So, Dallas is one, two, and one. And Dallas feels pretty good about themselves. The Packers are 21 and one, and they think the sky is falling. Take a deep breath, Green Bay fans. You are still for the third year in a row the youngest team in the NFL. in the last two weeks. Part of being young is you can’t figure out how to close out games against inferior teams. You just can’t figure it out. The Eagles, the Chiefs, the Rams, they got veterans. They close out those games. That playoff experience, that wisdom. Green Bay is crazy talented, but Matt Laflur isn’t the head coach. He’s a chaperone. This roster is full of 24, 25 year olds, and there’s not many great corners in the league. And let’s be honest, George Pickkins had a day. Uh, you know, you let go of your most talented corner to Baltimore, so you came in a little corner light. Micah Parsons did not help. Where’s the pass rush? I’m not seeing it. One sack. So, this was just two very comfortable quarterbacks. Jordan Love and Dak Prescott. And they, as they say, they they had six touchdowns, no picks. They had all day to throw. They were both comfortable. They completed 75% of their throws. And it’s the NFL. The Saints gave Buffalo in Buffalo trouble. The Chargers got whacked by Jackson Dart. 57yd field goals or chip shots. Every third kick is blocked. And yesterday in Dublin, Aaron Rogers looked 24 years old. So, it’s like it’s a it’s a this is what it is. The weather’s still very good. So, the offense is good. You can throw the ball down the field. It’ll get cold. Teams won’t be able to throw the ball down the field. Teams will be more injured. That was just two really good quarterbacks. Both were incredibly comfortable. And and Packer fans can be fatalists. It’s like you’re going to win the division. You had a bunch of bad teams coming up. Let’s be honest. You beat a Lions team with two new coordinators that was trying to find themselves and I got a little high on you and you did too. And then you beat the Commanders on a short week at home and Jaden Daniels wasn’t 100%. And then you play, you know, you’re feeling yourself. And then you play a couple teams and you’re you have a fourth quarter lead against Cleveland and you blow it. Jordan Love had a rare bad pick. And then last night your clock management wasn’t very good. But again, this is the youngest team in the NFL. Now you’ve got a stretch Packer fans where you face Cardinals, Panthers, Bengals. You could be 61 and one coming up and be fine. This is September football. It’s crazy. I can remember Ryan Fitzpatrick of the Bills years ago tearing up September and they gave him a huge contract. Weird stuff happens. Shawn Payeyton’s always been a bad September coach. So again, young team and this is the downside to young teams. Stoicism, temperament, poise. Green Bay still doesn’t have that. Green Bay got a little high on their supply and were lucky to settle for a tie. What am I, Bad Bunny? All I know is this. They’re good. They’re young. They’re talented. The coach, the quarterback, but but their temperament sometimes I’m not sure they understand the game has a clock, the management of it. Matt Laflur said after we’re just not there yet. I think anytime mistakes happen, it’s disappointing. Whether it’s year three with your group of guys or you got a rookie in there, it really doesn’t matter at the end of the day because nobody cares. Bottom line is you got to get it right. The operation was just way too slow. Like I don’t know if our guys didn’t know we were in two-minute or what, but ultimately the communication’s got to get better. Myself to Jordan, Jordan to the huddle. And that’s that’s the bottom line. For the record, I thought the Micah Parson’s deal I said Green Bay is pretty stacked. It’s a great roster. They don’t need a first round pick because they got their quarterback and they’ve got their they’ve got their weapons and they’ve got with Micah, they got a pass rush. So, they don’t need first round picks. They can get away with it for about two years. Uh but Micah hasn’t really delivered on the promise, right? Like overall not getting the quarterback enough. By the way, if you’re Dallas, you have to feel great this morning. Think about this. I’m Dallas. Everybody crapped on that that Micah trade. My take is the Cowboys are going into the next two drafts. They don’t need a quarterback and about eight to 10 teams do and now they got four first round picks and they could turn those into other second, third, fourth round picks. So Dak playing this well and the Cowboys even without CD Lamb moving the ball this well. Dallas is in a great spot. They have something they haven’t had in years. A healthy quarterback, two really good receivers when CD Lamb comes back. Yeah, they don’t have Micah, but they have four first round picks, which gives them unbelievable financial and draft flexibility. Dallas, I mean, I’m I’m Dallas. I’m watching last night and I’m like, you know how lucky they are that Dak is better postsurgery. I mean, they got a feel you guys all crushed the Micah Parsons move and I said, Micah is good for Green Bay. He’s what they need. Dallas is going to be fine. They’re going to be fine. They’re actually significantly better than I thought. So, just take a deep breath. Green Bay. Dallas feel pretty good. They should. I’m looking at the the Green Bay schedule now. I got at home against Cincinnati. By the way, Cincinnati plays tonight. It’ll be a short week. Arizona, you trust them. Carolina, get Philadelphia at home. Pittsburgh, a lot of W’s coming. Take a deep breath. All right, it is official. The Kansas City Chiefs are back and the Chiefs are in Lamar Jackson’s head. Lamar Jackson five for five on that first drive. The minute he got off script, Lamar Jackson was awful. Had a passer rating of 51. So Steve Spagnola has seen him so many times. My opinion, they got a little bit of a beat on him. He’s got 10 touchdowns and nine giveaways against Kansas City. And again, Achilles had his heel and Superman had his kryptonite. Everybody’s got somebody and I just think he struggles with him. And simultaneously, Lamar Jackson is struggling. I don’t want to hear about the defensive injuries. Everybody’s banged up. Minnesota barely could field an offensive line. I don’t want to hear about it. It’s Baltimore’s offense that worries me. Lamar doesn’t work against Kansas City. They faced him so many times they’re in his head. And simultaneously, Uh-oh. Uh-oh. I said to J-Mack last week, just get Xavier Worthy back. He’s a deep threat. He’ll open up the stuff underneath. That’s exactly what happened. Juju Smith Shuster still making plays. Xavier Worthy’s not a number one, but he opens up opportunities for guys underneath. They have a chance now to get back to the Super Bowl if they can develop any kind of run game. The defense is excellent. The coaching’s the best in the league. And Momes, good lord, he’s still got it. So, and and Xavier Worthy is all they need. In about four weeks, they’re going to get Rashi Rice back because Travis Kelce you can no longer count on. He’ll he’ll show up to the big games, but you’ve got to get Rashi Rice and Worthy. The O line’s getting a little bit better, but I feel like Kansas City’s a bacteria that is resistant to antibiotics. And it’s like the league had a chance to wipe them out and now Kansas City is going to cough on everybody and pick up wins. You had a chance. There was a window. Here they were. And I don’t know, Rasheed Rice in three weeks. I watched that passing game yesterday and I’m like, yeah, I know there’s injuries, but it’s fine. Worthy gives him a deep threat that will open it up for Rasheed Rice and Guju Smith Schustster. So, you’ll have a one, a gadget guy number two, and a three and Travis Kelce be good in big games. And the other hallmark of the Chiefs is they don’t beat themselves. They had one turnover this year. Eagles don’t Eagles, Kansas City, and Buffalo. They just don’t turn the ball over. So I I think you got to feel I feel like Kansas City watching that game I don’t feel I’m overreacting. It does take time. You can’t go into a game without worthy and Rasheed Rice and an older Travis Kelce and no run game. You got to give them something. They I at the trade deadline they have to consider an upgrade either O line or run game. But I I think you come out of this thing they’ve worked very hard. Worthy mattered. rice around the corner and uh Kansas City’s back. Here’s Patrick. We’ve been working extremely hard and we want to have success and um we’ve been just making little mistakes here and there and that causes frustration, but at the same time, we’ve been learning from him and um we we’ll learn from this game. With um Xavier being back, it’s just that threat of being able to win over the top. It’s scary for defenses when they’re going to bring pressure knowing that you can get it to that guy short or deep and then he can make plays happen. Um and so we had good answers. There’s a couple here and there that I think I could have been better on um as far as some of my answers, but overall I thought we had a good game plan and we executed it well. Listen, I I it’s almost like the Ryder Cup. The Americans weren’t bad. The Europeans were better. It’s almost like Kansas City. Mahomes hasn’t been bad. He’s kept him afloat. He’s been a life preserver and so is Andy Reid. But you got to give them something because they don’t run the ball and Kelsey at this age isn’t dependable. You got to give them something. And this week they got something. They got an over-the-top threat and worthy and suddenly the offense looks good. Now they need a number one receiver. They’re not going to be a great run team this year. They’re not. But Rasheed Rice before the suspension was a number one. Then you have Ju Guu Smith’s probably a three. Worthy is your two and a gadget guy. With that defense and that coaching, that’s a Super Bowl bubble team. Now I think the NFC is better than the AFC this year top to bottom. But don’t don’t I know Stone Oh, the injuries for Baltimore. The Vikings could barely field an offensive line. Like it this is just the reality of it. You got all sorts of guys banged up right now, more than I recall. Um but overall, I was blown away. Jmack, uh Saturday was great. Uh I don’t know why. I mean, the Bears blocked a kick to win. I don’t know what it is, but apparently blocked. It used to be when you blocked a kick in the NFL that you would get a big guy would get a hand on it and he would just tip it and then about 20 yards down the field, everybody was told to stay away from the ball, don’t touch it. Right now, guys not only block it, they volleyball it. They spike it. They get two hands on it. I don’t know what’s happened, but it’s just everywhere. like kicks now are like probably most of the Greg Olsen told us last week you shouldn’t kick because of math. The second thing I mean the Cowboys got two points blocking an extra a point. It’s crazy the game that it felt like that turned the game. It was about to be 14 nothing then it’s 13-2 and things snowball from there for Green Bay. But it’s a good point Colin. So remember how Bichc used to say that the first four games are like a preseason right? I think that’s how we should look at it gambling wise because special teams now is a huge factor in the NFL. Eagles had a punt block for a touchdown. How about um uh was it Jacksonville? Jacksonville had two huge returns. Like San Francisco special teams are garbage. I’m done with the Niners by the way. Yeah, the Niners special teams. John Middle’s been telling this they’ve been bad for four years. So bad. So bad. And then they reach and and draft a kicker in the third round. It’s like, “Guys, you can draft kickers. Seventh round, you have two picks.” Uh, all right. But regard Hey, regarding the Raiders, can you text Chip Kelly and uh your boy Pete Carol and be like, “Why are you settling for a 54 yard field goal to win the game?” Like, they didn’t try to get more yards. You know why? What are we doing? Cuz Gino Smith had three picks. Yeah, but here’s the thing. They were in Bears territory. Gino only turned it over in his own end all of yesterday. like I no kind of joking but yeah that was just brutal for for the that game was incredibly ugly. I want to talk about that with the Bears. It was it was one of the ugliest games but it was wildly entertaining because these are not great teams. Uh Caleb Caleb with a good game-winning drive there. I I was like there’s no way he’s pulling this off. He delivered. I mean good and had a couple of key drops by his guys. Today’s show brought to you by our new presenting sponsor Hard Rock Bet. When I watch Matt Stafford play, I I’m not I’m talking if you just said, “Okay, you can’t move out of the pocket. You sit in the pocket and you have to throw.” I’m not sure there’s three guys that have ever been better throwing from the pocket. What do you see with Stafford? Yeah, well, I agree. Andy did give the game away, but uh no, listen, uh Matthew Stafford was the question coming into this season. Like his health was the question. They’ve got this great roster, but he’s 37 years old and he’s got this back injury. He’s walking around like he’s constipated for four weeks and we’re like, “Oh shoot, like this, he’s not going to be able to play this year.” And he comes out, he looks amazing. It doesn’t surprise me that he looks amazing throwing the ball, but he looks amazing like moving in the pocket, uh you know, like torquing his body, all those different things. I mean, look out. Look out NFC. This is a team and this is a quarterback that does not fear the Philadelphia Eagles. So, I think matchup wise, what he’s got going with Puka and uh Devonte, I I think this is a real threat to winning it all in the NFC because of Matthew Stafford. So, I want to go back and talk about the Packers. So, I I said pump the brakes. Listen, older teams like McVey and Stafford and and these are veteran teams. They know how to close out games. The Eagles have a lot of older guys. The Chiefs do. Buffalo. Green Bay is a bunch of kids. I said Matt Laflur is a coach. He’s a chaperone. It’s like a college team. They’re a bunch of kids. They don’t know how to close out games. Their clock management. There’s a reason Dallas’s clock management is pretty good. Dak’s really smart and he’s been doing this for a decade. I think Green Bay is fine. I think part of this is Matt, they’re still they’ve been the youngest team in the league for three years. They they’re just trying to figure out how to close these games against inferior opponents. Yeah. Well, it’s a it’s a young league and and I also think like no one’s really talking about this, but the twominute operation has changed everything because of the new Kball rule. Kickers, field goal kickers, their range just changed. Like when I was playing, I was the holder or the backup holder most of my career. You had to get to the 33 yard line. That is no longer the line. Um and if you ask these kickers, they they can kick a 65 yarder. And so the twominute operation for quarterbacks, the new kickoff, the dynamic kickoff, and you got these quarterbacks who can spread it all all around the field. Um I think you’re going to see more exciting late game teams out of it, but they’re not really out of it late in the late in the game. I thought offensively both offenses were pretty awesome. I thought the defenses, this will be a tough one to watch for both teams today. Uh um so I I I said it’s it’s weird. there’s been um I mean like I always felt like golf and baseball are sports because there’s a lot of lag time that sometimes in golf you know I’ve seen great players like Greg Norman just evaporate or in baseball I’ve seen great players like A-Rod go into a series it gets into his head and he can’t hit but in football hockey the sports are fast you know I mean there’s another snap another shot um but I look at Lamar Jackson and I honestly think Kansas City’s a bit in his head I think he overthinks thinks it I mean off you take away the script the first series you know he he just I mean is it or is it or is it this Matt Spags is a great coach he’s now got six or seven games against him he’s got the beats on him maybe is it that I mean what is wrong with Lamar and the Chiefs yeah I I do listen I think there are some defensive coordinators that they don’t feel they don’t fear certain great players Lamar Jackson is no doubt a great player but for whatever reason Steve Spagnolo and the Chiefs I don’t think they fear him like the rest of the league does. I I I in fact I would put Mike Tomlin and the Steelers in that boat, too. Those might be the only two. The rest of the league fears him. So, this is a tough matchup for him. Um, you know, and I think that like I just remember when I was in Seattle, they were we felt like we could beat anybody. We felt good good going up against, you know, Ray Lewis’s defense, the Ravens, like we felt good about them, but like there were some teams we didn’t feel good about. Like Mike Mars, the greatest show on turf, going up against his teams. I like we just never felt good about that. uh Erlocker and the Bears. That wasn’t a good matchup for us. For whatever reason, the Chiefs, they feel like they’ve got a system and a game plan that works uh with the Ravens. And it’s tough when it’s such a rivalry game. And I I wonder I guess I would wonder if Lamar feels like he’s got to put the team on his back when he goes up against the Patrick Mahomes. That’s what I would wonder because I think he’s he’s capable of just playing his normal game from the pocket, not taking so many sacks, but sometimes when he tries to put the team on his back and use his legs too much, uh I don’t think it’s the best thing for him. He’s an MVP quarterback as a thrower from the pocket if he wants to be. So, I thought in the early game that was the most complete Steeler offense I have seen in years. And I thought Aaron looked lively. He had a bounce. I thought, you know, they’re running the ball now a little bit. They did. And my take is does Aaron deserve credit for that because Pittsburgh can’t get the O line or the run game right for seven years. And Aaron arrives and it’s like you can always say it’s luck, but they’re now winning games that I don’t know. I just thought, what is it? Aaron looked maybe it’s the Guinness he had before. I thought he looked really I thought he looked 10 years younger, honestly. Yeah, you joke about the Guinness, but I do think there’s something about great elite quarterbacks who are doing it into their 40s. You got to like not get bored. And I think that environment probably like like was exciting for him. Uh getting DK Metaf involved I think unlocks this offense quite a bit. But in that Arthur Smith offense, there’s a lot of leeway on the quarterback like a lot of plays. It could be a run, it could be a pass. It’s uh it’s kind of up to the quarterback to decide. The play caller kind of calls both. and you’re an artist, not a blacksmith in terms of how you paint your canvas as a quarterback. And Aaron Rogers is great at that. I think leaning into more run game on those check with me probably does help the offensive line and ultimately helps the team. They looked really good. Uh their division doesn’t look good. So, this looks like a playoff team. I just hope that, you know, they’re in the honeymoon phase right now with Mike Tomlin and Aaron Rogers. I hope that they continue on this path and don’t go kind of on that New York Jets path of last year and kind of forget uh how to help all 11 guys be successful most of all up front with the offensive line. Okay, I want to talk a couple young quarterbacks. First of all, Drake May. Um we we said he was Justin Herbert, but he didn’t have the snaps. Um he’s got the coach. Um Will Campbell looks like it’s going to work. The rest of the O line a little shaky. Uh the running game is good. I don’t know. I watched Drake May now. I’ve watched him the last three weeks. That looks like a hit. That looks like a franchise quarterback to me. What say you? Yeah, definitely still learning though. I mean, three weeks ago they destroyed Miami down in Miami. Two weeks ago they played Pittsburgh and they played way better than the Steelers. They just turned the ball over five times and Drake was a part of two of those. And so like that’s, you know, I don’t care how great you are from the 20 to the 20. If you’re turning the ball over, uh, that’s not winning football. So he got that corrected. They got that corrected. That was a total beatd down against Carolina. Um, that’s kind of what I think people are excited about. So, this is a this is a team to watch. Uh, Mike Vrabel, when you get the head coach right, get the quarterback right, you know, everything else kind of falls into line usually. So, they got a big matchup. I think it’s at Buffalo this week. Uh, look out for this team. This was a team in a rebuild mode. They could very well be a wild card team this year. So, Jackson Dart, they generated and drew up several running plays. Was that because they saw a weakness in the defense or was that because they didn’t trust him in the pocket? I mean, it worked, but what was your takeaway in the Giants game plan? Yeah, Brian Daval is not afraid to run the quarterback and I actually think designed runs are the way to do it. You know, I think he ran the ball 10 times. Seven were on designed runs. I think it caught the Chargers by surprise. They used Scataboo as a lead blocker. I think it’s safer to do it that way. The element of surprise was there. It’s not going to be there the rest of the year, though. Now, everyone’s seen it and they know. I think for a young quarterback, for me in particular, I remember when I would kind of have this like anxiousness or nerves or excitement going into a game, I always felt better once I took a hit. And so that that might have been part of it, like, hey, let’s get a designed run, let him take a hit that he knows is coming and then he’ll feel part of the game. What happened was the runs worked and they worked really well. And that first drive was epic. I think there’s an excitement in New York right now. I think Dball, I mean, he was practically trying to kiss Jackson Dart after the game. That was pretty pretty amazing. So, I I think they’re really excited. I think uh you know, they they got a thing going here. I would just caution you those designed runs, people are ready for it. Um but there is other ways to do it. You know, I think they should copy a little bit of the Jaden Daniels quarterback run game and use that for Jackson Dart. I think that’d be a great kind of like step two in the process for him with the the QB run game. So, I want to go back to Thursday and talk Darnold and the Seahawks with you combined with Minnesota. So, Minnesota made him an offer reportedly, but you know, S and I don’t I don’t I would have left if I was Sam. It’s like I love Kevin Oonnell, but I want to be a franchise guy. And the bottom line is JJ McCarthy was drafted and they’re going to play him. But I watched Minnesota yesterday with Carson Wentz and I’m watching Sam Darnold Thursday. I’ve always thought he was elite. He won in high school, USC, Minnesota, Seattle, and I don’t think anybody can win with the Jets and the Panthers. Are you surprised? I mean, Seattle is young. They’re like Green Bay Young on offense. Are you surprised it’s been this smooth for Sam? Well, John Schneider’s done a great job, but listen, if Gino Smith hadn’t forced his way out of Seattle, then Sam Darnold would still be on the Minnesota Vikings. I mean, that’s uh or or at least he wouldn’t be a Seattle Seahawk. I mean, that’s the reality. But no, he wanted to be with Clint Kubak. Clint Kubak was on Kyle Shanahan’s staff when Sam Darnold went there to be a niner, to be a backup, and kind of take a, you know, take a step back to take two steps forward in his career, much like M. Jones did this year. and he hit it off with his play caller. When you have play caller and quarterback really loving each other, really finishing each other’s s sent sentences, that’s when it clicks. And this offense is perfect for him. It’s the same offense that Kevin Oonnell was trying to run. It’s run game focused. It’s play action focused. Uh it’s really Kyle Shanahan’s offense with a Clint Kubak twist and it’s clicking. And like you said, this is a very young team, a talented defense. They don’t have the blue chip weapons like other teams do. They have JSN, but truly and honestly, I think this is a team that said, “Hey, let’s take a 27y old quarterback with some scars from Carolina, from the Jets, and let’s use those scars to be a battle tested quarterback when it matters.” And I think that’s what you’re seeing out of Sam Darnold. His numbers are great. Yeah. And a fun watch, too. Sam is fun to watch. He’s just got enough He’s got I always said when he came out, he’s got just enough reckless that you got to put some structure in for him. But Andrew Luck was reckless. I mean, Josh Allen early was reckless. A lot of these guys that, you know, I mean, it worked in high school and college. It works a lot of times in the pros. It is. I understand guys who sometimes wing it because it’s worked most of their life. Well, there’s a difference between like going through your progression. You say, you know, you go one, two, and then take off and run or try to use your legs. I think what Sam’s done a great job of this year is he’s gotten through number five in his progression. He’ll go one, two, three, four, five, and then run. And even when he does run, it’s two hands on the ball, eyes downfield, not looking at the rush. And and that’s where success happens. And even when the play is broken down, some of their most explosive plays this year have been when he has started to scramble, eyes downfield, and he’ll take a shot downfield to a JSN or someone like that. And and that’s quarterbacking. That’s elite level NFL quarterback quarterbacking, not high school, freshman football, college quarterback quarterbacking. There is a difference, and that’s what it is. Matt Hasselback as always on a Monday. Crushed it. Thanks, bud.

  1. Colin are you dululu? Your weak 1 and 2 takes were the chiefs we’re done. Go back and watch your own content lol. Your segment “what I got right and what I got wrong” you said you were right about the chiefs being done 😂

  2. Packers are going to win the division?!? Ooooooh, we'll see about that. Colin really loves the Packers, hope you put that on your Colin wrong at the end of the year.

  3. My Cowboys need to fix defense had an epiphany Prescott underrated never been the problem defense the problem se fix that we are a contender again also I like Coach Schotty doing good job he needs some more guys give him that and with that good young offensive line and good veteran QB we have a legitimate chance give it one
    Two years be patient

  4. What is this idiot talking about? The Raiders did try to get more yardage. The Bears stopped them on a 3rd and 1. You want them to go for it on 4th down and risk losing like that? Their kicker hits 50+ yarders no problem. The clock was also a major factor. You’re paid(somehow) to talk about these games, do better man lol

  5. the chiefs are literlt 2 plays from being 4-0 cowherd had them buried after 2 weeks i didn't panic after the first 2 weeks but i am optomisttic about the rest of the season.

  6. Cowherd doesn't understand that QB pressures really impact a game. The other players on Green Bay's defense–namely Rashan Gary and Lucas Van Ness–didn't show up. Gary and Van Ness should be getting sacks because Parsons is double teamed and chipped all the time.

  7. You can’t go from ‘their Superbowl window is closed’ to ‘They’re back!!’ Either believe in them or don’t believe in them, but absolutely don’t flip flop back and forth as if nobody remembers what you were saying five days ago.

  8. Go to Herd's page of vids and go back seven days. He literally has a video saying the Chiefs are not a top tier team any longer. So he wants to pivot now? Bulls*yt!

  9. 8:18 you don’t watch the chiefs then they aren’t trading for a running back unless injury they are going to work the 3 backs they have and OL they aren’t trading for anybody it’s always next person up.

  10. Colin dude we all watch you religiously so we know you were talking down on the Chiefs. At least eat some crow and admit you were WRONG about the chiefs being done. The defense is ELITE

  11. J Mac last week: "Kelce is going to beat Roquan Smith?!" Kelce literally sent him to sidelines after he beat him on a route. Where you at J Mac? The dude sits there like a stooge after the Chiefs game discussion and pretends he didn't say anything last week. What a goon.

  12. Dak played the #1 or 2 defense in the league. J love played the WORST defense in the league. So collin decides to downplay the packers defense instead of just giving props to Dak😂😂😂
