Everything I hear from Brewers coaches and front office officials is that Jacob Misiorowski will make the cut when the NLDS roster is unveiled Saturday. I wrote about that today for MLB dot com, and thought I’d share it here to see what people think.

Would you trust Miz in a big spot of a playoff game? Here’s the story: https://www.mlb.com/news/jacob-misiorowski-brewers-nlds

  1. Thanks for posting u/adammccalvy

  2. No I don’t trust Miz in a high leverage situation. He needs to be relegated to mop up duty or when we have a big lead.

  3. I basically don’t trust him in high pressure situations. Only spot I would put him in is if we are up a boat load. Just to keep giving him some experience in the majors. He will be a quality starter next year, it was just too soon for him.

  4. Innings eater this time around. He’s a kid, and it started to show. Hopefully we don’t need him! 😂

  5. Shocked he is. Really thought he wouldn’t, but I guess it was probably between Hall, Anderson, and Miz for the last 2 spots.

    I’m guessing:

Peralta, Priester, Quintana, Miz, Megill, Uribe, Koenig, Ashby, Mears, Myers, Patrick, Rob Z, Hall.

  6. Honestly I don’t know. I started writing something and then stopped. I don’t know where you pitch him in a playoff series because it’s always high stakes. Maybe if there’s a blow out on one side or the other.

  7. We’re going to have a bullpen game at some point so after the opener goes an inning or two, let him rip.

  8. What he’s done this year in terms of building up innings at the MLB level, has been incredible. I wouldn’t want to risk injury in high leverage situations. Many rookie starters are shut down for the playoffs for this reason.

  9. I have done a full 180 on this and I am probably the only Brewers fan in the world thinking this and probably I am crazy but I would have him start Game 3.

Get Meyers, Patrick, Gasser whoever you want up and warm with him so if he gets into trouble and starts walking batters then you can pull the plug immediately. He has by far and away the best stuff of any option to get you a bit of length and he has shown an ability to run through an elite line up.

The optimist in me, and I am very pessimistic person, has a vision he goes 4.2 gives up two hits, a couple of walks with 7 punch outs and no runs as the Brewers win Game 3 and advances to the NLCS.

  10. I feel like why chance it. We have others in the bullpen that can do the job. It’s probably too much too early for him.

  11. Sounds like the experts who know him far better than any fan (or journalist?) have decided he makes the roster. It appears they think he is capable of growing from the experience, particularly if he fails. There is a known risk with him when things go sideways regarding composure and control, a consequence of where he’s at in his development. And, a trait we have not witnessed in Gasser or Hall with a similar frequency. A clean inning with a quick hook is the ideal scenario based on his recent performances. If they are leaving Hoskins off the roster and going with Lockridge on a 14 pitcher and 12 player roster then there is a spot for Miz as a power right hander in a middle inning bridge role. There is no easy decision here. I have been wondering for a while now about his control in bull pen sessions versus live batters, is it the game pressure that causes him to begin to miss badly when things don’t go right? Is there any way they could begin running him through some simulated leverage situations against live hitters? I think the kid develops and becomes a significant part of the team’s future and want whatever the experts think is the better pathway to get him to that point whether he is on the roster this season or not.

  12. He walks people way too often to be trusted right now. He needs to develop more control before he can be utilized regularly.

  13. The only time he should pitch is when the team is down and you need someone to eat innings.

Frankly, I think they should sit him and work with in the off-season. Get his head screwed back on and dial in that fastball.

  14. Frankly, wherever the team decides to put him. We have IMO the best pitching lab in baseball. Time and time again this team churns out pitching talent that just shouldn’t exist. Devin Williams and Josh Hader basically vanished after they left, despite being basically the best closers in the MLB when they got traded.

Who seriously expected Quinn Priester to be what he is now once landing on the Brewers?

If the staff decide that Miz is in the starting rotation, that’s where he belongs.

  15. no, hell id have probably kicked him down to AAA coming back from his injury for as long as i could…Miz looks uncomfortable at times on the hump, and its showing in his play

  16. The kid has a ton of potential and I think it would be a disservice to him to use him right now. His confidence has taken a beating and the risk of him having a bad outing right now is too great. Keep him on the roster in case we’ve got a huge lead or deficit so it’s a low stress situation.

  17. He’s easily rattled if things don’t go his way. Bloop hit or a borderline call, he loses his composure. Not ready for primetime.

  18. I would not put him in any critical situation. If we are up alot then I would put him in to get experience but if its a close game no.
