Um Lefty in the chat cuz I I felt like the last two days we’re sitting there wondering if anything is going to happen. And I know we had the rumors about whether or not something was was even going to be done this year because of the lockout coming up. So, while I don’t always love celebrating someone losing their job, even if it’s the right thing, I I’m just glad the Rockies did something. They took the first step that they needed to and getting back on the right track. And it feels like a good day to be a Rockies fan. It feels like a great day to be a Rockies fan. My brother is almost back in. He said step one, I don’t know how many steps there are going to be. Maybe 10 to 12. Oh, I’ve got a ninestep recovery plan that we’re we’re going to roll out today. I love that. And you know, we were talking I was trying to talk myself into them just hiring a Bruce Bochi or a you know, just veteran manager on Monday’s show and the thought that that would fix the organization or be part of the fix of the organization. And now we’ve got this news that absolutely changes it changes the fans perspective on the organization with the very intentional use of the word external which I didn’t know that the word external was in the Rocky’s.com vocabulary anywhere in that organization. I don’t think anything’s ever been external um from the top down. So that’s an exciting exciting piece of that news that I think is very key. And yeah, they could just be words, but I don’t think that they would have just said that and not meant it. Yeah, it Walker Mom intentionally including the word external. in my perspective, seems like it’s restored some semblance of hope for this fan base because it gives you a sense of validation that everything that we as Rocky’s fans, as the media have been yelling about for years, has finally been heard, at least on paper. So, now that you’ve said it, you got to go out and do it, right? You got to give us the action. We were talking about that on Monday. And show us which direction this team is headed. It’s a good thing that they said it. They recognize that this is something that needs to happen. Uh going with an external search for the next general manager. Uh but now you got to go out and do it. Show us where you’re headed. Uh hopefully this is just the start. Um I want to kind of close the book on on Bill Schmidt cuz there were some good things. You know, I mean you probably have to go back to his scouting days to to recognize the good things. You know, he did scout and draft Nolan Aronado. Tulo was I think he was on the the board that that scouted Matt Holiday. I mean, there were some good, you know, a if you guys have been Rockies fans for a long time, Bill Schmidt aided in some of the good years of being a Rockies fan, but over the last 5 years that Bill Schmidt has been the general manager of the Colorado Rockies. Can you tell me how many losses the Colorado Rockies have had during his GM tenure? Five years, it’s at least I’m going to say 548. 504 losses that you went you actually went over. I figured you’d go under. 504 losses have been acred by the Colorado Rockies since Bill Schmidt took over in 2021. It is now almost 2026. 5 years, 504 losses. Not a legacy you want to leave behind as the GM. Uh some of the other things that have been frustrating, unwilling to rem unwilling to admit that the Rockies are in a rebuild, the stubbornness, which I think is from the top down, ownership into Bill Schmidt, um inability to make moves at the deadline. That’s another stubbornness aspect. And then of course the glaring albatross, the Chris Bryan contract, which anyone who knows the Rockies know that knows that that was probably Dick Manfort. It probably had his fingerprints on it more than it had Bill Schmidt’s fingerprints on it. But you’re the GM. You got to be able to speak up if it’s not a good move, which we all knew it wasn’t going to be and that the Rockies overpaid. Got to be able to speak up in those situations. So, uh, the Bill Schmidt, the Schmidt show, as I like to call it, is officially done. And the Rockies are are moving on. And we’re going to talk a little bit about who the Rockies could be moving on to. They did say um that it aside from it being an external search that they are going to be looking for another general manager. I don’t believe it’s going to be a president of baseball operations. I I think Rocky’s fans and myself included a little bit, I think we’re tired of seeing the same old GM label on this. I think a lot of us, even if they hold the same responsibilities and power in the organization, a lot of us want to see a president of baseball operations. From my understanding though, it looks like this is just going to be a replace Bill Schmidt with someone else into a new GM role. Yeah. And really the role and the name isn’t too critical unless giving a new hire the role of or the name of general manager allow still allows I mean Dig Monro owns the team. He’s the CEO of the team like he’s still going to make not make most of the decisions but be a a big part of all the decisions and be in the room and hearing all this stuff. But to me, I just hope that general manager doesn’t mean that he’s still like a whoever this new hireer is is still very much like way below Dick Montford and the group of guys that they’re making decisions of. President President of baseball operations feels more like Manfort’s just the money and the owner and the the bills and the, you know, the transactions. And this president of baseball operations is the guy that’s like, “Okay, no, this is what we’re going to do in terms of analytics. this is what we’re going to do for scouting. This is how we’re going to, you know, run our draft board. These are the players we’re going to scout. These are the players we’re going to sign in free agency. These are the players that we’re going to bring up and deal with the, you know, if they’re good enough, we keep them around. And if they’re not, we don’t just let them sit around and not be good enough. We go find new guys. I think the slow process, you know, as great as this pot and the fact that this Bill Schmidt reign of GM is over, it still to when we had anticipated it would take and other teams that have recently won a World Series as much as as little as two years ago is are firing people for doing a lot better job than the Rockies have basically sat and allowed since 2021. Yeah. And and the other thing for me to just kind of go back to the whole why did the Rockies wait situation because it’s Wednesday and and we we’ve already seen a press conference from the Pirates ownership and organization on their GM situation although they have been a [ __ ] show all amongst themselves. Um but we saw the the Cardinals do a press conference with their new president of baseball operations. Like it it’s still late for the Rockies. Yes, they did it. But I think what I was expecting where I was sitting here saying, “Okay, if the Rockies are going to wait however long it’s going to take, I was thinking maybe by Friday, you know, to make the announcement of what their front office was going to look like.” I actually figured they’d have a replacement already in in place. I figured that’s why it was taking a long time was they were going to say, “Hey, we already have a plan in place. We already have our guy in place. We just need to make all of these announcements and we’re going to do it all at the same time.” The fact that the Rockies came out and said, “Yes, we’re moving on from Bill Schmidt. Now we’re going to start the search. That I I I I’m just like I don’t understand. I really don’t understand why it took you 48 hours to figure that out. It should have been Monday that you announced that Bill Schmidt was stepping down and now you’re starting that search immediately, but whatever. It’s, you know, the past is the past. Um, we’re looking towards the future. So, take a sip of your champagne. Uh, buckle up because I I did put together a ninestep recovery plan for the Colorado Rockies because I see many of you in the chat have said this is just the first step and it is just officially the first step in this recovery plan for the Colorado Rockies. So, I want to go through this, see what you guys think. Step number one, they just did it. Fire or remove Bill Schmidt from the general manager spot. Step number two, find an emphasis on external replacement for the general manager role. And that could be a president of baseball operations as well, but that’s the next step is basically replacing Bill Schmidt with someone outside the organization. That’s what we’re looking towards next. Step number three, finalize your long-term manager. That has to be done after you find a new GM because the GM is theoretically going to have a say in who your long-term manager is. Is that Warren Schaefer? Is it someone else? It’s not going to be Bruce Bochi. Sorry to rain on my parade and uh other Rockies fans parade, but who is that long-term manager going to be? That’s step number three. Step number four, I know this is slightly controversial, but I’ll say it again. You have to Oh, no, no, no. One step before this. Step number four, address media. I need ownership and this new GM and new manager to address the media. Go out and and have a conversation with us. Tell us what your plans are for the future. Tell us where you want to go with this organization. I need to hear from A Manford. I need to probably hear from Walker Manford. And then I want to hear from the new GM. All of those kind of things. That’s step number four. Tell us it’s not acceptable. We all know it’s not acceptable. It’s it’s very widely known that as an owner of a franchise to have your worst years and then set major league records is not acceptable. But come out and own it because they haven’t owned a lot of things in the past. We want the ownership of it to We want ownership to own their decisions and own what this team has been that we’ve all supported for the last 5 years and has been a complete dumpster fire 100%. So talk to the media. The Rockies do not do a good job of that. And it comes back to to bite them. The Rockies have really bad optics right now. You got to address the fans. Number five, this is the controversial one. You got to cut Chris Bryant. I’ve talked about it before. He’s your albatross. He’s not going anywhere. The money’s already guaranteed. He’s not going to retire, so cut him. Get rid of him. Open up your roster spot. Move on. Step number six, uh, identify and invest in non- baseball areas like analytics that need updating. You need a new GM. You need a new president of baseball operations to do that. But once you get all that in place, identify and invest in those areas. Step number seven and eight, and these are combined because now you’re at this point you’re starting to get back into the baseball world. Build your team around two players, Charlie Condan and Ethan Holiday. Those are the only two guys that should matter right now. Sure, Hunter Goodman’s good, Brent Doyle is good, but you still lost 119 games with those players. So, build around Charlie Condan and Ethan Holiday. Everything else is white noise. And step number nine by 2027, probably 2028, call up Ethan Holiday. Hopefully by then, the Colorado Rockies can be a competent baseball team again, and we can be moving forward putting 2026 and below in the rearview mirror. Um, but this is the first step. So, I I’m glad that we can get step number one out of the way and we’re moving forward and uh and it’s good to see. It’s very very good to see. Yeah, this is there are a lot of steps in this process. Nine of them exactly. And this I do think you know the what is that old saying? The first step is always the hardest. This was definitely the biggest and the first step that they could have taken. And it’s really refreshing to be able to talk about it in this light versus us, you know, arguing about it whether we should hire Ron Washington or Bruce Bochi as the manager and that they could somehow fix what is going on with the actual roster and baseball from the top down is so much more. It’s so important to have, you know, not even just a good major league club, but guys that you can supplement with those with rookies and, you know, guys in your farm system coming up and playing a role in the major league level. and then scouting and and getting guys from other teams in free agency that will actually help your team. They’re not just there to fill a roster spot. The ro the Rockies have so many filler guys that are just like, “Oh, we well, we got to employ 26 major league players. Let’s go find a couple that, you know, just fill those spots for cheap.” No, let’s change this whole thing on its head. Starting with Bill Schmidt being gone. Let’s go get some guys. Let’s change the culture and change the optics of this entire organization. Yeah, I I need to see some aggression, right? That’s why I’ve been griping for the last 48 hours on the Rockies, not making any move till Wednesday. You got to show that you got to show the fans that you care. You got to show the fans that you’re willing to uh really really hit this hit this ball as hard as possible, right? You’ve been the worst team in baseball for a long time now. And you’re a joke of Major League Baseball optics wise and of your own fan base. So, you’re not going to just change that by getting rid of the manager or hiring a new manager? No, you gota you got to really change some things that that uh push the envelope a little bit. And uh and to answer background’s question, would you do full house cleaning scouting? Um I although I think they could possibly make a few more moves front office wise, this new GM who comes in might do that himself. Uh but scouting has actually been we’ve said this before on the show, scouting has been okay for the Rockies. Their their scouting department isn’t the worst thing in the world. It’s the development, right? They’ve they’ve drafted okay over the last handful of years. They just developed terribly. So, u I’m not I don’t have too many issues with the scouting department. But we got to hit our first break of the show. After the break, we got to talk about Walker Manford cuz there was some interesting things that I’m reading into in the statement that was put out and in some of the conversations I’ve had with Walker Manford earlier in the season that I want to get get into and talk about the role that Walker Mford is playing moving forward with the Rockies and also talk about who could possibly be filling the new GM role. Who are the candidates that are most likely to get into the interview room for the Rockies? That’s all coming up next here after the break. Well, I want to give some love to our friends over at Toyota. Toyota is the official vehicle of DMVr and of the Colorado Rockies. And if you are getting ready for the winter season like we all are, you got to get on you got to get in board with uh with a new Toyota because if if you’re looking to buy a new car and uh you live here in Colorado, well, Toyota is the best option for you because not only are Toyotas great vehicles, they look good, they they last forever, but they’re versatile. They can handle any type of roads that you might see here in Colorado. Even some of the the sedan cars, the Camry, um you know, I mean, it’s they’re great cars no matter what the terrain is, no matter what, uh the weather is. And so, as you get closer and closer to winter, the weather’s going to start cooling down. You got to jump on board with a Toyota. They have so many different makes and models. 17 different models specifically that that offer all-wheel drive, four-wheel drive. You got the epic 4Runner, Highlander, um my personal car, the 2024 RAV 4. So many different choices. So head out to a Toyota, visit your front Front Range Toyota stores at a location near you. Autoation Toyota, Arapjo in Centennial, Corwin Toyota in Boulder Groove Toyota in Littleton, Mountain States Toyota in Denver, Stevenson’s Toyota East Aurora, and Stevenson Toyota West in Lakewood. Toyota is the official vehicle of DMVr. Also want to give some love to our friends over at Vololo because even though summer is wrapping up, there is still time to get on board with our uh official summer sports social league. That is Vololo. Vololo is Denver’s most popular provider of adult social sports leagues like pickup games, events, anything you name it. They’ve got u they’ve got games over in Loto, Rhino, Highlands, City Park, Cherry Creek, South Broadway, and more. The cool thing is, especially as it gets later and later into the summer season, you don’t have to be an official member of a team. You can just be a pickup player. You can join for a game, two games, three games, you could do whatever you want when it comes to that kind of stuff. Um, you can jump in and try to meet new people, or you can hang out with your friends, bring a group of people and get on board with so many different games like soccer, volleyball, pickle ball, kickball, basketball, cornhole, and many more. My personal favorite, beer and hand kickball electric. If you ever if you’ve never played that, you got to try it out. Um, so you can sign up as a free agent, small group, full team. All ability levels and backgrounds are welcome to join. Use code DMVR10 for $10 off any Vololo Denver League. All right. Uh, I want to talk a little bit here in a second about who the candidates are for the Colorado Rockies future GM position. But I I want to start by talking about Walker Manford because this press release that just came out, you guys all probably read it was interesting because it was not just Dick Manford. And actually most of it uh if you read through it was actually his son Walker Mford who as you guys know was promoted to president of was it baseball something baseball sponsorships or wasn’t it like corporate sponsorship something like that he’s basically the COO he’s taken over for Greg Fasel but I think what’s happening with Walk Walker Mford is I think Dick Mford’s saying you know what my time has come and gone for the Colorado Rockies. Yes, it’s still a team that’s in my name and I am going to maintain ownership of that. That’s not going to change anytime soon. But he put his son in a position where his son could start taking over, I think, what Dick Mumford’s roles used to be, which is kind of the the main decision maker, the public facing owner, let’s say, of the Colorado Rockies. And say what you will about the Mumford’s last name. Uh, a lot of it is negative, but I’ve heard nothing but good things about Walker Mford. Now, you and I have both said when Walker got promoted, we’re going to withhold judgment on Walker in particular until we until he’s given us a reason to think otherwise, right? Yes, the Manfort name gives us a little PTSD, but we just don’t know. Is Walker have a little more energy? Is he able to stand up to, you know, his his dad in in the decisions that are made? And I think this was the first decision that Dick Montfort let Walker Manfort handle in letting go of of uh Bill Schmidt going out and putting out this press release, which obviously Dick Montfort was included in the press release, but Walker Montford when he was when when you look at the part that’s talking about the future of the franch franchise, it was Walker. And I think Walker was the one who intentionally included the external piece of it. I’ve heard from people who have worked with him that Walker’s a lot more ear to the ground. He’s more in touch with what the fans think and what players think and that kind of thing. And so from my perspective, this feels like a step in the right direction. And obviously so much has to be done for this to really be a full step in the right direction. But if this is the start of Walker’s tenure of kind of taking over the ownership side of the Rockies, it’s a good start. It’s a great start. It’s a huge first step for Walker Manford. You know, he he got the York Space Systems title sponsor and now he’s fired or had his GM step down. Like we know, we all know what this is. This wasn’t actually Bill Smith stepping down from his role with the Rockies. He was let go. They they continued to be a little bit soft on that end and saying instead of fired, it’s, you know, he’s stepping down from his position and thanking him for all that he did because you alluded to it a little earlier. It’s not an extensive list, but Bill Schmidt has his hands over 95% of this entire Rockies franchise. It’s a 30-year-old franchise. He’s been around for 25 years. it. You know, the high days of like the early 90s were not bad in mid 90s, but then the high of going to the World Series and making the playoffs in 0709 and then 1718, he was part of that. But this is a huge move for Walker. And remember, we’re only calling him Walker. We don’t we don’t know what his last name is. It’s Walker only. And this is a huge decision for him. And we never know how it’s going to go, right? We can’t see the future. We can’t see what the Rockies will look like in 2027, but we do know everybody in Rocky’s world knows that this was the right move. And it we we just have a wait and see approach going forward of who they hire and and if they hire someone, are they going to be good? There’s no guarantee they’re going to be good. Uh there’s almost a guarantee that they’re better than the last three seasons of Bill Schmidt and what the team has been, but we have to take we’re resetting everything. This is the hitting the reset button on the Rockies right now in terms of you can’t reset the roster entirely, but you can reset what the the biggest problem of this organization. And and I was just thinking about this is like the Rockies have never had the last three to four years at least. There’s never been an onus on the players as much of like yes, they’re not that good. Obviously, you don’t lose 119 games with having a bunch of really good players, but we’ve never really worried too much about the players because what goes on above them in deciding who those players are has been so terrible and so just like the every step of the process seems to be just such a disaster that we hopefully can get to a point where a new GM’s in place, Walker Manford’s in place, things are changing, and then the onus gets put on the players because it’s like look at the the Mets. We talked about them a little bit. When you look at the Mets roster this year, who are the fans crashing out about? Is it maybe the manager potentially, but it’s not the ownership and it’s not the front office because they paid as much as they could to get the best players that they could. And the onus is on the players. The onus for the Rockies have not been on the players in multiple years because everything else above it that’s that’s clouding it over that’s, you know, the roof above their heads has been a nightmare. Yeah. I I think I think anytime you don’t make the playoffs for whatever reason, whether you’re the worst team in the history of baseball or the Mets that miss it by year, ownership and front office is going to take some some flak for not handling the deadline a certain way or not handling this or that. But like you said, it does come back down to the players. It comes back down to that. And I always say the Rocky’s players are doing the best that they can with the talent that they were born with. Right. If if Adel Amadore can’t hit 50 if he’s physically incapable of hitting 50 home runs in a season, that’s not his fault. He’s doing the best that he can, that’s ownership’s fault in the front office’s fault for putting him in that position in the first place, right? So, yes, this goes back to a top down issue. I I I don’t have gripes with really any of the players for the Colorado Rockies. The only player that I’ve had a gripe with in the past was Chris Bryant because there was rumors in talking to people who’ve worked with him and stuff that he didn’t really try that hard. And then the injuries obviously made that worse. But as long as the players are going out there and putting their best foot forward, I don’t have an issue with the players. I have an issue with the people who build the lineup. And I think in the end, Dick Montford has always been the guy who’s built the lineup. I think he’s been the one who’s made the big decisions. He said, “Hey, Bill Schmidt, British, who whoever in Dan Odow, whoever’s been the GM, hey, you can go out and kind of fill the gaps, but I’m going to I’m going to put the the superstars in that lineup the way I see fit.” And it’s never worked. It’s just never really worked. Even when the Rockies have been good, the rock the the ownership, front office, however you want to put it, has overthought things, overcooked it, and sold all of those good players to other teams. That’s why Trevor Story is getting his first win in the postseason for the Red Sox and not for the Colorado Rockies. It’s why Nolan Aronado is playing for the the Cardinals, right? Like the list goes on. So I do think by separating Walker Montfort from his dad Dick and by allowing Walker to have the benefit of the doubt for now and saying, “Hey, you might have the ability to be the only one who can who can kind of stand up to your stubborn dad and make these decisions as your dad’s kind of, you know, weaning his way out of this this organization from a decision standpoint. I I think that’s a step in the right direction. So, I’m I’m curious to see how that continues. I’m curious to see if Walker can continue to be um I wouldn’t say aggressive, but a a you know, making the right decisions, right? Uh and it just comes down to who he puts in place. Now, I I I I really don’t think the Rockies are actually going to hire a president of baseball operations. I I know I want them to. I I would love for them to do that, but I think just given how many moving pieces there are and how many things there are to fix, I don’t think the Rockies are going to do that. I think they’re just going to stick with the replacement of a GM. Um, so to answer answer Burj’s question, I think it’ll just be Walker hiring the new GM. I think that that will be the end end of how that works. I think Dick will probably have a say in it, I’m sure, as well, but it’ll probably just be Walker. Um either way, there’s going to be someone new in the front office and that is a good thing. It’s a step in the right direction. So, um while we’ve got it, just to to kind of split all of this up, let me take our second break of the show. After the break, we will officially dive into the candidates for new GM for the Colorado Rockies. There’s a couple of them, and some of them I’m I’m actually feeling pretty good about. So, we’ll talk about them coming up after this next break. Well, I want to give some love to our friends over at Bet365 because at Bet365, we don’t do ordinary and every single sport can be epic. I know Spencer’s feeling pretty epic because he just cashed in a nice little bet 365 parlay to start off the postseason yesterday. That was feeling pretty good. Uh, how are you feeling today? Use that code DMR365 when you sign up, by the way. Uh, you got any good bet 365 uh parlays cooking tonight? Well, I’m not feeling as good because I did have a parlay on the Bet 365 app for the Detroit Cleveland game and it is now confirmed that it’s not going to hit because the Detroit Tigers have taken Casey Mai out of the game. Uh, I got my Tanner BB strikeouts. I need the Guardians to win the game, which is now a 1-1 tie, but I had Casey Mai over five strikeouts. So, now what we do is we’re going to reload. Cubs Padres starts at 10:08 PM. So, we got eight minutes between end of show and Padre and uh the Padres’s Cubs game kicking off where I’m gonna gonna cook something up. But, I did hit a Red Sox Yankees parlay last night. I had Aaron Judge in there, Trevor Story, had the Yankees plus two and a half, which was kind of just a throwin, but I needed both of those runs and the half run to hit. Um, but betting like you want some advice and and everybody can see this from day one, just bet the unders in playoff games. I mean, they’re very they’re a lot smaller than normal games. I think uh Tigers Guardians today was six and a half. Normally baseball’s like minimum seven, maybe eight or nine. Horses Field it’s 11 or 12. But you want to bet the unders I think they were three three or four yesterday. Looks like they’re going to be 1 and0 today with the score of Guardians Tigers. Pitching, starting pitching is great in the playoffs. They they don’t leave guys in too long. They get their bullpen in there, which unless you’re the Yankees, apparently, your bullpen usually shuts it down and is pretty good and a lot of built of a lot of good players. So, hit on the bet bet 365 app and just bet some baseball unders. It’s not as fun to watch, but you know you’re going to get good pitching. Well, use that code DVR365 when you sign up. See why it’s never ordinary bet 365. Must be 21 or older, physically located in Colorado. Please gamble responsibly if you’re someone you know who has a gambling problem and wants help call text 1800 gambler. Who is going to be the future face of the front office for the Colorado Rockies? If I have a quick question for you. Yes. All right. you pretend you’re Walker Manford. Are you going to feel more comfortable with a GM that’s been like kind of has a history, kind of has a past in terms of whether it’s good, bad, just some more experience there? We talked about this with a managerial, you know, potential job opening coming up. Do you feel better about the Rockies hiring with what not knowing what’s going to happen in the future? We can’t tell the future. Do you feel better with them hiring a guy that’s been a GM or been pretty close to a GM and kind of knows how that works or do you go for the potentially disaster low floor but very high ceiling young guy that grows with the team? What is What is your gut on that? I need I I’m with Darien in the chat. I need new fresh thinking, fresh experience, new perspectives. I need young energy. I need someone who’s going to come out there and Yeah, sure. You got to be smart enough to make those decisions. We pretend that we know what we’re doing every single day on this show. And the reality is neither of us could field the winning baseball team, but I I need someone who’s got the energy and the creative thinking to be successful. I mean, think of uh think of what was his name, Theo Epstein, you know, with with the the Red Sox back in the day. Um, one of the guys on this list here was the youngest GM in baseball history when he was hired by the the Rangers uh at age 28 years old, which is insane. I am 28 years old. Um, and he went to two World Series and four postseasons. So, I I think we need someone who’s going to be aggressive, take some risks. You’re the worst team in the history of baseball. You got to be aggressive. You got to take risks. You can’t go from losing 119 games with the 24th worst farm system in all of baseball to being a playoff team in three years without absolutely turning things upside down. So, I don’t want to get someone in here who’s safe about everything, who’s just, you know, I’m going to be met meticulous and, you know, we’re going to go with a 10-year plan. No, no, no. I need someone to come in here and make some uncomfortable decisions. Um, so let’s get into it. And uh I yeah, I got to say it’s it’s interesting to read through this list of of a couple handful of people and and I will add this as well. If you guys can think of anyone else, uh throw it in throw it in the chat. Throw it in the Toyota chat. I’m already seeing Adamino’s name getting tossed out there. Um but if you think of anyone else, throw their names out there. These are the names that I’ve heard tossed around and I I put a couple notes together on each of them and I’ll give my number one choice right off the bat. Andy McCay, vice president, assistant GM of the Seattle Mariners, has turned the Seattle Mariners around along with Jerry Dotto. But Jerry Dotto is a little a little off in my mind front office-wise. I he’s made some dumb decisions. But I think Andy Mccay has done a really really good job with the Seattle Mariners. He’s worked in their front office for 10 years and he has the Rockies connection that I think the Mfords really are looking for because we’ve heard Dick Mford say over and over, hey, you know, we know how hard it is to win here in Colorado. So, we need someone who understands the elevation problem. And I hate that. I absolutely hate that that’s even a thing that he cuz I think he uses it as a crutch. I think he uses that as something to it basically excuse him from having to make other decisions by saying, “Oh, well, he hasn’t worked in the the Rockies organization, so he doesn’t know how to play at altitude, so I we can’t have that person as the GM or whatever.” But you’ve got your little Rocky’s connection there. McKay was a Rocky’s peak performance coordinator from 2012 to 2015, so he did work within the Rockies organization back in the day. He’s a young oriented mind. I actually don’t know how old he is, but he’s he’s he has never been a GM yet. So, he’s he’s got that like this would be a big promotion for him and he’d want to really base his career on this. Like this would be a defining moment for Andy McKay to go out and make a name for himself. Yeah. And and getting that guy kind of to Luke’s last comment, are there any known interests in taking this job? I think that’s where you have to go and get a guy that’s never been a GM and that’s taking a step up. Even though this, you know, going from, let’s say it’s McKay and going from the Mariners, a team that just, you know, broke through, finally made the playoffs and has had a great turnaround the last couple years, you got to find somebody that’s not been a GM before or is young and looking for a promotion into this role because no matter how bad a company is or an organization is, this is still a step up for them. And this is also you want somebody like you said not going to take safe decisions going to be uncomfortable because this is going to be an uncomfortable position to come into but this man whoever this guy is that we’ll find out in the next couple of weeks hopefully or hopefully sooner than that. This guy has the entire state of Colorado behind him for now like probably Wyoming and Montana. Yeah. This is not a this is not a oh I’m I’m trying to replace someone that’s beloved by the franchise and the fans and everybody else. this is like, no, this is my team now. I have to make some wholesale changes and uncomfortable decisions in order to turn this around. But could be, like you said, a career definfining moment. If this new GM can build a team that gets to the Rockies to the playoffs and let’s say 27 or 28, we’re not even we won’t even be like, let’s say 2028, that’s two years from now and and a third season. This guy is going to have an absolute entire fan base way behind him, pushing him forward and and rooting him on. And we got to give him some time. Obviously, we have to let him breathe and let him figure out what he’s doing. But I this guy’s got the chance to change the trajectory of an entire franchise. It’s a huge opportunity. I I’ve heard so many people say, “Oh, who would want that job? It’s such a disaster of an organization. Who would want to work for the Colorado Rockies?” A lot of people. Trust me, this is the general manager of a professional baseball team, a major league baseball team, despite all of their flaws that we’re talking about. There are going to be plenty of people who are interested in this job. But I do think this feels more to me like a statement opportunity for someone like an Andy McKay who’s never had an opportunity to be the GM yet. This is Andy’s moment to make a name for himself as the future GM or as the future savior of the Colorado Rockies organization. Then someone else who’s been a GM for a long time fizzled out at different different places and then tries to revive their career here in Colorado or just says, “Oh, this is the next step on my No, no, no. I need someone who’s like really committed to being to to to bas basically risking their careers on this.” you know, I mean, that’s kind of what I’m looking for. I I want them to feel the weight of their decisions the same way Rockies fans feel it. Um, every time, you know, you want to to watch the Colorado Rockies and the future of this team, I want I want that weight to be on their shoulders as well. So, Andy McCay, top pick for me. John Daniels, another name that got tossed out there. He is the current special assistant to Tampa Bay, a very good front office. Um, he became the youngest GM in baseball history back in 2005. He was 28 years old at the time, same age as me, which is insane. Um, he brought the Rangers to the AOS four times and two times to the World Series. He ran ran the Rangers front office until he was fired in 2022 before moving over to Tampa Bay as a special assistant. Um, he’s one of those guys that, you know, I I I probably wouldn’t be upset uh if if he ended up being the GM. U but again, you know, you had a lot of success before as the GM in the front office and you were fired. now you’re working as the special assistant. I I I just again I I don’t know anything about John Daniels aside from what I’m seeing here. Uh and just resume-wise, I’d like to see someone, like I said, with a little more to lose um coming out on that. So So John Daniels is another option. Billy Eper, this one’s a really interesting one. Uh Brewer, he’s the current Brewers special adviser for scouting and baseball operations. He was the former Mets GM. Little side note for Billy Eper. Eper was suspended in 2024 after a Major League Baseball investigation found that he directed the Mets staff to fabricate injuries to create open roster spots. So based on that alone, I’m thinking the Rockies aren’t going to hire that cuz you know, you have to remember this is the mom and pop Rockies we’re talking about. Um we only hire good people, but uh this guy is an innovator. Yeah, but that was the other thing I was thinking of. So I’m like, man, maybe this guy’s willing to think outside the box a little bit. But, uh, he was the Angels GM from 2015 to 2020 before coming becoming special adviser to the Brewers. And, uh, so anytime you hear Brewers, Rays, um, Rangers, it just Mariners. Yep. It just opens up, uh, the door for those smaller market teams to, you know, say, “Hey, bring those small market guys into Colorado and see if they can compete here.” EP is another name. Dayton Moore, senior adviser of baseball operations with the Rangers. He built the Rangers championship run uh or excuse me, he built the Royals championship runs 10 years ago. That was when the Giants were going to the World Series every other year. Um and the Royals were kind of in it that whole time when they had Salvador Perez in his prime. Um that was Dayton Moore was was kind of the architect behind all of that. He was fired in 2022. Apparently, he he and the Rockies were in conversations to to have him work with the Rockies organizationally in some capacity back in 2023. it didn’t work out. So, he’s connected to the Rockies still. He’s another name. And then last but not least, at least on my list, Thad Lavine. Um, he was in the Rockies front office from 1999 to 2005. Probably a name you guys have all heard. He became the Rangers assistant GM um and the senior vice president of the Twins for eight years. Four playoff experience uh playoff appearances throughout those eight years. Another good name that’s tossed in there. I know uh John Miselliaak his name got tossed out but uh Ken Rosenthal went out on his podcast about a month ago uh and it was actually Lefty in the chat who who brought our attention to this. Miseliaak Rosenthal was saying Miselliaak probably is not coming to Colorado just given the size of the project that they would that whoever takes this job is going to be facing. It’s going to be a really uphill climb for any of these guys. So um but some of these names I’m I’m intrigued. At least it’s not someone within the organization. So, right. Yeah, it’s a win no matter what. Any name that’s from the other 30 teams or 29 teams is a a win to start and then we’ll go from there. And as Jim put in the comments that that’s another huge key to this and I hope I I hope like you said in your step process that at some point Dick or Walker Mford’s going to do a press conference when they hire this new GM and I won’t you know you’re the credentialed guy and we got you know Saunders and Harding and they’re they seem to be pretty good asking some questions. That needs to be the number one question that’s asked. Don’t know if we’re going to get a good answer for it, but it needs to be how much of a leash and how much ownership and you know what’s there there there’s a word I’m looking for here. Um autonomy maybe or yeah how how much does this guy have? Because that’s the other big key with this is you hope when they’re doing their hiring and they did say external. It was very intentional that they said external. uh whether it’s for us as the fans and and media or whatever we call ourselves to feel happier about it. It’s worked. It worked for us. But they in those meetings and in this interview process, there needs to be some back and forth with the the future candidate and saying, “Hey, like what are you going to let me do?” Like, if you want to actually turn this thing around, you know, yes, you may be my future boss, but politely the [ __ ] you’ve been doing is not working. So, you have to not put me into that same, you know, that same insular track where you’re still my boss and you’re still telling me everything to do. I’m just the new face that now has to eat the [ __ ] because I’m supposedly selecting the players when I’m really not. The reality is that the Montfords are always going to have a say in things because they’re they’re not the the Coins. They’re they don’t have $50 billion plus to to lean on to say, you know, hey, we don’t really care if we accidentally lose $200 million on signing some crappy free agent. Like, no, they’re they’re going to be involved in the big decisions. But I think what needs to happen is if you hire someone, anyone on this list or beyond, Walker and company, but probably most likely Walker since he seems to be taking over for his dad here, Walker has to have the trust of saying, “Hey, I need I hired you for a reason. I need to trust what you are saying. I need to trust your decisions. If you say jump, I’m going to say, “How much money do you need to jump?” And am I willing to spend that kind of money for you to to be able to jump to where you need to go? Because the reality is Walker and and Dick Montford, the Mfords in general, they’re the pocketbook, but you should be hiring someone who’s going to make the decisions. The the Manfords are they’re not they shouldn’t be decision makers when it comes to scouting and development and all of that kind of stuff. We all know the Chris Bryant signing was Dick Montford. We know that. There’s no surprise there. It was 100% Dick Montford. That should never be happening again. Yes, when whenever you’re spending that kind of money, there’s going to be conversations, but that should be a move that’s made by the general manager, by the scouting department who goes out, evaluates a player, and says, “This guy’s right for us.” And I’ll give an example of a team who does that really well. The Yankees. And I’ve I’ve told this story before, but for those of you who are jumping in for the first time to our show, when the Yankees traded for Ryan McMahon, I had conversations with another Rocky’s reporter who’s been around a lot longer than I have, who said that Yankees scouts and Yankees organizational leaders were actually calling him, this Rocky’s uh this Rocky’s media member, and asking questions about Ryan McMahon, how he handles the media, how he handles fans, all this kind of stuff. They’re doing their due diligence because when you’re going to invest in a player, the Yankees took all of Ryan McMahon’s contract, his remaining contract. You’re going to invest in a player. You need to make sure you are making those decisions in an informed way. I would make the argument I I from our perspective, Dick Mford threw money at Chris Bryant without really realizing what he was. Everyone knew what Chris Bryant was before he showed up in Colorado. and Montford, all he cared about was the face and the name of Chris Bryant. And look at where that’s gotten us. You need someone in the front office that you can trust and you need to let them cook. Let whoever you hire be the person that you lean on and just basically advise them on how much money you’re willing to give them. That’s how I hopefully see this this relationship going. Um because like I said, the reality is there’s always going to be a conversation there, but you’ve got to be able to trust the baseball people to make the baseball decisions. Yeah. It’s it’s the only way that this new hire is potentially a success is let him have the autonomy to make the decisions he wants to make and trust trust yourself, Walker. Trust yourself in the process, in the hiring process, and then move that trust into that person that you hired to make the decisions on the roster, on the analytics, on the scouting, on the draft, all of these other pieces that go into building a good baseball team. This won’t happen overnight, but there are a few, you know, what we look for when we do our preseason show next year and kind of preview the 2026 season. There are going to be things that we look for that signal that this team is moving forward and we need to see those sooner rather than later. Mhm. 100%. Got to pause one last time for a quick break. After the break, what does this new GM situation mean for the manager of the Colorado Rockies? Does Warren Schaefer keep his job now? Does he lose his job now? What’s the situation looking like for him? That’s coming up after this quick break. All right, got to hit a super chat though, real quick in the chat. Cole Johnson says, “Praise Jesus. A new GM is on its way. It’s a wonderful day today.” Uh yeah, this is a it’s a celebration day. I I again, you know, we knew it needed to happen. We knew the Rockies needed to make changes. And this feels eerily similar to the Ethan Holiday situation because we were doing a watch along during the draft for the Rockies. Rockies had the fifth overall pick. Ethan Holiday falls or was it the fourth fourth overall pick? Ethan Holiday falls to number four. And there was that five minute pause where we saw that Ethan Holiday was still available. The Rockies were on the clock and you and I were sitting there thinking to ourselves, “It’s right in front of you. Just don’t mess it up, right? Everyone knows that Ethan Holiday is the exact one you should pick.” But anytime you’re dealing with the Rockies, there’s always that part of you in the back of your mind that has PTSD from the Rockies messing up so many good things before. Nolan Areronado, Trevor Story, Tulowitzky, the list goes on. How many times have the Rockies screwed up something good in the past? And so there’s this thing in the back of your mind that’s that’s sitting there telling you, man, what if but what if what if they mess this up? What if they don’t take Ethan Holiday? What if they try to overcook this thing? That’s kind of how I felt going into this off seasonason. Everything was pointing towards you have to shake up the front office. You have to flip this table upside down and do something completely different. But here we are, you know, here we were yesterday texting each other thinking, are they even going to do it? Like why haven’t they done it yet? I mean, are they not going to make any moves this off season? What the hell are we doing? Thankfully, they did, but man, for a second it felt like this was going in the wrong direction. Yeah, the PTSD of being a Rockies fan is at an extremely high level at all times and especially the fact that we’ve gotten the LA what we have the last three years, 300 loss seasons, uh the promises of the best defense in baseball, the promises of this team can be competitive and none of those promises coming true. So now today is a day of of new GM, new promises, new outlook on the organization, on the players, and from somebody that hasn’t been a part of the suck. Now, not saying that it’s going to change overnight and that they’re going to come in next year and the Rockies, we anticipate the Rockies being a playoff team, but there is a lot of hope coming through this decision. And I think that’s all as Rockies fans we can really ask for right now because those of you that are still around and still come to the show, we appreciate that. Like this that still care about the Rockies, there was almost nothing left to try to care about other than the fact that they got maybe strike lightning in a bottle and all these players that we kind of have an idea of the question marks of what they are just answers next year and they’re good and all of a sudden the team becomes good. No, this is this is true change and true different hopefully philosophies and whether that translates all the way down to the roster next year or in three years and we see the growth from younger players coming up and the development system. There’s so many things that can be so much better that you just hope that there’s positivity flowing in each of these different trains, each of these different lights of the team. Yeah. No, it’s it’s at least a step. It’s at least a step. uh what does this mean for Warren Schaefer now? So, we’ve had this conversation before. Again, those of you who uh are friends of the pod, you know, you know, our thoughts on this, but for for some of the new people in the in the chat, want to kind of go over this topic real quick cuz Warren Schaefer his has done a serviceable job for the Colorado Rockies. Obviously, he was gifted a a sinking ship and what are you going to do? there’s 50 different holes in the Titanic and you happen to be the captain now of the Titanic and you’re just going down with the ship. But we had kind of had the conversation about, hey, if if Bill Schmidt is the GM, let’s say the Rockies don’t move on from Bill Schmidt and he’s still the GM, does that mean Warren Schaefer keeps his job? Is there a disconnect between Schaefer and Schmidt? Um, there was some rumors coming out saying that there was a disconnect between Schaefer and Schmidt that that Schmidt wasn’t involving Schaefer in some of the decisions like the decision to call up Drew Romo at the end of the season. Those kind of things. Now that we officially know there will be a new GM coming into Colorado, a GM specifically as of now coming in from outside of the organization. Does this change your thoughts on what happens to Warren Schaefer? it. I think it decreases his chances just a little bit. So, I I think he still Dinger’s burner kind of summed it up perfectly. I think there’s I think Warren has deserved conversations and will deserve a conversation and potentially this new GM that comes in if he does have the conversations with Warren Schaefer and Warren Schaefer if those reports are true and there was a big disconnect between him and Bill Schmidt maybe he can kind of voice that and and say, “Hey, like this is what I would have done or this is what I wanted to do and this is how I was treated.” you know, like like when you’re a boss and you’re you come into a new job, whether it’s the Rockies or whether it’s just working at like a a Best Buy, you you should at least give everybody a chance that still works there if they want to still work there to to earn your trust and earn your respect. Like Warren Schaefer, the funny thing about Warren Schaefer is, and granted, you know, you can say that his performance wasn’t good enough and September was terrible. Uh that, you know, after the All-Star break was really good. At that point, I was like, he needs to be the new manager. I kind of fall somewhere in between now. But to me, Warren Schaefer being the manager and and coming in mid-season after the firing of Bud Black actually hurts his chances more than it would have if if they would have kept Bud Black the whole year and let’s say they fired Black today and Schmidt today. I think Warren Schaefer would have been a much higher level candidate being the guy that hasn’t managed yet and now gets a chance to maybe interview and he’s been a part of the Rockies and knows the players because I do think that’s important too. Like don’t get me wrong, I there’s going to be a good manager out there that they could hire and hopefully they do hire the right guy that leads this team to the playoffs in a couple years. But there there is some value in Warren Schaefer being a part of the Rockies even as bad as they have been that he hasn’t had control over being as bad as they’ve been. You can’t you can only put certain players out there and they can only perform as well as they can perform. So, I do think there’s a little bit of value in Warren Schaefer knowing the players and being part of the clubhouse and being part of the locker room these past couple of years if the new GM has the mindset of like we have five or six pieces here that I think could be successful. we need to supplement that versus a guy that comes in and is like, “Okay, we’re going to if they’re flipping the table from a player perspective and and getting rid of as many players as they can, signing as many new veterans or trading for as many younger guys as they can to hopefully bring up and be a part of the new team, then I think Warren his chances go down significantly. But I’m going to let the let it play out with the GM. And if if he think Warren if he thinks Warren’s the right guy for the job, I’ll feel a lot differently about how I see Warren Schaefer and the fact that I’m putting all my trust in this new GM. If he thinks Warren’s the guy, then I’ll feel a lot better about Warren being the guy versus just hanging on to Bill Schmidt and then hanging on to Warren Schaefer because he did an eh job. Yeah. Yeah. I like Background’s uh comment there. He said he said, “I like Schaefer to stay in the organization. He took on an impossible job, but I don’t think he should be our manager.” It’s a fair point. Um the the reality is that most likely if Schaefer is not the manager, he’s not coming back in another capacity. A lot of times you don’t go from being the manager to to at least initially going back down to being the bench coach or you know the infield coach or whatever that is. Usually you go to another organization and then if you want to come back at some point like Clint Hurdle did that that type of thing tends to happen. But I think if if Schaefer doesn’t return in 2026 as the manager, he will probably not be in the organization anymore. He’ll probably try to go somewhere else to to do something or start a new version of his career. I I think the the new GM will probably try to at least do an interview process. I don’t think this is going to be something where you come in and says, “Hey, Warren, I like your stuff. I’ve I’ve heard good things. You’re the you’re the you’re the guy. You’re the next uh next manager of the Colorado Rockies.” But I do think Warren will be included. I think this will definitely be an interview. Um I I think those of you saying, “Oh, it’s a new GM. He’ll just bring in someone of his own.” Yeah, I I think Warren has done enough and the players respect him enough that that they’ll probably he’ll probably get a chance. He’ll probably get a chance to at least speak for himself and be able to uh to, you know, give himself a little bit of a of a say through all of this. But I think either way, like you said, we’re putting our trust in whoever this this new general manager is going to be. Um, and and and that’s kind of where I’m rolling. Here’s a question for you, though. If if the GM, let’s say the GM comes in and said and says Warren is not going to be the manager, long-term manager of the Colorado Rockies. If they ended up bringing in someone who either works within the organization or is a former Rocky, would that change how you feel about things? Let’s say he makes Clint Hurdle the the new manager. How does that make you feel? I would you still trust the process? I actually would trust the process in that realm because I think it’s still a new decision maker making the decision to, you know, we’re not going to be able to tell if they hire this new GM with an, you know, handshake deal behind the table that it’s like, hey, we’re going to hire you as as our new GM to have X amount of flexibility, but this person’s going to be the manager. That concerns me from that aspect if that’s the case. But it it I also am like just struggling in my own mind to figure out if I think it’s better that a new GM hires another firsttime manager or like we want a young Yeah, we want a young and hungry GM. Do we also want a young and hungry manager or does this new GM hire a Ron Washington, Bruce Bochi? I’m not saying these are good hires. I’m just throwing out names of guys around those guys where it’s like he’s the wild card. Can we have Can we afford two wild cards? I don’t know. Maybe you need to have two wild cards in order to change where this organization’s going. But in my mind, it would be nice to have a wild card GM and a somewhat consistent manager that you know can do the job. But could a wildcard GM butt heads with a stable veteran manager? Right? If you’ve if you bring in, let’s just say Bob Melvin because Bochi’s no chance he comes to Colorado, but let’s say you bring in Bob Melvin. He’s a, you know, long-term Major League Baseball veteran, been a manager for a long time, and now you have this firsttime GM, Andy McKay, you know, a young 50-year-old who’s out there ready to make a difference and build his career. Does do do they butt heads? I mean, does that, you know, or or do having two wild cards, a young GM and a young manager, do they kind of understand each other’s perspectives, right? They’re they’re building towards something creative like that. By the way, just real quick before you answer that, um, just for those watching on television, we are heading into overtime. So, head over to thednvr.com to continue our conversation or if you’re watching on YouTube, stay right where you are. Um, but that’s just the only part for me is that like that it’s the dynamic between the two. I don’t care how it is as long as those two people can can get along. And I would even argue there’s two wild cards at the moment. You have Walker who’s a wild card because he’s a first time really being in the leadership role in the organization and possibly a new firsttime GM. Yeah, I think you you can go multiple ways with the hire of the manager once the GM’s in place, but we saw it with the Nuggets and how detrimental it really was to they have the greatest player in the world and and granted, yes, basketball and baseball are a little different. Uh, all sports are different in that realm, but the Nuggets had literally the greatest player in basketball and their coach and GM couldn’t get along, couldn’t see eye to eye. You end up firing both of them. And it it it truly came to light how, you know, you heard rumblings that they weren’t seeing eye to eye, but they just won a championship. You felt like everything was gravy. And it’s truly detrimental if those two aren’t on the same page. So, I’m I’m with you. I’m I’m cool with an older dude. I’m cool with a guy that’s been a manager for a long time. I’m also cool with going a third wild card and you’ve got Walker, a wild card GM and a wild card manager and you’re like theoretically it can’t get any worse than it’s been. So, it can’t get any worse. So, let’s just completely start the slate clean. Okay. I’ll ask you a very open-ended question here. I guess it’s a specific question, but you can give an open ended answer. Who would your choice be for the next Rocky’s manager? If you could choose one person, it could be a former player, former manager, who would it be? I I I kind of like the comments of the Adam Oavino earlier like he’s a guy that you know there was some comments after that that were talking about the fact that that’s a kind of an insular move and I don’t get the the same I don’t get the same feeling of that from a player that was here for a short bit of his career and then went on to the Yankees or like a DJ LaMu. Let’s throw I’m gonna thu out there. Yeah, he’s probably still I don’t know if he’s still playing but he his career will keep going. a guy like that where they’ve seen what the Rockies are, but they haven’t lived they haven’t Todd Helton it and lived their whole career as a Rocky. Like they see what success is like for the Rockies because they’ve been a part of it, but they’ve also been to other places and saw like a perfect example went to the Mets, went to the Yankees, like saw these other teams and saw how perennial powerhouses deal with, but he also knows the intricacies of pitching at Korsfield and being a Rocky. What about Charlie Blackman? Would that would that get you excited? Obviously, as a fan, it would get you excited. Or would you not trust that enough because he’s never been a manager. He’s never coached yet to No. Yeah. As much as I love Charlie and this is going to be an unpopular like I don’t I don’t want to see a I don’t want to see a lifer, a Rocky’s lifer be a part of this team and this leadership team. That’s fair. It’s fair. It’s why I also don’t think Todd Helton would come back. Matt Holidayiday not coming back. Uh Mark D. Rosa, interesting uh interesting comment there. Cargo, Brian wants to see Cargo come back in some capacity. There’s some fun names getting thrown out. Uh I I think what this shows is that the managerial spot for the Rockies isn’t that big of a deal. Rockies aren’t going to the playoffs anytime soon. So, you don’t really need a manager who’s going to manufacture you wins like Terry Franona can. Um so, I think it’s kind of, you know, icing on top of the cake at this point. The front office is what matters. Ownership is what matters. If you can get those two pieces kind of figured out and working on the same page, then you can figure out how to become a winning baseball team again. So, uh, it’s an interesting conversation, though. Real quick before we, uh, finish up the show, uh, Dion, did you get our our postseason brackets in in the chat? I know we were we were doing that real quick. Um, this was supposed to be our postseason show. Obviously, that got completely flipped upside down with the firing of Bill Schmidt. So, I wanted to uh before we get more postseason games underway, wanted to throw out our official postseason bracket picks on the show. We’ll start with Spencer first. um throw up Spencer’s uh bracket, which is still alive as of now. This is Spencer’s postseason bracket predictions. He’s got the Guardians shocking the world of baseball, going all the way to the World Series where they will lose to the Phillies. Spencer’s hurting a little bit after the Guardians lost the first game of the official playoffs last night. But, uh yeah, that’s that’s a that’s an interesting one. Yeah, it’s not looking great right now. It’s one to one right now, though. We need uh we need some Guardian magic. I basically was riding the hot hand. I was I was hoping the 07 Rockies. Yeah, you were hoping the 07 Rockies. They were 15 and a half games out in June. They made it all the way here. They don’t have like they left Nolan Jones off the roster. I can’t name half their team other than like Steven Quan and Jose Ramirez. Those are the two guys I know. But they I’m every year in baseball somebody gets hot and I was hoping it would be the Guardians. They hopefully can pull one out today and maybe turn that around. But my Padres’s in the NLCS isn’t looking. They lose they probably lose the clubs today and they’re out and and what a feeling that has to be for them. Like they look down on the Rockies all year and everybody does and it’s it’s also very fair. But you don’t even win a single postseason game after the great team and the the the team that you are and trying to win the division and we’re this and we’re that and and then you end up losing in the first round to the Cubs. Yeah, those bums. Get out of here. Those bums. All right, throw mine up there. This is my postseason bracket prediction. I’m riding with my Mariners all the way because, you know, the Big Dumper is undefeated. I’m hoping that the Mariners continue their dominance over their last few months. I’m hoping they’re the 2007 Rockies. I’m hoping they are the team that has the pieces, yes, but also just got hot at the right time. And ALCS between the Mariners and the Yankees goes so hard. I’m willing that into existence. I think the Padres’s, although I’m a little nervous as well, uh keep up their they’re they’re winning. at some point. I think they they roll through the Cubs and the Brewers and it’ll be Mariners Phillies in the World Series. Mariners coming out victorious. Uh on Friday’s show, we are officially going to be doing an actual postseason show. Barring any other Rockies news, I will be wearing my vintage 2020 Mitch Haniger Mariners jersey. And uh you got a Do you have any I don’t even know what other team you’d rock with. Do you because I know you don’t have Cleveland stuff. Do Do you have any Yankees gear for your kid? I have I do have I that shirt is very small. It fits a 2-year-old. Uh I have a My wife has a red Yankees hat. I might wear that, but I I loathe seeing it in our closet every time. Well, fair. Fair. But the Rockies, I mean, they’re gone, so you know. And got to get on board with another Maybe I have some Cubs stuff. I I might have some Cubs stuff. I’ll ride that. All right. All right. I love it. Well, thank you guys for hanging out with us on this emergency pod. Um I know it was a lot of information to digest, but we’ll be back on Friday. Nice little three show week. um in the offseason here. So, we’ll be back on Friday, maybe talking about some more news, but if not, talking about postseason and all the other good stuff. So, thanks for hanging out with us. We’ll see you guys next time. Shout out to the new front office for the Colorado Rockies. We’ll see you guys next time on the DMV Rockies podcast presented by Bet 365. [Music] [Applause] [Music]

  1. Don’t hate the double wild card idea for a Manager and GM. The Manager doesn’t really matter though until we give whoever it is a competent roster to work with.
