Top Plays from the Wild Card Series! (Ryan McMahon’s CRAZY Yankees catch and more!)
15 pitches, 11 strikes for Ty looking for a perfect first. Theado to right center field to Armstrong electric. Good play by Pete. Padres’s go one, two, three after a half. Padres’s nothing. Cubs coming up. ties a ball to deep right field. Michael Bush, goodbye. They’ve been waiting since the second for that swing as Bush clears the Ivy. And it’s three nothing Chicago. He had 34 in the regular season and he gets a fast ball. By the way, two strikes. See you later. Joey’s thrown 34 pitches. More balls than strikes. 20 of them have been balls. Chopped over the mound near second base. Rokio sliding and a double play. Ryan Rochio has had some clutch hits. He can flash the leather as well. And Daniel Palencia on phase 2 34. It’s a one hopper to a sliding Swanson. He does it again. You shall not pass. Danby Swanson showing off here. just knock this ball down, spin it around and throw out a Louisa Rise was getting down the line. That is four now. Count him. Four hits taken away from Danby Swanson. [Applause] Tried to backhand it. It’s a stinging line drive snared by Bayz. Grab by Bayz. Two steps to his right. Backhanded a ball that was sizzling into center field. One out in the third. Oh, the angle he took. I mean, he got off that ball really quickly. Here’s BB’s pitch. Swung on. Ground ball near the middle on through. Base hit center field. One run is in. They’re going to wave Dingler around. The throw goes to third. Safe at third base is McKinstry as Dingler crossed home plate and the Tigers take a two to one lead. Very close play at third and the Guardians want a challenge. He may be looking at a couple of different things here. The play at third if McKinstre’s out and the calls reversed there. Did Dingler cross home plate before the out. Cleveland is challenging the safe call at third base. So they’re going to start with that the safe call at third. I think if he’s out at third, it is really close as to whether Dingler made it. And Dingler looked back after he crossed home plate. Okay. As if he might have thought maybe I didn’t get there before that play at third. So we’ll see. The call on the field is overturned. The runner is out of third base. Also, the second run does not count. Wow. Retain. A double win for the Guardians. swing and a highf fly ball hit in the air out towards left center field. That’s well struck. Back is Kik Hernandez to haul it in. What a catch by Kik onto the track and he’s able to bring it down. Wow, what a fantastic play. He had one window to get that glove up. As an outfielder, you realize you’re running out of time to run any more steps. It’s time to put the glove up and hope that the ball’s going to be there. That one is on the ground. Soggard smothers. He goes to Story who has to leapfrog over McMahon and they get one. A couple of former Colorado Rockies come together at second base. Well, we’re seeing some really good defense at second base already early in the game. Talked about Chisum Sogar. Not bad at all right there. Excellent feed and play. Bregman Chisum fires to Fulpy to first. Nice double play by the Yankees to end the threat that the Red Sox were putting on. 463 athletically and acrobatically turned by Jazz Chisum and Anthony Vuli to limit the damage to just two runs. Latell the O2 swing and a ground ball towards the right side. Mlan picks it up, gets it to Latell who gets over and a big play right there as the pitcher covers. Mlan with a nice play. Bets down to second and there’s two away. But some nice defense there. Well, great concentration because as the ball with Stewart laying out or at least backhanding, you might get disoriented watching two guys coming back to first base. Gets up, pops, rotates, throws a strike. Nice shot by Latell also to hold the back. Gabriel Arias, Josh Naylor among others. Here’s a well hit ball to left by Dingler way back at the wall and it is gone. Dylan Dingler who grew up just down the road in Masslin, Ohio. As an Indians and Guardian fan, he has given the team from Michigan a two to one lead. Postseason changes everything. Now the infield is in. Dangler who struggled today. Broken bat toward the second baseman and a diving catch by Rokio. Give the star next to that catch right there and give another star a third base. If they’re not playing up, that’s a ball that gets through or at least gets a run. And what a dive full extension. Rokio understands the severity. What a great play. Shadow and Bogarts the runners on one two. This ball fisted the shallow center. Swanson makes the catch and throws a lob in plenty of time to the plate to hold Machado. Dansby Swanson robs Rhino Hearn for a second time with a runner at third. Watch the drop step to create the angle to be able to get this. Look like an outfielder. A lot of infielders can’t make this drop step to catch the ball out in the grass the way Dansby Swanson does this. Now you have elite speed at first base chisel. The Yankees have done their damage tonight. Both their rallies started with two outs. Seventh pitch of the atbat coming to Austin Wells and he lines one into right field. Fair ball. Chism to third. He’s being waved. Eden coming home. Here’s the throw. He’s safe and the Yankees have the lead on Austin Wells. Single and the speed of Chisum. A bang bang play and a great throw from Eaton. Ball right on the corner. Nothing you can do if you’re eaten. We talk about the impact of Jazz Chisum and how he changes the dynamic of this lineup. We saw it with the defense and now appreciate the base running. The aggressiveness, the slide to the outside part of the plate gives the Yankees some hope going into the top of the ninth. First run allowed by Whitlock in 14 games. [Applause] And Duran pops it up, giving chase and making the catch and flipping into the Red Sox dugout. What a catch by McMahon. Schlitler, the first one over there to congratulate him. Ryan McMahon airborne. Well, he’s known for his elite defense and it’s not just ground balls. They know what’s at stake all out on the line. What an amazing play to add to an incredible night here at the stadium.
