[EDIT: Solved in record time, Marty Marion! This further proves what I tell everyone here in Braves Country where I live, Cardinals fans are the best!!]
My dad turns 80 next year and I came across a signed photo to give him of Enos Slaughter’s famous “Mad Dash” that put the Cards ahead to win game 7 in the 1946 World Series (year he was born). It just arrived. I’ve read all about the play and the series, but haven’t been able to find anything that mentions who the Card standing with the two bats near home plate was. It looks like Musial to me one minute, the next I’ve convinced myself it’s not. Dad’s already got some good Musial stuff from growing up in STL, but it might add a little something special if every kid’s favorite player was also in this gem 😃.
At any rate, I’m just real curious and appreciate it if anybody knows for sure who it is?
Thanks!

Marty Marion was on deck. It would make sense for it to be him. A batboy wouldn’t be carrying 2 bats.
It’s Marty Marion, he was on deck
Thirded for Marion: https://www.baseball-almanac.com/players/pics/marty_marion_autograph.jpg
Who’s the other signature on the photo?
What’s weird about the photo is, “What the hell was Marty standing there for?? Shouldn’t he be behind home plate with no bats signaling Enos to slide??”
