New York Yankees Highlights: Wild Card Game 3 vs Boston Red Sox

[Music] [Applause] [Music] Paul strike three. 100 mph heater from Cam Slitner who made his way through the first without much difficulty at all. Big pitch 99 right on his fist. Second strike out of the night for Schlitler. Got to throw a strike and he does. You can see it’s a two seamer with a little run on it and foul tipped into the glove and held on in the web. Hold strike three right at the knees. A sinker at 101. Oh, you look at the first pitch. Cutter in. And as a hitter, okay, you sped me up. I see the cutter. Then he goes 101 down at the knees. Neither of these teams. I’ve really ever dealt with these guys before. Another strike up. That’s number four for Schlitman. That’s a great point, Caron. You’re not going to know. And that’s right on by. You know, you trusting your stuff. Yeah, if you throw 100, I’m going to trust it, too. He went with a cutter. He’ll have to throw down to first. It’s another strike out. That’s five in the game for Cam Schlitler. And Rosario under the glove of Story up with it in left. Here comes Bellinger. Here’s the throw and he’s in there. Rosario delivers. The Yankees have a one- nothing lead. And they’ve taken one of the at bats. Base hit. The speed of Bellinger gets him to second base. And the speed scores him. And that one is into right field. Abrau comes up. They will hold Rosario as the throw is backed up by Early. Two nothing. Vulty RBI. He fights it off. And this one’s got some eyes on it. It’s about 86 miles an hour off the bat, but he’s trying to go that way [Applause] on the ground. That’s off the glove of the first baseman. Low. One runners in. Here comes Chisum. Two runs are in. And the New York Yankees now lead it four to nothing. The Gold Glover first base trying to backhand it in between. top could not come up with it. [Applause] And you’re right, Con, he’s staying with the young pitcher on the mound. Left on left. Swinging a miss. That’s a strike out. He’s got six. And he is also gone chasing Schlitler. Seven strikeouts tonight. Did he go? Yes, he did. John Lipka to third base off rings him up. He strikes out three in the inning. He has got eight. Story. Good base runner. Will not go. This one to second. Chisel. Good scoop by Vulpi who’s been a wizard on the infield in this series. As soon as he threw it, he looked at his right hand like it just slipped off it. But great pick. Not only pick it, but stay on the bag to get the force out. If this gets by at second and third, nobody out. He’s got nine. Yoshida way out of the strike zone for that one. Looking for his 11th strikeout. [Applause] There it is. A dirty dozen for Slitler as Gonzalz is gone. And Duran pops it up, giving chase and making the catch and flipping into the Red Sox dugout. What a catch by McMahon. Schlitler, the first one over there to congratulate him. They know what’s at stake. All out on the line, guys. It was right next to me. He got his hands down to brace himself so he didn’t land on his head, his shoulders, anything like that. What an amazing play to add to an incredible night here at the stadium. [Applause] One out away on a strike out of Raphaela. Soshidu will take second. This one is popped up. McMahon and the Yankees have completed step one on their way back to a World Series. Yeah. Hero. 1. They still have to win 11 more games. Even if they make it to the world series the Phillies dodgers and even the Cubs have better teams that can and can match the pitching of the Yankees

  2. Shlittler emerging as a real threat as a #3 or even as a #2 in the rotation really gives me alot more confidence moving forward. Very excited we're moving forward, but lets be real the Red Sox were depleted and they're defensive miscues gave the yankees many more chances than a good team would.

  3. To be clear, Boston handed this series to the Yankees in Game 2. Horrible baserunning, a popped up bunt and dropping a fly ball that decided the game. Sure that kid pitched great tonight but this is not a great team. Can't wait to see them get crushed by Milwaukee
