🔴LIVE 🔴Los Angeles Angels vs Houston Astros Game Highlights (9/26/25) | MLB /MLB THE SHOW 25

just about ready to go. And on the mound now, Ryan Zephr John and Singy, that may be his name, but the strikeout is his game. Well, Boo, I can tell you’ve been working on that one, but yes, you are right. This guy strike out for nine over 11. I mean, that’s just getting it done. There are a lot of strikeouts in that other lineup, and when you look at what he’s able to do, man, it’s going to be a fun one to watch today. There’s a swing and a drive. over the wall and that’s an automatic double. Well, there’s something really nice about getting yourself an automatic double like that. You get to stroll into second base without having to worry about a throw or getting your uniform dirty. And now you’re just looking for the next hitter to kind of do the same thing. Maybe put one in the gap so you can jog home as well. Stepping in Isach Paradis and the first pitch misses for ball one. Altuve at second with nobody out. That one ripped. That’s back. Say goodbye to that one. He sends it out of here. His 21st of the year. And just like that, they’re out front. It’s two nothing. He absolutely feasts on right-handed pitching. and devours that one for a homer. And you can see that’s what he expects of himself at bat after at bat. He’s that confident. Power versus power right there. Like two locomotives colliding. Who’s going to win? Well, a really good job there by the hitter getting the top hand working. Powers that fast ball out of here. Here’s Carlos Koreah. [Applause] Just missed. Can be tough to bounce back after a big home run, but nobody on, nobody out. You just have to treat it as a fresh inning. Sing maybe some nerves getting the best of him in the first. Well, it’s hard to know exactly if it’s nerves or not, but he just doesn’t have it right now. Those hitters on the other side, they’re going to say it’s nerves and use that as a competitive edge to try to jump on him even more. One of the things with Koreah, the impact he makes, not just on offense, but defense as well, a guy who’s won a platinum glove as the best defender in the American League. Probably my favorite note though on Carlos Koreah. He likes to before games go to a regular old batting cage and take BP with his dad. Vic Keratini at the plate. The other way and foul ball. Still only one out here in the inning. Not close with that one. And it’s one and one. Went for the sweeper, but it misses. Last couple of pitches breaking balls away. I think he’s going to have to come firm inside to be able to open up that location if he wants to go back there later in this count. Next pitch is outside. First pitch strike from the pitcher, but then no panic at all by the hitter. Very patient, showing good discipline. Now he’s in the driver’s seat with a 3-1 count. Next offering is in for a strike. Line drive, base hit. So, a man aboard now with one away. Hitting is really easy for some guys. One thing that I can see already, his bat stays in the zone on plane for an extended period of time. And guys like that, they have a high contact rate and they have more barrels because of that bat being on plane. And even when you don’t get it great, it’s still hit hard enough to dunk something in like that in front of the center fielder. Man, at first one away. [Applause] swings and misses. Struck him out. Now it’s the right fielder, Jesus Sanchez. [Applause] Oh, he doesn’t get the call. One and0. [Applause] in there for a strike at the top of the zone. Out there on the mound, he’s setting the tone early with the fast ball. 98 mph up on the scoreboard. [Applause] In the air, left field, down the line, and that is a foul ball. [Music] Two outs in the air, left field. Taylor coming on, snags it on the run, and that’ll do it. But two come across to score in the inning, courtesy of this two-run homer. And it’s two zip back here at Angel Stadium. And today’s starting pitcher, JP France singing. He’s kind of a road warrior. Yeah, I definitely say so. You know, some guys shrink a little bit on the road. They’re so used to just, you know, having the comforts of being at home and having the fans behind them, but this guy seems to thrive in adversity and being in some hostile environment. So, when you have a player like this on your team that goes out there and competes, you definitely like your chances away from your home ballpark. Nolan Showell leading things off and takes a strike. One strike. The pitch in the air out towards left center. Trel calls it in and there’s one away. All right, let’s take a look at the Angels lineup. One guy leading the way offensively for this club right now, Joe Adell. And Boo, he’s their team leader in home runs. So, you know, the pitchers on that other side, man, they took a lot of time preparing for him in that pregame meeting. You know, he’s got a lot of pop and it’s real pop. It’s not fluky at all. He can absolutely change the outlook of a game very quickly. So, watch out when he steps in. That’s to third. Throw to first in time. Batting third. Third baseman. Yan. Here comes Yan Mona. And takes low for ball one. Two out. Space is empty. Swinging a foul back. That’s out of play. Ball two. That one fouled off. Two and two. swing and a miss. Struck him out and it’s a three up, three down inning. Angels go quietly there. They trail it here. Two nothing. Top of the second. And here’s the rookie center fielder, Zack Cole. Zack Cole. Zephr job. a 65 righty 27 years old and they went out and made a trade for him last season. First pitch misses Zephr job. He’s known to have exceptional stuff. The strikeout number is usually way up there. However, he does have some issues with walks from time to time. Off the mark there and it’s 2 and 0. And because of that, the pitch count can get high and not consistently deep into the ball games like you would expect for a guy who can get so many swings and misses. And it’s about controlling that stuff, right? I mean, he’s got to harness all of that electric stuff and keep it at least somewhat in the strike zone. Yeah. I’d say a guy like this sometimes needs to simplify the repertoire. Instead of trying to throw three and four pitches, just stick with two pitches that are very effective. Perhaps you can keep the pitch count down, get yourself deeper into the ball game. Batting eight left. Here’s Taylor. And the sweeper is in for a strike. One out. Base is empty. Ball one. Joe McDonald, our umpire behind the dish. Yeah, Boo. Joey Mack. Sometimes a little tough to figure out. We may see some hitters and pitchers asking him where a pitch was here or there, but most of the time he keeps it reasonable. One down, base is empty. That one not close. And a count. Two and one. Swinging a foul straight back. Two and two. Gets a piece there. We’ll do it again. That one missed. Really good take especially with two strikes. Worm burner into the outfield for a knock. So they get a man aboard with a one out single. Well, a swing like that can help you come out of the struggle. We saw the numbers coming into the ball game, but all he’s trying to do at this point is help his team win. Here’s Mauricio Dubon. There’s the strike. runner. Here comes the pitch. Runner breaks for second. Swinging a miss. Throw to second and he’s out. Usually when you see a team try to steal a base in the early innings, it tells you they want to be aggressive on offense. Try to force the defense to make plays and slow them down. That’s exactly what they did right there. So, we’ll see if that caught stealing changes the offensive approach moving forward. Out towards right center field has this one sized up. Makes the grab and that’s the inning. back in Anaheim. And now it’s going to be Joe Adele. Chris, it’s been a good year for him, having already set a new careerh high for RBI’s in a season. And that’s through there for a strike 0 and one. just missed swing and a chopper out to short. Dubon to first lead off man retired here in the second. Left fielder Chris Taylor. Here comes Chris Taylor. And that one hammered. That’s back there and caught on the warning track. Not quite enough behind that one. That’s just a really nice catch on the run right there. He saved extra bases for sure. If the pitcher’s his friend, he’ll give him a second to catch his breath before he’s ready to deal the next pitch. He swings and fouls one off ball. No. Hard grounder into the outfield for a knock. And that keeps the inning alive. Batting seventh, second baseman Christian. Christian Moore. The next to hit for the Angels. Swinging a foul out of play. Swinging a foul straight back. One, two. This one in the dirt. [Applause] Swing in a liner. Base hit out into right center field. Coming home. And he’s out. Cut down. And that ends the inning. Textbook defensive execution right there. Outfielder hits the cut off man. Relay throw to the plate. A perfect strike and a great way to end the inning. Top half of the third inning. Here’s the Astros leadoff man, Jose Altuve. Altuve officially joined the 2000 hit club in 2023 with every career hit as a Houston Astro. Third player in club history with 2,000 hits and 200 home runs. It’s Jeff Bagwell, Craig Bio. Those are the two others. And that’s some great company, Boo. Line drive. And that’s a fair ball. Wasting no time. He’s two for two now on the night. And just a triple and home run away from the cycle. Seriously, we’re starting with this already. Now Isach Paredus. Here goes the runner. Fouled off left side. [Applause] And that one is inside ball one. Boo. He never moved cuz he never had time to. With that kind of velocity, you’d prefer that pitcher work away. swings and misses. Went for the sweeper. See if you can go upstairs a little bit. Make sure you miss up and out of the zone since you’re heading to count one, two, don’t miss in the zone cuz that’s where you get hurt. Got him looking. He’s notched four strikeouts now. Boom. He was chopping at the buckle right there. The way that slider made him look, that was just nasty. And here comes Carlos Kareah. He was a strikeout victim his first time. Top of the zone and it’s called a strike. Activity in the bullpen. Brock Burke appears to be getting loose. Dana the right-hander also getting loose. Now the on the ground right side and it gets by him. still finds a way to get off a throw and the throw’s offline. Safe at third. Now batting catcher. Here comes the skipper and we’re going to see a pitching change in this spot. Ryan Zephr John gives way. Not what they were hoping for from the opener. So we’ll see a new arm on the mound when we get back. Now pitching gets the call from the pen. Just trying to keep this one close here. And this is where a bullpen can give their players a chance to fight back into the game. Two on, one out. And now the switch in catcher, Victor Keratini. One for one with a single so far. And a first pitch fast ball is in for a strike. Lefty out of the stretch. Runners at first and third. And a foul ball. Altuve at third. Koreah over at first. So on. He goes down looking. Well, you got to be ready to swing the bat with a runner in scoring position and two strikes. Just put the ball in place somewhere and you got a chance. Very frustrating for him, I’m sure. See if the next guy can pick him up. [Applause] And now it’s Christian Walker. I’m curious how he decides to attack on the mound. This guy at the plate has been great hitting under pressure this year. And that is out of play. Corners are occupied with two down. Tapped at the plate, but it’s a foul ball. And ball one. One, two. in there. Got him looking and that one split the plate. Two left on. We move on to the bottom of inning number three. It’s the Astros two and the Angels nothing. And welcome back to the ballpark. Now it’s the shortstop number 13. Stop number 13. France back to work. Pulls that one foul. Fast ball in for a strike. And the count is 0 and two. That’s towards center. One away. Batting night. Center fielder. And now the center fielder singing. You got to appreciate a guy who’s this good defensively. I mean, watching him track balls in the outfield, it is beautiful. So, how much does his speed factor into his ability to go get it? It’s heartbreaking for the hitter because off the bat he thinks this ball’s going to get down because of that speed and the ability to make up so much ground. He enters the picture and breaks a guy’s heart. Swinging a miss that one in the dirt. There’s one guy that I can think about, Boo, who started as a third baseman, Alex Gordon, and then became an elite perennial goal glover out in left field for the Kansas City Royals. But he’s a guy when you watch him play, you would imagine that that’s all he ever played in his life was the outfield. Showwell at the plate and takes high there. You want to be patient here. Try to work a walk if you can. You’ve got a big power bat behind you in the on deck circle and with two outs, one swing could put you right back in this ball game. Highfly ball out into left center field. He makes the grab and that is that. Nothing doing here this half. Three innings complete. It’s the Astros two and the Angels nothing. And we’re back. John Shami with Chris Singleton. And set to lead off the fourth, Jesus Sanchez. And the first pitch misses for ball one. And that one clips the corner. swaying and a miss and that is strike two. Good late sink on that fast ball out of the hand. Looks so good. And then by the time he gets in the hitting zone, hard to get the barrel to it. Foul ball still a one and two count. I wouldn’t throw him another breaking ball. Try to go again with a fast ball slightly elevated. He just having a hard time catching up. Knocks that one away and will do it again. And they’ll do it again. Also really good at bat. What I like about this guy, his bat stays in the zone for a long time. Gives him the ability to foul off tough pitches. just off the outside part of the plate. [Applause] Fans another and that’s three straight strikeouts. He had him out in front which isn’t easy to do against a hitter like this known for using the entire field. Just couldn’t sit back long enough on that one. [Applause] Cole takes a ball as he stands in for the second time. Base is empty, one away. Top half of inning number four. Grounds one to short. Two quick outs here in the top of the fourth. Up next for the Astros, left fielder Taylor Trmell. And now Taylor Trmell and he’s already singled in this game. There’s the strike. [Applause] [Music] [Applause] And that one clips the corner. No balls. Two strikes. [Applause] Sharp grounder that’s through for a base hit and that keeps the inning going. Up next for the Astros. Now here is Mauricio Dubon 0 for one with a fly out to center and then misses off the outside edge. Trel off of first with two away. This one chopped up the middle. And that is that. No runs, one hit, no errors, and a man left. And midway in the fourth, it’s the Astros two and the Angels nothing. back here at Angel Stadium. Bottom of the fourth and now Mike Trout. Mike Trout. That’s off the mark. And that’s ball one. He really committed to that fast ball up at the top of the zone. and he knows that if he makes a mistake in the zone, it gets hit hard by a power guy like this. That’s a nice miss right there. That’s down and in. Well, usually a high level of confidence when you’re facing a young pitcher out there on the mound in this situation ahead 20. He’s put himself in a really good spot. This ball’s chopped on the ground and that one handled to first. One out in the bottom of the fourth. Now batting third baseman Yan. And now Yan Mona struck out swinging his first time and a pop off right side. Foul territory. He’s there. He’s got it. And there are two down. Got the pitch that he wanted. Just a little bit quick. Front shoulder open. Backside collapsed a little bit and the launch angle not where he needed it to be. Here’s Joe Adel. Grounded out his first time. Right through there for a strike. Boo. Over 80% of his first pitches are strikes. You’re doing that, you could have a really good day out there on the mound. And that is cut on and missed. And it’s nothing at two. Another O2 count right here. Pitcher just in the driver’s seat. and he can get a swing and a miss. That retires the side and that’ll do it. No runs, no hits, no errors. We’re headed to the fifth. It’s the Astros two and the Angels nothing. Now pitching for So the Angels turn to their bullpen for a new pitcher, Luis Garcia. Pretty tight game, so they’re looking for quality pitches out of him right here. got to do his best to keep the score right where it is. So, back to the top of the order. Leading off, Jose Altuve. Jose Alt. And that one fouled off. [Music] [Applause] [Music] Next one is off the plate and it’s a ball and a strike. [Applause] And that’s downstairs and outside. Ground ball up the middle. That’s a base hit. So, a runner aboard to start the inning. That’s back to back singles for him. Just kept it simple. Played pepper with the middle of the infield and took it back where it came from and there was just no one there to knock it down. Next is the designated hitter, Isak Paredus. He’s already homerred here in this one. And there’s a base hit to left. Throw back in quickly. First and second now with nobody out. Two consecutive base hits for this team. Pretty tough for the infielders to do anything with that one. He pulled it hard into the outfield. And even when you keep it on the ground, it feels great when you hit a missile like that. First and second, no outs now. Koreah up to hit. One for two. That one’s in there. Strike one. Well, these Astros doing a good job of putting the ball into play and that makes things more challenging on the defensive side. Despite having nine hits in the game, the numbers don’t exactly jump off the page in terms of exit velocity. Nearly half have been traveling less than 90 miles per hour off the bat, but they’re finding a way to get it done. And there’s a base hit to right field. They won’t test it here. Base is loaded, no outs. That’s three singles in a row. Really good swing right there. You got a pitch that he knew he could handle. allowed himself to stay back just a tad bit longer and he hit the ball on the screws. Now the base is loaded. Big opportunity for them to break this game open. And here now is the Astros cleanup hitter, Victor Keratini. Golden opportunity right here. Little chopper rolls foul. [Applause] Tap foul at the plate. They need a strike out and you need a ball perhaps on the ground for a double play or get yourself a popup something. But you got to make some pitches. But if he can in the air left field down the line brings it in with a nice running grab and there’s one down. Well, it was a bad read off the bat, but he still managed to make the catch. That could have turned out much worse. Catch saved him a run. Christian Walker up next for the Astros, who’s 0 for two with a pair of strikeouts. [Applause] The last thing he wants is to hit the ball on the ground, but I wouldn’t expect many pitches up in the zone. They’ll be pitching for a double play in this spot. [Applause] Fast ball for a strike at 95. Not sure exactly what he was thinking there. Good sinker ball pitcher. Goes with a fast ball in a double play situation when he needs something on the ground. [Applause] The one-1 gets the swing and a miss with the sweeper. One ball, two strikes. Breaking ball in there. Got him looking. Huge strike out there. Third time he struck out in this one. And definitely an individual performance you want to flush. He just hasn’t looked very comfortable up there. Just one of those days. But when you’re still winning the ball game, at least you can focus on doing your part to maintain that lead and getting that W. At the plate, Jesus Sanchez misses outside and it’s one and0. Two outs. Pitch misses there. And now two and 0. Pressurees on right here. 20 count. Base is loaded. You don’t want to fall to a three ball count and then walk in or on. He’s got to challenge the hitter right here. That’s off the mark and it’s three and0. In situations like these, the air can get really thin up there at the plate. Got to find a way to breathe and slow everything down. [Applause] Strike two. And there’s a real chance they get out of this without allowing a run. Chopped on the ground. Sends it to first. out to escape a bases loaded jam unscathed. Astros leave them loaded. They’re up two nothing. [Applause] Back in Anaheim, here comes Chris Taylor. [Applause] And the pitch is outside. Ball one. Action in the pen down there. Danielle de los Santos getting loose out there. Valdez the power lefty up as well. Swinging at a highf fly ball that’s out to center. Cole pulls it in for the out and there’s one down. Now batting catcher Logan Ohappy now at the plate. A single his first time. Boo. This batter gets described as a homebody because he loves playing at home. And historically, his numbers back it up. And that one just misses a ball and no strikes. And that drops in for a strike. Not sure if he could be in more of a groove. Looks really relaxed. He’s retired seven straight. This guy’s feeling it right now. The one-1 is fouled off. One down, base is empty. Pitch is in the dirt and the count is even. Two and two. Two strike. Fast ball is outside. Lifted in the air left field. Pretty well struck. Tal settles underneath it. Two away now. Up next for the Angels. Now it’s the second base, Christian Moore. Doubled his first time up. Right through there for a strike. 01. And that’s outside. And now it’s even one and one. That was the sweeper, but it missed. Looks like he’s being a little cautious with him in this at bat after doubling the first time up. Doesn’t want to make another mistake. Oh, he doesn’t get the call. And that’s ball three. A rare three ball count here. He’s been throwing strikes all day. Got to be ready to hit if you’re in the box, bounced to the right side, sends it to first. That’s the third out. Angels held in check. They’re still down. It’s two zip. Now pitching for they bring a young arm out of the bullpen in this spot. Kayton Dana. He’s been so good against lefties. Dana. Here’s the center fielder Zack Cole. 0 for two in this one. Zack Cole. That one inside. And that is ball one. And that’s through there for a strike. One-1. [Applause] That misses the zone and it’s two and one. Check swing. He went too far and it’s a strike. That one misses. Three and two now. Taps softly to the right side. A flip to the pitcher cover. And that’s one out as they get the lead off hitter in the six. Taylor. And next to hit for Houston, Taylor Trmelll. He’s two for two. Just off the inside edge. [Music] [Applause] Next offering is fouled back. to the right side and he grabs it in foul ground. One down, base is empty. Bows it back with two strikes. One and two here. Goes down looking. Frustrating end to the at bat for the hitter. And I’m sure that’s going to sit on for a little while. You want to be ready to hit the fast ball. Sometimes you can overthink things and I think that was the case right there. Two down, base is empty. Mauricio Dubon up next for the Astros. Fast ball for a strike. Four and one. Look out and it hit him. Now batting second base. Here’s the former MVP Jose Altuve. Three for three with two singles and a double. No matter what you’re playing this kind of rival, take your game to another level. Top of the zone for a cold strike. Fast ball for a strike. That’s good pitch there. Had some run and finished little up and in just on the edge. And that’s one of those if you swing at it, had a broken back as you jog back to the dugout. And the one two misses to even the count. Dubong the runner at first with two gone. The kick and the pitch. Runner goes. There’s the ball. Save at second. And that was not close. Yeah, I like being aggressive right there with two outs. It’s kind of a classic steel situation. You get thrown out, no big deal. That guy at the plate leads off the next inning. Now a single to the outfield can push a run across man at second. Swings through that and it’s a strikeout. That ends the frame. So it’s no runs on no hits, no errors and one left. 891 scheduled in the bottom of the sixth. It’s the Astros two and the Angels nothing. And welcome back to the ballpark. Bottom of the sixth inning and the batter down number 13. The short stop number 13 France back to work. Close one. Doesn’t get the call. Ball one. Movement in the bullpen. Brian Abrau the closer getting cranked up for a possible save opportunity. pitches in for a strike and it’s one and one. That’s a strike across the top of the zone. Next offering upstairs. Just not taking the bait right there, but a good pitch with two strikes. And a rope into center field base hit. And that’ll bring the tying run to the plate. Now batting center. And now the center fielder struck out swinging his first time. Double play ball to second. Acrobatic throw for one to first. Not in time. Great effort there. That play won’t be trending on social media later on, but it’s still important to execute it to perfection. This game is a lot harder than it looks. Partner ball off foul. Now, this team is definitely looking for a big swing of the bat right here. Try to close that gap. But, you know, at the very least, if you can find a way to manufacture that run from first, it feels like it’s really important getting back into this ball game. And there are two outs. And now batting Mike Trout is grounded out a couple of times. Trout [Applause] just missed. Well, if he’s going to steal second, you want him to go early in the count. That way, he’s not a distraction to the hitter at the plate. Go ahead and get it out of the way so the hitter can focus on the pitch. Tying run at the plate. Right through there for a strike. Two balls, one strike. And there’s the ball. Oh, they have had a hard time scoring in this one. The pitcher out there on the mound wants to keep attacking, make sure that they don’t get any confidence. So, now two on and two outs. Well, this could be the start of something. They haven’t found a way to score yet, but now’s their chance to change that. Here is Mata. Ball one there. [Applause] Down the middle for a strike and a count even. One and one. Oh, this guy on the mountains done a lot better than we would have expected and the hitters just don’t seem to have the right game plan. They’re taking too many mistake pitches for called strikes. First and second, two down. [Applause] Pitch misses and the count’s even at two. On the ground to first, Walker. He takes it himself to the bag and that’ll do it. Angels strand a couple. They trail things here. Two nothing. We go to the top of the seventh. Now it’s the DH Isak Paredes. And the first offering a fast ball for a strike. Activity in the bullpen for the Angels. Number 68, the rookie right-hander is getting loose. Number 70, a left-hander also throwing [Applause] left field way back there. Going back on the war in track and hauls it in. Just pulled off of it a little bit right there. That front shoulder coming over instead of staying closed. If he does that, he’s going to be able to go up the middle the other way with some authority instead of a fly out to left. Kareah in now takes ball one off the plate. Base is empty, one away here in the top half of inning number seven. And another ball. He hasn’t wanted to challenge him. Both of those pitches off the plate away. Don’t expect anything down the heart of the play. You may just have to be patient and take your walk here. One down, base is empty. There’s a strike and it’s two and one now. Two-1. [Applause] Ground ball left side and it goes just foul. Swinging a high-fly ball right field, hauls it in and there’s two away. Victor, two out, space is empty. Victor Keratini the next to hit. [Applause] Close one. doesn’t get the call. Ball one. Chopped left side. Mona on to first. Third out. That ends the frame. So they go quietly there midway in inning number seven. And it’s time to stretch. It’s the Astros two and the Angels nothing. So they turn to their closer, Brian Abrau. And we all know about his slider. It’s just filthy, man. And one of the better ones in the game, I’d say. Spin rate’s very high and it just breaks a ton. Now it’s the DH for the Angels. Joe Adele. Desated hitter, Joe Adele. [Applause] first off and it just misses. [Applause] Swings through that one for strike one. Pitching has been pretty dominant in this one, but you got to be careful not working with too big a lead. They could get right back in this ball game if you’re not careful. [Applause] on the ground and that’s just fouled. [Applause] Hard hit left side. Fires over to first and one away in the bottom of the seventh. If you want to be a great defense, you have to deliver consistently. It doesn’t matter how many highlight reel plays you make if you can’t execute the small stuff. Just like we saw. Here comes Chris Taylor. Popped up foul territory behind the plate. Keratini hauls it in for the out. And there’s two down. That was a good pitch to hit right down the heart of the plate. Had pretty good timing on it. Just got underneath it a little bit and popped it up. Angels down to their final out. Here’s the Angels catcher. Logan O’Hap. He has singled and he has flyed to left. Ground ball to short. This ought to do it. Throw to first. Out ball game. And the Astros claim the win here behind some great pitching and defense. Sometimes road trips can be tough. You’re away from your family. But when you can win, silence that opposing crowd. It makes things just a little bit better. Makes the road trip just a little bit shorter. Two nothing your final here in this one for Chris Singleton and our entire crew. I’m John Shami saying so long
