Lots to get into. We’ll talk about the start from Jose Canana. The bullpen, although it had moments late in the game, Trevor McIll most notably, it did come through in the for the most part for this team. We’ll talk about that late game heroics. This game really got going for this Brewers uh team in the seventh inning. We’ll talk about that and and build off of this win. A rough little stretch in Chicago where you fell to the Cubs three out of five times and three of those games right in the middle of that series, but they were able to get a big win on Thursday and a very big win this evening. A a a I guess you can call it a come from behind win. They were down in this game early uh two nothing. So a good come from behind win. Wild Bill William Contrus walking it off for the Brewers. We’ll talk about uh you know just kind of building for you know what’s to come for this team in a very very winnable stretch here uh in Milwaukee with a series against the Giants and the Diamondbacks coming up. Let’s get quickly into your scoring summary this evening brought to you by our wonderful partners over at FiveHour Energy. And you knew it was going to be a big weekend, right? There’s a couple reasons, right? Number one is a celebration of life for the amazing Bob Uker that’s being held on Sunday. But you also knew it was going to be special because former fan favorite and I don’t think there’s a Brewer fan in the universe right now that has ill feelings towards Willie Adamis and I know Willie absolutely adores the fans here in Milwaukee. A standing ovation, a tribute video before the game at the plate when he came up to bat. He got the the standing ovation as well and he said hello to all the Brewers fans by knocking in a solo home run with two outs in the first inning. a 419 ft shot to left field that put the Giants up one to nothing. Nothing for the Brewers in the first. Another solo home run in the second would give the Giants a two nothing advantage. Then we get to the fourth inning. Nothing for the Brewers in the second. Nothing for either team in the third inning. In the fourth inning, the Brewers finally getting on the board. A Freelick double would score Christian Yelich. Then Vaughn would score on a wild pitch. That would not things up at two apiece. And then that takes us to the seventh inning and for me the turning point this evening in a 5 to4 Brewers win. Time to reveal where the game was won or lost. It’s the turning point. So the game wasn’t technically, you know, won or lost in the seventh as I as I know that’s what the description there is. But it felt like a big moment in this game and which proved to be big going forward and that’s why it’s the turning point for me. It’s the seventh inning and Andrew Monisterio hit by pitch in place of the injured Joey Ortiz at shortstop. So Mona getting the start uh for the Brewers. He was hit in the elbow at bat. He gets the first base. Terrain then with an infield single tried to bunt it or did bunt it down the third base line. The the Giants unable to convert. And then Wild Bill William Contrarus and keep that name handy because I think we all know where we’re going to go with this eventually. William Contrarus, the RBI, the go-ahead RBI double down the right field line. That would score. See who that scored. That scored Andre Monasterio. They intentionally walked Christian Yelich to load the bases. There was one out in this inning. Andrew Vaughn hit a ground ball to first base that Desed uh almost lost it, but he he regained the ball back, regained control of it, and tapped out Vaughn at first base. But that would give the Brewers a 42 advantage. And boy would that be huge because in the eighth inning once again William excuse me Willie Adamus uh coming through for the Giants once again this one off of Aaron Ashby a a solo shot for the Giants that would give them a uh a the Brewers still holding on to that 43 4-3 lead. Then another wild pitch in the ninth inning and very some unlucky breaks for Trevor Miguel. So Trevor McIll would come into the ninth inning. Uh it would be a a hit out to center field that probably Lockidge will tell you he should have stayed in front of. Instead, he tried to make the diving play. Uh Moss would then that would be a double for Moss. So, he would stretch that into scoring position. There was all two outs after this, you know, before the MTOS hit the two outs. Uh and then there was a a liner up the middle that if it doesn’t hit Trevor McIll’s leg, which it did, uh Bryce Terrain probably has the game ending out uh at second base. and and the Brewers would not need to go to the bottom of the ninth. Unfortunately, hits Trevor McIll’s leg. Uh got runners on first and third, two outs, a wild pitch, then scores uh Matoss from third base. The Giants would then tie it up. That would make it four to four. And without further ado, let’s get into tonight’s Locked On Brewers post player of the game. This is the Locked On Player of the Game. outs in the bottom half of the ninth inning in a soldout American Family Field after the Brewers returning home from a handful of games on the road including five in Chicago and William Contrarus with two guys out in the ninth. The base is empty says good night Giants. Good night, old friend Willie Adamus. And he walks off the San Francisco Giants. A 379 ft shot to left field. It hung up there for a while. I don’t know what the hang time was on that home run from William Contrus. It did feel like it it hung up there for quite some time, but he walks it off. It gets over that left field fence. The Brewers securing win number 81 on the season. 81 and 48. a league best 43 and 20 at American Family Field. Wild Bill your locked on Brewers postcast player of the game. Two for four this evening. The go-ahead RBI double in the seventh. And as you heard me mention it there, the walk-off home run to left field to send the Brewers home with their second consecutive win. Currently technically a seven and a halfame lead in the National League Central Division. in the Cubs game still in action, but the Brewers do get the win there. Their their second consecutive win in the first ever walk-off home run for William Contrarus. And the Brewers hold on for a muchneeded win, setting the tone for it’s going to be an emotional weekend, but it’s also a very big weekend because you’re playing a team uh that you should beat. Uh and then you’re welcoming in a team after the after the Giants leave that you also should beat. So it was pivotal for uh you know this team to get the win. Their ninth game in this stretch of 19 games in 18 days. Uh pivotal for them to get off on the right footing. Again the best record at home right now belonging to the Brewers and they get off to a good start against the Giants in front of the home crowd. A five to4 win. Your thoughts, your reactions, and of course your celebrations all welcomed up on the program coming up right after this. Once again, 5hour energy transfusion. A five to four Brewers win over the Giants to kick things off at American Family Field as the crew returns home after a stretch of days in Chicago. A a weekend out in Cincinnati. 81 and 48 now are the Brewers on this season and they win their second consecutive game. And real quick, I did mention that William Contrus is the lockdown Brewers postcast player of the game. And I don’t think anybody would technically disagree with me here, but I do want to give a little bit of an honorable mention to the Brewers bullpen this evening. And I know it wasn’t great for Trevor McIll in that ninth inning. I don’t blame Trevor McIll. I don’t have I’m not upset about the, you know, the effort that he gave. He also threw 17 pitches and 14 of them were landing for strikes, including his curveball, which is absolutely deadly. Uh, if he gets that landed early, which he did, uh, just some bad breaks there for Trevor McIll in the ninth inning. So, I I just that’s what I chock that up to. He does get technically get the win this evening at American Family Field. But Shelby Miller tonight, two-thirds of an inning pitched, no hits, no earn runs. Aaron Ashby, two innings pitched, and again, just that solo shot from Willie Adamus. At one point, the Giants had three runs and all three of their runs were coming on solo home runs. So, which had never been done yet this year uh in baseball. However, they do get uh a couple of hits in that ninth inning and eventually tie things up. But I I thought the bullpen and once again, Aaron Ashby, man, I mean, I don’t know that where this team would be without Aaron Ashby. We saw what he did on Thursday in Chicago or excuse me, Tuesday in Chicago, you know, being able to kind of pull through uh in that long relief uh four games. Aaron Ashby, DL Hall before him, obviously DL Hall on the IIL right now. But a huge shout out to the Brewers bullpen and really you go back to the Brewers bullpen really all week in Chicago that have been able to kind of keep their bullpen going forward and moving forward even with some short starts for the Brewers. So before, you know, we got into you guys’ thoughts and your reactions, I did want to I I’d be remissed if I didn’t mention I thought that the bullpen tonight and really for the course of the last handful of weeks has been instrumental into the success of what this team has had, you know, given, you know, again, injuries. Deal Hall, as we have mentioned, some short starts there for the Brewers, Quinn Preer on Thursday with a short start. Um, and yeah, we yeah, obviously Jacob Miserowski in that Cub series as well. So for this team to kind of pull through and be able to keep games close and competitive throughout even when you don’t, you know, expect your your starter to go out early in games has been huge. So shout out to the uh to the bullpen. We start with every day or GCP over on YouTube. What a win. Fantastic way to begin the home stand. However, Hookie Chris Hook pitching coach should have had a sit down with all the pitchers and discuss the free passes given to other teams these past few days. Yeah, the walks in Chicago were were really kind of interesting and a little bit eye opening. Uh certainly, you know, Quinn most notably on Thursday with a handful of walks and it’s been something he’s corrected since the Brewers made a trade for him, but I’m I’m not I’m not necessarily overly worried. It’s a great win. I agree with you, Cap. You You got to kick off the home stand, an emotional home stand with a win, and that’s exactly what they did uh this evening uh with the five to four uh win over the Giants, the walk-off win. Nick every day or over on YouTube. No doubt. Player of the game is William Contraras. Death by a thousand cuts. Cardiac kids. Let’s go Brew Crew. Keep terrain up. Okay, I see what you did there. Keep turning up the heat. I always I thought it said terrain at first. I was going to say it was a good little play on words there, but yes, keep turning up the heat. The Brewers again, keeping pressure on the Chicago Cubs, the National League Central Division, not the race not technically over, right? You’re still fighting for that overall number one seed. You you have the best record in baseball still. So, there’s not going to be any quit in this team, right? And and I’ll be honest with you, and I know we’re kind of looking back a few days here. I thought the Brewers overall were the better team in Chicago during that fivegame series. It just had it didn’t feel like anything went their way in that game in any of those games whatsoever. Some really bad breaks, some really hard, you know, outs that they made. So, again, keep the pressure on the Cubs, have them keep winning the Brewer schedule. A little bit tougher in September. Uh, but you’re able to get the job done at home in front of your home crowd and that’s all you can uh that’s all you can do at this point. As Glory Days Sports Consulting says over on YouTube, Brewers just taking care of business. Brewers control their own destiny. The power of the friendship. Dominic over on YouTube, Willie got a couple of home runs and we can still celebrate the win at the same time. What a great baseball game. Go Brewers. I have a confession and I’m curious if you guys have a confession and I would love to see your reactions on the live chat or if you’re going back and you’re later maybe you’re listening to the show or you’re over on YouTube or you you can shoot me a message on Twitter at Brandon Snide. Were you a little happy that Willie Adamis had that that leadoff home run? Because I’m I’m not going to lie, I was I smiled. I’m watching the game. I smiled. I have no ill feelings towards Willie Adamus. I love him. I wish he was still here. Fantastic person, great player. Uh and I was kind of happy for him. And he’s had a struggle. He hasn’t had a great year. Will, you know, Willie Adamus that is in San Francisco after signing that big contract. So, it did feel good for to see him. He’s only bad 224. Uh so, it felt good for me to see him kind of lift one. Uh and again, some Brewers fans were standing and cheering, some not. But, you know, I thought that was uh I thought that was pretty interesting. Joe over on YouTube, I don’t know if there are words to describe the level that this team is on. Absolutely picking up each other to help make the most of the uke magical season as they celebrate Bob Uker this weekend. It and and it’s interesting because we had Bob Casus on WTMJ airwaves this morning and he said he made a comment and he was close friends with with Uker. It was kind of interesting. Says, “How can we do we know for sure that it’s not Uker Magic?” Like I I know we’re talking about it and it’s fun and we see signs at American Family Field that people are holding up and I don’t know it just it it this year completely feels different even during their bad moments and and you can point no further than the three games in Chicago. You know that quickly is over. That was their first losing three-game losing streak guys since the beginning of May since May 7th through the 10th. Uh since the last time the Brew this Brewers team has lost three in a row and and and right away you bounce right back. this team just gets right back up and and picks each other up as Joe has mentioned and now have won two consecutive game. It two two consecutive games. It does feel like there’s some type of magic like there’s some type of lift like there’s some type of energy surrounding this team that it doesn’t matter who’s out. It doesn’t matter who’s in. Doesn’t matter who’s hurt, who’s healthy, who’s not, who’s pitching, who’s playing. It just it it doesn’t feel like all the way through the first week of June or so till we till this present day till August 22nd. It just doesn’t feel like this team is ever out of any game. They were once down 8 to1 in Cincinnati. That was just recently. I don’t know. It’s remarkable because I agree with you, Joe, that it is. It’s it’s everybody picks each other up, but it just feels different and I and I don’t I I can’t put a you know I I can’t put my thumb on it, but it certainly does have some type of magical feel to it. Austin over on YouTube, S has got to be up for player of the game. He didn’t do a ton, but having the lawn at bats did plus that double was huge. Crew saw Brewer saw 110 plus pitches through five innings. Yeah. Yeah. They made the opposing uh uh Weisen Hunt work uh the starter for San Francisco. They definitely made him work early in that game. And look, S has been as clutch as clutch gets. I mean, he just has been everything that this team has needed really all season long and and offensively and defensively. And and you’re right, you know, he’s a big part of where that team was in this game and being able to take counts deep. And that’s exactly what this team does, though, right? They they just they’re scrappy. They’re pesky. They’re hard to punch out. They they they wear on you and then when they get on base, you know, you make one mistake and and they just feed off of it. They’re I think actually S may have said it. I I’m thinking it’s S. It might have been Bryce, but maybe S said they’re sharks in water and if the second they sense, you know, any kind of blood in the water, they’re going at it. So, it’s it’s uh it’s remarkable. Not a whale every day or over on YouTube. Wild Bill Baby Bull don’t care. Cubs could beat the Angels 100 to1 and it still doesn’t matter. I thought there were some interesting words from former Brewers manager, current Cubs manager Craig Council after the Brewers had beaten the Cubs in that Thursday game five uh game uh to the the series finale there was very uh it almost was depressing if you’re a Cubs fan listening to him. If you’re a Brewers fan, it’s music to your ear. So for me it felt great. uh but didn’t feel like they accomplished what they were looking to accomplish in that series. They did beat the Brewers three out of two. They did take the season series, but for them to get back into a serious divisional race, they probably wanted to get at least four out of that series and the Brewers obviously holding them from that and then returning back home to Amfam tonight with the 5 to4 walk-off win. Couple more of your comments before we get things wrapped up. Stephen over on YouTube her Joey is now on the IIL. That is correct. He is on the 10day. I would expect that probably gets extended. Uh it’s a lowgrade strain for Joey O, but I believe that was the same grade that they gave Jackson Shurio, who by the way is on a rehab assignment in Nashville, 0 for three this evening, but on a rehab assignment. So, I would anticipate that uh that gets extended beyond 10 days and the Brewers kind of play it safe. But how great is it to have a guy like Andrew Monasterio, you know, who we just saw last weekend, you know, in Cincinnati with that extra innings, home run tonight, one for three, you know, and again, depth, depth, depth. That’s where this team just has been fantastic. Kudos to Matt Arnold. Uh kudos to Pat Murphy for keeping these guys ready, keeping them engaged, and for Mona to come off the bench and right away make an impact defensively with a nice catch this afternoon or this evening, I should say. and also the extra bases hit as well. Again, a couple more of your comments before we get things rolling on the Lockdown Brewers Postcast Outdoorsman Show over on YouTube. Heck yeah, boys. Magic number is now 27 for the Central, 20 for the postseason, and 28 for overall first place. Let’s continue to win as much as we can. Outdoorsman show, you are now our magic number guy here on the Locked On Brewers post. So, I want you to be able to keep us updated. Of course, we only want to talk about it when we win cuz uh I’m a sore loser like that, but totally kidding. But, uh, absolutely. So, 27 for the National League Central Division. The Cubs game not final yet. 24 the postseason. This team will be celebrating a birth here very, very shortly. Every day, Charles over on the YouTube chat, what a massive swing of emotions from despair to jubilation. Contrarus keeps the magic going. Clutch at bat. Two clutch at bats, Charles. Although I agree with you, it was I’m not going to lie to you. I’m I’ll be quite honest with you. When Trevor McIll came on for the ninth inning, I had everything locked and loaded as this team was going, you know, everything chocked up as a four to three win. And then obviously when the Wild pitch, scored the game tying run, I of course had to delete everything and start over. And then you’re right, Charles, because the first two Brewer at bats uh quick outs at the uh bottom of the ninth and then I’m thinking, all right, let’s go to the 10th and start getting ready. field, see who’s up, who’s coming out, who’s in who’s healthy enough to pitch in the bullpen, and then William Contrus sends it off and and it just it it definitely was it was a roller coaster uh ending to this game, but the Brewers really get a big win, a 5-4 win over the Giants. Jason, the biggest thing I love about this team is they play as one team. Even when a save is blown, it doesn’t matter. The guys will get it done. This is the most team-like team I ever witnessed as a fan. That’s a great comment cuz I and we kind of touched on it a little bit. It’s so true though. I mean, it’s so true when you look at, you know, this team and and I had somebody ask me that is covers a different team. Who’s your best player? That that was the question, you know, that in in the text chat. Who’s your best player? Who would you who would you say is your staple at your team right now? Well, it name recognition it’s Christian Yell, right? But tonight it was William Contrar last weekend. It was Andrew Monisterio. It’s Ben Isaac Collins. It’s been Andrew Vaughn. It’s been Bryce Terrain. It’s been Sal Felick. It’s been Jackson Cheerio. It’s been Caleb Durban. Like, it’s literally been everybody, right? It’s been the bullpen. It’s been starting pitching. It’s Ben McGill. It’s been Pat Murphy. It’s been Chris Hook. Oh, what are you going to do without Matt uh Matt Arnold running things? It’s just it’s everybody. So, I completely agree with you, Jason. It’s just you can’t put your thumb on one or two players on this team. And that is why this is such a dangerous team going into the postseason because again I think there was another comment in the YouTube chat. Death by a thousand cuts. They they will find a way to get to you. They will find a way. Jacob every day or over on YouTube. I love I would love for Colin’s bat to get going now to get this offense rolling more, but I can’t say much when he’s been but I can’t say much when he might be a bit rusty after missing the weekend series against the Reds. Sorry for my reading comprehension there, Jacob. Yeah, and again, you know, new dad delivered on Thursday, though, right? Delivered when it counted. Isaac Collins with the two-run RBI single against the Cubs uh at Wrigley Field. So, he did deliver when it counted. So, I’ll take that uh for the Brewers as they uh get the win this evening, a five to four win over the Giants. Let’s see if I can squeeze in a few more of your guys’ comments here on the Locked On Brewers postcast as the Brewers get their 81st win of the year. A fantastic win. A a win again where a it’s an emotional weekend, right? It’s a uh it’s a Bob Uker celebration of life. And then Willie Adamus also coming back to American Family Field. Chef Jake over on YouTube, my birthday present today. Miguel blew the save so I could see the first walk-off from William ever. Yes, William Contrus, appreciate your comments, Chef Jake walking it off for the Brewers. His first of his career. He of course gets the honors for the Lockdown Brewers postcast, a 5 to4 win over the Giants. My thanks to each and every one of you. Thank you. Thank you so much for always making Lockdown Brewers Postcast part of your day, each and every Brewers game. A quick show note, and I know you guys are going to be upset at me. There will be no postcast show tomorrow because I will be on the locked on Packers channel hosting the squad show after the team’s uh final preseason game. And going forward, unfortunately, when the Packers play, I will be hosting that show. And Chuck Freeman will not be filling in tomorrow, but will be filling in on Packer game days uh from here on out. So, we will be live on the Locked OnPackers YouTube channel after the preseason game tomorrow and it coincides a little bit with the Brewers game. So, no Brewers postcast tomorrow. Uh, but we will pick things back up on Sunday afternoon. Again, my thanks to each and every one of you. Thank you for always making Locked On Brewers part of your day. You can listen wherever you get audio podcast. We are free and available also over on YouTube. Just search Locked On Brewers. Hit that subscribe button for me. Hit that notification bell. Hit that thumbs up for me. My name is Brandon Snyde. Once again, you can follow me on X, formerly Twitter, Brandon Snide. And once again, no show tomorrow, but we will pick things back up on Sunday. A walk-off win, baby. Celebrate it. Have a good night. And as always, win, lose, or draw. Their second win in a row. It is always go Brewers. Have a good one, everyone. Thank you.

The Milwaukee Brewers won their second-consecutive game, this one a 5 to 4 win over the Giants. Jose Quintana got the start for Milwaukee, tossing 5.1 innings while only surrendering two earned runs. William Contreras delivered the go-ahead RBI double in the 7th inning to break up the tie game, and then walked it off with the solo homer in the bottom of the 9th inning.

  1. Another exciting game and big win considering the Cubs won tonight.
I am getting a little worried about the bullpen lately though it's been a long time since I've seen them cruise through innings. They have been putting a lot of guys on base even if they manage to get the save. It's rarely ever easy.
We also need Chourio's bat back very soon. Guys like Seigler, Lockridge, etc aren't gonna cut it come playoff time.

  2. I liked it when it was 4-2 , stick to winning by the RL and Shelby Miller has to go I think , reminds me of Devin Williams loading up the bases! Good closers that aren’t great , not gonna work! Definitely not during the playoffs , damn Adames almost won the game for the Gmen but thankfully we got the Homer from our Willy , William Contreras! Ahhh , at a boy

  3. The players I believe need to play everyday because of their bat or defense or both are:

    Frelick
    Turang
    Chourio
    Contreras
    Collins
    Yelich
    Ortiz
    Vaughn

I think 3B is our only hole. Looks like Durbin is the only option there right now.

I like Perkins & Monasterio but I think they need to be backups.

P.S. Have they tried Monasterio at 3B this season. He has played there in the past. I have to be honest, not sure if he would be better than Durbin. Also, wonder what is gonna happen when Ryhs returns?

  4. I noticed a lot of reactors don't say anything or maybe they don't catch on about the car the doctor steals when he is being chased by Frank and the teen driver. The car the doctor steals was owned by a random citizen, but yet it somehow has star shaped gadgets that extend out from the rims to damage the car that Frank hijacked🤔😁

  5. It's a special season no doubt. Enjoying every day of this "summer of entertainment". But let's be clear – Uecker has NOTHING to do with it from beyond the grave. Please stop with this nonsense. It's offensive to Christian Brewers fans.

  6. Well, said it all along. Have no confidence in Grant Anderson. Yes, there were those 2 E's but still 3 hits ?? As for Carlos Rodriguez, no matter how many chances you give him, he doesn't have it for the bigs.
