Honestly not surprised. When you have key players stating the desire to leave earlier in the week based on previous experiences yet continuing on the same schedule that resulted in an exhausted team and a L, you'd think that changes would be made.

  1. I could be 1000% wrong but I heard that the nfl wanted the Vikings and Steelers to leave at the same time to avoid an advantage.

  2. This whole topic is confusing, because some sources are saying the NFL forced the Steelrs and Vikings to wait until Thursday, and then our team owner is saying something different…

My bet is that Art isn’t as plugged into the logistical side of things as people expect, and all of this was handled outside of his awareness. So he’s just kinda saying things to support his organization, rather than actually knowing.

But that’s all baseless speculation, so who knows.

  3. The NFL scheduled travel and accommodations for both teams to ensure fairness. Multiple reports of this are already out…

  4. So let me get this straight. The Steelers would have normally left as late as possible but wanted to be as early as possible this time to adjust, but the NFL didn’t want either team there before Thursday at the earliest.

  5. It was reported that the NFL forced both teams to travel Thursday.

Though it sounds like the Vikings were going to leave Sunday night so the NFL stepping in may have been to the Steelers advantage.

  6. If both teams are available to leave Monday, why would they not be allowed to? It makes no sense.

Hell if they wanted to play their last Sunday game and get on a plane and head to Ireland, why the hell would the NFL get involved?

  7. So we can take “distracted” off the table and go with “tomlin living in his fears” when we get boat raced…

  8. Meh, Who cares?
As long as the Steelers win and go 3-1 that’s all I’m bothered about tbh

  9. I had a feeling that report from the other day may not have been correct. These games have been going on since 2007 and as far as I know the league office has never been bothered about when teams fly.

  10. As someone who travels frequently from north america to europe, giving only this amount of time is totally moronic

  11. It doesn’t really make sense for Rooney and the steelers org to fight so hard to get an Ireland game just to spend as little time there as possible. So I buy into the report that the Steelers wanted to leave earlier but the NFL blocked it for sake of parity.

  12. Sigh. The NFL controls all of the logistics for the international games. The teams have absolutely no say. I don’t know if these posts are karma farming or what.
