I'll be honest, I haven't been much of a Ridley truther. I feel like what I've seen from Ayomanor seems like the future with Cam. Seems to have more chemistry with Cam, and I found this site that breaks down snap counts and routes run and based on both, Ayomanor is right up there with Ridley, including total targets too. Not saying we couldn't get another big WR upgrade, but any chance Elic could develop into a true #1 and grow together with Cam?

  1. Ridley’s first 3 games last year were almost as bad. He definitely needs a few games before he starts playing well.

  2. It all depends on coaching. He’s got talent and he clearly clicks with cam but if we can’t coach these young guys up it won’t matter in 2-3 years

  3. For this team Ayomanor could very well be our WR1 this year. The Titans have had a really weak WR room since AJ was traded outside of that 7-8 game stretch with a healthy D Hop.

  4. He’s well on his way to being a legit starting x receiver. I’d say that a steal in the late 4th round. Whether he is 1,2, or 3 depends on the other 2. I’d say ideally he is the 2 and we draft a 1 next year. Rid just needs to be released, we’ll eat a lot of dead money but its better than wasting a roster spot.

  5. I don’t know that Elic will ever become AJ Brown levels of good, but he will definitely be better than Corey Davis levels of good.

The fact that he’s been as successful as he has in our truly anemic offense speaks volumes if you ask me. He’s probably a lot better than his stats would suggest.

  6. Ayomanor pre draft was considered by many to be a 2nd round pick essentially potential starter traits but hasn’t been a WR very long thus was not fully developed with a robust route tree, and had a flaw (he was considered to have bad hands in college because the QB throwing to him threw god awful balls and he had to body catch several to compensate, and i believe it was this reason + his young age/inexperience that lowered his draft stock).

Obviously since his draft his hands have been relatively good with elite flashes and his inexperience appears to not be a big deal as he’s developing and is genuinely improving (even beyond my expectation for him).

So to answer your question, Yes. He will likely be a decent WR1 next year (this year he’s still learning… but it can’t be understated how big a step he’s taken from Stanford to the NFL and the fact he’s showing up regularly this early is impressive).

That said we need another starting WR in the near future, it cannot just be Ayomanor and Ridley looks lost out there despite near perfect balls thrown his way… (We probably can’t justify a first as both OT and Edge look to be filling out the top 10 spots next draft but maybe in a trade down scenario or in the 2nd or 3rd round, I wouldn’t hate it.)

  7. I see him as being a really good two, but could be our wr1 over the next two seasons until we draft a better one

  8. If he does they’ll just inexplicably release him after year 3 of his 4 year rookie deal. The Titans way.

  9. In an ideal situation he’d be a stud WR2 to pair with a good WR1

Like the Corey Davis to AJB setup

  10. I think he can be a mix of Anquan Bolden and Deandre hopkins at his peak. Big strong guy with a huge catch radius. He will be a great #2 but I don’t think he’s in the same realm as the top 10 to 15 guys in this league at that position

  11. Seems like fringe WR2, solid WR3 potential to me at.

Like if our WR room next year is a high a first at WR1, Ridley in the slot at WR2, and Ayomanor at WR3 I’d feel good about it.

Any world where Ayomanor is WR2, I’m probably complaining about the quality of our receivers.

  12. He feels like more of an X than a Z, but time will tell how he develops. I tend to not think about WRs in terms of 1, 2, 3, and more about how they fit into the scheme. Either way, he seems to be developing into a decent threat, but I don’t see him offering traditional top flight value at either X or Z.

  13. There is little doubt Ayomanor can become a great WR, from size, arm length, jump, and speed he ticks above average. Was on my Receiver wish list this last draft, his IQ will grow with each experience to where the weak links are and how to exploit. Just has to dodge injury.

  14. I think we can hope for a good WR2. The fact he’s already producing given his draft position is great.

  15. It’s very hard to tell at this point given our offensive struggles. I’d say he looks like he will be a #2 who will flash with big games.

  16. If he’s the level of WR2 on a good team he’ll be the best WR here In years excluding AJB and the 5 minutes where DHop was good here

Even AJB was running at 3/4 his capacity when here due to how poorly this franchise operates.
