Stupid. We had the room to keep him but gambled and lost. Very frustrating move by Waddell
So we basically just got the draft capital for Jiricek now ig
Really starting to worry about Waddell as GM.
I didn’t like that Jiricek trade then and I *hate* it now. The “key piece” other than the first round pick going back to the Wild for free really makes that trade look worse and worse. However you feel about Jiricek as a prospect, it feels like we got 5 nickels back for a dollar on that trade.
That’s an oof.
The trade looks fine. Unless Jiricek becomes a solid NHL player then it could look bad. But that’s ignoring what Pyotr Andreyanov becomes. Let’s all calm down.
Y’all don’t know about Big Andy, and it shows.
I’m just confused… we have 22 on the roster, Fedotov was already sent down. Why did we try and sneak him through waivers? And if this was always the plan, why not do it earlier?
End of the day, he was the 8th defenseman, so whatever. Just kinda weird.
Some people in here are really overreacting. It’s not like when Nashville put Dante Fabro on waivers.
Plus didn’t we get the Jackson Smith pick out of this?
Maybe that was Andy. Either way, we still came out ahead.
Both of those picks were killers
K-Pop, we hardly knew ye
This offseason has been extremely rough for Waddell. I’m going to try and be hopeful but it’s harder and harder to believe he’s the guy who is going to get the roster competing for championships. This transaction isn’t that big of a deal but overall quite a few swing and misses in the offseason
I’m a wild fan and while people are having fun with this – realistically its just as likely (if not more than likely) that he ends up back with columbus and on your AHL team within a month
Why?
The situation in MN is that there is a 3rd pair LD job open until Brodin returns (in about a couple of weeks or so) and bumps someone else down there. The Wild have been trying out various guys (their own prospect and other fringe guys) and no one has really stepped up and stood apart. Hunt already knows how the Wild play and, as youre familiar, is a similar fringe NHL depth defenseman.
But its *probably* only a temporary job. Unless he really plays his ass off the Wild probably arent going to have room on their 23 man roster to keep Hunt.
Which means they’d have to put him on waivers, and CBJ is higher in the order of teams that get a chance to claim players off waivers than MN (bc MN finished last season with a better record). That means no other teams in front of CBJ tried to claim him the first time.
So he’ll be there for CBJ if MN eventually waives Hunt (which I think they will within a month) and NHL rules stipulate if a player gets reclaimed by original team they can send to AHL immediately.
So basically I think the result of all of this is Hunt playing for your AHL team within a month.
