Overreaction Tuesday: Rich Eisen Talks Bengals, Micah vs Jerry, Ashton Jeanty, Houston Texans & More

That was terrible. That was crap. That was garbage. This place sucks. Overreaction Mondays Monday on a Tuesday. All right, Christopher. Hey everybody. You guys good? We are great. I’m still I’m still just as good or fine or well as I was when we recorded overreaction Monday podcast before our Monday show. And you can get the fullon full-on version of this uh wherever you get your podcast or our YouTube channel. Please do. Please do. Still thinking about Sunday night. Uh TJ, uh the tie, I still can’t get over that we do ties in professional sports and the amount of money that’s going on with this thing. And I know Kevin Durant has my back on this, so I’m going to throw it out there. The NFL should adopt the college overtime rules. It’s way more fun. It’s way more exciting, and we get a guaranteed winner. And it removes special teams from the game. So, well, you’ve already done that by by giving a team the possession. So, ask the Dallas Cowboys if they want special teams removed from the from the ability to win a football game in overtime. How about you, TJ? Do you like do you like saying you you your your kicker doesn’t have to have anything to do with it? Does that mean that Brandon Aubrey would have no say? That’s correct. No, I don’t like that at all. We’re eliminating the tie. We’re eliminating the tie. But you also eliminating a phase of the game. That’s why I don’t like college football’s overtime. We’ve already eliminated the phase by having each team get a possession. I saw some of the comments cuz guess what? Guess what? I I I I sometimes do read the comments. I let it roll off my back unless other people, which is why I can read them. Um and and I saw uh my my opinion on on just adding five more minutes onto the overtime rule. They’re like just adopt college and then or have have after a while field goal kickers just come out and kick field goals with no rush until you until one misses. You decide the World Cup that way. What’s the difference? And that sucks too. What can I tell you? There’s going to be no perfect response to this other than the fact that the college football overtime rules removes kicking from the game. And Brandon Aubry, you know what he’s also becoming a weapon at right now? Not just a field goal, this dynamic kickoff. He is the king of bouncing it in the landing zone and making you catch it in the end zone. Y. So, you’ve got to start from the 20, which is a massive advantage. He’s a weapon for us. He is indeed. And you’re removing Brandon Aubrey from the game pretty much with this stuff. I call this an overreaction. I know I might be in the minority. Larry David has my back, too. He hates kickers. Larry David hates kickers. That’s correct. Hates kickers. He has my back. Okay. It finally happened on Sunday in Las Vegas. Guys, I know we were all excited and waiting for it. Ashton Genty had the breakout we were waiting for. Finally, he’s going to finish in the top five in rushing yards this year amongst rookies or amongst No, amongst the whole kitten kaboodleoodle. He doubled his output on the season in one game last year. Fifth in the league in rushing was Jir Gibbs at 1412 yards. Ashen Genty is going to do that again. How many yards does he have right now total? He’s got what? 28. Okay. Um, so he only needs his,200 more rushing yards. I I’ll just say this like great job. Want to see more of it. Certainly since it wins me one of my fantasy league contests cuz 282. I I I’ll just call it an overreaction. Let me see more. Man, the thing that I was pleased to see is he was out there on third down for him. More importantly, he went back to the Michael Myers stance. Anyone notice that? First three games, this Chip Kelly hunched over, hands on the knees. Good for them. They’re just like you do you, man. One game. Michael Myers. Boom. He’s back. Okay. Whatever works. You’re one and three. Let’s get into it. Let’s see what Let’s see what happens for uh They got to go to Indie this week. They got to go to Indianapolis. Just don’t turn it over. That’ll be helpful. It’s good advice. What else you got, Chris? Here’s the thing. Micah. Ma. Mhm. Jerry Jones won the Micah Parsons trade. Like, I think we need to be honest about this. Oh gosh. I think we need to have a real conversation. Like I I make fun of Jerry Jones for being old and not knowing what he’s doing for like the last 30 years. I think he nailed this one. He won this trade. This is the very definition of overreacting. First time Michael Parsons had to he had an opportunity to to shove it up Jerry’s you know where and he did not. Well, he didn’t make that tackle on deck that would have scored down. Yeah. Where was he the other 50 60 plus minutes of that game? I’ll tell you I’ll tell you zeros. I I’ll give it up to not just the offensive line, but Brian Shottenheimimer for running away from him and bootlegging away from him. There was one time where they booted into him and I think Collinssworth called it out going, you know, how about we don’t bootleg right into Micah Parsons anymore. Yeah, right. Um Jerry Jones said he can’t stop the run. I didn’t see him really do anything in that game except in overtime. Dude, let let’s just pump the brakes on making two draft picks. A this is a hot take. one that I I could see is already forming, one that I could see is not a bit for you. Um, and I also think it’s too soon. But to the the let’s let’s put it this way. I’ll give you this. The what is his major malfunction? He’s totally lost it. This is totally crazy. I don’t I can’t believe the Cowboys did this sort of thing. um reaction is now subsiding a bit and there’s now more room for this lane to widen. But I wouldn’t drive on it just yet. What else you got over there, Chris? Watching the Bengals play last night, one thing was abundantly clear and obvious. Uhhuh. We will not be seeing Joe Burrow play football until 2026. I I disagree with that. You’re going to die on this hill, aren’t you? I’m going to keep on going. It’s too early, Chris. They couldn’t block Chris. They couldn’t block anyone. It’s not too early. Rich, you want to put October deadline? It’s too early. They’ve already gotten him hurt what, three or four times in his career. He’s not coming back this season. They are looking at four and 13 in the number one pick in the draft. Too early. You better send those refunds. It’s too early. I don’t know how many times I could tell you how it’s too early, man. It’s too early. You’re two and two. Four of your next five are at home. You’re only one game behind the Steelers who were one of those teams visiting your spot. They scored three points last night. Guess what happens if they’re close enough? Burrow is not going to just sit at home saying I’m not playing behind that offensive line. He’s going to push to get back there. No, he should absolutely be saying what you’re saying he should be saying, but I’m calling this is just again it’s too early. It’s week five, man. They haven’t even played a game in it yet. And they’re not 0 and4. They’re two and two. It feels like throw and four. I understand what you’re saying. And and as of right now, we’ll talk about it more at the top of the next hour. Uh the Baltimore Sun is reporting that Lamar’s out for two to three weeks. So, there’s that. The division isn’t even over. Forget about the season. Let me tell you something if I could jump in because of what you just said. The Pittsburgh Steelers No, I mean, they sure do. They They better go get fortify their squad. I mean, it’s wide open for the No, I agree with you there. I agree with the winning. What else, Chris? No doubt. I hear you. You mentioned that there’s a report that that’s not an overreaction. The Steelers, man, this is not for you. Your yours is less of an overreaction than what Chris just said. What’s a reaction I made yesterday on the Okay, good. Flagship podcast. You mentioned that the the report out there that Lamar could be out at least this week, maybe two to three weeks. Well, they have a buy in three weeks. though the next two games injuries home for Houston and home for the Rams. Got injuries on the defensive line, got injuries in the secondary. And I just saw a team, you know, shut out, the Titans, I think the Texans are making the playoffs. Oh, I I don’t I don’t think um it’s out of the realm. Um but just one one game where they put it together against the 0 and4 one of the two 0 and4 teams in the league or three two in their conference. Crowd looked really efficient. Let’s see what they distributed the ball around. Marks looks like a star in the making there in their back field. And all the Ravens are going to hear this week is that they’re finished and John Harbaugh is going to whip whip them up. Let’s see what they do. They should win this game in Baltimore. If it’s Cooper Rush, John Harbaugh’s seat might be simmering. That’s ridiculous. That is absurd. Boy, you’re on fire right now. Check his temperature, Mike. Playoff baseball could make the playoffs. entirely possible, but right now to declare it so. Um, what’s the point to declare it so I I think that’s an overreaction as well. They’ve looked they they’ve looked um terrible in the first three weeks, but Woody Mars is a is a nice bright light right now. And if they can get the running game going, uh, and Straoud getting more balanced and he gets more protection and he could be as efficient as he was with the football as he was against the team that was first overall in the clock. I mean, the Texans are taking on the Baltimore Ravens next. And then they have a buy. They’re at Seattle on a Monday night. San Francisco, Denver, Jacksonville. I mean, they’ll have a chance to prove that they you’re right. Um, but at this point in time, not so much. I’ll just call that an overreaction. You have one more. I did not know this. That’s why he’s so nervous for the baseball game tonight. Oh, he should be here. Crochet’s pitching. Okay. Uh, we got five teams in the standings with a zero uh amongst their numbers there. We got Eagles and Bills are undefeated and we got the Saints Jets and Titans. Saints, Jets, and Titans are currently nothing but defeated. I think we are going to have a winless team longer than we have someone who’s undefeated. Oh, interesting. There. I’ll I’ll say that’s not an overreaction. I’ll buy that one. I’ll buy that one. I think the Eagles might go down this week. Well, both teams actually might go down this week. Okay. Um Okay. You’re just completely dismissing the past. Buffalo at Sunday. Uh in Buffalo. Yeah. Greg May statistically better than Josh Allen right now. Chris, I’m ramping up. I was too nice to New England yesterday. It’s just too nice. He’s playing Boston today. You got aggregated hardcore in New England. Did I really? Hell yeah. Aggregation. I love being aggregated in New England. By the way, is that a uh is that a a James Taylor song? I love being aggregated. Aggregated in New England. Pretty good. Okay. Actually, I might write that right now. From Stockbridge to Boston. Aggregated. That’s how I was That’s what I was aggregated in New England. New England. That’s pretty. Or was that or is that a Barry Manalo song aggregated in New England? The bad beast at the weekend in New England. But I I I’ll I’ll buy this one. I’ll buy this one. It’s going to be tough to see when Cam Ward and the Titans put it together or the Saints. Some of these teams are bad. Jets are too talented to be 0 and four, man. Saints might beat the Giants this weekend. I don’t know. Okay, good enough. Yeah, the Jets once they’re done in in uh in in Old England um have Carolina at home and then they’re at Cincinnati. So, and then they have a buy. Like I said, Jess can put points on the board. They certain Oh, I mean certainly if if Justin Fields can keep running it in from midfield. That play was insane. That was insane. Wow. You see that? It’s like do that more. That was Mike Vic. Do that more. I know. Yeah. Hey, you made it all the way to the end. Thanks for that. Check us out every single day streaming live on Disney Plus and the ESPN app 12 to 3 Eastern.

  1. Micah is a 3/4 Leo. He's not an end good or bad. He can't hold up at the line. I think they'll figure him out and he will get his normal 10-12 sacks
That being said, guys like him pop up every year I'm free agency for the same or cheaper cost or in the draft.
It depends how the Packers finish the next two years. Most likely the pick will land around 2 20s plus the nt. But if love falls apart or Micah gets hurt and it turns into a top 8 pick, that's bad.

  2. What if the NFL does something for when the OT period is over and the teams are still tied? They can switch to college rules for a 2nd OT, but start from a further distance away. First OT period you still get the pro format and only resort to the college format to eliminate ties. Ties are so rare already that we would only see a 2nd OT period under the college format maybe a couple times a year, at most. That makes sense to me, to use it as a last resort and further away so it's not so easy. Maybe start them somewhere between the 35 and 45.

  3. I gotta be honest I like that NFL games end in a tie. We need a sport that has that other than combat sports, and the nfl, an organized team based combat sport should have a tie. Usually its when neither team deserves a win, in the other days tie it was two teams that didnt deserve to lose which is awesome. It also makes for some crazy sports betting

  4. Overtime should be like baseball: full extra quarter and whoever leads at the end is the winner. Still tied at the end of the OT quarter? Play another one. Keep going until there’s a winner.

  5. all that remove tie quotes happening cos its 40-40. now imagine jets vs titans or new orleans 10-10 with 1 hour overtime to the win on prime time

  6. Only AFTER the first overtime in college football games are field goals not allowed. You can still kick a field goal in the 1st overtime.

  7. I can't believe anyone would be against college ot rules. Obviously from further back to start the drives, but there's no way it's not just better

  8. Overtime is simple to me. The first team that scores in overtime should be the winner. I strongly disagree with the rules now. I strongly disagree with the college rules too.

The only logical solution would be to let the first score regardless of how it is, be the winning score in overtime should

  9. Nope, those OT rules stink. Just let them tie. Both teams have an equal chance to win the game. They failed and it's a tie.

The best and only good OT rules and regular season rankings are the NHL.

  10. Micah didn't stop anything and that "sack" was nonsense. There were defenders right in front of Dak which is why he slowed down trying to figure and a way to the endzone and why Micah even got to him at all.

  11. Umm sorry buddy but Parsons saved us from losing the game!!! Had Parsons still be in Dallas Dallas would have won the game!!!! All these analysts and not a one of them have a clue what they're talking about!!!🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

  12. Brockman someone could have a kickoff return for a td. lol what you mean the nfl already eliminated special teams? Also there are still field goals or a punt return for a td.

  13. 1:20 What if they alternated 2 pt attempt/field goal attempt until one team scores and the other doesn't in the same round? It includes the whole team, should wrap it up relatively quickly, and there's no ties.

  14. Why don’t they do like they do in soccer penalty kicks. Start with a 30 yard field goal for both teams they both make it move it to 40 both make it move it to 50 if they make that move it up to 55 yards and if they both make that 60 yard field goal and then if they both make that it’s a tie. This will force teams to finally take a good hard look when drafting a kicker because most of them are just drafted to fill a hole.

  15. Brockman always finds a way to make everything either “this is the greatest!!” Or “this is the worst!!”
And RE just keeps it so mid lol.
    Perfect good broadcaster, bad broadcaster.

  16. The OT rules are fine. The second you add another five minutes to the OT period and it still ends in a tie, you’ll have the talking heads screaming for another change.
Or if you adopt the college OT rules, and a Star player gets hurt because you’re into the third, fourth or fifth OT, they’ll be caterwauling about player safety. Leave the OT rules as they are and shut up about it.

6:25 Does the name Andrew Luck ring a bell?

  17. Each team getting a possession doesn't eliminate special teams, as both teams are guaranteed to receive the ball, which often will be either through a punt or through a second kick off which is now guaranteed, unless the first possession goes 10 minutes or there is a turnover of course
