Vikings Fans Just Got A Double Dose Of GREAT News!
[Music] What’s going on everybody? You are watching Vikings now by chat sports and my name is Patrick Seatman as we got some great news to discuss today around JJ McCarthy and Brian O’Neal. We got some big-time injury updates coming in from Kevin Oonnell, but then we also do have some concerning injury news on Andrew Van Ginkle and that neck injury he’s dealing with. So, we’ll break down all three of these injury updates on today’s show. But if you guys could hit that subscribe button today, we’re closing in here on 62 and a half thousand subs. Just need 42 more of you guys to hit that subscribe button. But I do really appreciate everybody who has subscribed over the last couple of weeks. We’ve been growing like crazy. One of the fastest growing Vikings YouTube channels out there. So again, thank you guys so much for all the support. But if you guys have not already, hit that subscribe button today. So, the great news for us Vikings fans, um, this coming in last night from Jeremy Fowler, him tweeting out, “Vikings right tackle Brian O’Neal suffered a sprained MCL Sunday in Ireland.” The two-time Pro Bowler could miss some time. You may be saying, “Well, what’s the great news there?” Well, I thought it was going to be a complete MCL tear and Brian O’Neal was going to be out for the whole season, but it’s only a sprained MCL and that probably means he’ll miss, I would assume, one to two weeks. And, you know, with a grade one MCL sprain, it is normally one to two weeks. Grade two is 3 to four weeks and then grade three is 6 to 8 weeks. And you may be asking, well, why do you think it’s going to be a grade one MCL sprain for Brian O’Neal instead of a grade two sprain? Well, because the Vikings have decided that he will not go on short-term IR. Now, obviously, if he was going on short-term IR, I would have more concern over how, you know, much time Brian O’Neal would miss because obviously he’d have to miss four games. But it is some good news that he is probably only going to miss this week against the Cleveland Browns. Now, hopefully week seven against the Eagles, he should be out there, but we’ll wait and see what happens. And I’m not going to lie, the season was almost over. Like, if the Vikings would have lost Brian O’Neal, I can’t underreact to how catastrophic that loss would be because then you’re going from Brian O’Neal to Justin School. We have already seen the fall off from Christian Darasaw to Justin School. It completely changes how this offensive line plays. And if you were to lose Brian O’Neal for the rest of the season, the offensive line, like even if you got the four other guys all fully healthy, it still would have been a massive blow to lose Brian O’Neal. He’s one of the better right tackles in the league. He’s a key part to this offensive line. So, I thought the season was almost over with him potentially being out for the year. But good news, it’s just an MCL sprain. And that kind of leads me to this. Find a way to win a football game on Sunday because now it is on the table that week seven, this football team is getting incredibly incredibly healthy. Not only defensively with Andrew Van Genko and Blake Cashman, hopefully both those guys being back for week seven, but also offensively, you know, you’re getting CJ Ham back in the fold and you could potentially see this fiveman offensive line finally play. Like we have not seen them take one snap together this off seasonason. Christian Darasaw or this season, Darasaw, Jackson, Kelly, Fry, and Brian O’Neal. Those five and not played one snap during the regular season so far. So week seven coming off the buy, that could be huge. So, just try to find a way to win a football game this Sunday. You move to 3 and2 and you have a gauntlet of a schedule coming up, but we also haven’t seen this Vikings team even close to 90% healthy, but week seven could be one of those big-time games. And you know, the offensive line, I mean, it’s been really underwhelming this season. Like, even the five guys who uh were hoping to all get back for week seven, it’s not like they’ve really played great great football, but they’ve been way better than the backup offensive linemen. I mean, the backup offensive linemen have been terrible. I don’t know how Justin School has a 57.7 PFF grade. It feels like he should be in the 20s. Blake Brenell wasn’t too hot either in his uh one start this past week. Michael Jurgens, he’s been absolutely horrible. 45.6 uh PFF grade and 126 snaps. And then even Walter Rouse, I mean, you’re really going to bank on a guy like Walter Rouse stepping up and filling in for Brian O’Neal. Obviously, that would not have gone well. So, the Vikings, they’re starting to get healthy, but it was a huge, huge injury update around Brian O’Neal. Honestly, it pretty much saved the season. Like that notification when I got it on my phone, I was so so happy last night. So, if you guys want the Vikings to get healthy, week seven should be when this football team does get healthy. But you guys let me know or you guys uh like today’s show if you guys want the Vikings to get healthy. All right, so the not good news here and then we’ll talk about JJ McCarthy on the second half or on the tail half of today’s show. But Andrew Van Ginkle, his neck, he’s not going to practice at all this week. Kevin Oonnell already came out and said that and that’s incredibly incredibly concerning. Now, number one, the Vikings clearly missed Andrew Van Ginkle last week. Now, I understand against the Cincinnati Bengals, the guy only played eight snaps and you know, the defense looked absolutely fantastic, but also he had two sacks on those eight snaps and also the Bengals offense is absolutely horrible right now. And then when you went against a competent offense in the Steelers who’s not even a, you know, top half of the league offense, you ended up getting gashed a little bit. So clearly they missed Van Ginkle last week and with the way he plays, neck injuries are scary. Like you know we talk about that week seven game as a spot where the Vikings could get very very healthy. They could get a lot of their key guys back. You’re assuming Andrew Van Genko is one of those guys. But this neck injury like this could keep him out for a while because one neck injuries are an MF for the deal with and two Van Genko is a very physical football player. He is flying around the football field. He’s hitting every single play. So, him dealing with a neck injury, I could see the Vikings really trying to play this safe, not rushing him back. But again, week seven, that would give him, you know, damn near three weeks off before that game. Damn near four weeks off if you even consider him playing eight snaps um against the Bengals. So hopefully Andrew Van Ginkle get him healthy and Blake Cashman as well. Those are the second and third most important pieces on this defense. And you know, when they are fully healthy, I still think this is the top three unit in the league. You guys let me know when Van Ginkle and Cashman are back in the fold. What do you think? Do you think the Vikings have a top three defense when fully healthy? Give me a Y for yes or give me an N for no. You guys let me know your thoughts down below. Now we dive into the latest around JJ McCarthy here in a second, but today’s episode is brought to you guys by Prize Pick. It’s good to be right. All righty, let’s get you guys the latest here on JJ McCarthy as he’s still trying to work his way back from this high ankle sprain. And Kevin Okonnell gave some good insight on how they’re going to work him back into the fold starting this week at practice, which is absolutely huge for a status for week seven. But KOC said this, “My hope is maybe not necessarily early on. We’re going to handle Wednesday probably in a unique way from what could be kind of a hybrid day, but as we get into Thursday and Friday, I’m hoping we can at least get him out there and get him taking some drops and starting to get back in the normal rhythm of a practice week.” So, I’m reading this as JJ will be good for week seven. Like, if he’s already starting to practice this week, starting to get some live reps on air, give him another week off with the buy, I am assuming he will be fully ready to go for week seven. And no matter what happens this weekend, no matter even if Carson Wentz breaks the all-time record for most passing yards, passing touchdowns in a game, JJ McCarthy is QB1. Going back and watching the film this past week of the Vikings offense against the Steelers defense, I’m honestly not even blaming Kevin O’Connell too much. Carson Wentz was flat out horrible. He was missing wide openen receivers. Justin Jefferson ran free for it felt like about three touchdowns in that game and Wentz just missed him. He got happy feet in the pocket. He had no rhythm. He was not accurate with the football. He was turning the football over. So I understand KC, you know, we were all kind of giving him issues with, you know, no short quick passing game, you know, no commitment to the run. But honestly, after watching back the film, watching back this Vikings Steelers game, the biggest reason why the Vikings offense struggled and didn’t put up a lot of points, it was because of the quarterback. Carson Wentz was just flat out terrible. And on the JJ McCarthy front here, don’t sell your JJ Stock just yet because RSC, you know, people still saying, “Oh, the Vikings, you know, they got a massive quarterback problem. JJ’s only played, you know, one good quarter of football.” You are right when you say that. But also, this kid, he’s only played two games. He’s only played in eight quarters and he had a lot working against him in both of those outings. Didn’t have Christian Darasol, didn’t have Jordan Addison. So JJ, it’ll be all right. Just got to trust this process. And if you could somehow get a win this weekend, you beat the Cleveland Browns, you move the three and two, you get JJ back, you get all these weapons back, you get that defense a little healthier, you got a chance to go on a run, it’s going to be tough. The schedule is brutal. There is going to be lots of up and downs, but if we could just somehow sneak into the playoffs, get that six or seven seed. is definitely still on the table for this football team. You just got to get healthy and start playing some better football. But if you guys made it to the end of today’s show, we appreciate all of you guys watching. We don't need McCarthy behind center until that Oline is fixed, let Wentz take the beaten! Hes gone next year anyways 🤧
Kirill the thrill 8 years 17m LETS GO
The players are dropping like flies! Up 2 down 1, up 1 down 2 that needs to stop before we can be good 💯 %
No defense a joke!! Offense a joke ,ha ha

SKOL PATTY- S

Kelly is not playing anytime soon. I'm already sick of people saying he may be back by week 7….5th concussion since 2022 and 2 in 3 weeks….he's not playing for a while
JJ shouldn’t play another game all year. He’s not ready.
Could of been SB favorites if we signed Rodgers
Fire Chris Kuper
SKOL
I worry about JJ behind that line but he has to get playing time. Let's roll #9
Carmen Wentz has experience but clearly is a pocket passer and our o-line is struggling. Why not throw bosmer in and let him run the show but have Wentz there to mentor brosmer
In Didn't think our line was that bad to change in the first place. Now look at all the trouble we have
Vikings are going to be drafting g in the top 10 , playoffs are not even part of reality , Vikings are ridiculous
SKOL!!!
Pack it in boys. Better luck next year.
Let´s Go Vikings! Skol! 🏈💜💛
I told everybody at the beginning of training camp that JJ is not ready. We had to sign Rogers and we didn’t. I don’t get it. You had that beauty, beautiful stadium. You have all those fans that packet in the watch you guys play and this is what we get year after year after yearthe off line is always beat up every year. Our offensive line is hurt every year does a bunch of players hurt on the defense those guys that you picked up in free agency were banged up on their other team before you got them to us😊 i’ve been fight. I’ve been a fan ever since I was seven years old. You see these other teams build successfully why can’t we you have the support you got good owners you’ve got great fans. Minnesota is a great place to play at you just can’t get a quarterback. The best quarterbacks we had was Dante Culpepper Fran Tarkenton, Randll Cunningham. Everybody else were bums. Find us a quarterback, and JJ is not the quarterback of the future trust me on this guy he hasn’t showed nobody nothing. He didn’t do great things in college. All he did was win win what JJ is going to need at least two years and that’s a maybe so we have to wait two more years guys never gonna see a Super Bowl before I die, but I’m a Viking fan for life in this podcast is a joke. I mean the guy is a nice guy. Don’t get me wrong who he is and what he does. It’s totally different. He could be a great boyfriend or a great husband or a great guy but talking football no have a nice day
I will not be mad at all. Jefferson asked for a trade due deserve so much better. Can't keep a quarterback. Online sucks not going anywhere this year.
We wait all year with our hopes up every year yes this is gonna be our year. We won 14 games last year. You let that quarterback walk out the door for a guy that never took a NFL you had Aaron Rodgers that wanted to come play for you you closed the door on him for a guy who never took a NFL snap it’s like you slapping us the fans in the face. I don’t get it. I’m not gonna put my whole franchise in somebody’s hands who never showed me nothing I hope JJ have a great year. I hope he turns out to be something but you guys you know what Insurance is do you know what a good spare tire is? We supposed to have got one and we didn’t do that I think Carson went is a good quarterback. He’s only been there for a month. I think he’s gonna do great things you can’t blame him. He had no protection, but he still put those balls there. He has some great deliveries. He took punishment, but he delivered some great passes. Give the guy some credit. He look way better than JJ. This is not fair to the fans.
He’s terrible……wentz
SKOL
Blaming only Wentz for his owed is dumb. He had NO O-line which means NO QB could perform competently. We will se with JJ it’s good he has no pressure now that the season is lost
SKOL!!!
It’s obvious that we need to get a new OL coach. KOC saw Donatel was not the answer at defense. Why is it that in year 4 and he still has not figured out he needs a new OL coach. In another year having a bottom 10 running game.
