They did secure the naming rights to the building today for the Phoenix Suns and the Mercury. And it will now be known as the Mortgage Matchup Center. The MMC. The Is that what we’re calling it? MMC. If you don’t want to say mortgage matchup. Mortgage Matchup Center. MMC. That’s okay. We we we need to we need to creatively think tank some creative ways of saying Sun’s taking on the Rockets at the MMC. Kevin Durant’s return. Give me Get Vince Marada. He’ll do a better job than me on that. What do we like? What do we do? We just want Mortgage Matchup Center. It’s a It’s a mouthful. It is. It’s a mouthful. It’s a bit of a mouth. And what’s here at the mortgage matchup center? The mortgage matchup center. The You know, it’s it’s going to take some work, right? And that’s why you need you need How about the loan office? Maybe that the loan office. Okay. Um there’s really no way to shorter way to say mortgage. I got to work on this. I got we got we got to we got to we got to workshop this a little bit either way. Well, we’re are dismissing my MMC. Oh, no, no, we’re not. I’m just looking to see if we can do better. That’s all. Okay. Is that the best we can do? I don’t know. Very dismissive. Bernie mortgage matchup center. I mean, what else could you do with it? I I like like you you we used to call, you know, Bank One Ballpark the Bob. The Bob, you know, Chase Field was the chase. It was um just just something like that, you know. Sunundevil Stadium was Sunundevil Sunundevil Stadium. Yeah, Mountain America Stadium is Mountain America Stadium. Maybe there is no catchy name for it. What’s interesting about it is he basically sold it to himself. Uh the the Suns Mercury and United Wholesale Mortgage, whose president and CEO is Suns owner Matt Ishbia, announced the 10-year 115 million naming rights deal. mortgage matchup is the consumerfacing brand of United Wholesale Mortgage. He kind of sold it to himself. There were four biders, including himself, but in the end, he wanted to sell it to himself. Um, but there were four biders. There were three other biders besides Matt on this. It is a $115 million deal over 10 years for the naming rights. Um, they wanted to get it done before the season started. they did before the preseason games even started. So, they made the announcement today. I caught wind of it a little bit before they released it to the public. So, I went with it just a few minutes before they did just to put it out there. And again, there were four bit, you know, I don’t have a lot of information. We’ll get it from Matt when he comes on. Four separate biders, but in the end, they chose his company to do it and and he made the decision obviously. And it is a $115 million deal over 10 years. So, what’s that work out to Bernie? About $11 million a year. 12 million. Exactly. 11.5 million. $1.5 million a year for the naming rights. The math is very easy on that one. Yeah. Yeah. 11.5. Yes. Exactly. That was right now. 11 to 12 range. It was close enough. Yeah. Uh, okay. So, it’s it’s done. YouTube’s already chiming in on it. This is from YouTube, Mitch. Uh, people are saying the matchup. Just call it the matchup. The building is just the matchup. Uh, one guy said, “When I hear MMC, I think Mickey Mouse Club.” So, that’s your problem, not mine. I One other guy said, “Showdown at the morg.” Let’s not call it the more. Let’s Let’s not Let’s not do that. Uh, matchup arena. Just m you match up. We We’ll work on it. We’ll see. I’m sure Matt when he comes on is going to want you to call it the mortgage matchup center. I’m sure he is because they’re paying a pretty penny for it. They all want us to call it what it’s named. Why don’t we just call it the Mat? The Mat, short for matchup, and for Matt Ishpia. Now, you know what? We’ll just call it what it’s called because that’s what we’re supposed to do. It’s going to host the All-Star game in 2027. It’s going to host the 2026 NCAA Women’s Final Four, the year before that. So, it’s a big Brian Adams concert next month. It’ll be hosted that I’ll be at back in the summer 69 and game three of the WNBA finals and four uh that it’ll be hosting as well. the news around the Phoenix Suns today and this was from Jordan Au at practice today. An update on Jaylen Green. I think there’s a little update on Jaylen. Jaylen does have a lowgrade hamstring strain um that he won’t play obviously tomorrow. He’ll be with us in China. He’ll do what he can to see where we’re at in the preseason, but we we know that the goal is that that 22nd. So, um he was he does have that diagnosed yesterday. And you guys are confident that he’ll be ready for the season over. Yeah, I mean I think those are always a little little tricky. So seems to have good strength and the strength is improving already. So in a good place and we’ll just continue to monitor. As far as when it happened this week it was this week and then um yeah just continued to try to test it and then got the diagnosis yesterday. Terrible. I mean just your hamstring injuries are tough. You’re not he’s not playing in China um with a hamstring injury. They will they will nurse that thing and make sure he gets ready for the start of the regular season. What do we got? Three weeks till the start of the season. Three weeks starts October 22nd against Sacramento. Yeah. Yeah. So, I would think that that and and and what’s tough about this is you want him to play in the preseason. You want to develop that continuity and chemistry with Book in the back court. Um and now you’re not going to have that. You can only do so much in practices, but you got a game coming up against the Lakers tomorrow. You got the preseason games in China. It would have been nice to see Book and Jaylen Green. They’re going to share a back court together. They’re going to be out there the majority of the time throughout the game. You want to see them kind of work together. You want to see Book’s going to be the point guard. You want to see Book kind of get a feel for, you know, where to deliver the ball to him. So, that is, you know, that’s the negative to it. Uh it’s not a terrible like he’s going to be back, could be back for the start of the regular season, but you do lose that continuity and chemistry you wanted to develop. You’re on to something here though, and we don’t want to make too big of a deal out of it because it’s not it’s it’s not too big of a deal, but it’s also not nothing either in that probably the most important thing that needed to be developed on this team was the onc court relationship between Jaylen Green and Deon Booker. Maybe the number one thing I number one for me in my opinion, there’s no maybe about it. It is the It is the number one thing that But your number one leading scoreer and your number two leading scoreer figure out one and two and now they may not play together the entire preseason. And and I think that, you know, and I don’t know how much Book was going to play in the preseason, but just his availability at practice and his availability, you know, to work on things with Devin Booker so they can figure things out. All of that kind of gets put on pause with an with an injury that, you know, you and I have been doing this talk show hamstring injuries. Hamstrings are tricky. They’re so tricky and you just just when you think you got it fixed and you’re good and you cut and you run and it tweaks tweak it again. So it is it’s not great news. It’s not it’s not nothing that this happened and I hope this isn’t too big of a setback for him and them because it is very important. The other thing that happened with the Suns today uh they exercised Ryan Dunn’s thirdyear option for the 202627 season. I’ll be really I’ll be really curious to see the role that Ryan Dunn plays on this team this year under a new head coach because last year we were very frustrated. One of the many many things we were frustrated about when it came to Mike Benhoer was his usage of Ryan Dunn and how inconsistent it was. You’re laughing. I’m laughing because there’s 15 things that you were frustrated with Mike Ben. And I don’t know where this is on the list, but it was on the list. how he used Ryan Dunn, how he misused Ryan Dunnus, how he lack used Ryan, it was on the list, right? And so how Jordan Knot uses Ryan Dunn is again not as big as Jaylen Green’s availability, but I still think something to monitor and something to watch. Well, a lot of the veterans are gone like a lot of those veteran role players are off the team right now. So he is he becomes more of a veteran role player, you know, with another year of experience in the league. I think he becomes that guy. I think he’ll be looked at heavily. you know, they want to have a, you know, they’re going to try to trend to be a little bit more defensive-minded, you know, with Durant and Beal gone and some of those other guys and you’ve got Brooks now and uh Brooks and Dunn and uh that could be a pretty good shutdown defensive combination right there.
