Norman Powell says he’s a budding star, that teams don’t need a generational superstar to win a championship, and that the Heat should be ‘feared’

  1. He is right that you dont need a generational superstar to wim a title. Look at the 04 pistons amd 24 celtics

  2. Gotta love his confidence. Norm always backs himself.

Usually, title winners do have a top 15 player at minimum leading the team. Look through title victors over the last 10 years. Using 10 because the game has shifted over the last 10-12 years.

Top 15 is stretching it significantly but that’s intended. Bottom line, it usually takes a true Elite player to win a title, but the Heat do have a lot of Very Good players. And having a lot of Very Good players all collectively playing well and fitting together could make for something special perhaps.

  3. Confidence is a great thing. Glad to see Norm talk the team and himself up. I do agree that we will be feared. Not necessarily because we are that great but no matter what, we are a pain in the ass to play against.

  4. I love this talk. Get them hyped Norm!

There’s a lot of ifs in this roster, but if the young guys take a step forward and Terry regains some form (not even peak, just not sucking), then we could be a very dangerous team.

  5. Just sucks rozier is on the fucking roster for Miami fans but if they can be a top 5 defensive team, they will be overlooked coming into the season and can make some noise

  6. Ideally yeah the Heat made it to the NBA Finals twice with Jimmy Butler who has never been a star or the spotlight among stars until he got to Miami and by the numbers is a mediocre player most of his career. Butler is above and beyond at playing great defense.

If Miami can get a guy who is the right fit (and I will say slightly better than what Jimmy Butler is) with Adebayo and Herro can stay healthy this team is actually dangerous enough to get back in the finals again. There needs to be some tweaking though because they’re not going to win without some veteran leaders who know their roles and have playoff experience over these young guys who collapse under the pressure.
