Miami Heat Make GENIUS Decision With Nikola Jovic!
We got great news to discuss here on the Heat Report. Nicole Yoic has been extended by the Miami Heat. We have talked about this and how this is a possibility before the season and the deadline to extend Yoic before the year begins was October 20th. And then they had the table discussions until a further date. Well, there is no need for that. Sham Shirana had the breaking news just about 30 minutes ago that Nicole Yovic has agreed to a 4-year $62.4 $4 million rookie contract extension with the Heat. This is an awesome decision. I think this is a genius move by the Heat and Pat Riley. And we are going to discuss everything and why I believe that. But make sure you are subscribed to the channel because we talked about a Yoic extension and we bring you every single piece of Heat news, breaking news, rumors, training camp stuff. We got you covered here at the channel. So, hit that sub button. But another reason why I think this is just so smart is this is an ascending basketball player. I have been screaming from the rooftops for about a couple years now how talented Nicole Yoic is and what he could bring for the Miami Heat. Do I think he has all NBA superstar potential? No, I do not think that. I am not delusional. But could he be a highlevel rotational player and impact guy without a question in my mind? And this is a guy who every year of his career has improved. Now, the one thing that he has to work on is being available for the Miami Heat. He has not been able to do that. In the last two seasons, he has played just 46 games in each of those two years. Obviously, in 23-24, started in the G-League, got called up, gets a rotational spot, and gets hurt up and down, but wasn’t really a consistent player. And then last year, he was called upon to be a key rotational guy. and he unfortunately had injuries in the beginning of the year and then obviously suffered that hand injury that kept him out for the final two and a half months of the regular season. So, if he’s able to stay on the floor, this is something that I really, really like. And I’ve talked a lot about a Nicole Yoic extension and what I would be willing to give him. I floated out a three-year $45 million deal over the past month or so that gave Yoic 45 million. It gave him 15 per season and they locked him in Miami for three seasons after the final year of his rookie contract, which is this season. Miami evidently really believes in Yoic even more than I did, which I thought was a fair deal that I gave Nicola because that deal is obviously worth 15.51 million per season, four years, which means Nicole Yoic, barring a trade, is going to be a part of the Miami Heat for five seasons at bare minimum this year. and then four more years on top of his extension. And Anthony Chang of the Herald reported there is no option in Yovic’s extension. So there’s no team option, there’s no player option, which means he is guaranteed to be in Miami, like I said, regardless of a trade for the next five seasons. And this really fires me up. I want your one word on the Nicola Yo Nola Yoic extension. Pin comment, go down. What is your one word on the Yovic extension? My one word, I’m elated. That is my one word. I think this is something that Miami should have done. I talked about it the ton. Said he’s an ascending basketball player last season. Averaged 10.7 points per game. Um shot efficiently from the field, 44 45%. But we know what he did the year prior. He shot 40% from beyond the ark, 45% from the field. There is just not many players in the NBA that can provide you what Nicola Yoic can. There are just not many players that have the size of Yoic. 610 with the IQ, the ball handling, the passing, and the ability to space the floor. Like, if we’re just going to be honest here, and I know this is a weird comparison, Nicole Yoic is like the opposite of Ben Simmons. And Ben Simmons went first overall, right? He went first overall 610 ball handler point4 type of guy that was excellent in terms of both sides of the floor at least at college high school at LSU and was a very good defender. Now Nicole Yoic does everything that Ben Simmons could do offensively in terms of creating with the ball in his hands, but he’s a better shooter than Ben was and obviously Simmons was a better defender. But Yoic is improving year after year after year. And I just want to really hammer home the point. This is a 22year-old kid. Like he was drafted at 18 and this is his fourth year in the league. Like he is still growing. Like you could argue he is not fully matured yet. He’s got another four or five years until his prime. They say you hit your prime peak condition at 27 28 years old. So he’ll be entering his prime after this contract. The Heat believed this is a guy that can be a part of this organization and be a cornerstone type of player and that is why they gave him this contract and I fully believe it as well and I’m excited that he’s locked into Miami for the next five seasons. Now the next conversation that we got to have is what is his role going to be this season? I think there is a large topic at hand in terms of who is going to be in this heat starting lineup. I have been at the forefront raising my hand arguing that Nicole Yoic should be in the starting five. And I always talk about this and I do want to make this abundantly clear. I don’t think the starting group is really that important in the grand scheme of the season. It’s all about who is giving you the most impactful minutes and who is playing late crunch time minutes when it’s a five-point game with five minutes to go. I expect Yoic to be on the floor in that time. So, I don’t really care if he starts or comes off the bench. I just think the Heat team would benefit from more of an offensiveminded lineup to start the season. And I think Yoic is the perfect man for that plan, especially with Tyler Hero hurt for the first month with that foot injury because you have to assume Miami is going to insert DaVon Mitchell into the starting lineup to replace Tyler Herro, creating a backcourt of Mitchell and Powell. Yes, DaVon can do a lot of nice things, but he doesn’t have anywhere close to the creation ability that Tyler Herro possesses. So, you’re going to have to lean on Norman Powell to do that. But by putting DaVon Mitchell in a lineup, you aren’t going to have two guys in the back court that can create for themselves and others. So, you’re losing a little bit of playmaking in that starting five. And to me, if you’re starting where Bam and Wiggins in the front court with that back court I just mentioned, you aren’t going to maximize your front court of bam and wear because you do not have the adequate creators in the pick and roll to set themselves up, collapse the defense, kick it out for shooters, but also find Bam and wear inside the paint for easy rim runs and lob opportunities. I think Yoic sliding into that starting role. Klow moving to the bench will create a better roster balance and a better stable first five because Yoic is a 38 40% three-point shooter. He could handle the ball in transition. He can rebound. He can be versatile on the defensive end of the floor with his frame. And you can switch almost everything with Wiggins, Yoic, and Bam. And I think we saw Yoic really come into his own a little bit defensively in that series against Cleveland. It was an embarrassing series. The Heat got crushed every single game and was swept and it wasn’t even competitive. But the biggest takeaway I had from that series is that one, Miami needed more offensive firepower outside of Hero and Bam. And two, Yoic was able to kind of stay in front of Max Strus at times, stay in front of Isaac Aoro, and no, those guys aren’t the most offensively gifted basketball players with the ball in their hands, but he was able to defend them at times. Yoic can play the small ball five, he can play the four, he can even play the three at times. And his positional versatility and functional size is something that Miami has invested in and they clearly believe will ultimately pay off for them long term, which is why they gave him this 4year 62.5 million extension. So I’m very fond of this move. I think Yovic should start. It also allows you to have a better balance with your bench and have Wear be that man off the uh first man off the bench potentially to either take out Yoic to either take out Bam and then you could have Yoic and Wear work together. You could have Bam and Wear still work together. Like it’s not me saying that I think Wear is not good enough to start. It’s just I think this Heat team would be better off if they went with a offensiveminded forward since they’re replacing Tyler Herro with a defensive point guard that can’t really create. But you can let me know your thoughts down in the comments section. And we’ll round the show out with this. I love the extension. I asked one word. I gave elated. If you were to ask me to grade it ABC, B, C, D, or F, I’d give it an A minus. Do I wish it was a little bit lighter? Maybe. Um 15.51, not crazy. I was eyeing 15 14 mil per season, which is fine by me. Um the question that everyone’s going to ask is what’s next for the Miami Heat, right? And that’s a fair question to ask because there’s another player that is contract extension eligible starting today, October 1st. That being Tyler Herro. He’s eligible for a three-year $149.7 million deal. He has the same deadline as Yvich did, October 20th, if that extension isn’t reached before then. They will not be able to agree to one until a later date where he can get a 4-year $22 million contract extension in the offseason. And if he were to make AllNBA, it would be then five for 360. But with him missing a full month of the season, it’s unlikely Hero would play 65 games and qualify for the AllNBA. So, you can pretty much kiss that contract goodbye. But the four-year $22 million extension is something Hero would be eligible for in the off season. I have been very much on the record saying I would not give Hero more than 40 million per year. I think a three-year for $120 million extension is very very fair for a guy who is very offensively gifted, still young, moving up the ranks in the NBA, but has a lot of deficiencies in his ability to defend and be a playoff player. So, that’s what’s obviously next for the Heat. Do they get a hero extension done? We’ll ultimately see. If they do, we’ll have you covered. So, subscribe. Make sure you follow me on Twitter as well because I broke the news over there on the Yovic extension before coming on here and making a video. So, appreciate everybody who watched. I’ll see you with a video tomorrow. Go Heat.

oh hell yeah, love it
OVERPAID & hasn't done 💩 yet for the Heat.
That’s unbelievably good for us. We could have a 26 year old Jovic, 4 years improved, in his grown man body, only taking up 15 million of cap sheet. The space that will afford us to bring in other stud players on big contracts is HUGE.
It could honestly turn out to be the best contract in the league over a 4 year span.
Steal
Heck Yes that's amazing. I Love it.
Excellent deal. Time for him to step up now!
This was risky extension however I agree with it. It may have to be reconstructed tho cuz now cap space is limited to sign a superstar
Win – for both sides
I dunno why you think his ceiling is so low. Tyler was just an all Star. Jovic’s ceiling is WAY higher than Tyler Herro’s current form and I don’t even think that’s a tiny bit debatable.
LETS FREAKIN GO!! Thats a bargain. The #PointJovic era is here. Future All-star. Should/Will start and finish games. 🔥🔥🔥
Future All Star
Niko was given the toughest defensive assignment in the Euro league
Next up is Powells discounted extension
Boom 💥
Jovic is a decent role player, not a starter. Frankly I think Larsson has a heigher ceiling.
Get ahead of a future problem thank you👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽 I lowkey want to keep Wiggins seeing how he contributes after this season
I wouldve gone $12M a year.
Meh. Hope he change my mind
So you bench ware when he had a better rookie season than Jovic ever had?! This is why the heat sucks and won’t win a ring for another 10+ years. Finally get a young good big and we bench him for a player who can’t guard bigs, always hurt and has no position. I’m over this team
If Jovic deserve a contract then Herro do too. At his number. I mean, what did Jovic accomplish last year compared to Herro?
Good, Jovic is not greedy. 😊
He’s improved his game every year unlike. Ben Simmons
Well deserved 🔥
Happy for him in the long run. Let's go Heat🔥
Can Jovic beco.e a better player than Michael Poter Jr? I think Jovic has higher upside due to his skill set.
You can always start Jovic at the point guard.
That’s a steal
They're just wasting money
Jovic Dude!!!!
👏👏👏. Great for everyone. So happy he locked this in. Fans are going to talk so bad about him when he starts next to Bam because it won’t work. But next to Ware he’ll be unlocked. So now he can play without stress regardless of the lineups.
You don't give enough credit to mitchell and wiggins to distribute to the big men, and we got dru smith is a baller also. Niko will start soon enough, I just know Ware is ahead of him regardless how you want to spin it starting or not. Spo apparently has issues consistently with centers so who knows but I know Ware is way better this early in the careers to both of them
