato. He’s averaging more than one hit allowed per inning pitch this season. And that’s not where you want to be at all. So we’ll see how he does here. So two away with nobody on. Now up is the Yankees DH Cody Bellinger and immediately pumps in a strike to the left-handed hitter. [Applause] Two outs. Pitch misses. One and one. And there’s a ball. Really close pitch down around the knees there. And you could see him asking where it missed. Probably doesn’t agree, but it appears he’s ready to move on to the next pitch. Four runs already in the frame. We’re here in the bottom of the fourth. on the ground right side and it goes just fouled. Got him looking. Ends the inning after they racked up a bunch of runs. Another look at the long ball for the Yankees. It’s now a 51 ball game. You’re watching Major League Baseball exclusively on the show. Back in New York, we go to the top of the fifth. Here’s the left fielder, Dylan Beavers. Heel back to work upstairs. Ball one. You know, these Orioles just aren’t putting together very many good at bats in this one. Just one base runner to this point, and it’s not exactly early anymore. They’ve got players in this lineup capable of sparking something, but it just hasn’t happened for them yet. on the ground to Jazz. Jazz tosses the first one away here in the fifth. Now batting designated hitter Adley. Here’s Adley Rushman struck out looking his first time. That’s a strike. All right. So, Monument Park out there in center field at Yankee Stadium. Have you gotten a chance to check that out? Boo. I have seen it more after my playing career than I did as a player, but as a broadcaster many times entering and exiting through the center field fence, particularly in the playoffs, get a chance to take a glimpse over and I got to say you do get some goosebumps. Swing and a miss. And he got him. Picks up strikeout number seven. Well, he’s showing some pretty dominating stuff out there in this one. Not just in terms of swing and miss, but also in terms of command. You know, all the strikeouts, they kind of speak for themselves. But when you don’t walk anyone, you’re demonstrating that you have the confidence in your abilities to truly go right after opposing batters. Basalo in the box with two gone and takes a look at a called strike. He’s controlling things out there on the mound. Not messing around at all. He’s been in attack mode since the very start. Late on that fast ball. Just not able to catch up to that velocity and a ball evens the count. Really good take especially with two strikes. Here’s a high-fly ball out to center. Gisham settles under it and makes the grab and that is that. We head to the bottom of the fifth. The batter now. Let’s go Yankees. Just missed. You know, these Yankees putting together some really good at bats in this game. There’s been a lot to like with how they’re approaching their chances at the plate. It looked to me like they really wanted to get to the starter early, get him out of the game before he settles in. So, I’d say mission accomplished. And here is John Carlo State leftielder one for two. [Applause] Oh, he doesn’t get the call. And it’s one and0. Out to short. Get there. Get there. Tosses across to first and they take care of Stanton for the out. The batter number 13, second baseman, Jazz. Two down, base is empty. Now it’s the second baseman, Jazz Chisum Jr. He was late there. Strike one. Two down. Nobody on and a foul ball. He stays alive. Knocks that one away and will do it again. He needs to throw that breaking ball with just a little more conviction to get the swing and miss. And down on strikes and it’s a three up, three down inning. So the Yanks go in order. They leave this one though 5-1. And welcome back to the ballpark. Top six and into the box for Baltimore Cowser. That’s down and in. A slider missed. [Music] [Applause] liner and that should be extra bases around first and hustling for second. He makes it safely with a leadoff double in the sixth. Everything came together perfectly for him right there. That was a thing of beauty. He may have been a little behind the pitch, but by getting that barrel into the hitting zone early on in his swing, he was able to meet it and still shoot a line drive down the line and left. Could be a chance here for them to start clawing back into this ball game. Runner in scoring position, no outs. Kobe Mayo the next to hit. And a good fast ball to start him off. That’s strike one. One strike. [Music] Get out of here. Man at second. And that one fouled off. Ow. And two now. Spoils a two- strike pitch. And he’ll see another [Applause] swing and a miss. Struck him out. Strike out number eight. Came inside with that two- strike fast ball nicely and just bunched him up on the inside part of the plate. Couldn’t get around on it and catch it out front. Many times if you do, it’s a foul ball. And you know, a lot of pitchers, they really don’t like working inside with two strikes because they do not want to hit that batter. And when they’ve got him up against the ropes, got to figure out a way to put him away. Did a nice job right there. Holiday batting with one down. Takes a strike. Cowser, the runner at second with one away. It’s a tough pitch, but in terms of the best pitch you’re going to get to hit in the at bat at in the air right field and that’ll fall for a base hit. Coming home, fires it to the plate. It’s off the mark and he scores. It’s 52. Still able to come through behind in the count right there. Got a change up and a pretty good one too. Outside corner, but he just got extended and put the barrel on it. Shody has a lot of plate coverage on that swing right there. Now the number two hitter, Jordan Westber. That one in there across the letters. Well, he’s been incredibly efficient in this one. First pitch strike percentage over 70%. That’s well above league average and that’s what’s allowed him to pitch well up until this point [Applause] in the dirt but kept close. Activity in the bullpen for the Yankees. Tim Hill getting loose out there for Aaron Boone. Cruz also throwing [Applause] fouled off. He was late. I wouldn’t throw him another breaking ball. Try to go again with a fast ball. Slightly elevated. He just having a hard time catching up. That one missed. That’s a strike out. Woody Keller says he won a round. Now battle. And now the short stop. Gunner Henderson. Henderson. So clutch. You could argue that he’s been this team’s MVP this year. That one pushed to the left and fouled. Two outs. That one to first and that’s foul. And they’ll do it again. Yankees up by three. Sharp grounder. That’s through for a base hit. Throw in holds the lead runner at second. Two on now with two away. Back against the wall with two strikes, but found a way. Not much to this one other than just a willingness to go the other way and put the ball in play. That’s a team at bat right there. Nice job of staying back and letting the ball get deep. First and second, two outs. And next will be the cleanup hitter, Tyler. Swing. And this one’s blasted. It’s got a chance. Makes the catch on the edge of the track, but the RBI single. Pushes across a run. It’s now 52. Major League Baseball is on the show. Back in the Bronx, bottom of the six. And stepping in for the Yankees, Ryan McMahon. McMahon. And first offering is fouled off. [Music] That split is a pretty nasty pitch. Explodes out of the hand. Looks like a fast ball and the bottom just falls out of it. This ball’s chopped on the ground. Holiday tosses to first and that’s one out as they get the lead off. Number 11, shortstop Anthony Vulpi. So up next, Anthony Vulpi in there at the knees. And that’s strike one. [Music] Next offering is fouled back. and down on strikes he goes. That K is his third of the game. A little bit of a questionable call on that fast ball right there. It appeared to miss off the outside just a little bit according to the electronic strike zone, but that’s the type of location where you kind of have to understand that it’s close enough to where you don’t want to put the fate of your bat in the hands of the umpire. He did and he got burned. Two outs, space is empty. Here’s the Yankees catcher now, Austin Wells. And that’s in for a strike. 0 and one. outside. Hit in the air right field. That one way back there. And that is way gone. his 22nd homer of the year. And they add a run. It’s 6-2. Already playing with the lead. And now they’re celebrating a home run. They’re having a great time out there. Anytime you have a pitch down the middle of the plate, the percentages go up for the hitter to do damage. Even if it’s a pretty good sinker like that one. Nice piece of hitting there at the plate. So, the batting order turns over. Here’s the Yankees leadoff hitter, Trent Gisham. Breaking ball in there for a strike. Two down, nobody on here in the bottom of the sixth. [Applause] Pitch in the dirt and now it’s even. One and one. [Applause] And there’s a ball. He swings and fouls one off. Worm burner into the outfield for a knock. So a two out knock keeps the inning alive. The right fielder number 99. Now, big number 99, Aaron Judge. And the way he’s going in this one, we’ve been waiting for his spot to come around again. All right, listen everyone. Stop what you’re doing right now. This guy’s got two home runs already. Now he’s going for number three. Just missed. When the skipper calls down to the bullpen, he’s expecting the guy to come in and get outs. So far, not getting what he was hoping for. The one right through there for a strike. He was a little out front, but did a good job keeping the hands back long enough to foul that pitch off. [Applause] Lifted to left center way back there and that is gone. And he’s gone yard again. His 52nd home run of the season. And they tack on to their lead. It’s 82. Singi. The ball is jumping off his back. Yes, it is. Tons of loud contact. Man, it’s been impressive. [Applause] He’s putting on quite the show at the dish here in this one. And he’s just so locked in with this swing and he’s just not missing right now. A three homer game, man. It’s so special. And I tell you what, it’s a lot of fun watching him pull it off as well. Now the Orioles manager is out of the dugout and he’ll make a move to the pan. Tommoyuki Seagado won’t go any further tonight. We’ll be back in a minute with a new arm on the mound. [Applause] Left-hander out of the bullpenic. And he’s had three days off since he pitched last. So, expect him to be totally rested. I’m sure he’s itching for this opportunity right now. [Applause] Base is empty with two away. And here comes Bellinger. And that misses one and0. [Applause] And another ball. Swing and a line drive and a base hit up the middle and that keeps the inning alive. Now batting. Now here’s the Yankees cleanup hitter Ben Rice. One for three. [Applause] Fast ball is outside. One ball, no strike. [Applause] Next offering is fouled back. [Music] [Applause] That one ripped right center field. That’s down. One hops off the wall. Coming home. The relay throw and he’s out. Cut down and that ends the inning. Always exciting to see a play at the plate. Trying to score with two outs, but the tag just gets him in time and they cut down the run to end the inning. Welcome back. We’re in the seventh. We have a new pitcher on the brian Yarro. Well, he’s been excellent against left-handed hitters this year, and that’s his first test. This looks like a good move to the pin in terms of the matchup. Now, a chance for Dylan Beavers. That one finds the zone and one. Yaro goes 6′ 5 in. He throws a slerve, a sinker, a force, a change up, and occasionally uses a cutter. Swanging a ground ball. Fair ball. Makes the turn and heads for second. The throw in and they hold him at second. Maybe this is going to be the moment they start the comeback. Designated hitterly just found a way to slap that ball down the third baseline. That’s really excellent back control. And it kind of goes back to all those drills you see hitters do off the tee where it’s placed in different spots. That was just nice. So, a man aboard. Next is the designated hitter, Adley Rutman, who’s 0 for two with a pair of strikeouts. That one not close. And that’s ball one. [Music] just missed. Struggled a little bit in this one. Couple of strikeouts earlier, but doing a much better job in this at bat to get ahead and find a good hitter count at 2 and 0. New York. Man at second. clips the corner and it’s two and one. Drilled in the air high and deep right field. That one carrying and that ball is out of here. He leaves the yard to right. It’s a four. They needed that one, Singy. Indeed they did. They’ve been fighting to get back into this game and just like that they’re back in it. [Applause] Elevated fast balls, especially away, are like putting a ball on a tee. Hitters do a lot of cage work. They’re comfortable hitting off the TE’s. And he was comfortable right there hitting that ball opposite field for a home run. Now the Orioles catcher, Samuel Basalo. ripped on a line. Gisham on the move and he hauls it in. Now back the center. And now the center fielder Colton Cowser [Applause] and that drops in for a strike. He must have been looking for something else cuz he gave up on that pitch a little early. It was right down Main Street. Probably not going to see a better pitch to hit in this at bat. Popped up foul territory behind the plate. And that’s a foul ball. Still only one out here in the inning. Pitches in the dirt and the count one and two. [Music] keeps the at going with a foul ball. One down. Base is empty. Up and in. Two and two. [Applause] Swings and misses. Struck him out. [Applause] And here comes the Yankees manager to the mound. Pitching change coming. Brian Yarro won’t go any further. And as he heads for the dugout, we’ll take a quick break. New arm on the mound when we get back. Now pitching out for the Yankees, Mark Lighter Jr. He’s got a wicked breaking ball in his arsenal and it’s definitely one of his go-to pitches when he needs an out. And now here is Kobe Mayo. [Applause] And ball one [Applause] and a swing and a miss. Base is empty. Two away, but two runs are in here in the top half of inning number seven. That one pushed fouled on the ground to short. Vulpi onto first that ends the frame. Baltimore with a two-run shot this inning. It’s now an 8-4 score. Back here in New York, John Carlos Stanton at the plate. The left fielder. John Carlo Stson. Swing at a highf fly ball deep left field. That one back there feeling for the wall. Makes the catch and found ground. just pull off of it a little bit right there. That front shoulder coming open instead of staying closed. If he does that, he’s going to be able to go up the middle the other way with some authority instead of a fly out to left. Chisum in the box with one away as he takes ball one. And that one ripped to left and he makes the catch. That’s out number two. Now batting the third baseman. Two down. Base is empty. And up next for New York, Ryan McMahon. Come on, New York. Just missed. [Applause] hit hard on the ground to short. Henderson over to first in time. That’s the inning. Down in order go the Yankees, but they still lead it by a count of eight to four. And we’re back ready to begin the eighth. Here’s the second baseman, Jackson Holiday. The pitch. That one to first. Rice. And he takes it himself for the out. Now batting the third baseman, Jordan Westber. Now the third baseman, Jordan Westber. He’s already homered here in this one. Great speed and great power. a great athlete quite simply. Just missed. He’s like Mike Trout. You figure whatever you put in his hand, whether it’s a bat, whether it’s a golf club, whether it’s a basketball, he can do it and get it done. And a rare talent. So much fun to watch. ball. Hard hit left field base hit. Well, I’m not saying that play was easy, but it was harder than it needed to be thanks to the bad jump. Those small moments can be costly. Gunner Henderson. One gone runner at first. Here’s the shorts stop at the play. Gunner Henderson. Closed but called a ball. And that’s ball one. Hit on the ground. Might be two. Rice toss to second. Back to first. Double play. And that’s it for the inning. No runs, one hit, no errors, and no one left. Home half of inning number eight straight ahead. It’s the Yankees eight and the O’s four. Back at Yankee Stadium. Out of the bottom of the eighth and stepping in for the Yankees, Anthony Vulpi. Vulpi. Povich back to work. It’s in and out of his glove. Still manages a throw and they get him. The misplay made it a bit messy, but they clean things up for the Austin Wells. Austin Wells stepping in now for the Yankees. He is at the top of the game in terms of defense at the catching spot. It’s so impressive because these guys have to do so much study and preparation for their pitchers, for opposing hitters, and really their number one job is to guide that staff through a ball game. And so when you also can turn it up offensively and be a force there, that is a win-win, every manager’s dream. Base is empty, one away here. bottom half of the eighth inning and a swing and a miss. Two away. Yeah, left-handed batter facing a left-handed pitcher that’s got some sink like that at the end. It’s just the bottom falls out of it, but it looks like it’s going to be a pretty good pitch in that location that everyone says lefties love. That one the other way brings it in for the third out. So, a young arm coming on now out of the pen. Number 31. And he’s got a nice lead to work with. So, he should come in throwing strikes, attacking these hitters. So, now the Orioles cleanup hitter, Tyler O’Neal. [Applause] That one finds the zone. That’s strike one. Movement in the Yankees pen. Will Warren getting loose out there for Aaron Boone. Bedar warming up as well. [Applause] Pop foul out of play off to the right. the 02. Ah, that hit him. And the leadoff man is aboard to start the inning. Well, it’s safe to say he won’t be getting invited to the charity golf tournament this off season. Man at first, nobody out. Dylan Beavers the next to hit for the Orioles. [Applause] Swings through that one. 0 and one. O’Neal aboard here at first with nobody out. [Applause] That’s off the inside corner and that is ball one. [Applause] swing and a miss and he struck him out and a strike out for the first out here in the ninth. Digging in, Adley Rutman, a former first round pick and he’s really turned into a nice everyday player. right through there for a strike. Power relievers one after another coming out of the bullpen these days. Got to be ready for that first pitch heater. That misses and it’s one and one. Straighten him up a little bit. The one-1 is fouled off. Man at first, one away. [Applause] On the ground to first could be two. Kulpi at second for one. And it’s a double play to end the ball game. The number 90 is a big number. You’re talking 90 wins over the course of a big league season. Extremely impressive. These players have worked hard all year long and they’re seeing the fruits of their labor. It’s not over yet though. And our final here today, 84. What a win for the Yankees for Chris Singleton and our entire crew. I’m John Shambi saying so long.
