New York Yankees vs Boston Red Sox | AL Wild Card Game 2 Highlights
Carlos Rodon has been great this year and he continues to evolve. Used to be just a two- pitch pitcher, very much a four pitch pitcher and it served him well right there. You see he can still strike you out. The walk rate’s pretty close to average. One, two, and got him. Two, two, he’s gone. Back-to-back punch outs to start for Rodon as he gets Ref Snider and Story. Bregman pops this one up sky high to left and Bellinger and a one two three inning for Carlos Rodon. Well, this is certainly their A lineup that’s going to face Brian Beao in there and Beo on the year had a solid year. He’s not a strikeout guy. He’s a sinker guy. You see that K rate well below major league average. So he’s a he’s a ground ball guy, a contact guy. Bellinger finds the hole to the right of Sogard in the first hit of the night for Bellinger and the Yankees. He’s aboard with two down. Ellinger in his postseason 14 of 15 when it comes to stolen bases. And now Ben Rice, he swings and hits it hard to right. And Ben Rice is back. And the Yankees are on the board. A two-run home run off Beo to get it started. The kid from Cohasset, Massachusetts, steps on home and lives out a dream. The team he rooted for as a kid, the Yankees. And it’s two nothing with two outs. How about that cutter? 87 miles per hour, Con right into the wheelhouse. And Ben Rice was not waiting around. Every Yankee hitter swung at the first pitch in this inning so far. And they needed it because of the dominance that Brian Beo has had at this stadium. There he goes. Carlos Rodon. He is face six. He has struck out half. He threw six. All of them were first strikes. What an inning. Nick Soggard. He had that big hustle play to get into second with the double. Squares to Bunt. Sends it back to Rodon. He’s got a play. He bounced it. Chisum came off the bag to catch it. And they will be loaded. And that’s a start. He picks up a strike out of Ref Snider. And that one is up the middle. It’s going to get down. Christian Fields and he will throw it into third base. We are tied. Trevor Story delivers an RBI that plates two on that single. Bregman Schis fires to Fulpy to first. Nice double play by the Yankees to end the threat that the Red Sox were putting on. And that one is into right field. A change up. He was all over. And the nine-hole hitter leads off with a single. That one is on the ground. Soggard smothers. He goes to Story who has to leaprog over McMahon. And they get one. Wine shot up the middle. Going to get down in front of Raphael. And Judge is not yet hitting for power, but he is getting on base. He is making a change. saw this in the game they clinched their playoff where he came out in the fourth and started to make changes. He does it here in the third. Is going to third. No throw. Armas can’t hold it. Judge advances to second. One and two to Bellinger. Reaches out. Sends it to left. Fairly shallow. Durant has it. There’ll be no tag. Good call by Louis Rojos. [Applause] and Rice on a line to right. It stays up and it’s caught by Nate Eaton. Ben Rice has hammered the ball twice. One of them out of the ballpark and the other one into the glove of Eaton. That lands on the corner and he’s gone. He doesn’t necessarily agree with Scott Barry, but Rodon picks up another strikeout. That’s six. Ref Snder. Judge coming hard. Chism going out quickly, but it’s Judge in foul territory. And the screen there to support him. A good running catch for the man we were just talking about. And that one missed badly. Non-competitive pitch. And that brings up Judge with one on and two down. And this will be Slayton’s last hitter if he gets him or not. He’s got to put all he has into a tall task wearing number 99 and the fans here know it. [Applause] It’s a problem and that one gets away. The throw to second and it’s caught there in a short hop by Soar. But now we scoring position with first base open. Judge lifts it to left. Duran running, drops the ball. Gisham will score and the Yankees have the lead. Jiren Durant had it in his glove and it popped out. Don’s pitch count is pretty efficient. 72 here into the sixth inning behind two and0 story. Swing and a drive left field. Bellinger back. Gone. That’s high to Bregman and Rodon frustrated perhaps after giving up that shot. Here comes the manager of the New York Yankees. [Music] and pops this one up on the infield. Rice has to retreat to first. He was drifting and Narvas hits one the whole of third. McMahon fires Chisum to first and they turn a 543 double play. Aaron Boon sticks with Carlos Rodon and that pays off. And this is a troubling play for Bregman. Bare hand fires. No chance. A great effort, but Ben Rice instead of hitting at a 100 miles an hour squibs one off his bat for a hit. Raphaela shaded a little bit towards left. That one goes into left field. Sinker. They let travel deep. And now both Rice and Wells gone the other way. Rice unintentionally. The 3-2 pitch coming and he saw him off. A sword to end the inning as Vulpi couldn’t commit. From 3 to a strike out and a bark from Zack Kelly reared its head last night and on four pitches, a walk to Nate Eaton and that one hit him. It’ll be first and second. You’re going to send Eaton back and that would do it for Carlos Rodon as he nearly hit him on the prior pitch. He drills him there. Eight pitches and eight balls. Runners at first and second and Cruz coming in. Oh, you’re putting you’re putting the pressure. He’s going to bunt. You got to make the defense play. You got to move those runners over. And Cruz is the next pitcher for the New York Yankees in a difficult spot to inherit. popped it up right to the former shortstop who looked like a former shortstop. The way he reacted after that catch and Raphaela who has been a hero in this series with his ability to draw walks cannot lay the bunt down. Soggard sends one to left field and Bellinger there to make the easy play and Cruz comes in and gets two big outs. [Applause] Cruz delivers this one to Chism. Diving play off he throws. Save the ball gets away from Rice but not far enough and Eaten stays at third. A riskreward play by Chisum to make the throw and Yoshida diving into first. The bases are loaded in and third. Duran at second. Yoshida at first. [Applause] Story sends one high and deep to center field. Gisham on the track is there to make the play. And look at Fernando Cruz. They got Raphaela to pop it up to him to start the thing. And a 400 ft fly out with the bases loaded to end it as Rodon hoping hoping it stays. It did. And nobody had a better reaction than Fernando Cruz. what this game means to him and what that moment meant to him. Hard to put into words. Williams has been like most of the bullpen arms. At times great and at times not so great. Another change up and that one is down. Ballinger makes a nice stab at it to keep Bregman at first. Back up the middle. Fielded cleanly. He’ll throw high to Fulpy and Anthony Fulpy does a great job to come down on the base and make the throw to first to double up low. Good adjustment. Catch the ball first, land on that bag and in one motion throw the feed. A good feed back to Rice. Fooled there and that one almost hit Eaton who had a dive out of the way of the flying bat. He is slow to get up. You don’t see that very often. Lock for his career had been a starter trying to stay healthy. They moved him to the bullpen and he issues the walk to Chisel. Now you have elite speed at first base. The Yankees have done their damage tonight. Both their rallies started with two outs and all four series runs have come with two outs. all over it but fouled. Got sick grin. He did go that time and we are full the 3-2. Fouled off. [Music] Went with a 95 mph sinker. India set him up for a change up away. I would seventh pitch of the at bat coming to Austin Wells and he lines one into right field. Fair ball. Chism to third. He’s being waved. Eaton coming home. Here’s the throw. He’s safe. And the Yankees have a lead on Austin Wells. Single and the speed of Chisum. A bang bang play and a great throw from Eaton. You cannot replace speed. The Jazz Chisum able to go with two outs on the pitch. Change up. Beautiful slide. A two out rally set up all via the walk. First run allowed by Whitlock in 14 games. A nominal game last night. Bases loaded, nobody out. The Red Sox hang on. Here’s Bednar now trying to hold on for the Yankees. William Abrau will pinch hit. The Yankees 32-1 when leading entering the ninth facing postseason elimination. Bedar’s first pitch misses. [Music] lands that one is a tremendous defensive player, but he also has some pop. 22 home runs on the season. Big swing right there to try to tie it. 98 mph sinker, but the count goes full. And he delivered a 97 mph heater to strike out. Will you’re a brave [Applause] cold strike three frozen. 98 back-to- back punch outs. One out away from forcing a game three. And now Raphael off speed way out in front of a curve ball. [Applause] He went and this one is driven to right. Judge going back. still back right there at the wall and redemption for the Yankees. They win it 43 and there will be a game three in this wildcard series down. Yo, what’s going on everybody? Dan here. WHAT A GAME!!!
Thanks Boone for starting the two players you benched last night to only lead us into a win tonight… I think he will bench Rice tomorrow 😮
Love the shirt LFG 🔥
Yankees didn't win. Sox gave it away. Too many men stranded on base. Fun fact: Our best hitter is injured. And Sox still almost won.
hate both of these teams.
Bro the game was electric ❤. I was there an fun
Boone was bugging for benching Jazz
삭스가 이길 경길 내 줬다
LOVE Chisom slide.
What a BADASS😅
CRUZ & BENGAR PITCH
LET'S GO YANKEES 👏 ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Let's go Yankees
Well , I’ve already have said , the Yankees to me that they have one good pitcher , but their problem has been for the last three to four years to win a World Series championship , they’re gonna need pitching and to me they don’t have that ; Hitting ? Yes , but pitching shuts down good hitting ; What the dodgers did to the Yankees: So got to see what’ll happen; I don’t see them getting out of the next round and perhaps not even this round
Wild Card — SERIES???? #PROOF that this ALL about #MONEY!
The Yankees fought hard for this game. Hopefully Judge and Stanton can hit home runs in the next game. Let's go Yankees take it!!!
Jazz and Ben were great tonight, but nobody mentions Wells who had the winning hit on a 7th pitch with 2 outs, and he went 2-3 with a walk while catching a great game.
Just had to throw Wellsie a little love.
Stanton 0 for 8 now…. Where is that playoff Stanton?
I genuinely felt every emotion possible… win tomorrow, worry about Toronto later, just focus on winning! Absolutely LOVE Cruz’s emotion after that 7th. Can’t stand how people genuinely dislike that. GO YANKEES!
BOONE YOU IDIOT BEN RICE SHOULD BE PLAYING MORON
Hell of a game
We should've swept these bums if it wasn't cuz of Boone bonehead decision in taking out Fried when he was dominating smh
duran with the drop…story 10 feet from grand salami…barely safe at home 4 the winning run. rafeala to the warning track…..very close game all the way around
Big G will come up big tomorrow. He had to get hot!!!
I felt the emotions flowing out in those seats☺️☺️☺️
Partido d infarto durísimo digno d un playoffs bien por mis yankees ya empatamos la serie a seguir luchando los amo los quiero k bien ❤😂😅😊
Worth it❤
Fernando Cruz all gas no brakes. That's what any team needs to wake them up
Some VERY good defense tonight. Proud of the boys
If Dent doesn't play Ben Rice every inning of every game until next season he will have proven that he does NOT deserve to be the Yankees Skipper.
Love Cruz’s energy and passion
Now it's up to Schlittler. Welcome to the bigs.
Ben Rice bashes baseballs like they both owe him money and insulted his mama. You can’t not have his bat in the lineup. Righty or lefty starter shouldn’t matter anymore.
Best of all the Yankee Highlight producers! Dan is THE MAN! Keep working all the way to a World Series Win!
The best fiercest rivalry of all sports.
What a great all around win. Let's go Yankees. Big Cam tomorrow
Red Sox didn't win game 1 Yankees lost it. Yankees didn't win game 2 red Sox lost it.
As soon as the left fielder dropped the ball, I said to myself, "watch, they will lose by one run now." Surprise…..
