NHL Preseason Highlights | Panthers vs. Hurricanes – September 29, 2025

There you go. Luke Cunning starting at the center position with that new scoreboard here at Amar Bank Arena. We’ll tell you more about that. Cunning wears number 71. An NHL veteran. Hurricanes with an early chance. And that one caught a piece of the crossbar from Kevin Lango along with the veteran Jack Stoa because Evan Rodriguez little bit dinged up. It is highly precautionary. So Rodriguez okay may even play in the preseason later this week. Samuskevage puts it out in front and the backhander score. Dax Den on the feed from Mackey. Quick goal for the Florida Panthers in the first minute of the first period here in the perfect position. There he is. Now he goes to the front of the net. Has to play that puck off his skate to his stick and the backhander squeaks through. Here’s a better angle right there. Right through Anderson. Panthers on the board quickly. Second goal of the preseason for the veteran student. Stick there by Petri making his Panther debut on defense wearing number two. Here’s a point shot and Babroski the save on Montgomery. Lebang tried to get a shot away that never got to Babroski. Kane still in the offensive zone. Here’s a shot and Babroski will swallow that up and hang on for a whistle. Anderson popped out there and got a piece of Noah Greor. We saw that speed in the first meeting with Carolina a few days ago. Gregory fast pace here in this first period. These two teams are just snapping that puck around. Sorum is stopped by Babroski. Just brimming with confidence. He’s looked terrific in camp. Great save by Babroski. And then another one. And then a third save by Sergey Babroski. Oh, it’s pre-season, but Big Bob is in Stanley Cup final form. Couple of saves. There’s the original shot. Stretched out. There he is again. Then stretch the right pad out and deny Carolina from putting that puck in behind the goal line. Another look at it from a different angle. There it is. Look at how he’s able to recover and just squeak himself over and spread himself out. Oh, I would have been in four pieces. You know, when Sergey says, “I’ve got enough work.” I’m guessing that’s when the time will come. Well, that’s what I say to you. Yeah. When you’re done, let me know. And that’s it. I’ll meet you on the bus. He’s reluctant, but he realizes for the benefit of himself and the team. Greor shoots and hit the crossbar. Oh, Noah Greor let one fly and nearly got another preseason goal for himself. Second period. Greor caught the iron on the deflection. Down. Panthers go for a change. Approaching the midway point. Only goal came in the opening minute. Samoskevich with a nice assist. Here’s a chance in front. They score. Milis on a beauty on the back hand. [Music] You’re seeing speed right there. There’s the turnover. And here come the Panthers and they’ve got three going towards the net and the backhander Bill Manis finishes it off. Second consecutive goal by the Panthers on the backhander. They’ve got support from the forwards or whatever been able to cut those off and then turn back the other way. [Applause] Jo puts it out in front and they score. A good pass there by Jo and Nau with the finish and Carolina’s on the board. behind the Panthers defense. Watch right here in the left side of your screen. He’s got a step. Corrals that puck and makes a a a nifty move under pressure. Has to make that decision. Goes to his backhand and just over that right pad. Yeah, the dough. You know, we noticed him the other night, Randy, when the Panthers played in Carolina. He’s had a really good preeason. Very. They’ll give Francis Chiron the decision. And here’s the call to review. Play was offside prior to goal. We have no goal. We set the clock to 7:47. Thank you. They’re asking the fans to get in their seats early. Yeah, 100% on that one. There’s a shot and Smith finds the back of the net. It sneaks in and now Carolina’s made it a one-goal game. You see right here, kind of scrambled. Benning’s reaching for it. lost control and then Smith comes in and he wastes no time and shoots it on the short side of Black and it just you see goes right between the blocker and so we’ll start to get a look at the Lightning Chance here. Black makes a nice save on Jo [Applause] is held in. Nisha nice move and a shot and he scores and Carolina has quickly gotten this game even at two right off the inside post. [Music] He’s in in relief of Freddy Anderson in a two- two game. It’s Quap against Black the rest of the way. Katy Anglesen preseason calling us out on the air. See Randy and I will be happy to eat the fish. Here’s a chance for the Panthers and Quances that the Panthers have had in this game. There’s the puck just misplayed. Go to the backand snuffed out here at a different angle. Good steal there. Get me in. Boy, divine to Bjornfoot. Puff possession for the Panthers looking for a chance to reclaim their lead. Greor stopped by Qu [Applause] Harper through the body and there Suzuki. Panthers hold in. Here’s Harper shooting. Qu the save. The rebound is loose and wide. Panthers just had a terrific East final last year against the Hurricanes. remember going in there winning those first two games and then winning in five. Here come the Panthers. It’s Chorski all alone shooting. He scores a 32 lead. Brett Chorski. [Music] It’s a laser and it’s a beauty. Quick puck movement by the Panthers. You’re going to see right here as Carolina. They tried to make a change, but all forwards got caught. Puck turnover. Gorski just goes and puts it on the far side right off the post. It comes through everybody and Carolina’s going to get a twoon-one. Here’s Le Bank looking in front, shooting. Black made the save. Yeah, it’s good to see Black, you know, get get an opportunity tonight, Randy. We were really looking forward later in the week. We would assume anyway that we’ll see Denil Teras off again after that great performance, the 47 save effort in Carolina. Oh, and the Hurricanes answer back and score. Justin Roba has tied this game at three. There you see. Okay, the Panthers in pretty good position right here. And then the turnaround. Look at Yeah, it went through two or three players. There’s the shot. [Music] the game. The 20-year-old sends that around the boards. Foot and Dine after it. Divine’s got it. Handles in front and a save by Qu here. Foot just kicks it over. Here’s Dine. Comes in. Look at how he just freezes the defense as I mentioned. Gets the shot through. Here comes Cunning breaking in. Centering feed. It’s Greer. Stop made in front. uses the defense as a screen and then the followup off the rush finds its way right onto the stick of Greer and he just drills it right into the Sin wins it. Divine fires high over the net and we are going over time [Music] against the goalie Nikita Quap the 22-year-old German for the Hurricanes. Three straight power plays for the Panthers late in the game. Boowquist breaks in. Riley the veteran defenseman was with him. Boquist sets it up for Petri in the fouron three looking for a gamewinner. Petri holds. Stenika’s out in front. Petri for boquist. Here’s Samuskevich to the net. Scoops it back up. Petri out in front. Stika shoots. He scores. Jeff Sta sends him home with a winner. He’s got a couple of huge ones tonight. [Applause] Jack Tena with a power play goal to finish it here in overtime. His second of the night. Finding the open man. Look at Petri just slides it right into Sena. And he just flips it over a sprawling sprawling goalender. There it is. Another look. There’s the flip and the game-winning goal. [Music]

Jack Studnicka opened the scoring in the first minute of play before going on to score the overtime winner as Mackie Samoskevich provided two helpers to lead the Panthers to a 4-3 overtime win against the Carolina Hurricanes.

  1. Shame on you Florida! Youโ€™re back to back cup champs and canโ€™t even be bothered to support your team in the pre season. Thatโ€™s horrendous attendance by the Cats โ€œfansโ€

  2. Danggg, all 4 goals let in by Black were all easy shots that should been easy saves, and they were all on his short blocker side too. Yeah I think it's safe to say he's not NHL goalie calibre.
