His holier than thou religious personality, his boring monotone interviews, his lack of passion, and him fuckin thanking Dennis Allen when we beat the falcons in our first game without DA. He didn’t like being a saint and everyone could tell. Rattler is none of that

  5. Spencer Rattler hasnt played a season worth of football. He still gets the benefit of the doubt because of development. Carr was on his tenth season when he played for the Saints with a 150 million dollar contract. Aint telling the full story.

  6. I’m not a Carr hater by any means but let’s not pretend he didn’t throw a ball 20 yards out of bounds because he was mad a guy ran the wrong route. He got yelled at by McCoy in the middle of a game, threw Olave into multiple big hits, and was paid top 15 money.

    I think expectations with Carr were to win, and when it was evident he wasn’t the answer the fans turned on him. Rattler was always expected to be a stop gap, and he’s played better than most expected. Easier to cheer for the over-performing underdog than the underachieving guy.

  7. I think a lot of unfair criticism was directed at him because he sort of personified the wrong decisions being made after Brees and Payton left. He was expensive and delivered basically nothing for it even though I do think he’s a good QB.

  10. Think what gets lost is that Carr was a Dennis Allen gamble on a horrible contract. The team didn’t achieve much and Carr never embraced the city. It was a no win situation from a fan perspective for him.

  19. One is on a rookie contract and was home grown, the other was the highest paid player on the team. Were paying Rattler 18.5 million LESS this year than Carr is on dead money. Theres a reason we aint that mad at Rattler gutting it out and trying to bring home a dub

  21. We hated Carr because he was not worth the price and ultimately the headaches he brought. He extended our delusional state thinking we don’t need to rebuild. It’s not all his fault.

    Carr was a vet paid a shitton, we were supposedly a playoff team trying to win and he was mid. Expectations were high.

    Rattler is a 5th round pick, basically a rookie (last year, dude was playing with non NFL talent), we are now rebuilding and expectations are much lower.

    He has improved a decent amount I would say. Still not great as evident by his missed throws, but do you expect a 5th round pick to immediately be Drew Brees?

    Having said that, I still want to see Shough regardless just to see what he can do. But if you think Shough is gonna be some savior, again you are a moron. This team is not good and has so many holes (thanks to dreadful drafting by Loomis) that even if we had prime Drew, we’d probably not win that many games.

  28. The massive contract and the experience is why Carr got ragged on for being average. Rattler has room to improve so we can live with him being average… for now

  31. One was a vet earning $35mil a year; the other is a second year pro, on his second coach, on his second system, earning a fraction of the other.

  32. The difference is Rattler was drafted and this is his second year with the Saints. He’s new. Carr was a veteran, so expectations were naturally higher. This should be easy for anyone to understand.

    (Counting the 2023 Green Bay game as a non-Carr loss. He had the team up 17-0, exited with an injury, and then Jameis came in and they blew the entire lead and lost 18-17: Carr vs non-Carr in a nut shell.)

    Carr in New Orleans: 68.2%, 40 TD, 13 INT, 98.8 passer rating. With the great stats and the disparity in W-L record, I think it can be said that he was a little better than average.

    Wish we got to see more of Carr and McCoy on the field together. That seemed like a key combo (13-7 record together).

  40. Rattler is paid far less and this is his first time starting. Carr was a veteran on a 100 million dollar plus contract.

  43. As a SC fan, I watched Rattler play his ass off for an offense with no line protection. It kinda sucks that he transitioned into a situation much the same. He has quite a bit of downside to be sure but I’d love to see him operate in a system that affords him time and a scheme tailored to his skills. I’m not saying he’s elite or would be, but hopefully this season allows him enough experience to become a solid backup.
