And I thought last season was rough

  1. Love this. Agreed. We had fuckin heart this season when we should’ve been well behind first place. Excited for next year

  2. Threw out the Space Cowboys for a month straight and somehow had the second best record at one point

Gave it a good run 🫡

Edit: I completely forgot Spencer, Ronel, and wesneski all went down a month and a half into the season 😭

  3. Forgot Dezenzo existed! Long season, glad it’s over, hope for better health luck next year.

  4. Didn’t include that JP France was out just about all year due to the injury last season or Shawn Dubin going on/off the IL and then getting DFA’d after showing some promise

  5. When we were riddled with injuries and still winning games, I thought we were outplaying our actual talent level. It’s awesome we took this long to actually get eliminated, I feel like this is a good base for us to build on when we’re fully healthy.

  6. Blessed to enjoy the season despite the struggles, as I’m always saying. We need to keep in perspective of the fact that all but 12 teams had worse seasons than us this year, and for those of us that have been fans since at least 2017, we have had an unprecedented team to watch for 8 years running, and if not for injuries, we’d have had a 100 win team yet again this year, and a likely WS favorite. We still have the vast majority of this roster till 2028.

edit: also losing the best closer in baseball, is probably a big deal XD

  7. The Astros can’t depend on Alvarez. He’s generally injured. He’s worth little to a team because he hardly plays.

  8. I guess Espada will be looking for a job. Considering the injuries they still did alright.

  9. We should not be upset that we didn’t make it to the playoffs this year. We should be amazed we almost did.

  10. I’m gonna be the wrench in the works here… but fuck this excuse that injures cost us the season. They didn’t… the team giving up, and not caring did.

The Astros were injured to hell all though the first half of the season as well, and despite those injuries, and with what had been the statistically the hardest schedule in baseball up to that point, by the end of June we were contending for #1 seed in the AL. This team had tenacity despite the injuries and players on the IL. The “Next Man Up” philosophy driving the team.

By comparison at the end of June the Astros had statistically *easiest* remaining schedule after the ASB… and just fucking gave up. This team just did not care after July.

Injures were a major factor… but the lack of fight in the back half of the season was the real killer.

  11. Luis Guillorme also went on the IL

Jose Urquidy was non-tendered because of injury

JP France missed a lot of time and then went to AAA but would’ve been a regular starter if he were healthy

  12. And we still make the playoffs easily if Framber is even replacement level after the trade deadline.

  13. You would think they would get Yordan a better or private conditioning coach. Other large hitters don’t seem to have a Lemon type of injury history.

  14. I don’t get how people are blaming Espada or Dana when this team was so clearly running at half strength the whole season

  15. Any idea the average WAR lost due to injury in any given season? 18 is A LOT but what is typical to expect for WAR lost to the IL?
