Cameron Maybin fumes over ‘unacceptable’ Yankees treatment of Jazz Chisholm Jr

It was stupid, what was even more stupid was if you’re using him as a platoon why did you put him and not have Rosario face Chap, you knew he was the next pitcher in.
Not hitting Rice for Wells in the 8th, using Weaver when he’s been awful for weeks; This team is so moronic it’s amazing. Hopefully dumb dumb has lost the room and he’s finally out of here after this disaster of a season.
BaBoone claims to have his players back but actions like this show he really doesn’t. He has zero faith in his players. He doesn’t have faith in Fried to push past his limit. He doesn’t have faith in Chisholm.
Yet at the same time, he’s trying to overcompensate by being too nice to shitty players like Rosario.
Could you imagine Dave Roberts sitting Shoei Ohtani or Freddie Freeman because there’s a lefty on the mound? Dude, you are a professional athlete. If you struggle against lefties, FIGURE IT OUT. I know it’s not the reason because Jazz didn’t play, but I can’t stand anymore this Yankee philosophy.
If Jazz throws a big enough fit, can we have a personnel change? Please Jazz, crash out!
Jazz would have struck out 3 times against Crochet. Y’all aren’t being honest.
He didn’t even use Jazz as a PH platoon lmao.
Dumbfounding decisions last night. Truly.
Can Rosario play third?
If they wanted his bat vs Crochet, it probably made more sense to put him at third and have Jazz at second with Cabby as a PR off the bench.
But what do I know?
Boone tried to out-manage Cora by starting all his righties and, as usual, got exposed as the idiot he is.
I think alot of Boone’s decision are Cashman. I really like Boone but he’s a goner
But it’s right in front of us!
It’s always something
I mean he’s right, he’s just right. Who the fuck benched a 30/30 player who is also the best second baseman in the AL in the first game of the playoffs? ONLY Boone would do this, this wouldn’t be entertained by any other team.
Rice: 104 wRC+ vs L
Jazz: 106 wRC+ vs L
Grisham: 88 wRC+ vs L
Wells: 100 wRC+ vs L
If you are looking for your best hitters against lefties then why is Grisham out there. Wells for Rice is a little more understandable but Jazz not playing while Grish is in makes no sense.
We need to let go of Cashman and his whole analytics team
I guess whole team forgot we have Jazz and Rice?
Can we bring back Joe Torre? Is that an option?
Are we sure Maybin didn’t “unload”?
It’s crazy that the Yankees fuck over their good players like Rice and Jazz in the biggest games of the year. It’s even crazier that they do this while bending over backwards to unwaveringly accommodate their shit players like Donaldson or Verdugo. How do you make the wrong decision on both ends of the spectrum like that.
A big part of the argument here is around stats, lefty-righty splits, and what not. We look at wOBA, wRC+, batting average, strikeouts, etc. You can make the argument around stats a lot of different ways.
What I think gets overlooked in this criticism about the *manager* is that he benched a **starter** who was a cornerstone of your offense for a career utility guy. To feature some stats, we’re talking about Jazz–career 12.3 bWAR over 579 games, and a 3.4 bWAR in 2025– being benched for Rosario– career 10.3 bWAR over 1003 games, and 1.7 bWAR in 2025.
That shit damages a clubhouse in a crucial moment where everyone needs to have focus, have faith, and actually like each other.
You’re putting undue pressure on Rosario while suggesting you can’t trust Jazz with lefties (or whatever logic). So, when they bring Chapman back out in a high leverage situation, Jazz is going to have it in the back of his mind that they benched him for situations just like that. Chip on his shoulder, possible over-swings, and risking your player simply being not composed in the box.
It’s the literal **man management** that Boone sucks at, not just the roster management (though the two go hand-in-hand).
This is the same front office that thought Jahmai Jones leading off with JD Davis batting cleanup was a serious lineup.
Boone managed himself into a loss by pulling Fried. Cora stuck with Crockett until his closer which is what that game called for.
I’m also fuming. It was dumb as fuck
I don’t think the FO realizes what it does to your players, what it says.
Look at their treatment of Jasson this year. Yeah you’re a switch hitter, but we won’t let you face lefities. Then what are we doing? Just make him a lefty hitter and let him learn how to hit lefties that way.
Lefty Righty match up over your best players. I’m a righty. Put me in. I’ll have a better chance against Crochet than Ben Rice.
It’s the playoffs so ya know let’s overthink everything and not do what got us here. Boone. Just fn play the best players.
You can tell how upset Jazz was yesterday, pretending to be going through his clothes during the interview. You just have to hope it doesn’t impact his mental health for tonight’s game
