Game in 10 | Canucks at Flames Pre-Season Highlights (Oct. 1, 2025)
Here’s some 17th year playing NHL games. He’ll turn 35 on Monday and he’s part of a pretty strong Calgary lineup for this one. Both teams with certainly more representative lineups. They’ll bring the puck ahead. Try to get back to Cry. Broken up by Sherwood. He skates the other way. Puts one in the middle. Okconor in alone. Shorthanded stopped by Prosman who was able to sprawl and get the right pad down. Spice with the puck. Telegraphing passes and this is Sherwood with a lovely little saucer pass. Rachel O’ Conor went into the pads of Prosper had a short. I think they thought he was in too deep and it would have gone off the side of the net had it got past the goalender. There’s the first shot as Michael Backlin lets go from well out and Lankin in the save hangs on for the whistle. Karens shoots and getting a piece of that was Hughes to tip it off the target. Flames maintain possession. Harry all the way back to the blue line. Let’s go for the long shot off the right pad of Lincoln. He reached out to cover, but the puck was poked away by Tyler Meyers after the icing. Kyrie wins the face off. Kevin Ball at the blue line. She’s one up. Long shot stick by Kevin Lank. Shot back in. And the Conucks just moved the puck to center. Brought forward. Gritten with a shot and another stick. And now Backlin finds Coleman and he relays to Matt V. Grin who’s in on the left flick. Coleman takes his pass. Tried to return the puck and Hughes was able to pick that off. Now a lead pass and a breakaway. Brock Besser in alone. Scores. Besser to the glove side of Promatov. Spread free by Quinn Hughes. And the Canucks open the scoring here in Calgary. Besser so calm, cool and collected on breakaways with a bit of a hold initially and then right past the glove. Prosper backing in. I think he lost some of his space from the top of the blue paint. But look at this look from Quinn Hughes. Besser sprung free and at 659 in the opening period. Now it’s Farabby moving in. Turns on the boards. puts one in front jamming away as Kyrie Lankin standing his ground in the goal crease. He’s split them up on more offensive balance. He’s on this line with Frost and Coronado. Here’s a lead pass to Hubo cutting it alone. Hubernau could off the outside of the net, I think. Did they ever? This game just opened right up and Cornado’s going to put into a spot. Pardon me. Frost is to the backand goes Hoover and Lanka takes away the opportunity low on the ice. just hassled at the end. Would have been a pretty three-way passing play and it worked. But the last pass just didn’t get through. Now Meyers with a drive blocker save and the Patterson wrist shot missed the net. Might have been hoping that Nebraska would be coming above the goal line back door. Here’s Hughes. Patterson scores. What a rocket as Elias Patterson put that one home off the setup from Quinn Hughes. And the Canucks take a two nothing lead on the power play. What a shot by Patterson and the setup by Hughes. Two assists in the game. The Flames get chasing just a little bit. Rasmus Anderson reads that this pass is going to Person, but just can’t get in the shooting lane in time. And Patterson is ready to fire right on a T inside glove side post. Conucks two nothing and have a two nothing lead. [Music] Harrison will win the faceoff to start that whole power play sequence. Myers a shot tipped in. Was that Baines? Went off his body. Arch deep. Baines just cruising towards the goal. Meyers let it fly. I think Baines might be pointing at Meyers. So maybe went off the Calgary player. But Vancouver in short order here has made it three nothing. Another blast. Yeah, you’re right. It went off the Calgary stick. Cad yeah after he lost the faceoff and he was just having an AC. Calgary will go back on the power play. Their second one of the game. We tried to give the goal to our deep means initially but they did give him an assist. Here come the Canucks short-handed. Garland and Forward going to the net. There’s the pass. Scores. Shorthanded goal for Derek Forward. It’s four nothing Vancouver. [Music] Five on five. This one short-handed. Good battle off the face off. Second effort by Bluger and Derek Forward will come right in your living room and put this one past the glove across the top. Settle that puck that was a little bit wobbly and then waddled it past the goalie’s glove. We’ve talked a lot in the preseason and training camp about Adam Foot wanting to activate the things could have been a whole lot different had that turned out with a different result. Coronado power play continues for Calgary centers. What a save by Lankin off Morgan Frost. Lener have been out there a while. You need a big stop on your goalender and there trying to settle that bouncing puck. Feeds them in. Teddy Bluger couldn’t dig it out of his skates. Flames look to take advantage but oh man I thought they were offside of the blue line. Play goes on gets the puck. Gets it to Sharon Goic. He cuts towards the goal the shot. Lanking it falling down. They score on the rebound. Fabby able to pump that one home [Music] and Lankin were he gets set here and just loses an edge. Makes the stop. Cadri puts one in front and Meyers a good job to lift the stick of Sharon Goic going to the net. Back comes Max Sassin. De Brusk to Sasson scores. Little give and go from the blue line in. Jake de Brusk at the end of a long shift, but he’s able to get the puck to Max Sassin who roofed it to make it five to one. Well, that happened in a hurry there. Sharon Kovichic and then Max Sass the other way. Dump it off. Keep on going. Get it from De Brusk. And there’s another one over the glove. And the Conucks extend their lead again to four goals. 5-1 and Sassin. Good job by Ratchet to intercept the clearing attempt. Gets it around to the right point for Heronic who’s come on to replace Hughes. So two right hand shot defenseman for the Canucks. Now Ratu hit the post and the puck ricochets off the boards and out to center. Ratu. Ratu had a nice snipe in Edmonton the other night. Put that one off the pike. Now a goal from the side and it’s Ratu again. This time he puts it home as Devin Kulie on his first shot faced and unable to make the save and Atu Ratu on the power play makes it 6-1 Vancouver. Get back into the zone and Ratu I think is just trying to create a rebound here instead sneaks it right through Bouncing pass gets towards his stick. Deon thought he had everything sealed off. This is going to go near side near the elbow of a glove. Tyler Myers with a little help from Brock Besser creating some space. Patterson. De Bruss cutting it on goal. Jake De Bruss tried to I was just losing my mind in the moment. You made me second guess myself, which is never a fun feeling. I for some reason I just blank for a minute. I thought the puck had gone out of play right away, but anyway, doesn’t matter. We’re just now he separates from his man Ball who skates onto the puck for Cal. Sharon Govich trying to draw past center broken up by Garland. Canucks have a chance for a two-on-one. Here’s Bluger cutting in hit the post. Now it’s thrown in front. Loose puck and the Conucks come up with Here’s a chance for a threeonone. Brock Besser in on the right wing. Hughes to the goal. Scores. Quinn Hughes with a deep to the back end. Tucked it through the legs and the Conucks have their seventh goal and lead by six. Was that silky or what? I’m appreciating it. Hard pass to the forehand as best tracks this puck coming to him. And then Quinn Hughes all the left hand shots. Love this. When you come in, you fake like you’re going to bring it across and you just slide it. Five hole and Devin Kulie gets beaten. Quinn Hughes adds to his offense this evening and the Conucks are up 7-1. Dress to Magnets. Vancouver has really seized control. Hubardo kind of you know he ran right into Lank as he went in. The stick doesn’t hit the skates at all. Cronic bumped him but didn’t really do anything through center. Karens takes the pass. tried to go all the way across. Picked off and here’s Baines two-on-one shorthanded with Sass Baines Center. Sass scores. Another short-handed goal for the Canucks. Max Sassin has his second goal of the night and the Canucks now lead 8 to one. A smart play by Beans and then slipped it across. kept his balance there after the contact and then Sass’s able to slide it underneath the goalender. See you bottom of your screen. Sassin making sure it doesn’t go offside and then get the stick down in the bottom part of I don’t think he got much on it. No, it just steered it. There’s a puck that ricochets to the near corner as Pere tried to send it across. Coronic back into the game. Chance in front. Lank in the save just as the game comes to an end. One last stop for Kevin Lanken.

Seriously. Give Quinn a blank check. Lock that man for 10 years
I like how Calgary's only goal was about 3 feet offside
Imagine living in Alberta and having to watch the Flames what a double whammy
"pretty strong Calgary lineup" were some of the first words outta Shorty's mouth. Damn.
such a choppy feed. With all the money these teams make, you'd think they could put up a feed that won't cause a seizure to people with epilepsy. I have fibre optic internet and watching with 1080pHD and its brutal.
Give hughes 8×20. get it done Alvin
its almost like whne the Nucks shoot more than 3 times per period, they can score?
Is this in like 15 frames per second?
60 frames yeah right fix it
Definitely going to enjoy sasson's speed this year dude just glides at 100km per hour around the ice it seems
Sassons got crazy speed
Not shots for the first 7 mins then the floodgates opened. Not gonna work every night lol
ARSHDEEEEEEEEEEEP BAINS!!!!!
petterson still looks slow af not looking good.
Calgary was WAAAAYYY offside on that goal.
Calgary Flames disappointing preseason. A sign of things to come.
Congratulations Canucks!πππππππππππππππ¨π¦π¨π¦π¨π¦ππππππππ¨π¦π¨π¦π¨π¦π¨π¦πππππ
Where is Braden cootes
Did someone order an 8-1 Canucks win??
Let's go boys. Looking amazing during the preseason, love to see pretty much everyone contributing to the goals in this game, I literally cannot complain about anyone in the roster this game. Let's hope this translates to the regular season!
That backcheck by garland to stop hubeys break away when we were only up 1-0 is crazy
Quinn is going to be so fun to watch when he is a Devil!!!
Nice assist from bains in the 3rd
As a Canucks fan, something looked off with the flames. Unless the Canucks were actually playing that good.
Later bains will be a beast
Some people remind us that this is a pre-season game and means nothing. That's true, but what I'm seeing is Vancouver's best players are indeed their best and sooo far superior to Calgary's best efforts. Hopefully Hoggie's sprained ankle isn't too bad and he can be back for the start of the season in a week.
Let's GO Canucks GO!πππππππ¨π¦π¨π¦π¨π¦π¨π¦ππππ¨π¦π¨π¦ππππ
at 9:12. There is a screen tear bottom left corner. This is consistent on the sportsnet broadcast. It's been there for at least a year and a half now. constantly having a tear there in the bottom left. Just happy to confirm it isn't my tv after a year of being annoyed with it while watching Canucks hockey and not being able to reproduce it in any other context. Sportsnet, fix your feed.
That last play by Bains… THAT'S poise. Not only the way he starts the play, but the way he patiently out-waits the D and gets around him, feathering to Sasson.
It's pre-season and the Canucks clearly had the better goaltender, but that's indicative of their goaltender depth this season. They don't need to keep "trying out" the AHL crew in net at this point. Calgary though… yeah, looks like they do. Kinda feel bad for Cooley. Earlier in the first period after that 4th goal, he's on the bench thinking, "Welp, I guess I'll be in soon to stop the bleeding" only to get scored on with the first unlikely shot. LOL
I loved how the Canucks were a handful shorthanded. O'Connor had a breakaway that was stopped, and then of course the two shorties that were scored (Forbort couldn't help but smile). I like what Foote is doing with the Canucks D. As long as they're not hanging their goalies out to dry, this could be fun. And seeing Garland being the first man back during a breakaway tells me there's likely a good buy-in with the forwards on this system. Garland looked fantastic too. So glad they signed him. Canucks needed something to go right after that OEL trade.
Give Quinn what ever he wants heβs the best offensive defence man in the league.
The Canucks have some real speed. That or Calgary is really slow.
It's preseason boys. Good to see but look at the date
