Well at least someone’s proud…

  1. It ended so bad. Not just a sweep but one that gives the Cubs home field advantage over the Padres… why is he proud ?

  2. Probably because they did better than expected and no one quit. He did more with that roster than many other managers could. That’s why he is still the manager of the St Louis Cardinals and we are still limited to questioning everything we don’t understand here on social media.

  3. I mean, he had this team with a fighting chance til the last month. It was ugly, but one could argue if Mo would have cut bait with Fedde earlier they would have been in it til the end. I like that Bloom is letting him finish his lame duck season next year. Bloom has an offseason and a deadline to work on a roster, then can find his manager a year from now when he’s got his print on his roster.

  4. Yeah, all those baserunning mistakes, forgotten infield fly rules… very proud.

Team was not constructed to win. Team shouldn’t have played like morons on a semi frequent basis.

Effort? Swept by our division rival to end the season? Ah, yes. Such pride.

  5. Oli Marmol is proud of his players.

The people outraged by this will turn around in a different Marmol thread and post about how he throws his players under buses.

  6. My biggest problem with Marmol is that his teams lose.

My second biggest problem with Marmol is that he doesn’t seem to see losing as a problem.

This guy should be coaching youth sports, not Major League Baseball.

  7. I can’t stress this enough, the cardinals were 0-2 in series against the Rockies and 2-4 in games against the Rockies, including 2 shut out losses. Look at the standings again and tell me how important those games ended up being against a historically bad team.

  8. They just weren’t good enough to be a playoff team. Roster wasn’t built to win a division. No pitching depth, no power hitting, young players like Winn and Walker aren’t taking steps forward at the plate, we were sellers at the deadline.

Not his biggest fan either, but saying you’re proud of your players doesn’t seem like a stupid thing to say as a manager right?

I dunno. Seems like this post is just an attempt to pile on criticism bc we’re unhappy with the final outcome but it’s aimed in the wrong direction.

We need one more year of sub .500 ball, stock up some young talent and then hit free agency next offseason with the aim to compete for the division
