The Oilers aren’t heartbroken, they’re determined | 1-on-1 with Connor McDavid and Zach Hyman
All right. Ready? In your experience, what is the best and worst? Oh, it’s all about me. We’re we’re going all signed in Edmonton. What do you remember thinking? I remember feeling how pumped I was, but I remember calling you in the car and I’m like thought it was going to be like a recruiting call, you know, thinking, “Oh, it’s great.” You know, blah blah blah. like, “Oh, I already signed.” I’m like, “Oh, perfect. Okay.” Like, and then just feeling like uh we were buddies from uh for a long time, you know? It never even met you before, but it felt like we were buddies from uh Yeah. And you took me in for a couple weeks. Yeah, we were roommates for a little while when you were getting set up, so obviously uh it’s fit in well. Here is McDavid walking in. McDavid pass in front. They score. Zack Heyman, what is the best and worst part of playing on a line with me? This is the best and worst part. The best part. The best part is just how hard you work. How hard you for check. Get a lot of pucks back for us. Give me the worst part. The worst part. What’s the worst part? I don’t know. There’s not much. There’s not much bad. Um I don’t know. The worst part is when you’re getting hit by bouch bombs in the nose. That’s for sure. Yeah, that’s that’s not fun. Bushy, stop. I’ve written three books. Do you know any of them? And if you do know any of them, which is your favorite? You’re putting me on the spot here. Yeah. Yeah. We just get categories. You know, I don’t have any kids, so I’m not reading kids books. Um, so I don’t know them, but you know, if and when that time comes, I’ll for sure be Oh, they’ll be delivered at your door. I’m right here. Oh, wow. Look at this. Okay. Well, just based on the cover, which one is your favorite based off of the covers? Okay. You got the hockey one. Okay. Did you draw these two? No, I didn’t. No, you know, I can’t draw. I mean, the hockey one obviously is good, but I’d like to see the read the magician’s secret. There you go. Promoting the books. What’s this one about? Imagination. It’s actually It’s probably my favorite one of all. That’s your favorite one? Yeah, cuz it’s not sport related. So, have you always been like a writer? A little bit. Yeah, I I love school. Yeah, I love reading and then I love writing. of won a competition grade 8 and I think anytime you’re good at something you want to continue to pursue it and and I loved it and then now I got kids obviously and don’t have time to write as much but more importantly which one’s Theo’s favorite uh this one yeah he’s not in hockey yet but Benny Benny boy’s favorite Benny follows Theo so whatever he wants whatever he likes whatever he likes here’s McDavid out in front score Leon Tricle the Oilers win game one. You’ve been in Edmonton your whole career. What would it mean to you to bring a cup back to Edmonton? I don’t know. I don’t even know how to answer that. I mean, obviously, we’ve been getting close and we’re still hunting it, but I think everybody knows what it would mean to to our group, everybody, you know, that’s been there. I mean, you and I talk about a lot, so whatever you want to share, but the last few years have been hard. Obviously, we get to the finals and we lose. So, what do you think our group has learned over the last few years that we can bring into this coming year? Well, I think we’ve learned a lot. I think, you know, just cuz you lose in the final doesn’t mean that there’s not wins, you know, um, for sure. I think everybody thinks about the Oilers as this like heartbroken team, but that’s not true at all. You know, we’ve had a lot of success over the last number of years in our runs and stuff like that. We’ve won a lot of playoff series. We’ve won a lot of playoff games. Um, we know how to win when it matters. Um, so yeah, I think that narrative that we’re this heartbroken group that’s just, you know, devastated is not even close to to to to reality. I think we’re the most motivated group in the league. Um, yeah, we’ve learned lots. Um, I think it’s only motivated us more, which I think is a dangerous thing.
Edmonton Oilers teammates Connor McDavid and Zach Hyman chat about the Hyman’s skill with the stick and with the pen, and about why the Oilers are hungrier than ever.

Love these 2
My favorite part was at the end.
How about asking him when is he gonna re-sign…
it's sad that they are going to be seperated next season
Ingram going 82-0, .998 SV%. Heard it here first baby!
Sounds like cope. Going to the finals twice and having a 0-2 record would demoralize anyone. It’s normal
Good luck this year boys bring a cup home for us all❤
Back to back Western Conference championships and longest winning streak in this history of the western conference.
Sadly no Canadian team will ever win the cup again. The NHL is an American league and has been ever since Bettman took over in 94. He allows them to go to the finals every few years but never two Canadian teams EVER. THIRTY ONE YEARS IS NOT A CONSPIRACY. He really wants McDavid and Matthews to play for American teams so they probably figured out by now that they will never win a Stanley Cup playing for a Canadian team. He was hired by the owners to increase revenue for the American teams and to keep the cup in the US which he has lived up to. Anyone who disagrees is naive – The NHL is an American league first and foremost. Prove me wrong!!!!
Love These Two!! 💙🧡 🥰😍
So excited for mcdavid to sign his next oilers contract
I love McDavid’s last answer and I completely agree. They are not defined by the shortfalls in the finals, but the incredible work that brought them there. Can’t wait for this coming season
That last answer just pumped me up for this season !
This was awesome!! Is there more coming?
