St. Louis Cardinals Manager Oli Marmol’s BOLD Move Denies Michael Busch Cycle Opportunity

The St. Louis Cardinals pitching staff gets blasted again by Michael Bush and the Cubs. It’s JD from Lock on Cardinals. And the Chicago Cubs have played home run derby against the Cardinals all season. And on Saturday, they smoked four more long flies to give them 28 in just 12 games against St. Louis. Nobody’s enjoyed seeing them more than first baseman Michael Bush. He hit two more in this game. He’s now got nine against them by himself this year. So mad drama though with the score seven to three in the eighth inning. Bush had a chance to hit for the cycle. He was a single short, but during the previous at bat, Dansby Swanson, who had let off the inning with the double, decided he’s going to steal third base, so he can give himself a 2020 season. Mind you, they’re up by four runs at this point. So, congratulations, Stanby. You just took the bat out of Michael Bush’s hands because Cardinal manager Ali Marl said, “Oh, if you’re going to play it that way, intentional walk for you, Mr. Bush. Enjoy first base.” So, basically snatched away his chance to get the cycle. Some nasty business going on, but it’s the Cubs. So screw them, right? Nolan Aronado and Jordan Walker hit home runs, but it was another ugly 13 strikeout performance for this offense. The Cardinals will try to avoid the sweep to end the season on Sunday.   5. Was sad,makes me sick seeing my team get demolished by the Cubs. Had to cut the game off yesterday as Mikolas pitched home run derby. Guess we'll see what happens tomorrow. Be nice to go out with a win, but I won't be holding my breath. May watch my Titans get thrashed tomorrow as well. None of my teams have been good this year. Maybe this is what happens to people before they quit watching sports at all.🤣

  7. Get ready folks……a rebuild is absolutely necessary with this organization. 26 27 and possibly even 28 are going to be very rough seasons but I'm a die hard fan and will support my squad through the dark days. It's time to go young and replenish. Go Birds ❤⚾️

  10. From what I understand, Butch was trying to complete his 20/20 and of course get paid and that’s the reason I’m pretty sure he took third. Been a diehard Cardinal fan since the 90s. I definitely do not agree with walking bush. The baseball gods are angry and so am I.

  16. "Hungo" is the only one in St Louis media that called this what it was. Even with Alexa Datt trying to steer him the other way, Al was clear. You alway play for the 5 run lead because that way a grand slam still doesn't beat you. Personally, I still wouldn't risk stealing 3rd with only one out. But that gave Swanson 20 steals. ( Maybe he has a bonus in his contract?) But right or wrong, Al said in so many words the fans want to see their player hit for the cycle…..Not Oliver Marmol. For myself, if Marmol really felt offended by the stealing then instead of walking the batter, you put one in his ribs and send him to first like the old days. Pretty Bush League by Marmol and Council considering there's only a game left.
