We need to talk about Braeden Cootes
on the 18-year-old rookie Braden Coots. Jeff, is he undeniably one of their best four centers? Is he undeniably one of their best 12 to 14 forwards? Uh, he’s certainly been one of their best four centers to this point in camp. That’s without dispute. Now, Elias Patterson and Teddy Bluger have only played one preseason game, so that factors into it as well. But, uh, the kid has continued to put his best foot forward. And look, the goals, element of luck in both of them. One hits them, one banks in. But even if we subtract the goals from the equation here, uh there’s just a lot to like in his game. I think you’re seeing his headiness. I think you’re seeing a guy that skates pretty close if not at the NHL level already. Uh what an experience for him to, you know, in his hometown, a Sherwood Park guy to match up against McDavid and D dry. There was a four-on- four situation late in the first period and it was those two guys for Edmonton and Bren Coots was out for the Vancouver Conucks and I just thought like what a moment. Uh you probably saw the photo after the game the Conucks posted his crew on hand and quite a crew it was. So uh he’s making it really difficult and I think now uh you know a week out from roster decisions, final roster decisions like there’s absolutely this path forward now that uh he’s going to make the grade here. It’s going to force them to make some difficult decisions elsewhere.
“He’s making it very difficult…he’s going to make the grade here and they’re going to have to make some difficult decisions”

Good to see the refs are in their horrible regular season form. Cootes takes an elbow and a sucker punched in the nose with no penalties.
Can you get him a nine game wonder try out. Without losing someone to waivers.
In my opinion. Little to gain. Potential to mess up his development by keeping him .
It'd be so cool to see him make the roster, and so fun to see how this all plays out!
There's plenty of centers that are older and the Canucks will lose on waivers. Sure, give the teenager a few games and then send him back to Seattle. Jeff is on ludes.
