Bradley Chubb, Dante Trader Jr., and more meet with the media | Miami Dolphins

Was there a hunger in you considering what you went through? Yeah, for sure, man. Just like I said, being out for a year and a half is never fun. You know, I mean, watching from the sidelines, seeing all your guys ball and do their thing. Um, so, you know, just being back able to be back out there. Um, I told guys at the beginning of the camp, they thought I was crazy. Like, I was most hungry for like just to get out there and be tired with guys, like go through the hard days and like be be like dog tired, but come in here and laugh about it and, you know, and I feel like I’ve been full in that aspect. So, now it’s just about making plays. Let me ask you a style question if I can ask Michael jail about the unis at the the third uniform. Have you seen them? What do you think? I’ve seen them. I love them. Uh I think they’re the deep blue or pitch blue is what they called. I think those those things are hard, man. I’m excited to wear them Monday night. Um you know, and we got to we got to do good in them so we can keep wearing them. Jaylen said he would like to have seen us maybe a streak of pink Miami Vice. Nah, man. I like them how they come. I like them how they came, man. They did a good job with them. I know he was talking about he wanted the Miami Vice look, but I like I like them how they are. You were one of the models. Yeah, that look good. I don’t know. They just showed the back. It’s all good, man. The other picture’s going to drop. The other pitch going to drop. Y’all going to see that that that pitch blue is slimming. So, I look good in it for sure. What do you think about this week coming together and you got guys coming in? What do you think about the guys, man? Uh I I love the guys they added. love the guys that, you know, unfortunately we had to to let go of, but we brought him back on Peace Squad with one of my favorites is DMAC. The energy he brings into our outside linebacker room and then to see his growth from starter camp to now and it’s just going to keep growing. And then um that’s how we signed Greg Dosich to the practice squad. That’s somebody who uh I was there in Denver his rookie year. He said his locker was right next to mine. So, we kind of built a little bond over the time. And when you add guys like Rul Douglas and and uh I just saw I just met Mike the running back not too long ago. um you know just all the additions we make in that DB room and in our room as well. It’s going to be fun. I’m excited. Who’s the most talkative with you in terms of pointing out things they see uh to help you or film any film review tape among the veteran? I got a lot of uncles in my room. I call them all uncles. So they all help me evenly. I appreciate every single one of those guys and everybody in our room from the coaches to the players helped me in terms of you know help me get to the playing speed I need to. What’s been the experience like with Minka? Uh he’s great man. and he’s very instinctual, very a great teammate. So open arms like you if you ask you shall receive with with MA. So anything that he does on the film on the field I try to go ask or he’ll help me if it’s from my footwork in Indie to a play on the field he allows himself to take himself out of his focus to help me. So I appreciate Maker for that. What was your reaction when you found out you would be playing with him when that happened? So if you ask a lot of safeties especially around my age who they you know watch in college or like in the league, they’re going to say the same couple safeties. So most of them are going to say Minka. So being having the ability to play with Minka, I knew like, oh, y’all done y’all done messed up because I’mma drain this drain this resource and ask every day be that sponge, be the annoying little brother that I couldn’t be to help me get to where I need to be. That that was why he number 29 in college. Yeah. Yeah. Everybody watched M from Alabama to when he got drafted here to the Steelers. So he’s just a great dude. Tell me. Well, I mean, for me, um, having to get the back surgery last year at the end of the year and not being able to finish it the way I wanted to, uh, it was different, you know, going to Philly this this off seasonason and really being able to lift, be around NFL training staff to allow my back to rehab and to really feel what I needed to feel to see if this is what I wanted to do was big for me. I mean, it was part of the process. So, now that clearly I stand before you and in the space that we’re standing in, it’s good to see you again. So, yes, sir. I was going to say if you wouldn’t have wanted if it wasn’t in you, you would you’re the type of guy that Oh, no doubt, my friend. I mean, you got to think about it from my standpoint. I mean, I’ve been blessed to do this for a long time. And if I can’t do it to a certain extent the way the way I need to, then I mean, I have no no problem moving forward with my lady and start starting the life. So, I mean, it’s it’s it’s it’s great to be here. It’s great to, you know, help the team once again and, you know, it’s a blessing for sure. Having you said that, coming back to what you’ve come back to, you see a lot of young guys on that line that are pretty impressive. Oh, for sure. Uh, I mean just even watching their practice yesterday on film getting in here. It’s you can see the attention to detail. You can see, you know, they’re implementing what we try to do here, putting, you know, new wrinkles in with with new personnel. You’re going to sit there and have to do new things just to learn everybody. But, I mean, it’s impressive. You can definitely see uh the kid that we brought in here from Arizona. I mean, yeah, like you can see it. You can see it right away. You can see Pat Paul taking steps. Um, I mean, but you know as well as I do, we’ve been around this a long time. the more experience you get in our league, especially when you’re around the coaches, you’re around your teammates, just allows you to get better each and every time. So, it’s been fun to watch. Yes, sir. First practice back, you just pick up right where you left off. Like Butch Barry, he already knows you. It’s not like any kind of acclamation. Oh, well, I mean, don’t get me wrong, you the terminology, you sit there and hear it again. I mean, I’ve had what, four or four teams now that I’ve been on. So, like from my perspective, I’m going have to go home, of course, this weekend, look at the notebook, see the terms again. But for me, the recall is not bad. I mean, just it’s learning the personnel, learning the people you’re beside, but I mean, like you say, I’m familiar with this place, so it’s not it’s not too bad. Yes, sir. A lot of people have talked about how different this team is compared to last year. I know it’s early, but what are some of those cultural or or you know, practice differences? Yeah. Well, to be real with you, ma’am, I’m not the type to ever BS you and just tell you something to tell you. I haven’t been here long enough to see that. Um, I can tell you though just from what I can see within, you know, the vibe of the team and things in general, I mean, they seem very very close here. Um, they seem, you know, whatever was take was done during training camp. I know the joint practices against different teams were huge, but you can definitely see, I mean, there there’s not to say necessarily a hierarchy of leadership, but you can tell people are starting to fall in line. Like people understand what it is. Like people understand this is professional football. Let’s do things the way we need to do them so we can accomplish what we need to accomplish. And that is nice to see. So, yes, ma’am. Had you been worried initially that it could be an extended time? Initially I was. Yes. But um fortunately that was not the case and uh yeah happy that wasn’t the case. Are you 100% back now physically? I’m getting there. I’m doing what I can to get back and um you know kind of uh whatever whatever they say I can do I’m doing every day. So on my way. Yeah. I mean, I’m just trying to get back as soon as possible for for the guys, you know, especially in training camp. Uh it’s a lot of reps on them. So, um the sooner I can get back, the more I can take off of them and uh the more I can uh do to help help win some football games. How did it feel? Real good. Yeah. Yeah. I mean, like a kid in a candy stop, you know. I’ve been uh shocked. Jesus. Um sitting out watching these guys like uh out the window, you know, watching all my friends play and have fun. Um, so it was it was nice to get back out there, get a get a little taste of it. The role that was described to you, I know last year they did make use of three safeties. Elijah, you got some snaps. Had you come here thinking that there would be playing time if you earn it, you know, as you did with the Jets consistently. Is that your expectation? Uh, just an opportunity to compete. I feel like I got that and uh going to continue to do that and see see whatever whatever unfolds whoever you know whoever or whatever they need me to do I’m I’m I’m I’m there to do that. So and without getting into exactly the body part I I would just ask you this did you get good news like on an MRI or an X-ray where there was a lower number of weeks? Uh yeah I’d say everything was was as positive as it could be given what you know the information that I had or thought I had um when I had went down. So uh yeah, definitely all good news.
