Chicago Bulls Have A Pathway To Acquire Their Big Man Of The Future In Walker Kessler!
The Chicago Bulls might have a pathway to acquire their center of the future. Somebody ring up Walker Castler at the grocery store. Y’all know we going to talk about it. Plus a lot more on today’s episode, but you know, you got to hear the music first. Gang, gang [Music] boys podcast with the cog boys. I’m cog boy Bobby and I am with my dog C Dub. What’s the word? What’s go man? And the countdown is on, baby. It’s almost here, baby. We back. Hey, next week we get to talk more more more about Chicago Bulls basketball with media day kicking off on the 29th and training camp kicking off the same day. It’s going to be lit, y’all. We going to have a lot of fun this upcoming season and see what these young Bulls can do. But see Dub, the Chicago Bulls might have a pathway to acquire their center of the future this season potentially. According to T. Jones on Twitter, he’s a a guy that’s a part of the NBA. The Utah Jazz will not sign Walker Kessle to an extension. He’s expected to become a restricted free agent this upcoming summer. Well, next summer. The Utah Jazz and Walker Castle will not reach an agreement on a rookie scale contract extension, league sources tell the Athletic, which clears the way for the starting center to reach restricted free agency next summer. Cub, big news for the Chicago Bulls if they are interested. But hey, after hearing all that, what you thinking about it? Oh, that’s perfect, nephew. Uh, a guy that’s defense first, rebounds, his best quality in bling shots. Uh, he can’t shoot worth a lick. I’m sorry. He just can’t shoot. But who needs it? This guy will be a perfect fit for the Chicago Bulls. But what can we do to get him? What do we give up if we want to trade for him before that contract is up after this season? We got plenty assets. Do the Utah Jazz want a Nick V who is one of the most best centers in the league? I knew he was going here. Or Patrick Williams who you can depend on who’s going to be a three and D player for your team and you can rely on and count on nine points and four rebounds each and every [ __ ] game. It don’t matter what game it is, but look, we got assets. I ain’t even going to laugh. Hey, hey, no [ __ ] We got pieces to trade for Walker Kesler. Even if you want to make a big trade, I ain’t going to put no names in it. Even if you want to lose one of the names that we’ve been getting used to for the last four, five years, you can do that because that is a part of the future. That is a center that can lead us into the new future of this young Chicago Bulls team. Just learn how to shoot. Walker, how you shooting like 20% from three? Crazy work. Go ahead. It is crazy work. But I think that if the Chicago Bulls are interested, it’d be a hell of a way to pivot. I think that it’ll be a way to say, “Hey, we got a young Josh Giddy with experience because because when we talked about the Chicago Bulls and what they told us, a lot of the time, Cub, a lot of people hear what the front office tell us and they still come up with their own ideas.” And I be like, since when hasn’t the front office done what they told us they was going to do? No, bro. We looked a few years back, they said ain’t going to be many moves. We banking on continuity. They stuck to continuity. And then they said, “We’re going to try to trade Demar.” They traded Demar. They wanted to trade Lavine. They traded Lavine. What we’re looking for is young players with experience. People still wanted a lot of draft picks, but when the Bulls got young players with experience, they were shocked. They told us everything we needed to know. Yep. I just don’t understand. They told us everything we needed to know. So, here’s my thing. I’m with attempting to go after Walker Kesler. But the question number one is how much does he cost? Utah. That’s number one. And then Cdub, number two, I want you to answer after this. Remember this offseason plan was to draft a player and acquire one player. They did that and then my man’s Mark Eversy said, “We’re looking forward to 2026. We have a plan. We’re not going to skip steps.” C Dove, so my question is is do you think the Chicago Bulls will entertain this and try to acquire? Because if you try to acquire Walker Kesler, you’re giving up a player to make the salaries match, but then you’re also giving up draft capital. Do you think that’s something that the Chicago Bulls will be willing to do right now? Maybe they giving up uh draft capital. It it depends on the on the negotiations. I think this definitely something they should look forward to. a guy a young guy in Walker Kesler who can be your um anchor in the paint for the next 10 years to be honest. Um he can work on this game. He can get better offense. Uh everybody can get better in the game. Um I think you do it. I think you if you really looking forward to changing the landscape of this team, the template of this team, you got to change that center position. And then I think probably the only thing left to to really change is the center position. It’s going to be awkward with Nick Vuch out there for the for the beginning of the season. And soon y’all will be figuring out all y’all just leave V alone. V is okay. Got a game and then y’all fussing at him all through the year. He said y’all gonna be fussing at Voo for all 31 games that he here. So let’s do it, man. Let’s just show some cohoess. Let’s leap forward. Cuz when you look at the 2026 free agency class, is it anybody there that could just change the change your team that much? What about the draft class though? Nah, maybe you got some Boozer twins, a couple other guys. It’s going to be a decent little class, but those are young, really young guys. I think we a little ahead of schedule be trying to get. So if we was looking at those guys, we looking for a young big, you know, a young center. So I don’t think we in the business of waiting to cultivate a young guy and cultivate him to the guy that we need because every rookie is going to going to take their lumps. Every single one, LeBron James, Michael Jordan, Larry Bird, Magic Johnson, anyone they taking their lumps. Well, Magic Johnson. Yeah, that’s an anomaly, right? Imagine we want champion, but I don’t want to have to go through that. We we I think we already in a good lead. We got a good lead on the rest of the teams that’s trying to rebuild for the future. I think that we pick up a already established young big man young big man to lead us into the future. And Walker Kesler, he fits that bill pretty perfectly to not perfectly because his shooting is a little off. It’ been better if he could shoot a little bit, but he can’t. But I think he could be the guy that could take us into the future. Yes, I think that’s an interesting way. I think that’s because like when you talk about Walker Kessler, you look at him and you say, “Hey, shot blocking, defense, rebounds, etc., etc.” Um, it’s just that my my concern comes in with the Chicago Bulls and saying, “Hey, are you ready to relinquish more draft capital?” Um, it’s definitely a conversation to have for show simply because I think Walker Kess only like 23 24 years old. So if you get him right now, you can go ahead and say he’s with us. We can let him play out this year and then sign him as a restricted free agent or let the market determine where you know his what his value is. And I think honestly the Bulls hand will be forced a little bit more so with Walker Kesler than it was with Josh Giddy to where the Bulls were just negotiating versus themselves. But if you have a Walker Kesler, you’re going to be negotiating with some other teams that might have to pick them up. So they could either drive the uh price up for him or whatever. But I still think it could be a possibility that you could take a swing at it. But C Dub, now here’s the thing, and I want you to respond. Would it be smart for the Chicago Bulls to say, “Hey, Utah Jazz, here’s a player X. We just gonna name the player X and then who here’s two first round picks or with the expectation of having money in 2026. Do you say as a restricted free agent will make him an offer and force the Jazz to go out there and match the offer? Which route which route would you take when it comes to Walker Kesler? Um, first of all, I don’t I don’t think that we need to give up draft picks for Walker Kesler. I would go with a player for player exchange for Walker Kesler. What has he done in this league to deserve any type of draft pick, especially two first rounders? That’s crazy. I got to I got to I got to uh ask you a question. What determines does a young age is that determining factor when you want to get draft draft capital recouped is the age is that the number one factor for you? I don’t necessarily think it’s always the number one factor but I think it is a factor. I don’t think I just personally and I know what question you asked but personally I don’t think you can you don’t have to give up draft capital. Me personally, I think that it’s going to cost them this going to cost the Bulls some draft capital simply because we heard Walker Kesler name be placed in the trades of a like Los Angeles Lakers. You know what I’m saying? That’s one name I could think of. So, I think there’s some draft capital that might have to be included of what they’re asking for him personally. But, okay, just think what a what is Walker I think he’s he got benched last season as well. uh Walker Kesler. Uh I just think that he’s not he’s not gonna garner any kind of draft capital at least at the bat. Let me give you that upfront off bat. You don’t enter the the negotiation say I got two first rounds and I’ll give you Nick Vu. I’m not going to [ __ ] around. I’m just going to say Nick Voo. I give you Nick Vu. Head up. Hey. Well, the money probably don’t match. It’s some money [ __ ] going on right there. they have to give a player and you could probably cut the player that they give. Maybe they want a Nick V who’s talented and can shoot the three who can rebound and stuff like that. That’s he’s Would you Would you agree that he’s a a more valuable asset than Walker Kesler right now? At least not for us, but No. Yeah. I think that’s fair. I think at least right now you can consider walk Nikolus still being a valuable asset based on because he’s 32 like 32 33 34 [ __ ] I’m way off 34 years old something around there at least and this is a big man that’s gonna get you 18 and 10 regardless. Yeah. And he still shown in Euro basket that he still got game. Yeah. that in the Euro basket he had a 30point game with 12 rebounds. In the Euro basket he was given he averaged a double double the same numbers. So he’s he’s valuable but I think that also when you talk about the value and when you talking to Danny A who’s running the Utah Jazz he won’t draft Capital bro. I just I just think that there’s nothing that’s gonna be done without a pick. A pick. At least a pick. How about this? We’ll give you Patrick Williams straight up. No, it ain’t happening. Why not? I think it’s a Patrick making more money than Walker Cast. We don’t even Bro, you he got youth. He’s still under 25. I think that I think that Patrick Williams in the first round pick might be able to suffice. Why in the hell do you keep trying to give up? because I don’t believe that Walker Kesler is being moved without draft capital. I just don’t see it. Do you Are you Are you Can it happen? Yes. I Are you willing to enter the negotiations without offering a draft pick? At first, I would call them and see what they want first. I don’t tell them what I got. I’m calling and making an offer. What’s the You said, “Hey, we’ll give you Patrick Williams.” First, I’m going Nick V. You know me. I’m going I’ll give you Nick V. What you got for Walker Kesler? You go give me something else. We can match these salaries and I can cut them. And then and then if they don’t want that, oh, I got a Patrick Williams over here. Young guy. Maybe y’all can develop him and make him a better player. Like I will not offer him any first. Okay, I’m not offering a first round pick regardless the deal for Walker. I’m just not going to do it. Second round, you know, I might throw that in there, but first round is No, I can’t do it, Matthew. I can’t. Yeah, bro. It’s just That’s what I’m saying. Like, they have a path. The Bulls have a path, but it always comes to how much are you willing to give up for this? Because we gave up what? Two first round picks for Nicolola. Look how that turned out. Mhm. And we heard reports, and I’m I’m checking right now, we heard reports that for the Lakers to acquire Walker Kesler, they wanted Austin Reez and two first round picks. Wow. Which which why it never happened. So, oh my god, bro. Now, I understand that. I understand that because Austin Reeds, whether you believe he’s a one, a two or three, he still have a basketball player on where you want to mark him up on the championship team, right? But yeah, that that asking price is too high. That’s way too high. So if you coming back to the table, you got to lower expectations. Okay, P will first round pick. I think that’s a win. Can I offer just P Will first and then I throw in a first round pick? If they be like, “Nope, not juicy enough.” And then I’ll be like, “All right, one first round pick.” A 2029 first round pick. You just don’t want the Bulls to get SK get schooled in it, right? Cuz I want to get schooled, bro. Cuz they don’t have to. They don’t have to, nephew. They don’t have to, bro. Because they could have had the money to get a guy. I don’t see a lot of good good guys in a 2026 off seasonason, but they got the money to get anybody they want to get. Uh, and Walker Kesler ain’t the only guy that’s out there that you got the the kid from uh Detroit who’s been Stewart. Isaiah Stewart as well. I’m mad at that. Yeah. And that’ll be a cheaper price. That’ll be cheaper, bro. Yeah. I’m not even going to hold you. That’ll be a cheaper price. Yeah. So, it’s just a lot of people out there, man. It’s a lot of options out there, but it’s also some traps out there. Don’t get yourself trapped out there, Chicago Bulls, by giving up too much for something that you didn’t have to. Like, giving up two first round picks for Walker Kesler will be a grave mistake that’s going to come back to haunt you. Not saying that Walker Kesler won’t be great. I’m just saying you might need that them assets later on in in you know in a couple years or something. So you got to be careful with this but don’t give up the farm for this guy. But we will with scene though. I agree with that. I think that’s something that that you can abs absolutely look at when it comes to what are you willing to give up. Now, we seen our front office in the Chicago Bulls overvalue players and miss out on opportunities. This could very well be the same thing for the Utah Jazz. Y’all overvaluing this guy. Y’all don’t even like him like that. Like, y’all keep y’all keep throwing him in trade conversations. That mean y’all don’t even like him like that. Y’all just know that he good enough to make a team like the Chicago Bulls be interested for sure. But you hope that the front office don’t go out there and get their ass worked in another deal. You know what I’m saying? Because we seen some deals to where this bull’s front office, you like, you traded him for him and didn’t get Right. Right. Right. Peep it like this. You go buy a used car, nephew. I know you don’t buy a used car. You You get your new car. I had a used car before. Oh, you had a Oh, so you know what I’m talking about. When you when you go buy a used car, you going to check that [ __ ] thoroughly. Right. Facts. So, it’s two things that I’mma spot and be like, “What’s up with this with Walker Kesler? He’s the the used car and be like, “This [ __ ] can’t shoot. His free throw percentage is down down. He shoot 50% from the free throw line. He shoot 20% from the three-point line. Take some take some money off that price for this right here. I’mma still take it. Take some money off the price for this.” Another I’m looking around. I’m looking at the bumper. I’m looking at the side fender. Oh, I see a little dent. And that dent is slow at foot a little bit. He’s a little slow. He a big tall lanky [ __ ] He’s slow. That’s another dent. Take a little price off there. Look at him as a used car and make sure you get the real value of this kid. Just don’t go and snatch him and just snatch them and give away the farm for this and give them three first round picks. It’s crazy work for a used car. Hey, speaking of used cars, boy, the first time I went to go buy a used car, it was a goddamn Pontiac Grand Damn all white. Everybody get the Pontiac Grand. I ain’t buy it, but it was what I was looking at. My granddad Lewis, you know him. That [ __ ] looked at it. He said, “It’s dark outside. Roll it up closer to the garage where the light at.” Oh, bro. Oh, bro. Damn. That boy was said, “How much y’all trying to charge for this?” I think they was like seven, eight grand. He looked at him. He said, “Bobby, hell no. We leaving.” And we got up out of there, bro. We got up out of there. Guess what? Next day, found me a car thousand uh for $1,000. That [ __ ] had 98,000 miles on that old O’s Mobile Aero. kept me rolling for three years. I ain’t rolling with that guy for three years. Crazy. But I get you. I catch your drift. I think that’s very important for the Bulls to do to look at Walker Kesler and say, “Hey, I mean, I get it. If you want to overvalue him, Utah, but this is his actual value and if we have to pay him.” So C Dub to just to put the bow on there. You saying that there’s potential that the Bulls might have to wait until the off seasonason of 2026 to get this accomplished maybe. And then I think actually I’m not opposed to getting them for a trade during the season to just to see it just being a basketball fan. Mhm. But the more logical and the best way is probably wait to a restricted free agent. I don’t maybe somebody and see if they match it. Yeah. And give them a give them an offer. I don’t think they would match it. I don’t think Utah match anything. I got a followup. Go ahead. Go ahead. So that mean you good with Nick V being here for the 2025 26? No, I did not say that. Don’t put words in my mouth. I did not say that. We got two bigs that can hold the fort if Nick Boots get cut, traded, or retires. We got two big men already that Hey, I ain’t going to hold you now. I am just saying. Hey, wait, wait, wait, wait. And we got And we got Oric. And we got Ober from from Australia. Damn, that ain’t move you. No, I like I like his game. I like Lacklin, bro. I hope the Bulls actually give him some opportunity personally. But are they? Yeah. Nah. Chalk it up to the game. [ __ ] you. We’ve seen this two times in a row. We remember Senogu. Adama Adama Senogu and [ __ ] uh Marco Samanovich. They asses both out of the country and it’s not about the orange guy. They both left on their own accords. Hey, that [ __ ] funny. Yeah, bro. I’m just saying, bro, stop playing with me with Vs, bro. Stop trying to be slick slick with the boys. I’m just saying the Bulls might be like, “He’s so valuable. He’s going to be here for the entire 2025 26 season.” Goofy is hell. We don’t care if you called and offer us two second round picks. We’re not going to use him anyway. Nick V is better than that. That’s exactly how it’s going to go, bro. That’s exactly how it’s going to go. I can’t believe this [ __ ] going to start this. Hey, I ain’t going to lie to you. If Nuke Vuch ain’t traded by January 25th, he here to stay. This man said January 25th. Why 25th? Is that the Is that the trade deadline up? No, it’s not. But that [ __ ] Why the random ass 25th? I don’t know. That’s the first thing that came to mind, bro. That’s the first thing. If that [ __ ] ain’t traded before October 7th. Oh, you ain’t getting that. You ain’t getting that, brother. They going to try to win some. Hey, don’t let the Bulls be winning games. Oh my god. Oh my god, bro. If they winning, the Chicago Bulls are winning games and it’s all because of V. And Nikolovich has been a intricate piece to our success. You know that’s how they talk. And we don’t want to skip any steps in our process. 2026 is on the way. Get ready. Oh my god. You think they could steal Jaylen Durant from the Pistons? Hell, I don’t know. Off of that bag. I don’t know. You got to overpay that [ __ ] Hey, the boys going to have money. They can do whatever the [ __ ] they want. Yeah, that’s probably why I don’t necessarily know if they might get into the Walker Castler. Going back into the topic, but it’s a path. There’s a way. There’s a way. There’s a way. I I did tell you that I ain’t I don’t mind a trade in the middle of the season, but the best path is just wait. That’s it for me. I agree with that. Can’t knock it. Walker is a not mid level young talent💯what’s exciting about that..is he a starter on a playoff or championship level team ?
Kessler Offer:
2028 1st rd pick
Two 2nd rd picks
Expiring Contract
Qualifying offer only for Kessler, that is all, no more trading draft capital-full stop
Kessler and Ace for White and Ayo
Give them Pat Williams, Vucevic & a 1st rd pick in 2028!!
I can’t believe that it has been a lot of conversations on Walker lately, because I have been low key wanting him on this team since we passed on him in the draft. That will be a dream scenario if the front office is actually thinking about this.
Bobby and C Dub are back! The season about to start I can’t wait!!!!!!
I feel about the same way about this news as I did about the Josh Giddey signing before it happened. I'LL BELIEVE IT WHEN I SEE IT!!
