Postgame vs VGK (9/26): Ryan Warsofsky

How do you feel about the way the team managed the momentum swings tonight? I don’t think we ever got the momentum, so didn’t manage it much. So, what moments tonight kind of define tonight’s game? Just disconnected all over the ice. Um, yeah, very low level of execution and a big disconnect. Looked like, you know, on a tough night looked like a guy like Ethan really car had a positive night. Can you can you say, you know, with with him what stood out to you with his Yeah, his legs legs. He was trying um tried to get in the for check, tried to create uh did some good things tonight. He’s probably one of our better players. Who else stick out to you tonight in maybe a tough game. This is chance to maybe reevaluate some some resiliency in a sloppy night maybe. Uh I’d say Ascar would be the only other one. I mean, does that give you confidence? I mean, he’s guy that you’re looking to see take that next step. Is this a good first step just to see in person like he had a good summer type thing? Yeah, and we’ve seen it u before. So, got to do it again tomorrow. What’ you think of uh Carson watching his first pro performance? Yeah, it was good. I mean, did some did some things. Obviously, the pace is a lot higher than he’s used to. Uh the guys are bigger, stronger. Thought he’s trying to do the right things. Um good learning experience for him. Is that the biggest thing he can gather from this? Just to kind of up his pace for a higher level. Yeah, that’ be the number one thing probably. You know, Cards, he’s one of the guys trying to fight for a job here and he does have one of your better nights when the team wasn’t what you wanted to be. What does that show you about his mentality here with the couple weeks left in the training camp? Yeah, I think there’s jobs to be made and I think he understands that. I wish more guys understood that tonight. And Demetri had a great shot from the point that went in. Are you trying to give him and some of these other guys that didn’t come in defensively the green light to shoot more here? Yeah, we want to, you know, bring pucks to the net and create. Obviously, we didn’t have a lot lot of action on that side of the puck. So, um, but yeah, it was a a good probably our one good play of the night. Disappointing. Disappointing. You guys had such a momentum in camp. Seems like things were going really well. Tonight, just kind of falling flat a little bit. Just disappointing from perspective to see. Yeah, we took probably took a step back, you’d say. Um, but, you know, the world’s not coming to an end. We got to move forward and it’s training camp. Learn from it, move forward. um get better on Sunday. The penalties tonight, you know, how much of that just killing momentum any you guys may try to have tonight? Yeah, it’s not good. You can’t, you know, be in the belly box pretty much half, you know, half a period sometimes and like the ones that we just hook and we don’t know where our stick are and yeah, it can’t happen. When you have the backtoback games against the same opponent, which one is the more of the learning u period, the loss or the win? I think either way, I think when you fail, you you either learn or you you know, you you don’t learn. So, we got to learn. What did you think of Michael Misa and Sam Dickinson tonight? I thought Me tried to do some good things. Um just couldn’t we just couldn’t really create much. Um but he’s in the he’s in the right spots. He’s trying. Uh he’s trying to get more engaged physically. Um we’ll look at the film. You know, I thought Sam had some moments where we, you know, you could see the potential and the things that we’re asking him to do and there’s some moments we need to learn from. Is any of the disconnect expected because of the movement of the roster and things aren’t really solidified or is it where you you’re not going to accept that because you are setting a higher standard. Um, I think it’s a little bit of both. Um, obviously there’s a little bit change in some systems that we’re doing that we’re trying to work through. Uh obviously our lines have changed quite you know often through dayto-day. Um but at the end of the day you got to compete. You know that team did not have many NHL players over there and they out competed us. They outworked us. Uh there were guys you would have their team’s pretty much set in Vegas. Um and you would think that there’s 20 jobs available. That’s the way I would just watch that. What’s the message on uh Sunday when you guys are back in practice? Going right back to fundamentals. Uh, I feel bad for the guys that didn’t play. Um, because we got to go back and understand what it takes to compete in the National Hockey League. And we’ll work on that someday.

  1. I turned it off after the first period and a half. Guys gotta move their feet more. I caught Misa coasting through multiple zones time over time. Dickinson looks like the one with the most potential to me, but man even against AHL talent Misa was just not skating hard at all. That has to change. Just seemed sluggish for most of the guys in all honesty. Have to get more shots on goal. 29 shots to 14 from an AHL equivalent Vegas team is just embarrassing honestly.
