Good season idgaf

  1. We had us some fucking moments this season, yes the fuck we did. Salvy hitting 300 HR/1000 RBI was awesome. The 20-1, +24 hit differential against the AL-leading Blue Jays was a Friday night for the ages (literally hadn’t seen a hit differential that big since 1900).

Could things have gone better at times? Could we have made the postseason under better circumstances? Perhaps. But all told, it was still a winning season, we have some very interesting young pieces and a core that looks quite solid. Gotta keep moving forward next season though.

(Sherman, give us a Black Monday tomorrow—we want Zumwalt fed to the wolves, and I ain’t talking KC Wolf either!!)

  2. We finished with a winning record despite all or most of our starting rotation missing a decent chunk of the season at various points. Some points with 3 down at the same time.

We get a corner outfield bat, Cags gets considerably better, and get better health from our SP and we have a decent playoff team next season

  3. Yeah, while I do think that us not following up on a playoff season with another one was disappointing, however winning seasons are hard to come by for this franchise. I was 6, almost 7 when we won the first series in ‘85 and 36 when we got the 2nd one. However, since 1990, we have 8 winning seasons and 3 playoff appearances total. That’s 8/36 seasons above .500. Just above .220 if it were a batting average. No bueno! So, while I was one of the people who thought we underachieved this season, I’m also happy we’re playing winning baseball. Really excited for next season though!

  4. We finished worse this year, but I’m actually more optimistic about the future now than I was last year. We got carried hard by a historic SS season, multiple dark-horse pitching signings working out huge, and a frankly unsustainable level of RISP hitting.

Last year, I was really worried that there would be a huge collapse, which turns out to have been warranted given how this season ended. However, this season is as much a floor as last year was a ceiling.

I think this team can make it next year without any crazy luck, and that’s more than could be said of either this year’s or last year’s teams.
