Although with all due respect to Jerry, Dirk was a monster. Two WCF wins and one leading to a Championship? That was one of the biggest carry jobs, and going against the trio of Heat? Yeah he’s a superstar personally. Maybe for a shorter stint, but superstar for sure.
As for Luka, of course, he could have been the best thing Dallas ever saw, but we’ll hopefully nurture this talent in LA.
Jerry West was around this game at the highest level for a long time and was highly respected the whole time. He knew what he was talking about.

Is that why the Lakers went for him instead of anyone else? Damm the great Jerry West has left this organization quite some time ago and now they started listening to him again. Perhaps idk bring him back as an advisor now? Perhaps time to make right what was once wronged.
as a mavs fan who loved and defended dirk through the years he was getting slandered, this is absolutely the truth. dirk imo is a top 20 player of all time. luka should be top 10 when its all said and done. unfortunately hes been set back badly. mark ruined his early years with crappy teams/trades. then nico came in and actually built a nice squad around him, but then traded him away the first year that squad would have had a full season together.
never been a laker fan, but im wholeheartedly pulling for luka to win multiple championships, even if they come at dallas’ expense. anything to embarrass nico for his stupidity.

His statement is pretty clear, Lukas in a higher rarified air than Dirk.
Mark Cuban who watched Dirk play his whole career said Luka is better than Dirk in multiple interviews. Dirk himself has even said Luka’s better. Luka said Dirk’s better though lol.
Dirk himself said that Luka is something else.
The best gratitude a player can have from his former team’ fans, standing and cheering him during his return games and chanting to fire a GM who traded him away. Luka forever. We all play that he wins at least one championship with the Lakers, that would buy Nico a ticket straight to the MVP section of a place noone wants to end up at for eternity.
Luka needs a ring. Hopefully soon, it’s his time to shine.

Of course talent and potential isn’t guaranteed to fully max out though, at the end of the day Dirk had an MVP and a championship and there’s no guarantee Luka gets either.
