Rich Eisen: Why Philadelphia Eagles Shouldn’t Sleep on the 2-2 Denver Broncos in Week 5

The Broncos are moving along. Now, a lot of people thought they could be 3-1, if not 4-0 based on how the bandwagon filled up during the summer. Hey, look out for the Broncos. Um, I will tell you this, if you had told me before the season, what we know now, I’d have thought they’re 4-0. Through four games, the Denver Broncos have still trailed in the fourth quarter a grand total of 0 minutes and 0 seconds. That’s insane. That’s wow. They are going into their game next week in Philadelphia having trailed not a single second in the fourth quarter of a game this year. Again, there two wins. I love that they were winning and their two losses. They lost at the final gun in Indianapolis when there was a missed field goal, but a leverage penalty gave Indianapolis another shot to beat him and they did. And then last week in um in SoFi up the road kicker uh Dicker the kicker beating them at the final gun. Bo Nicks over 300 yards passing last night 326 ran one in tossed two in. And with the defense doing what they did to Cincinnati. Mhm. This is an interesting uh particular statistic. I have it right here. They outgained the Bengals by 353 total yards. Uh largest total yards margin in a game so far this year by more than 100 yards. A whole football field. Second game in the last two seasons with such a difference. JK Dobbins, congratulations. You just took Latavius Murray off the list of the last Denver Bronco to run for 100 yards in a game. First one in Shawn Payton’s tenure to do so. Courtland Sutton lit it up. So did RJ Harvey. So did Marvin Mims Jr. That’s the stuff we’re looking for. Shawn Payeyton had this to say last night. Obviously um early in the season all of all 31 other teams are really working to uh figure out who they are. Um we’re no different. Um but it certainly was a step in the right direction. There were a lot of things that we were able to do tonight that that hopefully can carry over. Um, now we changed quickly to a team that just finished winning the Super Bowl. So, um, we’ll enjoy this one and then get back to work tomorrow. It just doesn’t it make you feel better as a fan to hear somebody that you know who’s won a championship and kind of knows what they’re doing and everyone was wondering what was he doing when he first got there and what were they doing telling Russell Wilson you’re making uh more money than any other dead cat quarterback in the history of the league is is doing and we’re just going to go ahead and do it and then we’re going to draft Bo Knicks and then he’s going to start to blossom like the way that he is and maybe next here the conversation in Denver will be can Bo Knicks get off to a faster start than he did as a rookie in his second season cuz look what he’s done the rest of the season we could be looking at that what a big game next week Philadelphia and then the week after that they’re on NFL Network I’m calling that game Broncos versus the Jets so they could go into that game with a big huge head of steam before taking on the Giants the Cowboys and then the Texans Broncos looking good so far despite being just two and They could be 4-0, yada yada yada. And you take a look at the standings in the AFC West, the Giants, who they’re going to, again, the Broncos see in week seven after coming back from London. And teams, by the way, can choose. Don’t give me the buy. Give them to me later in the season. Uh, coming off of an international game thanks to the Giants. There are the Broncos now just a game and a half back because again, they lost in Los Angeles. The Chiefs also lost in Los Angeles despite it being Brazil. That was a home game for the Chargers. So, Broncos in the mix. They’re in the mix. They’re in the mix in every possible way. And defensively, they just put the bang thing on an opponent. That’s what you said yesterday about what you like seeing out of their your Patriots is when you’ve got an opponent that’s beatable, you not only beat them, you beat them up. And they did that last night. They did. I’m excited that Patrick Certan’s going to get another week off this week. All right. Good. You know, the Eagles don’t throw it. They don’t throw it. Huh? Their best players. Well, I mean, if if again, if you’re you’re you’re Shawn Payeyton, you tell Certan that’s number 11. You get him as pissed off as he possibly can. Y, you know, and you tell the rook, you know, Baron, all right, that’s Devonte Smith. You get you get Herz getting a little antsy guys up front. And look, everybody’s just going to go into these games and the Broncos will to stop Barkley first and deal with the other stuff second. The Broncos are equipped to win this football game coming up in Philadelphia. They are equipped to do it. Just, you know, Boon Knicks has got to don’t turn it over, right? Don’t make the mistakes. Y if you’ve got your tight end uh open at the goal line, connect with him. Otherwise, the Eagles will pick it off and change the game. defensively. Take advantage of the mistakes. Also, don’t on special teams let somebody just barge through to block a punt in Tampa or a field goal against the Rams. Just don’t do it and see what happens against the Eagles if you play a clean sheet game. Let’s see what can happen. And the Broncos are potentially equipped to do that.   1. Remember all last season Rich kept picking against the eagles? I remember him picking the Bengals to win only for the Eagles to win by 20

  3. I’m a broncos fan and Philly is not to be confused with some lower tier team. They are one of the best teams if not the best. This is a loss, of course I want Denver to win, but Philly in Philly is a different beast.

  4. Everybody is better than the Eagles except when its time to beat the Eagles. Ive never see a more disrespected undefeated defending SB champion of my lifetime

  5. Eagles are a GREAT team…no weaknesses, great coaches…..but Denver is built the same way…..it’s going to be a good game…..Bo will get up for this one…..want to make a statement got to beat the best….and the Eagles are the best!

  10. If, the Broncos can keep it close, they can win it but Philly is a tough, tough talented team. I hope it's a great game and that my Broncos win but whoever wins, I think that team is gonna have to "earn it".

  17. That last part, is worth all the respect. Rich is now saying you need a clean game to be Philly. No turnovers. No mistakes, need your "A" game to win. If not, somehow, Philly will beat you. That is how they have won so far. 8-8 in redzone conversion, special teams, and getting turnovers.

    The offense will get better, can't get too much more inconsistent 😂😂

  20. Bo Nix vs. Bengals was the first 300+ yard Broncos passer in a WIN since September 19th, 2021 (T.Bridgewater at Jacksonville [3-14 that yr], with rookie T.Lawrence in his 2nd start).

  21. Dakota Prescott, Maholmes, Stafford, and Mayfield all went down against the Eagles D. If they were fortunate enough to get a TD, they also threw for an INT. How many have Hurts thrown in the 4 games? 0… Enough said…

  23. Lol was there any chance the Eagles would sleep on the Broncos? This is the NFL and they're clearly a good team where as although the Eagles are 4-0, they're clearly halfway up struggle street. I mean I'm a philly fan but we're not delusional, we could use some more continuity on offense.

  29. Way too much optimism too soon. Nix’s career so far has been exactly what Cam Newton said he tends to be; a very good QB until real pressure is on. Cam knew him when he was a kid. He went to some of Cam’s football camps. Pump the brakes. Beat Philly and then we’ve got something to be more optimistic about.

  33. Eagles aren’t sleeping on the Broncos or any other teams. If they lose which will eventually happen they’ll move on to the next opponent just as they did last year 👀👀
